End of an Era- Pruss's Goodbye

Postby Prussia-Steinbach » Sun Jun 23, 2013 11:21 pm

My Friends:
I am not a man to 'beat around the bush,' so to speak. I am known for stating my opinions blatantly, and not censoring myself in any format. i come to the point of things in a quick and decisive manner. I will not break that tradition now. Faithful members of the Old Guard; active, involved, experienced members; new entrants; the time of the Anti-Communism Alliance has come to an end. At just over a year old, the ACA has finally decided that now is the time to stop.

I, in consultation with our most active and valued members, have decided to hereby permanently disband and dissolve the Anti-Communism Alliance, founded on the eighteenth of June, in the year of our Lord 2012. Since that day, we have been in three wars, in one of which a settlement was reached, one of which we lost, and the last of which we won. We have also engaged in prolific verbal conflict with nations across this forum, most notably with the residents of Pardes, who so effectively kept us out of their region. We have grown to a size most II alliances never dream of, and have an activity level most alliances would envy. We have had our ups and downs. We have made friends and enemies, but mostly enemies. Enemies that shall remember us until their NationStates careers are over, until they are forced to leave this internet game without any real-life consequences. We have made good enemies. Enemies we will be friends with for years to come.

We had a damn good run, men - and woman. A damn good run. We, at the moment just prior to my posting of this missive, are the most prominent role playing alliance in International Incidents. This is something I have only recently come to realise. Think about it for a moment: What NS alliance in current existence is more powerful, more well-known, more populated, more hated, and more active than the ACA?

I could not think of one either. Because there is not one.

When I founded the ACA last year, I had high hopes for it. High hopes. These hopes were not grounded in reality, with my having been on the forums for only three months. But they were hopes. They were ambitions I was firmly dedicated to seeing achieved. If I am one thing, it is persistent. Stubborn. And that aspect of my personality, off-putting to so many, finally worked to my advantage. An alliance founded by two newbs and an inactive 2007er became the single most powerful organisation within the NationStates role playing community in the time span of a few months. And God damn it, I am so fucking proud of you all. Every single one of you.

I am thankful for everything every single one of you has given to the ACA. Hippo, we may have turned our backs on you when you needed us, but let me tell you, you were one of the most active, devoted, and valued members of this league. I hope you knew that. Castille, ya dirty Mormon, you gave your all for us. A military power that wasn't afraid to step into anything, guns blazing. NB, you became one of my best friends on NS. You became, literally, the most active and influential member of the ACA. Good job. Trans, you significantly helped us gain legitimacy, being a mod and whatnot. I was on a high the entire night you applied. Nach, you were an active and good founder, until you had to go off and join the Marine Corps. Thank you for valuing your country more than a silly game.

I value every single one of you for each of your talents. I appreciate everything each one of you has given to this organisation. I loved the ACA, even when it was just a seedling in the back of my mind. And you loved it too. I love you all for it. You are what makes the ACA. Not the randomly-active founders, not the anti-ACA bloc, not the undedicated comers-and-goers. You. The normal, common, ACA member states. You pushed us into glory. You made us what we are: An experienced, tried, well-respected entity that people think twice about fucking with. It's because of you.

Don't try to change my mind, and please, don't attempt to re-found the Alliance. We had a good run. We did what we set out to do: Have a good time fighting those filthy Reds. We grew beyond what anyone thought we would, and we lasted longer than anyone thought we would. All those doubters? Our one-year anniversary and sheer prominence in this forum was a big, fat middle finger, shoved in their faces. It was a big ol' 'fuck you' to anyone who said or thought we wouldn't last, and would be plowed under before the summer was out. Who thought we were a fad. A n00b gr00p. We showed 'em, boys, we showed 'em.

I have one, singular thing to ask of you, before you go into your respective lives: Don't let the Anti-Communism Alliance die. A lot of people are going to be partying, ICly and OoCly, because we're finally gone. We were a thorn - nay, a sharpened log - in their sides for a long time, and we have been removed. By ourselves. Don't let them get to you. Keep the memory of our time here alive. Mention it in future RPs. Discuss it on IRC. Keep it in your sig. But I want the summer newcomers of 2016 to have heard of the ACA before they go back to school. I want the ACA to have been one of the things the II old-timers talk about when they're reminiscing about the 'good ol' days.' I never want the spirit of the ACA to die. Keep it alive. Keep our mission, our purpose, going. Never give up on the Counterrevolution.

I will finish this farewell address unceremoniously, as is my custom. Thanks, guys, for the really-fucking-awesome time. You're great. Now get out there and kill some Commies.

Let Anti-Communism Reign!
Chosen by the People, Favoured by God, and Appointed by All Those Well-Meaning,
An Ideology Opposed to the Left shall Forever be Firmly Planted in the Right.

Based on my discussions with Pruss in the ACA channel two nights ago, this is not a joke.

This comes at a surprise to myself and the ACA as a whole. I would have appreciated it if you talked to me first before making a decision, I am a founder after all, but it is what it is. We had a good run and I am proud to have served with you, Pruss, under the ACA flag. As this chapter closes, I hope a new one will open and the Germanic brothers will rise again. Than you for everything, Pruss. Semper Fi.

Wow, that's sad. I just joined the ACA and then it dissolves. Oh well, in the five minutes I had here, it was a fun run.
