[DRAFT] Commend The Black Riders

Postby Little Tralfamadore » Tue Jun 05, 2012 2:27 pm

Commend The Black RIders

RECOGNIZING The Black Riders attempts to educate and train other nations in order they may expand their views and recognize other possible ideologies.

IMPRESSED by The Black Riders recent "Operation Marathon", where The Black Riders were able to consolidate 26 separate little nations into a giant world power capable of long term viability and global influence.

GRATEFUL of the frequent invasions conducted weekly by The Black Riders at great cost to themselves. These wargames allow other nations to test themselves and to learn how to improve their weakness while focusing on their strengths.

OVERWHELMED by The Black Riders encouragement of other nations to follow in their example, helping other regions to improve themselves.

AMAZED by The Black Riders ability to be democratically elected to the role of delegate and afterwards go the extra effort so that the regions have their factbooks adjusted showing solidarity with all the members of the Empire.

UNDERSTANDING that The Black Riders were forced to remove those native nations which could not accept the influx of immigrants especially after those immigrants were able to gain political power. The Black Riders help show that immigrants were no less deserving of rights than natives.

PLEASED by The Black Riders ability to promote Free Spech by maintaining a private forum where one could speak their mind. Their ability to retain their anonymity and prevent spies from gaining access is something all strive to follow.

HEREBY commends The Black Riders

it is all a matter of perspective. History tells a different story than the present.

With apologies to Jefferson and Paul.

changed the formatting to be less rude. Tweaked wording.

...is this a puppet of this author, or is your formatting just alarmingly close to plagiarized?

You can not plagiarize a format.
It was obviously and admittedly inspired by Jefferson and Paul's proposal.
Think of it as a parody or a a Fair Use. In either case it teaches a valuable lesson and is a perfectly valid proposal.

I did okay the content with a mod before posting. Didn't mention duplicating format but then other proposals have much the same format. The use of the image, the wording, the capital letter all pretty much the same.

Mm, well then, let's get down to brass tacts. This proposal is illegal as written.

An operation that brings to mind Alexander The Great.

This is an R4 violation. Additionally, you should take out the all the region tags except the first instance, especially since this is all mentioning the same region over and over. Lastly, there are minor grammatical and punctuation errors throughout. I would give it a thorough read-through before proceeding.

OVERWHELMED by The Black Riders encouragement of other nations to also help test their fellow nations in order to weed out the ineffective and weak, leaving the strong behind for the betterment of all.

Good luck getting any defender or previously raided region to vote for this with that section.

Psh, who needs the defender vote? It's not like they run the Security Council.

Commend a raider region? One of the odder things I've seen in the halls of the SC.

 to the person who drafted this.

TBR is getting commended and condemned in the same week. Nice.

It would be quite interesting indeed if we got both commended and condemned in the same short time frame.

I doubt this proposal will get very far, but it definitely has my full support!

You know who else used arguments like that? The likes of Hitler and Stalin. That statement is extremely Darwinian and might not go over too well with more moderate nations. I would suggest revising this argument. And as DYP stated earlier,

There are no such things as "good guys" and "bad guys". To say so is a bit naive. With that said, it would be quite interesting to see this passed in the SC, given the defender-aligned monopoly on the SC.

History can and does change the outlook of a region.

Look at Alexander the Great, King Kamehameha, and others.

Today they are put on pedestals and revered.

Why? Because they were successful at their own "Operation Marathon" They were able to unite various groups into one just as The Black Riders did.
Of course King Kamehameha who united each of the separate independent nations of Hawaii into one group didn't do so by his charm and wit. He did so by conquering. He did so by taking his warriors and raped, pillage, plunders, and slaughtered until there was no one to say no.

While today he and others like him are practically worshiped you can rest assure that during their conquests they were not quite so universally loved.

Same as the Black Riders. Their Operation Marathon could be views as combining 26 small ineffective regions into a powerhouse to be reckoned with. Many 100's of years from now the people of the Black Rider Empire will probably comment those early Riders.

Never underestimate the power of cynicism, pessimism and negativity to prevent terrible things from happening. Only idealists try to build the future on a mountain of bodies.

The Thing to Remember About NationStates is that it is an almost entirely social game - fundamentally, you have no power beyond your own ability to convince people to go along with your ideas. In that sense, even the most dictatorial region is fundamentally democratic.

Supported if only for the possibility that the Black Riders may be both condemned an commended. When asked for clarification as to why the representative of Stalltopia supported this resolution he responded, "For the lolz."

So, essentially it's the Huns, the Mongols, and the Vikings? Gee, really the people we should be commending.

And today we do commend and revere them.

Vikings are heroes to many people. Their tales still entertain and impress us as do their vast number of accomplishments.
The same could be said for the Huns and the Mongols. Attilla the Hun, Genghis Khan are two universally known names. Respected for their actions and for the legacy. Again, that is today's view.
