The VFA Albatross/Challenge/Regional Leagues
Polar Islandstates and East Külmsaar Association Football

The VFA runs and operates the national football leagues, split into the three tier Albatross League, the two parallel divisions of the Challenge League below that, and the Regional League below that, consisting of four geographically split conferences, the premier divisions of each feed directly into the pyramid. It is by far and away the most popular league in the nation, and crowds flock to see their teams play every week. The league winner each cycle used to take part in the Ides of March Cup, a single tie semi-friendly final between the Polarian and Astograthian champions. But since the closing of the borders, that has been on hiatus.

Technically, the presence of Agheim CF would normally make it a multi-associational league, but the club have long since agreed to participate under the banner of the VFA given the relative size and strength of the EKFA, and the league is de facto a Polarian league only.

Minor Valhallan League
Bleak Rock, Cairnskillen, Fallenmark Islands, and Sint Karbijn Association Football

Whilst the national league of Bleak Rock had been going for some decades, the independence of Cairnskillen from Fallenmark and the two island nations from Lesser Valhalla both joining the Valhallan Union at the same time brought about a unique commercial and competition opportunity that it would have been foolhardy to pass up on. Alongside the subsequent addition of Sint Karbijn, the best teams from Bleak Rock, Cairnskillen, and The Fallenmark Islands all now compete in the Minor Valhallan League.

Since withdrawing from IFCF contention, the MVL is sometimes argued by its detractors as being nothing more than a feeder league for the Polarian pyramid, it is true that plenty of players from the MVL end up further north, and that many Divisjon One sides have their favoured clubs to scout in Tier I. Nonetheless, this is a distinct league, with its own rivalries, dynasties, and pageantry. Read on, and find out more.

Valhallan Hockey League

The VHL, formed for teams across the whole of the Valhallan Union, was initially set up in imitation of the success of the Federation League in football, and the sport has sky-rocketed in popularity as a result. Now vying with the rugby codes and handball for the status as the Union's second favourite sport, the league system features six divisions across two leagues arranged geographically, with the top two placed teams in each division and the best four runners up across the whole conference going through to play in the Elkjaer Playoffs.

Combined Valhallan Rugby Association - Union

Valhallans are naturally quite tall and physical people, so the CVRA Rugby Union can feature some absolutely bruising tackles. The union code is growing faster and is more popular than its league counterpart, and the die-hards tend to think of the football fans as rather lightweight. Split into two geographical conferences, the winners and runners-up of each then compete for the Grinholm Cup, the sports' highest domestic honour in the nation.

Combined Valhallan Rugby Association - League

Competing not only with ice hockey and football, but also with the rival code of union, the rugby league administrators at the CVRA decided to encourage the states to create and run a team each alongside the four minor nations in the VU, rather than have teams competing. This has led to a fantastically competitive league, full of rivalries and bruising encounters.

The BRFA are delighted to announce their fifth season of results, including their qualifiers for the next round of UICA and Rushmori competitions.

Bleak Rock has a history of four competing noble families, Hús Hreindýr of the Caribou, Hús Hrafninn of the Raven, Hvítabjörninn Hús, of the Bear, and Hús Náhvalur of the Narwhal. With heraldry and rivalries amongst them, and a complicated alliance and enemy history that reaches back hundreds of years, these four Hús used to despise each other, and fought for supremacy on the island. Those days are gone now, but the island is still roughly divided into four quarters, and teams in the league very definitely fly the flag for a particular Hús.

League Cycle VIII Preview
Season eight of the Federation and Challenge leagues, and hopes are higher than ever for our teams that a strong performance could lead to a showing on the international stage. With the Terns playing so well, fans' belief in their heroes is higher than ever, and with a bumper crop of transfers that you'll have to take my word for in the majority until I see what records I can retrieve from my dead hard drive, things are shaping up for a huge season in Polar Islandstates.

So, Robin Hjik and Alexio Del Nieran come storming into SK Franz Josef City to make a good team even stronger, and Jan Mayen retaliate by bringing in Amaechi Olsen and finally getting their hands on Zacharias Juul. Meanwhile, FC Cape St Paul sign the impressive Erathi youngster Isidoro Nao, and many youngsters and ex-Mytanar based players move abroad. Trouble in the Cotdelapomais league means we may be seeing a lot of these players back next season however.

