Yeah, it's still a relatively new addition. Still want what I posted above, as an upgrade though. :)

With what would I group education? I was thinking politics, but that seems a bit far from education.

If you're gonna write something about education, I would put it in "Miscellaneous." If you want, you could put it in "Culture," if it's gonna be about what is taught to them.

They're just what people rank your factbook as. They're like likes and dislikes on FaceBook. If you have a lot of flags up, then many people like your factbook entry; if you have a lot of flags down, then many people don't like it as much.

Edit: They are, in and of themselves, worthless and meaningless, but it indicates to readers how much people enjoyed your factbook, and you may like the little form of competition they provide.

It is actually pretty customisable, in that you can modify it according to your liking. If you want to, you can have a look at my factbook here:

To check the coding so that you can copy-paste it to your own template thread - by using the preview option before posting - you can have a look at my coding here:

  • For the coding of my forum factbook, you can use the 'quote' option available on the upper right side of the opening post of the factbook thread. If you need further help, let me know.
  • For the coding of my in-game factbook, you can have a look here: click me!

On top of that; I would like to show you another in-game factbook that you may like (though I would recommend strongly for you to telegram the author of the factbook before using his coding, as I myself don't know whether he would like for you to copy his code without asking or even after asking):

I do have a bug in my Factbook which has been reported here: viewtopic.php?f=15&t=219591

Short story: This link ( http://nswiki.net/index.php?title=Category:Lanos ) does not parse on the Factbook when using the BBCode [url] function.

The problem seems to me on NSWiki's end, really, as the colon character shouldn't be used in actual urls. You can make the url 'safe' by replacing ':' with '%3A', so that the link would now be http://nswiki.net/index.php?title=Category%3ALanos. And to prove that it works, see here.

That doesn't fix the fact that ':' doesn't work in the urls, but as it isn't meant to, I think it's an acceptable compromise.

May I make a suggestion?

I feel we, as factbook owners, ought to be able to see who has approved and disapproved our factbooks via the flag system. I feel that this ought to apply only to the owner himself, so that he sees who has approved and disapproved his own factbook and that he should not be able to see this all on the other owners' factbooks but only for his.

I'd prefer to keep it anonymous. If votes are visible, even if only to the author, it becomes a political mechanism and less likely to be unbiased.

How would it serve as a political mechanism? If there's a bunch of down-flags, and it's a group of people, who don't like you on the Forum, you essentially know they are doing that because they don't like you, rather than the factbook. I don't think people would want a reputation of being vindictive and base like that, so I don't think they would do that. And it allows you to know whether or not one person is targeting your factbook solely by, let's say, using his puppets against it or everyone in his region.

And it would be nice to know who doesn't like your factbook and who does. That way you can ask those who like it what they like about it and how you can improve it. To those who don't like it, you can ask what they don't like so as to improve it.

It's all in good nature. And, if for some reason you believe that system is being abused, you could technically remove it and stop it. I mean, I think it would be a nice thing to try out, and if the people like it, maybe you could keep it. If they don't, then you can get rid of it.
