I live in an area with the highest teenage pregnancy rates in the country and my country has one of the highest rates of any developed nation.

That should give a good idea of the situation.

I'm told that nowadays girls in school are giving blowjobs in the bathroom for help with their math homework.

I'm really wishing that I was going to school now, rather than when I did.

Prior to 2001, teen births were down, incidents of STD were down and abortion rates were down. Eight years later of defunding sex education in favor of "abstinence-only" propaganda, and teen births are up, incidents of STDs are up and abortion rates are up.

Telling people not to have sex is a good idea, but it's not the only way we can do it. The so-called "rainbow parties" where young children form groups to have sex isn't the problem, it's the mysticism we surround the act. Give children good information about what it means, why they should wait and what they should do when they stop waiting and you'll have a society with a much healthier attitude toward sex. Right now it's one of those "rites of passage" where children sneak out of their parents home to do the forbidden deed. How is this healthy?

Why? It used to be that couples held off on marriage until the woman had conceived to demonstrate her fertility.

In Czardas the age of consent is 18. Thus, technically anyone who has sex with someone under 18 is committing a crime, including two minors having sex with each other. However, this law is rather outdated and rarely enforced, and will likely be overwritten by the currently in-progress Constitution of Czardas, if the Actionists get their way.

In the United States, teen pregnancy is a problem, although mostly due to a lack of adequate education and access to contraception.

I don't have any doubt that you have a source for that information (and I don't say that sarcastically), but it would be nice if you provided some links or something. That's a fairly bold claim to make, and is not intuitive knowledge.

As for the original topic, there is certainly a sort of stigma in the youth of today that tells them that "waiting until marriage to have sex is lame" and that being a virgin is akin to being socially inept. This is sort of a bummer. I wouldn't go as far as to say they SHOULD wait, just that it shouldn't be something that people are judged on so harshly. People shouldn't be critical of you for choosing to be abstinent, but since they are kids who want to fit in feel it's necessary to have sex in their youth.

But yeah, it's definitely prevalent now.

You mean, before lunch?

As a sort of appetizer?

Times have indeed changed; we used to wait until the weekend.

Teen Birth Rate Rises in U.S., Reversing a 14-Year Decline
Sexually Transmitted Diseases in the US

I can't find the article I read on abortion rates, since everybody seems to want to stop calculating at 2006 when births started rising again.

Teaching abstinence is a good way to delay sexual activity, which is why I included it as a part of sex education. The problem is when we limit our sex education to "for god's sake, don't do it!" we fail to provide our children with the information they need when they ultimately decide to do it after all.

Sex is a fundamental biological urge, one that few people can ignore. Telling children not to have sex is like telling them not to breathe. You might get them to hold their breath for a while, but sooner or later they're going to start up whether you like it or not. Best to acknowledge the reality of the situation and give them good reasons why they should wait while also arming them with information on what to do once they start. By "what to do" I don't mean pulling out the Kama Sutra, I mean educating them on pitfalls and how to avoid them with contraception and barrier methods.

Nah bro, it's involuntary. You can't hold your breath long enough to pass out.

I mean, unless you gag yourself or something.

I was heavily implying that I intended to shoot the person whilst holding their breath with the shotgun, thus rendering them incapable of drawing further breath, thus negating the notion that breathing would resume despite my opposition.

EDIT: Well not really. I started to edit the sentence to correct some noun-verb association discrepancies, but I decided I like it how it is. Would I shoot them whist holding my own breath, or while they held theirs? Would I be holding their breath for them? YOU'LL NEVER KNOW!

I gave a guy a blowjob when I was younger. I regret it now though.

People around here do it all the time. It's interesting to see the see the affects it has later on your life. Just the otherday I was at Wal-Mart and this is how it went.

Cashier (Looking very, very depressed): "Hey.. I know you from school" Said in a very "bitchy" way.
Person I was with: "Yeah, I know you as well. You were that whore that slept with everyone"
Cashier: -cries-

Was pretty interesting.

She was being slow as heck.