Preview: Mytanar defender Hannes Urz will be moving across to partner Ljungberg in the centre of defence after Berg's retirement, and a strong performance will certainly be asked of him. Ormache comes into the season as captain, and the much loved Astograthi forward will see his club boosted by the arrival of none less than Robin Hjik and Alexio Del Nieran. Both are outstanding acquisitions, and SK are looking formidable once again.
Last Season: Champions.
Prediction: Disappointed to miss out on Juul, but they look stronger than ever nonetheless. 1st.

Jan Mayen Islanders
Location: Jan Mayen, Norscelt
Stadium: Victoria Stadium (51,293)
Manager: Nicolaj Koch
Captain: Niko Marek, DC
Key Player: Amaechi Olsen (SAU), ST
Preview: Nicolaj Koch's career at the club is in the balance, and another unimpressive season will surely see him without a job. They managed to finish only three points behind the title winners in the end, but the board want trophies. Amaechi Olsen has been brought in as a short term replacement for the departed Tomas Aer, and many see this as a positive step. Nonetheless, the midfield cannot claim to be the best in the league anymore following the acquisitions by SK, and Niko Marek will be looking to retire at some point in the seasons to come. Highly rated Swartaz youngster Henrik Litremmen and the versatile Erathi Vanni del Naran are sitting in the defence ready to take over the responsibility for when Marek retires, but the age of Eygenroy, Hastings, Lja, and Bosc may be a concern. Marko Krivac had an outstanding season last time around.
Last Season: 2nd.
Prediction: Koch needs to get his men motivated to save his job, but they still look nervy to me. 3rd.

FC Cape St Paul
Location: St Paul, Nunivak
Stadium: Millerntor Arena (41,592)
Manager: Baum St Weiss
Captain: Gunnar Mackenzie (BLK), ST
Key Player: Isidoro Nao (ERA), AMC
Preview: St Paul are one of the most consistent teams in the league, and finished third again last season, slotting nicely into the Globe Cup spots once again. There is real quality in this squad, with the midfield in particular impressive, and the introduction of the exciting Isidoro Nao can only serve to improve this. Gunnar Mackenzie has been handed the captain's armband following Thompson moving on, and whilst some may disagree with the hot headed player's appointment, there can be no doubting his leadership.
Last Season: 3rd.
Prediction: Impressive last season, and have made moves to improve their squad, could challenge for second come the final whistle. 2nd.

East Franz Athletic
Location: Franz Josef City, Franz Josef
Stadium: Rendahl Stadion (47,911)
Manager: Manganus Fjelden
Captain: Henning Blonqvist, ST
Key Player: Henning Tir, MC
Preview: Fjelden has taken this squad into the place it wants to be, top of the league. Berghoff and Blonqvist continue to have an almost telepathic relationship, and Diedrich Kvitchenko is one of the most exciting youth prospects in the entire league. Demy de Zooijt will be key to their performance this season, the young Mytanar keeper showing just what he was capable of last season, as will key man Henning Tir. A marvellous set of understated lynchpin performances last season won him many plaudits from critics and supporters alike.
Last Season: 4th.
Prediction: Could be another season in which they challenge but slip away, they don't seem to have the legs. 5th.

FC Axel Heiburg
Location: Axel Heiburg, Axel Heiburg
Stadium: Axel Torvig Park (25,195)

Preview: With the Haapa-Mechelin churning out talent regularly now, their financial future appears to be safe at last, and the team can start to build for the future. A planned stadium expansion is the least of it, and the signings of Merkens and van Schorel show intent, backing, and planning for the future. Wahlfleurs looks ready to go, and watch out for fleet-footed left winger Kjetil Huytspurr, who looks lets to make his big impression this season after showing his potential with the U-21 Terns side.
Last Season: 5th.
Prediction: If the youngsters gel well and keep their heads, they'll be a force to reckon with and should make the top five again. 4th.

FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
Location: Bjarnarey, Norscelt
Stadium: The Barge (28,441)
Manager: Thomas Celik
Captain: Eric Mallstrom, DC
Key Player: Frodi Rasmussen (SAU), DC
Preview: Well if you thought it was weird last time it's going to look weird this time too. Bjarnarey, that floating town of barges and launches and pilots and boats and all sort of walkways, are still in the top flight. Not only that, they confounded the predictions that their third season would see them finally plummet by actually sixth once again. They got annihilated in the Trofeo del Príncipe, predictably, but it is a huge credit to manager Thomas Celik that the squad have been able to achieve so much for so long.
Last Season: 6th.
Prediction: Not again, surely not again... 10th.

FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
Location: Surtsey, Norscelt
Stadium: Stadion Nom-Nom Solberg (45,924)
Manager: Anders Durs
Captain: Miroslav Bardsen, MR
Key Player: Casper Baek, MC
Preview: Anders Durs has crafted a side that is comfortable in possession and thoroughly difficult to break down if you have a chance with the ball. They may be too comfortable in possession howwever, and their critics will argue that a lack of potency up front will be their undoing. Legeren has gone to SK, and they are going to miss him dearly.
Last Season: 7th.
Prediction: I told you there were due a good season, and I think they'll have another this season, too. 6th.

Koppen Rig Force
Location: Torshavn, Farosea
Stadium: Pad Lane (30,491)
Manager: Ken Rilkern
Captain: Berg Bredesen, MC
Key Player: Anders Frijkstadt, DC
Preview: With all the surprise surrounding the relegations of Yuzhny and Resolute, Koppen Rig Force managed to quietly finish well above expectations in eighth without much fuss. They've lost the dynamic presence of Zacharias Juul to Jan Mayen Islanders, and they could struggle without him, and a lack of strength in depth could mean any injuries could threaten their league position very quickly. The Torshavn derby will be looked forward to with relish by fans, as ever.
Last Season: 8th
Prediction: Will fight with grit and determination the whole way, but maybe just not strong enough. 13th.

FC Torshavn
Location: Torshavn, Farosea
Stadium: Taugen Park (28,291)
Manager: Olaf Kurfuroy
Captain: Sivert Petterson, DC
Key Player: Michael Osic (ERA), ST
Preview: Powered by the goals of young Erathi cult hero Michael Osic, FC Torshavn are enjoying their stay in the top division. Sivert Petterson has enjoyed marshalling his defence, and is a well respected figure in the league. Kurfuroy remains an unpopular figure in the dressing room, but the team spirit is high and the fans are as loud as usual.
Last Season: 9th.
Prediction: Established club now, should be easy to see them stay up comfortably. 7th.

Scapa Bay Rovers
Location: Scapa Bay, Farosea
Stadium: Fleet Road (29,424)
Manager: Doug Truro
Captain: Árni Estirac (CDP), DC
Key Player: Pavel Holtan, ST
Preview: Finally making the jump after threatening to for years, Scapa Bay Rovers hit the top division and stunned just about everyone. Cotdelapomais defender Estirac has made the defensive organisation his own, and Pavel Holtan is settling into his new side well. The question remains whether their strike force has enough bite though, with a the main backup sitting on the bench in the form of young starlet Tor van der Gauss. A 6th followed by a 10th is promising, but a young and inexperienced squad remains after retirements.
Last Season: 10th.
Prediction: I have a sneaky suspicion they'll be struggling this season. 11th.

Red Star Severny
Location: Severny, Novaya Zemlya
Stadium: Carravale (41,734)
Manager: Mathias Paatelainen
Captain: Adam Nicklas, ST
Key Player: Ole Smolensk, GK
Preview: Despite the size and enthusiasm of their support, Red Star continue to avoid investing in their squad, and a disappointing league position last season looks unlike to be improved upon. Mathias Paatelainen is a talented manager, and it's hard to see the man staying on for much longer with this much frustration around the club. Successive place finishes have seen them lounge in the doldrums of the league, but many seem to believe this is fine until they can secure investment anyway.
Last Season: 11th.
Prediction: Hard to see them reaching the Globe Cup spots for a while given the progression of the other teams. 9th

Islay Town Mechanical
Location: Islay, Terra Scotia
Stadium: The Workshop (35,992)
Manager: Mikkel Flo
Captain: Heimlich Boll, DC
Key Player: Wilhelm Topp, ST
Preview: Mikkel Flo must be the most wanted manager in the Federation. Three successive promotions gave way to hysteria at the Workshop as our southerly friends in Terra Scotia can't quite fathom that they've made it into Divisjon One and stayed there. Central defender Heimlich Boll is key at the back, whilst youth striker Topp could cause all manner of problems for other defences.
Last Season: 12th.
Prediction: I think they should be okay this season, having enjoyed their experience so far. 8th.

North Star Grímsey
Location: Grímsey, Norscelt
Stadium: Steffansen Lane (32,492)
Manager: Cristof Helm
Captain: Kwame Traore (DJR), DC
Key Player: Nick Karkenberg, AMR
Preview: After staying in the top flight by a whisker last season, he first Djocorangan in the league, Kwame Traore, will look to show opposition strikers that there are taller people than Polarians out there - at 6ft10, don't expect North Star to concede many from set pieces this season. Nonetheless, holes remain all over the squad and North Star fans should prepare for a long hard season of graft and disappointment.
Last Season: 13th.
Prediction: The writing is on the wall for Helm's team, this could be the final straw. 14th.

