CAMPIONATO ESPORTIVA II

After the successful running of the first Campionato, a long break occurred. But now things have cleared up and together, we bring you the 2nd edition of the Campionato Esportiva! This years edition features 18 teams from across our fair region. But things have changed since the first edition. Many great names have left us since. Camwood, Thatius, Swalenia. From the ashes of our last have risen new nations. Licentiapacisteria, Sakhovelo and the rest.

We hope that this will be a happy and successful tournament, and best of luck to all those competing. Last years winners, Nakatumo Isle are not involved, so the title is totally up for grabs. Anyone could win it. May the best team win.

Group info to come

Stadia for the Licentian side of the draw:

LTI Stadium – 75,000 – Montfort

Named after the late Grand Duke, Luke Thomas I, LTI Stadium is the spiritual home of Licentian football. Home to the Licentian national football, and former LPL champions Montfort Wanderers, the stadium has been expanded not only for the Campionato, but for a UICA final hosting bid at some point in the near future. The final is likely to be hosted here, at LTI Stadium

Adamson Park – 65,000 – Montfort

Across town from LTI is another legendary stadium in Licentian football. This nearly 80 year old ground hosted the Licentian team’s home qualifier in WC59, as well as playing host to LPL champions, and Champion’s Cup group stage side, SC Montfort. Named after SC’s best ever player, Chris Adamson, this relic will play host to various games during the Campionato.

Abbey Road – 55,000 – Carrington

Abbey Road is the newest of the three hosting stadiums for the Campionato, at only 10 years of age. Home to the Carrington United football team, AC Carrington’s lacrosse and handball teams, and the Licentian athletics program, this is also the most diverse of the stadiums, with a running track and extra room for the lacrosse necessary.

The first listed game on each group match day will be played at LTI Stadium, the second at Adamson Park, and the third at Abbey Road.

OOC: I'll just C&P my BoF roster, and hopefully my RP oppritunity will get some more responses. So far I've got a grand total of one response. :(

*Your led by a young interim deep into the inner parts of the Earon Football Associations Headquarters. Your accompanied by several other gentleman, all of whom want to become the next Manager of the Earon National Football team. You finally enter what looks like a large conference room. The interim turns and leaves, as you all stand there, staring at a man who seems to be clipping his toe nails.*

"Oh, Hi. Didn't see you there. You must be the candidates to become our new Manager. Welcome."

*You blink several times, continuing to stare at the man clipping his toe nails, hoping that it's just a part of your imagination. Sadly, it's not.*

"Oh, excuse me. I woke up a bit late today, in fact, I just got out of bed an hour ago, and my wife rushed me out the door. Didn't have time to clip my toe nails in the morning."

*You look at your watch. It's 5 o'clock in the evening.*

"Shall we get started. Please have a seat. Would anyone like to help me pull on my socks, with my arthritis it gets pretty hard?"

*As you take your seat, you join with everyone else, shaking your head NO.*

"Well then, my name is Alaois Trúc, Chairman of the Earon Football Association. As you're already well aware, we're in need of a Manager for our National Football Team. Our first Manager, Timotheus Ulrik, had a spectacular record of one win and one draw in twenty-three matches, before we sacked him. We're hoping that one of you will do much better."

*After hearing how poorly the team has performed in the past, you consider leaving. You decide against however, as you realise this is a great chance to become one of those Football Heros they always make movies about.*

"First things first. We'll need your résumé, so fill out this sheet..."

*The same interim who led you to this room re-enters, this time carrying a bundle of papers, handing each person present one of the résumés.

"...And we'll also need to schedule an interview with you. Please let Ms. Shaked Quigg, my personel secretary know what time would be suitable for you."

*You watch as a beautiful women waves and smiles at you. It seems that every person present believes that Ms. Quigg is looking at them, but you know for a fact that she's looking at you, and nobody else. She bends over, as if to whisper into Mr. Trúc's ear, but instead she yells.*

"It's Sha-ked, you idiot, not Shaked. You have to put a pause between the two syllables."

*She turns and again waves and smiles to you, and only you. You swear she even gives you a wink. She leaves the room. Mr. Trúc is clearly angry, and yells back at Ms. Quigg.*

"Just remember who signs your pay check!"

