Good evening, this is Wilhelm Scheer with the BBC World Service evening news

Police sources in BellRose Stadt are preparing for tomorrow's planned rally by the far right-wing Enfield Liberation Party. The ELP has failed to elect any delagates in the last 5 elections, and hope they can break their streak. Police sources are preparing for a confrontation with Extremo The Clown's Bellrose Communist Party. Traffic snarls and street puppetry are expected.

In the Parliment, a proposal to allow voters to select "None of the above" died in committee. The delegates in the committee chose to select none of the day's proposals for a floor vote. New Environmental regulation, Proposals for changing Drinking Water standards, and government office security improvements also died in committee.

For the BBC World Service, I'm Wilhelm Scheer

The economic crisis has reached the BellRose. In an effort to avoid further cuts in government spending, all funding for participation in the Regional Olympics has been cut by the Grand Duke. The money will be used to cover lost tax revenue due to a downturn in the Beef-Based Agriculture, and Book Publishing industries. Further, spending on Cloning Research has been deleted from the budget due to be submitted to Parliment for approval.

A particularly stormy session in Parliment was triggered by the Crown Loyalist party today. An attempt to draft a bail-out of several IT sector companies, and the Bellrose Country Creamery Association was defeated. However, an attempt by the Conservative Tories to slash taxes was similarly defeated.

For the BBC World Service, this is Colin Schumacher.

Good evening, this is Wilhelm Scheer with the BBC World Service evening news

The Horst Mager Platz was filled with demonstrators for much of the day. Extremo The Clown and the Bellrose Communist Party were protesting "Military Adventurism and Ecological Exploitation". Several dozen protesters were arrested for indecent exposure and misuse of home appliances. Demonstrations were concluded by the traditional 5PM start of New Year's Eve celebrations. His Nibs Own Horse Guards gave a demonstration of precision horsemanship.

In international news, His Nibs has announced a new ambassador to Gwazzaria. Eva Hoyt has been promoted from head of the Bellrose Interests section in Gwazzaria to Full Ambassador.

His Nibs has announced routine anti-submarine and air defence drills to commence on the first of January. This will test readiness of the fleet to "surge" all available ships to respond to a sudden threat.

On the lighter side, the Air Ministry dismissed today's report of Chemtrails over northern BellRose. Reports of strange contrails appearing like "Doughnuts on a rope" were dismissed. "No jet powered aircraft in our inventory produce such a contrail, nor a double-sonic boom" Flight-Leutnent Von Zinzer said in a press conference today.

For the BBC World Service, I'm Wilhelm Scheer. Prosit Neujahr Allen.

In technology news, the metrification of Bellrose continues. With the latest changes, the Metric system is now mandated in the cheese making and IT sectors.