Severnaya Zemlya 88 Equinox

Preview: Well, Levken said he would get them back in the top division, or lose his job trying, and he kept to his word. Again. Up and down and up and down go the Equinox, in a fine display of a bounce-bounce team. A fine close to the season saw them run in runners up behind a Northbrook surge, and meant that after their mid season wobble they attained promotion. Some good signings have ensured the team will feel confident going into the season, but strength in depth is still a concern.
Last Season: 2nd, Divisjon Two.
Prediction: Could the stay up and make it more than one season in the top flight for once? No. 15th.

SK Aasiaat Harbour
Location: Aasiaat, Victorrinn
Stadium: Harbour Way (28,385)
Manager: Lorenzo Justen

Key Player: Emrahn Vik, MC
Preview: Lorenzo Justen has his work cut out once more, having brought the bounce-bounce team back into the top division once more. Emrahn Vik is an absolutely crucial player for them in the centre of the park, and a host of Mytanar youngsters provide vitality and youth. The elder statesmen of the club should have enough experience to pass on so that they'll survive the season.
Last Season: 3rd, Divisjon Two.
Prediction: I think they should have enough to stay up, despite finding things tougher than they thought last season. 12th.

Nothing like easing your way into your new division than a trip to Victoria Stadium, right? Northbrook fought hard on their return to the top flight, but Marko Krivac's free kick ensured Jan Mayen got the points their performance deserved despite good work from Hjalmar Knudsen to cancel out Valcárcel's opener for Jan Mayen. SK sent out a warning to their title rivals with a 4-0 destruction of Aasiaat Harbour, who are another team to receive a tough introduction tot he league. Debut goals for both Alexio Del Nieran and Robin Hjik excited the crowd at the Landstadt, and the team is looking in good shape as they size up for another title defence. The ever dependable Dei Ormache scored the other two in between the debutants' goals. Two late goals for Michael Osic denied Cape St Paul a win in Torshavn meanwhile, after Chueran and Mackenzie scored in the first half.

Not many teams run out to the Millerntor Arena and come away with a win, so East Franz will be delighted to have done so, Jan Kowalski the unlikely provider of the goal. Amaechi Olsen opened his account for Jan Mayen in Axel Heiburg with a fine strike from the edge of the box, only to see it cancelled out by a Kjetil Huytspurr wondergoal. Kwame Traore produced a man of the match performance for North Star as they beat Aasiaat, and Koppen Rig Force show there is life after Juul, with a 1-0 win over Northbrook. Severnaya Zemlya 88 Equinox are aso finding life tough in the division, Enroljas Montpellier scoring two goals as Red Star recorded a 3-1 win.

Zacharias Juul showed just what a powerful purchase he could be for Jan Mayen, scoring one goal and setting up another for Marko Krivac, Valcárcel adding a hat trick as Koppen Rig Force are shown the full force of the team they sold their star player to in the off-season. Isidoro Nao is another new signing who came to life this matchday, scoring twice and setting up Mackenzie for another two as Northbrook got torn apart at home by FC Cape St Paul. SK dropped points as Scapa Bay came and held them to a goalless draw, whilst Islay Town record a welcome away victory at North Star.

Casper Baek showed his ruthless side for Surtsey today, shrugging off two high tackles from desperate Northbrook defenders before rifling in an unstoppable shot, before getting sent off himself later on in the game. Its not often we see such a limelight hugging performance from the impressive central midfielder, and fans aren't quite sure what to make of it as of yet. Dei Ormache and Amadeus Irndtor bore the fruits of Del Nieran's labours in midfield, scoring the two goals that see off a sorry looking Severnaya Zemlya side. Aasiaat have slightly better fortunes on the matchday, holding a Jan Mayen side that looked bereft of ideas without the presence of Bosc and Krivac to a 1-1 draw.

