Who would enjoy seeing a movie on reels?

Postby The Bikini Archipelago » Sat Mar 03, 2012 2:50 pm

Hi...Would you rather watch a movie on a film reel or would you rather watch one on home video instead. I asked this because I know even in movie theaters, film is obsolete, and I wanted to put my $0.05 saying that I am disappointed at the entire movie industry for doing such a thing. Movie theaters need to stick to reels, DVDs and streaming are for home viewing and misc. showings. I ENJOY seeing movies on reels as a hobby of sorts. I know that's archaic for a 20 year old male to be interested in, but I just see it as one of the best ways to watch a movie. What the industry is pushing is yet another example of how life, particularly American, is being turned upside down for the bad reasons.

I prefer watching a movie in a theater - but I seldom do, simply because it's easier to watch a DVD. As for film vs. other ways, I didn't know that theaters were abandoning film already (i haven't been to a theater in a while). But film is kind of an obsolete technology, I'm afraid.

Complaining about society abandoning film reels is like complaining about it abandoning Polaroid pictures, or floppy disks, or cassette tapes. It's obsolete technology, and there is no reason to hold onto it.

The still adverts at the beginning were better than the commercials they have now.

Other than that though...

Vinyl is the best medium and anyone who disagrees probably enjoys dubstep and is therefore an unscrupulous blaggard who should be shouted down at any opportunity.

yeah I would sounds very romantic.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.

Why can't I simply be rich enough to watch a reel movie at home in my own cinema?

But no going to the cinema is a load of bollocks, the reel thing itself is actually nice but then I am paying outrageous prices to sit in a crowded theatre with strangers which is just stress.

Of course that isn't how we attach value to things especially in art or really anything that we derive enjoyment from

???

my Nephews birthday was spent at a theatre... the family got a tour of the projection room and they still used Reels.

and the reason why you can't watch reel movies at home is because one theatrical movie uses 3 or 4 reels of film.

as to the question...

I prefer Reel movies... looks better for some reason.
on the other hand... I have another set of fingers.

aye, film is apparently becoming obsolete. I think that it will continue to be used by profesionals and aficionados as the quality and feel are still unreacheable digitally.

Reels at home. :p

In actually, I don't care, because I'm not fond of movies much anyway.
I’m mostly here for... something to do, I suppose.

Personally, I feel that one really only gets the full effect of a movie in a theater. Hopefully, one that is not full of morons who won't STFU.

movie houses were ok before the got rediculously over the top greedy. as for the movies themselves, that they want a golden arm and a let to go see, it used to be only 90% of them were crap. now its closer to 98%.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.
