Displaying Past Issue Choices

Postby Lordieth » Tue Nov 29, 2011 1:25 pm

One problem I have when controlling several nations is remembering how I've answered past issues, and with keeping my individual Nations' category ratings stable. It'd be quite a task to keep track of my choices on paper, or in a spreadsheet, and rather time consuming too.

The game remembers the way we answer issues, right?

Would it be possible to change the 'Submit' button to 'Re-Submit' if we've previously picked that issue option? If the issue has been previously dismissed, then that would be handy to highlight with a 'Re-Dismiss' button too.

It would be massively helpful for maintaining or tweaking my Nations.

Interesting idea... I am not sure how you could do that without breaking the fourth wall, but it is a neat idea.

The problem is every issue even if it technically is a repeat, is its own problem. There was a terrorist strike in your nation. A month later, when you get that issue again, its a new terrorist strike. Your nation might not respond the same way the second time. Adding an option to give the same answer for the second issue makes the game a bit too technical, and takes away from the "you are a leader of some nation" side of the game.

I entirely understand what you mean.

A way of avoiding that would be having access to a history of previously answered issues, with the option number recorded alongside it.

That avoids breaking the forth wall, but it'd be more work, and would likely require sort and search functionality.

you can just record the number of the issue and the choice you made in a spreadsheet or something...

you can find the corresponding issues here: viewtopic.php?f=13&t=88

i guess that's the easiest way today...

If you are willing to decide in advance for a nation how you will answer each issue, I have released some software that will help. Basically, it answers your issues for one or more of your nations, based on some files which tell it how. This certainly could be used to keep a nation on a consistent road without you having to recall how you handled each issue.

See this post for information on the software and how to contact me to get a copy.

Requests for this software on this thread (or any other mechanism but following the instructions of that article) will be ignored.

Not all of them, no. It remembers the latest four in order to display their effects on your page, and it remembers whether you've banned or legalised various things in order to determine eligibility for some issues, but we've been told in the past -- when people have asked for the game to provide them, with a list of all their previous answers -- that that's basically it.

I would like a list of issues that have arisen, even without the answers... the reason being, that they are funny!

Not as such, no. The past four print out the results, and obviously any issue banning/legalizing/forcing something is recorded (eg: nudity banned/compulsory, gay marriage, etc), but beyond that, the game just remembers the past X issues you've had, but not how you decided them.
