Bigtopia: We discovered it in the late 14th century when we found the tribal nations on the otherside of our continent. They were using a weak version of the gunpowder mixture, so we obtained it and modified it. One may say we never discovered it, but stole it, huehuehuehue.

Since Cybertron has no biolife on it, we didn't discover irrigation (let alone effective irrigation) on our own. We learned of it while we were doing preliminary research for our invasion of Earth, and perfected it after we won the war against that planet and had a chance to persuade some farmers to explain it. Once we had the explanation of the current methods, we let our engineers improve on it. The biggest improvement was simply to come up with a way to make irrigation channels so they didn't need as much maintenance.

Flight was initially performed for the first time with a proper winged aircraft in 1915, amidst the Great Civil War. However, it was not perfected until Frencis Sovilniov designed his first true bi-wing fighter in 1926 for the Panovian army, the ruling government of the region at this point. When the opportunity arose, he defected to the Khanese Rebels taking his prototype plans and destroying his blueprints, knocking the Panovians back a decade in the air-arms race. Right up until 1933, Sovilniov mastered plane after plane for the Khanese army, until he was captured and executed by the Panovians, but before he died, he gave them false information blue prints, forcing them to mass produce defective planes, winning the war in the air for Khanastan.

The ISKA never discovered steam power themselves, and by the time the nation was formed it had become not just outdated but defunct as a source of work and power. Steam is still used as a method of heating for homes, it is fairly inefficient but very cheap, and some people enjoy it for its rustic feel.

Steam power itself in the form of the steam engine was conceived during the first century A.D. on earth. It was effectively produced in a turbine of practical used during the late 15th century. Giovanni Branca in the early 17th century put the steam engine into commercial usage.

The Silviir developed steam power around the same time but put it to little use other than attempting to launch rockets into the sky.

The Levatue discovered steam power three centuries earlier and its progress paralleled that of earths in this endeavor but was soon replaced by the combustion engine.

Basic antibiotics were discovered by accident by Truvec Neialsor in 1871. His research would have gone farther, but he was executed by the Panovian government for being an anti-Panovitism activist.

His great grandson Slovek Neialsor would continue his elder's research in 1962.

The nation of Luw discovered the potential for Jet Fuel L, a far more advanced and effective form of aircraft fuel, when the Sky Fleet division of the Luwinian military got tired of Jet fuel A and Fuel A-1.

WAHDYND nanotechnology (if not yet discovered, when will they?)

It depends on the form of nanotech in question. We discovered carbon nanotubes and similar materials many centuries ago as part of a government-funded project dedicated to finding ways to improve the strength and durability of Decepticon Steel. Some of our excellent resistance to ballistic weaponry is the result of this type of research.

The plans for nanobots and a few working prototypes have been sitting in the basement of the Bureau of Impossible Physics for hundreds of years as well. They were developed by someone who was independently trying to see how small of a working robot he could produce. It was found that a single nonsapient bot could be made on the microscopic scale, while a sapient one can be housed in a body the size of an iPod.

Development of the nanobots was abandoned since we did not see any utility for them. Our bodies don't need microscopic "mechanics" nor do we have the tubing required to distribute them throughout our bodies. Simply using a wrench allows us to make quick and easy repairs to our parts.

The idea of making a body out of the nanites themselves is openly laughed at. It'll never happen here. Why would anyone switch a nice, sturdy, easy-to-fix Decepticon form for one that has all of the overcomplexity and resulting problems of a biological body?! Each of the billions of nanites needed to form a suitable body would be a separate component, and therefore, something else that could break down. Just like cells. But if we suffer mechanical problems, we get out a wrench, unbolt the failed part, and bolt on a new one. Simple and quick. We're not about to change that.

Now, however, there is talk of starting an actual nanite project. The reason for this is strictly military. The Military Research Division is thinking that nanites would be better than viruses for taking over biological bodies. Currently, we have a virus that can recode biologicals' DNA to force them into being loyal to us. Viruses, however, are able to mutate. When they do, they stop producing the desired effects. Nanites would be unable to mutate thanks to their mechanical natures.

Still, we'd rather just stomp on an enemy with brute force, so it's doubtful that a new nanite project would get much funding. The few times we've deployed the virus, it was done to cause chaos within the enemy ranks as susceptible soldiers turn on their comrades - not to produce a lasting change. The viruses are stable enough to produce this effect for the duration of a battle or even a war. That's good enough for military funding purposes.

The other situation where we control biologicals is when they're our slaves. For slaves, we just code their DNA so that they're loyal with no other outside influence needed - no need for any viruses or nanites at any point.

It took a surprisingly long time for us to develop the printing press! Our news and other distributable media have long been stored on chips to be "read" directly into the mind of the buyer via a port. This, however, left no easy way to make things like signs or flyers.

Finally, the advertising industry decided that it'd work a lot better if they could slap their messages around in ways that didn't require people to stop and download them. Engineers were consulted to make a machine that could mass-stamp their messages into the thin sheet metal we used as paper, and the Decepticon printing press came into being. An interesting fact is that even our first press printed in color. Color was essential for making the stamped-in ad messages attention-getting and visible from long distances, and since the ad industry funded the press' development, color printing was part of the design order.
