What is the religion makeup of your country?

Postby Sanctus Pacis » Mon Sep 28, 2009 9:23 pm

Sanctus Pacis is:

90% Roman Catholic
3% Christian (any other type of Christian that isn't Catholic)
7% Wiccan

Athiests can not become citizens in our country, but they can come to visit.

King Ortega (2006-Present)
"The first way to stop racism is to not be offended by it."
"If someone has to resort to a hallucinogen to cope with life's problems or find inspiration, they do not deserve the happiness it gives them."
"Music today was better before we were born. Despite having no context with which to state this opinion I can safely say all music made today sucks."
King Aladín (1430-1447)
"Keep your blade from an innocent, for they will die a martyr, and you will become nothing but a sinner."
"If a man is condemned to death, do not torture nor make him face a painful death, for if he had committed such a vile thing that he need be sentenced to death, he will be tortured in Hell for his insolence."

93.5% Roman Catholic, 2% Jehovah's Witnesses, 0.5% Mennonite, 1% other Christian, 2% other or unspecified, 1% none/agnostic, less than 1% atheist.
This nation does NOT reflect my RL views.

Religion is considered symptomatic of cognitive dysfunction. It is permissible to refuse treatment for theistic delusions, but to do so is to accept severely limited career options. We are not inclined to allow sufferers to teach children, for instance. Official counts have less than 1% of the Domain's citizens identifying with any particular religion (those damn Violetists keep spring back up every few years, though), but a certain amount of untruthfulness is to be expected. Conservative estimates put the number of sufferers as high as 8%, which the government considers unacceptable.

There was an attempt some years back to implement a state "rational religion" centered around the Doctor and his teachings. The attempt was unsuccessful, and while the Doctor is considered the model to which all citizens should aspire, he is not a supernatural entity and should not be "worshipped" as such. Unfortunates with these delusions are included in the 8% figure above.

National Church:

Imperial United Commissariate Church of Atheism - 99.8%

All national citizens at the time of their birth are registered under the national church, though many choose not to practice.

Other:

0.2%

The portion of people not registered represent the small number of foreigners permitted to enter the country each year. While they are not required at this time to register with the national church there are currently no other religions officially recognized within the borders of the Commissariate.

The Earth is a very small stage in a vast cosmic arena. Think of the rivers of blood spilled by all those generals and emperors so that, in glory and triumph, they could become the momentary masters of a fraction of a dot. Think of the endless cruelties visited by the inhabitants of one corner of this pixel on the scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner, how frequent their misunderstandings, how eager they are to kill one another, how fervent their hatreds.- Carl Sagan

We have pretty high taxes in Fatatatutti, but we don't have money to waste on counting how many people follow what religion.

EDIT: change of policy
Nobody is allowed to claim the same religion as anyone before him, therefore all people must search or invent a personal religion.

No, we simply have adopted a state religion of Atheism, that yes is a contradiction but we are not a Theocracy since we don't have a god nor is our nation influenced by one.

Theocracy and a state religion are different.

We've simply formed a religion to not worship god, ensuring his continued non-existence in the nation.

No Religion

Postby Cinistra » Tue Sep 29, 2009 5:09 am

Cinistra is atheist. Religious sects are prosecuted. Religious activists are sent to work camps for education.
"Send forth all legions! Do not stop the attack until the city is taken! Slay them all!"
>Can I invade other people's regions?

Yes. The practice of "region crashing," where a group of nations all move to a region with the aim of seizing the WA Delegate position, is part of the game. Certain groups within NationStates are particularly adroit at this, and can attack very quickly.
>Once I've taken over a region, can I eject everyone else?

You can try. Invader Delegates tend to have very little Regional Influence, which makes ejecting long-time residents difficult. But Delegates can be as kind, generous, evil, or despotic as they wish. It's up to regional residents to elect good Delegates.