*Mr. Trúc's face is redder then ever, but he manages to give a weak smile to everyone in the room.*

"Well gentleman, I believe we should next head down to the training field, where you can meet the team."

*The young interim has just finished collecting the résumés, not because everyone has filled them out already, but because the interm brought too many with him, and has managed to drop several hundred empty résumés onto the floor. He gets up, and walks over to Mr. Trúc, before whispering into his ear."

"Oh yes, that's quite right. I had forgotten that the squad had already left for the Baptism of Fire. In that case, would you mind bringing these Gentleman a copy of our roster."

*The interim leaves the room. You take the break in the meeting to look around the room. You notice the vaulted ceilings, and the crown trim molding covered in what looks to be gold, but the thing that most intrigues you is the fact that Mr. Trúc is picking his nose. He notices you staring at him, and quickly blushes, before being saved by the interim, who has returned with the rosters. This time the interim has brought just enough for each person present, but still manages to drop several when he reaches you. You take a look at the roster.*

RP Oppritunity!

So as you may have been able to tell, I'm searching for a new manager for the squad, perferably from outside my country. If your interested in having one of your charecters become my manager, or develpoing a new charecter to fill the role, this is the perfect oppritunity for you to do so. In order for me to consider you as the squads new manager, there are two things I need you to do, one required, and one optional. And yes, I realise this is geared more towards the BoF, but just replace any mention of the BoF with the CE2.

First, the required part. Those résumés that Butter Fingers the interim handed to you. Yeah, fill 'em out. When your finished, send them to me, Earo, in a TG.

A fun fact about you:
Where do you see Earo finishing in the World Cup 61 Qualification Group:
On a scale of 1-10, what is Earo's chance of winning the Baptism of Fire:

Now, the optional part. The interviews. I'll leave this totaly to you in terms of RP. However, there are some points you should follow:
  • Mr. Trúc, Ms. Quigg, Butter Fingers the Interim, and at least one player from the team must be mentioned at least once in your Interview RP.
  • Mr. Trúc will be the only one asking questions.
  • The Interview must take place at the stadium where Earo will be playing their next match, either before the match, or after it.
  • Everything else is up to you, the questions, answers, reactions, and other events.

I'll make my final decision as to who will become the manager following Earo's final match in the Group Stage. As for how I make that decision, will be kept secret. While the Interview won't make or break your chances of getting the job, they will help you greatly. If you have any questions, just send my puppet master, Darmen, a TG, and I'll be happy to answer.

Hanler had nothing to do. Since stepping down as head coach of the Cyborg Holland national team after thier unsuccessful campaign to qualify for World Cup 60.

He sat in his office in his Eindhoven flat tapping away at his laptop, occasional looking out over the city skyline. The Lëmans bank tower glinted in the sunlight, and he tilted the blinds slightly. A electronic ping rung out from his computer and he switched over to his emails. A single new email from his friend, a high member in the CHFA had popped up in the inbox screen.

Ben,

Couldn't help but notice this when over in Earo for an EFA meeting. They're looking for a new manager. They're currently in the BoF and will be competing against them in the Campionato, so you could 'get your own back' over the side. I took the liberty of copying the application form. If you're interested, fill it out and email it back to me, and I'll fax it through to them.

Cheers, Mikael

Name: Ben Hanler
Age: 39
Nationality: Cyborg Holland
Previous Coaching Experience: Coach of the Cyborg Dutch National Team (2007-2012) FC Guingamp (2005-2007), Preeta Bay (2004-2005)
Previous Playing Experience: Played for Paritzburg City SC for 12 years until rupturing a hamstring in a league game and was forced to retire. He played Right Midfield, scored 24 goals in 103 games, and was capped twice by the National side.

A fun fact about you: Collects exotic fish in a pond in his Eindhoven home,
Where do you see Earo finishing in the World Cup 61 Qualification Group: We do not know the groups yet, so can't make an informed decision,
On a scale of 1-10, what is Earo's chance of winning the Baptism of Fire: At the moment, you sit fourth in your group, with three games gone. They will need to win the next two games definitely qualify.

Derrosse couldn't believe it, that last minute opportunity, ended on the crossbar.

