What do your people usually eat?

Postby Constaniana » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:35 pm

What is the common foods your Nation has? Is it a blend of different ethnics foods merging, or something developed in isolation? How does it vary throughout your nation?
A Constanian starts his day with a hearty breakfast, usually with fried eggs, boiled potatoes, walnuts (if they're in season), toast with butter or honey, and several strips of crispy bacon with barley water. For lunch, he has fried fish, which have become much more widespread thanks to refrigeration cars allowing the transport of fresh fish from the sea via the advanced railway infrastructure, a sausage roll, and a flask of more barley water. For dinner he usually has meat pie, Sausages, chips, or some other filling meaty dish, with a good apple pie for dessert(though usually only on weekends). Recently a glorious beverage called Irn Bru has gained popularity, most noticeably for its indescribable fantastic flavour.

Old bread, cheese, more old bread, and old moldy...BREAD.
The military meanwhile gets rations. Rations are essentially edible cardboard.
We have very little agriculture and refuse to import, so everyone suffers. Still better than relying on dirty foreigners.

Food

Postby Gingeryness » Sun Mar 11, 2012 6:49 pm

The people in Gingeryness enjoy a small breakfast of yogurt, bread or a bagel, and either eggs or smoked salmon. For lunch, a large sandwich is prepared, usually made of roast beef, salami, turkey, and mozzarella cheese with either water or club soda with cherry or cranberry juice. A heart dinner is prepared consisting of steak, chicken, or salmon with fresh rolls and salad with tomatoes and olives. Most of the breads, cheese, vegetables, and fruits are grown in the country.

Robotic-o-Rotica is kind of what you'd expect from a nation of robots.
First, you have the kind that run on gas/oil/general fossil fuels.
Next, you have the electricity eating kind. Solar and wind have become popular.
Last, there's the ones that run on alcohol. Yes, like Bender.

Since Scandigrad is an island, seafood is quite popular, and the fishing industry is quite strong. The interior does have a healthy supply of typical livestock. A typical Scandigradian dinner will include a fillet of fish, spinach, and brown rice.

Bears are somewhat fond of pastries, and also survive on a heavily meat-based diet. They are also somewhat obsessed with fish, and, for pandas, bamboo.

There is also a famous Radiatian delicacy called "Yakkum" which is, well, exactly what it sounds like....

The weekly rations for citizens of the Commonwealth are as follows;

1/3 of a loaf of bread (Mouldy or not, depending on the food situation)
2 pints of milk (As above)
10 rashers of bacon (As above)
14 sachets of synthetic tea
1 1lbs box of synthetic sugar
3 tins of vegetables (Note: As our food situation is so desperate, the potatoes are just black lumps, and the other stuff is also withered and off coloured.)
4 eggs (When available)
5 oz of butter/margarine (As above)

When the situation gets really bad the government has contingency plans for a new 'Hu-man' brand meat product.

Fish, shellfish, vegetables, mushrooms, seaweed, and some fruits. Avocados are a favorite. Rich people eat some meat, which is a great luxury.

Meridians tend to eat a "paleo diet", low in carbohydrates and sugars, and relatively high in fats and protein.

Seafood and various fruits and grains are generally most common, but the mountainous parts of the nation also consume quite a bit of beef.

Products made from barley, wheat, lamb, mutton, duck, goose, dates, figs, and watermelons are the most commonly consumed. In coastal areas a little fish is as well.
