Whatever the natives of the region want... I am FOR this resolution, even though I think the natives may be making a mistake.

This counts as their big chance to help themselves. Sometime defenders "don't see" raids because the natives never bothered doing anything after the last one :P

Actually we don't know what the natives want as a group, only what their delegate wants, though I could agree that the delegate's wishes matter a lot. Anyway, Catholic (temporarily) forfeited its independence in front of the SC in order to regain it. So now the wishes of the natives count, of course, but I think that the timing of the decision still is in the SC hands, and we are rushing a little at that.

Oh do make your minds up!

The previous PW was taken down BEFORE the liberate passed, allowing more folk to enter. If this passes there is nothing to stop another 'sleeper' gaining the delegateship & imposing a PW. Having the power to PW won't stop update raiders only having it on all the time will do that & you said you wanted freedom of movement.

None of the defenders helped us during the last raid. (TITO had a few nations that tried to defend the region during the update when it was taken over, but there were too few of them.) In our opinion, we'd rather have the means to defend ourselves because we highly doubt that we'd be able to get help from anyone else. With password protection, we've stopped raids in the past. While I've resided in Catholic, defenders never once have stopped a raid or liberated the region.

I still oppose the repeal because, y'know, a raider's gotta do what a raider's gotta do, but this is an argument in its favor that I can endorse. Defenders get all the glory for just saying they tried to do something; whether they actually do anything or not is beside the point, and nine times out of ten they're ineffective. So, yes, indeed, password protection would be a lot more help for Catholic than relying on defender help. Had DEN Central Command not left of their own accord they would probably still be there.

But password protection can be a blessing and a curse, just as a liberation can be. Catholic was liberated and probably didn't even need to be, and it may have been that raiders wanted the region liberated. Then again, maybe raiders just wanted to chuckle while Mahaj and Unibot said "Jump!" and the Security Council asked "How high?!" Who knows? But I would at least consider the possibility, friends, that there are at least some raiders who would like to see the password reinstated now. Then again, maybe we just want to chuckle watching the Security Council reverse itself just a few days later.

I, Lothar Prolark, World Assembly Delegate for Europeia will be voting [b]AYE/REPEAL for this Liberation after a 14/6 internal vote. Although we, are a region, find the language and a particular clause disappointing, the language used in the initial Liberation was more so. This repeal stands as the better of the two and we are glad to see rid of it - we take this as a decent result.

It is also mildly disappointing to see that the Security Council is almost being used as a toy by some, we note that this Liberation/Repeal occurred in less than a fortnight with the same voices behind both sides. We hope that other members of the World Assembly feel this same way and that some realise that they are being used as 'voting pawns' to do these people's bidding. The recently championed Liberation is now the quietly fading Liberation without so much as a whimper. We also hope that other World Assembly members and their Delegates, at the next one, view these Liberations and other Condemnations with a greater level of scepticism than before.

Yes, especially since the next one will probably be the Delegate from Catholic (or Christian Democrats, or defenders, but I repeat myself) back here in a matter of weeks if not days asking the Security Council to re-liberate the region. Does anyone think that there aren't at least some raiders jumping at the chance to humiliate defenders and the Security Council -- but again, I repeat myself -- by re-raiding Catholic and reimposing password protection?

I totally agree with my colleague from Europeia. As the representative of a neutral region, it is disappointing to the language used within resolutions utilized as a tool in the on-going struggle between raiders and defenders. However, I support the concept of repealing the original resolution and therefore intend to vote aye.

Catholic Calamity Keeps Olffrick Residents in Stitches
Janet Celeste, Editor-In-Chief, The Olffrick Enquirer

News of the Olffrick Delegation's vote against repealing Security Council Resolution "Liberate Catholic" swept Olffrick City as late night comedians enter their second week of poking fun at this debacle. Comedian Wren Gilroy described the situation an absolute gold mine of laughs. Jokes aside Gilroy points to the exact reasons the Olffrick Delegation offered in their vote against the repeal.

"Most people just smack their foreheads when they look at a situation where a WA Delegate mismanaged a region so badly that raiders took over their region. Then after the Security Council rescues them, they wish to return to the status quo. Has anyone questioned Devoted Decons' leadership qualifications? Has Devoted Decons' been vetted, and how can Devoted Decons' prove that this won't happen under their watch again?" asks Gilroy.

Gilroy and fellow comedian Jason Whipplebach shared their plans to start work on an off-Olffieway musical entitled, Even Catholics Didn't Expect the DEN Inquisition. Casting is projected to begin between late March to mid April with opening shows beginning in June.