The game was a bit boring, with Earo getting a 5th minute goal because of our defence's problems, Shet Ralston headed a cross from a corner which ended up hitting the post and crossing the line. After that, none of the teams really meritted something else. Except maybe for that last Ichi Tuzzio free kick on the last second, which hit the crossbar and went out, Tuzzio was the only player who really shone on his own, but he wasn;t enough.

Derrosse was really dissappointed, but regardless of that, he decided to conr=gratulate Tuzzio for his performance.

Derrosse: Hey Tuzzio, I just wanted to congratulate you for your performance against Earo, it was really impressing, god damn that last shot.
Tuzzio: Don't worry Donde, I'm sure we'll qualify, we'll have it difficult, but we'll qualify.

After a cheering manager-player conversation Derrosse left completely renewed, maybe Tuzzio's optimism was contagious....

Ares-y-Penthesilea

The twin emirate at the mouth of the River Nekron is sending a team made of reluctant academics. Not know for their athletic prowess or even their hand-eye coordination, it is nonetheless thanks to the efforts of enthusiastic extra-curricular activities organiser Kain Aristarchus that they find themselves here. In an ambitious program of physical activity that somehow made it past the executive committee of the Dual Universities Administrative Facility, Aristarchus was given the power to enforce students onto his keep-fit programs, believing that physical health will promote mental health and therefore, marks.

In a moment of high spirits, he signed up all the staff of the universities as well, believing it would show solidarity with the students. And whilst this was not necessarily a popular decision, the teaching staff went along with it, and this squad is made of those members of either Ares of Penthesilea University that are yet to fulfil their credit obligations for the module. Still. Yes, even after their appearance at the last tournament.

He has high standards, alright?

GOALKEEPER
Prof. Hilarion Ismael - Professor of Urban Studies, 65
Surprisingly nimble for a man of his age, hates undergraduates with a passion.

SWEEPER
The Minotaur - Chief Librarian, 3494
Half-man. Half-bull. All-bastard. If there's one thing this master librarian hates more than students who don' return their books on time, its attackers who get past the defence. Be warned.

LEFT BACK
Hyacinthus Petros - Graduate (Political Science), 30
One of the few here who can actually kick a ball to its intended target more than 75% of the time, but would much rather mutter about red flags and plan revolutions.

CENTRE BACK
Prof. Melanthios Andronikos - Dean of Faculty, 55
Has become rather a fixture in the smoking room as of late, and perhaps they are hoping his sheer mass presents an obstacle for the opposition to at least avoid running into.

CENTRE BACK
Dr. Lykourgos Jehovah - Provost, 75
One of the more enthusiastic members of the team, its a shame he's essentially deaf and can't see without his glasses. Which he insists on taking off to play.

RIGHT BACK
Anatolios Jehoiakim - Undergraduate (Events Management), 23
Can most often be head shouting "It IS a real degree!" at those who tease him. Which is the entire squad.

LEFT WING
Prof. Nikodemos Straton - Head of Philosophy Department, 50
Has blistering pace as far as academics go, so as long as Aristarchus keeps him focused on the game in hand on not some deeper question, he could be trouble.

CENTRAL MIDFIELD/PLAYER-MANAGER
Kain Aristarchus - Physical Education Coordinator, 39
Perhaps not as fit as he used to be, the enthusiastic physical education coordinator is nevertheless the only one here who knows anything about the tactical side of the game, and therefore will be player manager.

RIGHT WING
Dr. Livianus Democritus - Senior Lecturer (Psychology), 86
Practically a fossil. Dr Democritus will need severe lubrication with whatever spirits you've got lying around to keep him going onto the next match.

STRIKER
Athena - God of Wisdom, Ageless
Some crafty so-and-so sacrificed an owl or something, and so Athena popped down to say hi. Apparently she's a bit of a bitch when crossed, so expect to see some lethal performances.

STRIKER
Coeus - God of Knowledge, Ageless
Tagged along with Athena. Nobody knows nearly as much about him as they do with Athena, but he has the same deep boomy voice and hollow black eye sockets, so they stuck him up front.

