Fashion in your nation

Postby Breezedawn » Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:09 am

A place where you can tell other people about what fashion is like in your countries nation. E.g what is formal wear like and what casual where is like for males and females.

Men's formal:
The formal wear for men Is quite simple just an average suit which on royal holidays are worn with the colours dark blue and black which are the colours of the royal family.

Men's casual:
The casual wear for men is also quite simple either wearing a polo shirt, jeans, chinos or a normal t-shirt.

Female formal wear:
The formal wear for women consists of short sleeveless dresses that are just above the knee.
An example of one:
The most common footwear worn with both casual and formal clothes for women is high heels

Women's casual:
Women's casual wear is diverse in breeze dawn but the most common form of casual wear is this a short dress like vest with skintight chinos and belt

I don't think that "fashion" is even a word here. You know, considering we are completely amorphous and subject to losing our clothes that way.

We are so militarized that camouflage patterns are simply for style, even though our military doesn't really use camouflage patterns to say when it is mostly a pure white coat(MT) flak armor in any select pure color for that regiment (FT)

Oswalds tend to be very conservative in dress. For work, men usually wear coats and ties with fedoras or simular type hats. Women usually wear pant suits but some go with a fashionable dress during the summer days. Casual wear might include polos and khakis or a warm sweater during the cold winters. Youth trends go toward "expressive" dress, but that usually wears off by the time they join the armed forces.

Casual:

Image

Yes, the men wear three-peice suits as casual wear. Why? Because shut up. Though, Vudnian Etiquette says that men must remove their jackets when coming indoors.

Image

Women generally wear a simple dress with something “thrown over the shoulders” Be it a jacket or a shawl, it varies from region to region. Colors and patters vary widely across the empire, depending on the climate, wealth, and personal tastes of the wearer.

Formal:

Image

Unlike formalwear in most other countries, Men are expected to wear colorful clothes to formal event, especially if they can complement their wive’s outfit. What separates a formal suit from an everyday suit is the gold buttons and ropes. The wealthier you are, the more gold you can afford to put on an outfit (Or at least get a cheap gold substitute)

The Dress the lady wore for everyday has now sprouted a train. The dress has also sprouted some extra Ruffles, or ruches, and in general requires more skill than the everyday dress.

Generally, lightweight clothes is the norm, due to the fact that Saurisia is a tropical nation and thus is quite hot all yearlong. In the colder regions, thicker clothing is worn, especially ones with furcoats and the like. This is especially so in the winter. 40's and 50's fashion is also popular (i.e trenchcoats, fedoras, etc for males and long dresses for females), albeit made with lighter fabrics (again, due to Saurisia's general tropical weather).

Female Allosaurus in country garb
Male Dragon clad in one of a number of different fashion styles popular amongst young adults

Then, of course, there are traditional garments.

First off are the clothes worn traditionally by the Drakonian and Khalkan nobility. Khalkan and Drakonian nobles traditionally have worn flowing robes and garments made of beautiful high-quality fabrics which typically has linings made of gold and jewels which resulted in clothing that shone beautifully in the sunlight. Traditional colors are red, green, blue, yellow, aqua, and black.

A Drakonian priest and noble converse, clad in their respective traditional garments

In contrast, Drakonian and Khalkan commoners typically wore more plain articles of clothing, often made of various animal pelts and the processed skins of the various Reptilian beasts that inhabited their respective homelands. Of course, some did don bracelets, rings, and other jewelry made of gold and sewed gold linings into their clothing. The gold in this case was usually stolen from nobility by robbers who sold the gold to others or were acquired in small quantities by individual commoners on their own. Of course, most of these people were of relation to merchants or other more well-off common folk.

