Computers are more prone because they are put through greater extremes than us. Also we are working on reducing that in them as well.

And yet they're also really fragile when it comes to a fair number rudimentary conditions here on planet Earth that we fleshy critters can shrug off with little-to-no difficulty. Such as the inevitable infiltration of water. Or dust. Or freeze-thaw action. We have to go out of our way to provide dry, climate-controlled environments for electronics if we expect long lifespans out of them.

Besides which, I think Xenoglade was talking more about a computational issue with computers rather than physical.

I'm going to put it a little later, if he was a child of the 80s (as I am) he'd also know a world before video stores and wouldn't then think that it's one of those age old institutions lost to this world but instead a blip.

Agree. I was born in 88, and video stores were always around. Then they weren't. I missed the local one until we got decent internet, then all was well.

There was a store that opened when I was a kid at the end of my neighborhood that I would bike to every day and eat a giant candy bar and rent movies the woman who owned the store didn't have the sense not to rent to me. If that bastard hadn't done that I might have learned a decent trade and be svelte and attractive.

I find it funny that in an anti-technology thread (unless I missed an earlier one), it took 8 pages for someone to make a Unabomber reference, lol.

Anyone who proclaims the need to destroy technology while using said technology regularly is a fucking hypocrite.

I don't need to know anything about biology to know that I can, and have been immobilized/disoriented by sudden pain.

so you were unaware of an injury and your body made you stop and figure out how you seriously hurt yourself, when no cause was apparent.
I have been gored, bitten, and stabbed (well had a piece of my ear cut off), And I can tell you I never was immobilized by the pain, quite the opposite I barely even feel the pain until I calmed down. adrenaline is a hell of a drug.

Alright. I never got an adrenaline rush. I had a chest infection that felt like someone stabbed me. I couldn't move. I couldn't do anything, I quite litterally stopped in the middle of flipping over a couch. I landed and sat for almost 5 minutes without moving before the pain went away.

It's a proven effect, that pain can stop people.

pain can stop from doing things that injury your body when you don't need to do those things, yea, that is what it is for.
if you had been stressed, say by a predator or a rock slide, you know things that actually put your life in danger you would never have been stopped.
