[PASSED] Repeal "Liberate Benevolent Capitalism"

Postby Skyrim Diplomacy » Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:59 pm

Granted, this assumes that the current legislation at vote passes, but this has been approved by the natives of the region. I'm just gonna leave this here for...oh, say a week or so? Maybe a little longer? Edits/suggestions are welcomed. Obviously the links won't be in the submitted proposal, those are just there for all you "Evidence!" screamers.

Repeal “Liberate Benevolent Capitalism”
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

Category: Repeal | Nominee: SC#92 | Proposed By: Skyrim Diplomacy

Description: The Security Council,

RECOGNIZING the intent of SC#92 to remove the raider-imposed password blocking entrance to Benevolent Capitalism and restore the region to the native nations,

APPLAUDING that SC#92 has achieved this goal and removed the password from Benevolent Capitalism, allowing the rightful inhabitants of the region to return and reclaim power in the region,

FEARING, however, that allowing SC#92 to stand will only pose a threat to Benevolent Capitalism and the natives within in the future by disallowing the natives to impose a password for safety,

AFFIRMING that the natives of Benevolent Capitalism wish to see SC#92 struck down,

HEREBY REPEALS SC#92, Liberate Benevolent Capitalism.

Yes, again, I thought that would be obvious. ^_^

Opposed. The whole "badge-of-honor" argument is a joke.

Any more discussion out of this? The raider group in question has fled, and natives are returning.

I'll vote against if you include the whole "badge of glory" argument. Probably pass my own repeal for the natives. >_>

Because this is a liberation, please do

Hereby Retires Liberate Benevolent Capitalism

as opposed to use of the word 'repeals'

<@Eluvatar> Why is SkyDip such a purist raiderist
<+frattastan> Because his region was never raided.
<+maxbarry> EarthAway: I guess I might dabble in raiding just to experience it better, but I would not like to raid regions of natives, so I'd probably be more interested in defense and liberations

Retires? That's a bit goofy sounding in my mind. It's a repeal, why not say that?

Its something i've always preferred.

For example

"HEREBY retires Security Council Resolution #6 "Liberate Feudal Japan". "

as we saw there.

and then
"HEREBY RETIRES SC#48 "Liberate Wonderful Paradise"."

So yeah, I guess its your choice, but still.

My thoughts.

Postby The Democratic Nation of Unovia » Sat Jul 07, 2012 9:59 am

Yes, I understand repealing SC#92. I was a part of Benevolent Capitalism for a couple hours. While I was there, the people were worried about establishing a stable government. In fact, that was why I was there. I wanted to help that region get a WA representative. Once they got their WA representative, I left.
I am not sure that it should be repealed yet. The stability of their government is still in question. After all, the previous WA representative before this one was removed quickly from the position.
The stability of Benevolent Capitalism is still in question. I think we should wait and see if the government is stable enough to stay in place before we repeal SC#92.

Give the current government sufficient time to show their capability. We cant just go on deciding about their future in a hasty manner.Lets wait and hope they will work for their own people.

I am not sure how to vote here...I just looked at the Benevolent Capitalism page, and they already have a new Delegate. With Benevolent changing hands so much, this could turn into a very bad situation for all of us.
Yet, they must be able to choose their own government.
The problem is that with the delegate always changing, the stability of their government is in question. I know for a fact that their main issue is border safety. With this instablility, their safety may be in question.
Well I hope that their current WA delegate can stay in office long enough to do something to help them. If their delegate stays in for more than a week, I will be surprised honestly.
I wish them all the best to get a stable government.

Remember, ambassadors, that you are voting for the natives right to protect themselves, not for the "stability" of their government. And the natives are on board with this resolution.

I would also prefer a slower approach to repeal liberations, as a rule. Anyhow, the natives of BC look well on their way to manage their own affairs, so Datavia votes FOR this repeal, in order to re-establish BC sovereignty. As an aside: it is a bit sad that, of late, I find no proposal that I can agree 100% with (in this case it's mostly because of the timing, though I will support it, anyway). Maybe we are all a bit in vacation mode...

I agree with the position of Datavia about the timing of the insta-repeal: it would be better if a legislation passed as soon as possibile to resolve this problem.
Said this, I vote FOR the repeal. Although the Kingdom of New Tarajan is not directly involved in the question, it's our convinction that members of a region have the right to protect themselves as they prefer.
However, in my opinion, I think the Council had to fix a point: if the BC can not find the necessary stability to implement as soon as possibile a new password, than the Council would be authorized to take another time the control of the situation, this time without the possibility to repeal its decision.

The Problem

Postby The Democratic Nation of Unovia » Sun Jul 08, 2012 10:30 am

The problem is if BC can't get a stable government, they won't be able to protect their people. The people may be for repeal, but if they can't get a government, then it should not be repealed. The people of BC need to make sure they have a balanced government before repealing.
Then again if they want it, they should get it.
I want to see how the WA representative of VAALBARA votes on this before I vote myself...
In my opinion, proof of stable government=a vote for repeal.

But I don't think it woud be possibile yet for BC to prove to have a stable government until the repeal resolution is passed.
I repeto that, for me, the solution is a sort of "ultimatum" from the Council to BC nations, as I said before: no stable government after repeal=new intromission of the Council without possibilities of repeal.

I agree New Tarajan. If they don't maintain a stable government after repeal, we should intervene again.

Please stick to debating the merits of the proposal at hand in this thread before Sedge has to swoop in and tell us to do so. ;)
