Imagine, just for a second, what your life would be like if the Griffincrest Corporation decided to prey upon your country? Think of the emotions and thoughts that would run through your mind, what would it feel like?
Imagine yourself sitting in class or at home or at work. The newspaper decries oil has been found, and the government is eager to take in bids from companies around the world. Today is the day the nation gets rich! Or so the leaders say. Already, co-workers or classmates begin mumbling the name Griffincrest. Maybe you know of them, or maybe you don’t. Regardless, you don’t like what you hear. Days go by, and the rumors of Griffincrest coming begin to grow. The government tries to downplay this as best as they could, but already they are beginning to mobilize forces secretly to avoid a panic.
Finally, it comes to a boiling point. Your leader announces that hostilities have broken out, and an army of mercenaries is heading towards your shores to rape and pillage, and drain the country of its greatness. Don’t worry, the president assures you that a coalition of other smaller nations has formed and they swear to protect your beaches, no matter what the costs. Maybe this helps to put you at ease, you have faith in your military and that of your nation’s allies, or maybe you have heard more rumors about what the foreign corporation is capable of. What do you do? Do you rush to a recruiting station? Do you continue business as usual, hoping for it all to go away? Do you panic and flee to the woods? All of these ideas may cross your mind as you hear the Corporate fleet is getting ever closer to your shores.
Then comes the news, your nations navy, once the proud symbol of your peoples military might, has been smashed, along with the fleets of the coalition. Now comes the feeling of imminent doom. You look to your mother, sister, girlfriend, or wife, and you wonder how you can protect them. You know these mercenaries will not hesitate to rape the first woman they come across and you cannot bear for such a fate to befall a woman you care so much about. By now, you have heard much of these black clad mercenaries and what they are capable of, and doubt that the armed forces of your nation and the coalition can stop them.
The next day the bombs start falling. A nation friendly with Griffincrest has undertaken a civilian bombing campaign, and you are jolted from your bed. Outside, smoke fills the streets as you hear screams and sirens from all directions. Maybe you will run outside, to look up and see the aircraft of some strange nation releasing yet another devastating payload on the defenseless people of your city, or maybe you rush to comfort your family. Things that you once took for granted, simple things like the house across the street or the overpass your drive on everyday are no more, and it is now undeniable that your life will never be the same. Where is the air force you wonder? Then you realize, they are gone. The Corporate forces now have near total dominance and all you can do is sit and wait for the inevitable boot knocking in your door. What do you do? How do you act?
Well here, in this thread, I urge you people to get those creative juices flowing. Just how would you respond if you were put in a situation like the one above, if Griffincrest was a real company and was running rampant through the world, or if you were yourself, stuck in the horrifying world of nationstates.
Edit: I feel I need to clarify something here. This is not a narcisism trip as many of you seem to believe, it is a creative writing exercise. I am not saying I can and will conquer your nation, not by any means. I am merely asking you to imagine yourself, not the countless citizens of your NS nation, in a situation where mercenaries were pouring into the place you call home, be it your NS nation or some other one. Please, do not take this as some kind of thread saying I am capable of owning NS, I understand this can be no more far from the truth. It was based on an assignment I had asking us to picture ourselves as an Iraqi citizen living in Baghdad when the Second Gulf War broke out. This is really all I was asking for, to imagine you, yourself, in some nameless NS nation about to be struck by thousands of mercenaries. If you took this the wrong way I apologize.