The Dinosaurs, Pterosaurs, and Crocodilians traditionally wear lightweight robes made of materials specially suited for the tropical weather of their homeland. Lower class individuals wear plain robes often woven out of cheap linens and fabrics. Upper class, on the other hand, generally wear more extravagant clothes, made from more expensive and vibrant fabrics. Their clothes tend to be colored brighter white than commoners' and typically also have red and purple fabrics sewn in. Some even dress in clothes made out of high-quality silk.

Image
A Saurist priest clad in traditional garb, showing what the typical Saurian style of dress used to look like

The Marine Reptiles, Cetaceans, primitive Dinosaur tribes, and Lizards tend to wear little articles of clothing. The first two due to their largely aquatic lifestyle and what little clothing they have are typically tight skin-hugging pieces of specially-made watertight leather and cloth worn around the groin and the chest in the case of females. The latter due to their hot tropical environment and their tribal lifestyle meaning that more conservative clothes are rendered moot. Both genders generally wear loose loinclothes made of various fabrics, with females typically wearing what is comparable to a bra or a tanktop made of lightweight cloths that cover their chests and upper torsos. Unsurprisingly, they're the most liberal about nudity of the various species.

Male Sslurid clad in warrior garment, note that the clothes mark an elite warrior and are typically a bit more conservative than traditional Lizard garment

In contrast to all of this, the Dwarves have the most conservative clothing of any society in Saurisia. They are traditionally garbed in thick coats made of fur, wool, or linen. Many wear flowing capes or cloaks made of various fabrics. It's also common for them to wear mail shirts or cuirasses as well, such is their war-loving culture. This is due to the generally cold weather of the mountains, hills, caverns, and underground cities they live in, but also because of the culture itself, the most conservative in the nation.

Generally clothing worn is whatever the individual wants. As far as formal wear goes though suits and rather proactive dresses are the normal.

For the Priestess of Glenfinnan (our church) white Dresses and hooded cloaks are what they are require to wear.

The noble classes of society tend to wear regal robes while carrying out their duties.

The royal court tends to wet the nicest clothing, but Emperor Sebastian often favors toga like robes when lounging about the palace.

The fashion in the Isle of Kesha is unlike any other.

Both men and women wear extensive makeup. However, the two genders have different makeup styles. For men, lips are largely expected to compliment the outfit. They may be natural with a coating of gloss, a bright, fire red, or a tiffany blue. It must accentuate the outfit, though. Men wear elaborate amounts of glittery eyeshadow as well as heavy black eyeliner. Women's makeup is different, reminiscent of 1920's flappers. Their lips are painted to look similar to Lady Gaga's lips in her Paparazzi video using a color that accentuates the outfit, usually a red or black. Blush is very popular with women as is mascara.

It is a cultural expectation that nails and teeth are neatly groomed and taken care of. Most Keshans go to nail salons at least one a weak where the minimum people get is nail grooming followed by a clear coat. Keshans usually go to the dentist monthly, and appointments usually conclude in teeth whitening. In between said appointments, Keshans use whitening strips. Teeth are always corrected to be perfectly straight, the ugliest thing in the Isle of Kesha is to have crooked teeth.

The most fashionable outfit for males consists of neon or animal print leggings tucked into boots that reach just below the knee and a loosely fitting tank top. Mean usually accessorize this outfit with multiple necklaces and bracelets. Ear piercings are in for men, so ear rings are used to accessorize this outfit as well. Surprisingly, facial hair has fallen out of fashion for men.

Women have experienced radical fashion changes within the past few months. For example, long hair has recently fallen out of fashion and shorter hair has taken its place. Additionally, blond hair is not longer the most popular hair color, being replaced by red hair. Many women are cutting their hair into pixie cuts and dying said hair red. Hats have come back into fashion, be it a faux-fur Russian hat or a tiny hat placed crooked on the head. Dresses are in. Most go to the mid-thigh and are fitted to the woman. They present a boyish figure, flattening the chest and hips. Beaded necklaces, especially pearls, as well as brooches have come back into style.

Everything is very glittery, as glitter is always in.
