Alcohol in your nation

Postby The Most Blessed Republic of Sebast » Mon Dec 26, 2011 5:51 pm

In Sebast children from the age of 7 regularly drink wine with their parents and a jug of wine is present at all meals. In some respects it's more common than water !

1. Is alcohol legal in your nation?
2. legal drinking age?
3. What beverage do your people enjoy the most?

In Bafuria, it is legal to sell and give people over the age of 18 alcohol. There is no drinking age.
Beer is the beverage of choice.

We are bound by Vodkarian Law, and are part of the Vodkarian Union. We drink at least two shots of vodka a day, as required (although, almost everyone follows the Law voluntarily). Long Live the Vodkarian Union!! Long Live the High King!! Long Live Ruslka!!

Now, to answer your questions:

1. is alchol legal in your nation?
It is compulsory.

2. legal drinking age?
Drinking Ages are oppressive Laws. We allow all to drink.

3. What beverage do your people enjoy the most?
Rum is the drink of choice in Eurarcta, although people also enjoy Rusklan Vodka and Mexispanish Tequila

Alcohol is usually only consumed at rituals, and given only in small amounts to children. Mead is fairly common, though occasionally we trade for wine infused with Magickal energy to increase the power of the ritual and to attract Spirits.

1. is alcohol legal in your nation?
Yes, and very popular. Somewhat restricted by age - children under 14 may not drink in public drinking establishments, and those between 14 and 17 must be accompanied by an adult over 24.
2. legal drinking age?
See above.
3. What beverage do your people enjoy the most?
From Alcohol of Inutoland:
Inutolanders drink beer and wine and other kinds of Western alcoholic drinks, but most of these are imports. The tropical Inuto climate is not good for growing hops, barley or grapes, so these drinks only became popular after Inutoland was opened up to the world.

Inutoland has had a number of different alcoholic drinks, though, dating back to before the start of recorded Inutolander civilisation. Of these, the most important are Putaqui (beer-like drink based on fermented quinoa grain), Icayal (tropical fruit spirit) and Cotapes (hot-fermented amaranth grain-based drink).

Yes, alcohol is legal in Saurisia. One must be 21 years or older to legally drink or purchase it. Finally, the most popular alcoholic drinks are beer, whiskey, wine, vodka, and Springwater (an indigenous drink brewed by the Dragons).

Pinewaldian Empire Drinking Customs.

Some religions in Pinewald actually require ceremonies in which the person of focus must be drunk to reach enlightenment.

Most people in Pinewald know how to prevent hangovers, big nutrient bars, loads of water and food. (actually works in real life people!)

1. Alcohol is legal, but deliberate drunkenness to severely unsafe levels is considered attempted suicide, considering some actually do this (in real life too?)
2. The legal drinking age is 18, however, similar to the real UK, light drinking is supervised by parents.
3. The type of beverage enjoyed by the Pinewaldian people depends on the race-

Wheatians (British - American Themed) Rum / beer
Tautens (German Themed) Schnapps / Wine
Koyotans (Japanese Themed) Sake / Whiskey

Legal for people 16 or older, provided that you are talking about ethyl alcohol and it isn't more than 100 proof (50% alcohol). (Note: most beers are 8-12 proof, wines 18-32 proof, and fortified wines 31-40 proof). Other types of alcohol aren't legal for consumption (as ethyl alcohol is the only type of alcohol that is safe for humans to ingest, with penalties of violating this law on the distributor and not the consumer).

Alcohol has been acknowledged as a dangerous drug in the USSW, as it can cause death in many forms, and is very addictive. A first offense of possession carries a three hundred dollar fine, every subsequent offense increases the penalty by one thousand dollars (second offense is $1300, third is $3300, etc), selling it carries a punishment of three years on police surveillance, a second offense is three years labor on federal projects, and everything after that is another five.

Alcohol products are legal in Valcluse. There is no official consumption age and it is common to see young children with a small glass of wine with lunch and dinner as social conventions here state that generally, if one becomes accustomed to alcohol at an early age, then it reduces the temptation to become blind drunk. The purchase age for alcohol is 17 years of age.

Wine is by far the most consumed alcohol product in Valcluse, due to both local and imported wines from France and Italy being increadibly cheap. The second most consumed alcoholic product is beer, followed by vodka.

Is alcohol legal in your nation?
Yes.

Legal drinking age?
We split things a bit.
- There is no legal age for consumption at home.
- With parent/guardian present, one may order a drink at a restaurant at age 10.
- Parental consent is no longer needed for restaurants at age 15; restaurants are at liberty to refuse to serve visibly intoxicated adolescents.
-Limited quantities of beer and wine may be purchased from grocery stores at age 15.
-Quantity restrictions on beer and wine are lifted and liquor may be purchased at age 16.

What beverages do your people enjoy the most?
You can find most anything most anywhere, but different types of alcoholic beverages are most popular where they're made.

Beer is very popular, but popularity is surpassed by Walnut Distill (Walnut Dis or Dis). Dis is 80 proof and drunk in shots to warm the body, null pain or after meals. These 2 alcoholic beverages are produced in Glasgia, alongside Cider, Brook (another native drink), Whiskey and Brandy. Vodka and Wine are among commonly important drinks. Most bars have a wide range of cocktails.

There is none nationally, but some prefectures and local governments have set their own. These can be as low as 10 to as high as 20. Most have none at all though. Some small towns have dry laws where alcohol is banned outright. However, alcohol is not common for cultural reasons. However, some of our prefectures are known for producing a very nice Pilsner-type beer, usually exported, but also very occasionally enjoyed here.