Game One Draw

"Well that's not exactly how we would've liked to start this." The quote, provided by right midfielder Ian Justice, is the mutual feeling among the Dreadlocks as they open the second version of the Campionato Esportiva with a draw to Cyprardeos. With one goal scored apiece, and a lack of offense from both sides, the game was ultimately going to be decided in the middle third. Both teams played a strong midfield game but when lapses occurred, the defenses did not do too much to stop their opponents from taking shots. Fortunately for the goalkeepers. the majorities of the shots were poor and off target. However, in the fifty-ninth minute Cyprardeos managed to put one in the back of the net on an absolute strike from twenty yards out. Thrilledge was not down for long as eight minutes later, Kris Dockery headed the ball in off of a free kick from Issac Nash. Both goalkeepers played well, as they had too with the poor defensive play. Cyprardeos almost scored another in the eight-seventh minute off of chaos after a corner kick but Stan Warwick saved a goal by deflecting the ball away from the goal on his own goal line.

After the draw against Cyprardeos, Thrilledge will take on 19th Century Beards who won their first game over Free University by a score of 1-0. If Thrilledge wants to take this second game, their offense has to step up. They barely had the ball in the attacking third. Midfielder J.D. Davidson had this to say: "I think our offense can perform better if we attack by completely spreading out the team and taking the ball wide. That just may open up holes in the center of the field." If that is indeed their strategy they may have trouble executing it against a strong 19th Century Beards defense. Game two is tomorrow at Eindhoven Sports Arena in Cyborg Holland.

Licentians Thrash Pirates... As Anger Grows Over Misspelling

The two nations of Cyborg Holland and Licentiapacisterra begun their hosting of Campionato Esportiva last night, with the Cyan and Gold thrashing Blackbone Bay 5-0 at the Amzterdam Arena.

The Blackbone Bay side has as of yet failed to release information for the CE, but that didn’t stop the Licentian side from performing at their best in what seems to have ended up like a warm up. Logan Moran got a goal within five minutes of the game starting. Lewis Naylor, returning to the team after signing with Teva FC in United Gordonopia, hooked in a cross, and Moran headed it past the unnamed keeper. Jack Kerr added one of his own with a few minutes before half time, slotting a left footed strike into the bottom corner of the net.

At half time, Dylan Knight was replaced by Drew Martin, showing Gardiner’s wish for attacking football, as the side moved to three strikers. The Rivermouth man immediately made the sort of impact he makes for his club, with a curling free kick finding its way into the top corner, with Martin backflipping in celebration. Moran added his second to make it 4-0 on the hour mark, with a powered strike from 10 yards out, before making his hattrick with another header late on. All in all, it was sort of a training effort for the Eagles, with the challenge likely to begin in earnest against New Serbia, at Ashbaarn Park tonight.

Meanwhile, the Licentian government has issued a request to countries competing in the Campionato that they spell the nation’s name correct. Misspellings include “Licentiaseterra” from the Asadurians, and “Licentiapacsteria” from our Cyborg Dutch co-hosts. John Harrison’s statement requested that nations “at least attempted” to spell Licentiapacisterra correctly, and is sending out pamphlets informing visitors of the correct spelling.
This nation has now been reformed as the Licentian Isles. Please direct anything intended for me to that nation.

Derrosse finally got what he wanted: to win. Tuzzio's promise seemed to start getting more and more real as time passed. First the 2 - 2 draw, now the 3 - 1 win over Romanicus, with 2 goals from Tuzzio and 1 from Nuutba. The key was on shooting from outside the box, Romanicus played a solid defensive play, but left spaces outside the box, from where Tuzzio finished them on the 54th and 67th minute without mercy, Nuutba finished it with a 70th minute goal, also from outside the box. Romanicus got a goal from a last minute corner kick, which ended up being useless.

Derrosse knew that they were going to have it difficult if they wanted to qualify, but the team looked solid, and it wasn't impossible. Specially with Tuzzio as an offensive midfielder, too bad he was going to play for Farfadillis on the World Cup. He also thought about the other little kid (who was actually 18): Miralles. A good player, good at defending, organized, quick, good at dribbling, but the best thing, he was gong to play for Dandillis. He had promised to stay, regardless of Farfadillis' offer. Miralles, took the match as if it was a friendly, he wasn't nervous. That was good news.