Jens Forgrossand scored a wonder goal for Bjarnarey, tying things up nicely at the Rendahl, and securing a point for his team against East Franz who are looking in fine form. Northbrook Diamonds recorded a first win of the season, with Knudsen putting in a fine performance as he shows he can cut it in the top league, and Isidoro Nao also put in a performance to remember as he inspired a 1-3 victory over Jan Mayen in the Victoria Stadium. The real story of the day however, is Axel Heiburg's 8-1 demolition of Scapa Bay. Two goals each for Kjetil Huytspurr, Johan Ljunggren, Sal Wahlfleurs, and Steffan Baumgarten put Scapa Bay to bed, before a late consolation from Tor van der Gauss put a nice gloss on the youth prospects for the national side, if not for Scapa Bay's goal difference.

Jan Mayen drop yet more points, this time being held at Islay, whose home ground is again becoming the fortress it once was. Red Star Severny see Montpellier as their saviour again, rescuing them with two goals after Koppen Rig controlled the match for more than 80 minutes. The most exciting match of the day however, is found at the Landstadt Stadion, where the first Elfsteijn Derby of the season comes around. Goalless for 80 minutes, a tense and engaging tactical stalemate was finally broken when a rare mistake from Tir against his former club allowed space for Jon Kjaer to burst away down the right and play in Del Nieran for a vital return to goalscoring for his new club.

Krivac marks his return to the Jan Mayen squad with a goal and an assist, helping his side to a win over Surtsey Island team that was looking impressive, and should go some way to relieving the pressure on manager Nicolaj Koch. Aasiaat record a much-needed win over Severnaya Zemlya, perhaps feeling the pinch of their Mytanar backers withdrawing but a win is a win is a win, and they'll be grateful for the three points. Sigurhelgason and van Brekke both get on the scoreline alongside Mackenzie as Red Star are sent packing, whilst North Star hold East Franz as they turn in yet another impressive performance, and SK record an away win in the blizzards of Northbrook with two goals from Irndtor.

Scapa Bay are going to be selling DVDs of their match for a long time, as they come back in the second half with four goals to counter the two scored before the break by Jan Mayen. van der Gauss and Iversen scoring two apiece for Scapa Bay as a Jan Mayen side that is looking sluggish saw Amaechi Olsen's goals cancelled out. Huge excitement at Equinox as they draw 4-4 with Islay Town, and a Michael Osic hat trick sees Torshavn take a 5-2 drubbing out of what was an even game against Aasiaat.

After scoring a hatful the previous week, Torshavn looked all goal-ed out, conceding a hatful against Islay Town the following matchday, Gustav Celik not proving to be a huge loss for Islay town, with a rotation of youth strikers providing 5 goals in the past 2 matchdays. Sal Wahlfleurs scores a crucial goal for Axel Heiburg as they labour to a win over Northbrook, whilst Nao scores a goal that cancels out a fine strike from Robin Hjik, as Cape St Paul and SK fought out an engaging clash of what are looking like title contenders. Jan Mayen listed another disappointing draw however, with mistakes and sloppy play allowing Severny in to score an equaliser after Litremmen's first ever goal for Jan Mayen.

Things go from bad to worse for Jan Mayen, a brace from Olsen unable to excuse the trouble at the back, as Severnaya Zemlya run in four goals to take in a priceless three points from the one time title contenders. SK run in another three points however, and are going from strength to strength it would seem, goals from Irndtor and Del Nieran undoing Baek's opener for Surtsey. East Franz and Axel Heiburg keep up their pressure in the early third of the season, as they both record wins. Kvitchenko, Blonqvist, and Berghoff the dream team scorers once again for East Franz as they beat Islay Town, and Huytspurr and Wahlfleurs combining for Axel Heiburg. The other two early trendsetters, North Star and St Paul, shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw.

A third of the way into the season, SK Franz Josef City are setting an intimidating target for the other teams to follow. Hjik and Del Nieran have brought a new dimension to their midfield play, and only some impressive work by the grafting youngsters of FC Axel Heiburg has kept the gap at the top relatively small thus far. SK Franz Josef City are still unbeaten however, and they are looking formidable, only conceding 4 goas in 10 matches. North Star are having a great season so far, sitting in third, just ahead of FC Cape St Paul and East Franz Athletic, whilst Bjarnarey continue to bely their size and comparative status to sit in sixth, one ahead of the topsy-turvy Jan Mayen in seventh. Tied on points with Torshavn and Red Star Severny below them, Jan Mayen are having a poor season so far by their standards, and unless things pick up in the near future, Nicolaj Koch could be on the wrong end of a board meeting. Surtsey and Islay Town follow Red Star, and can look to some impressive performances as places to build from as the season continues. Below them, Scapa Bay, Aasiaat Harbour, Koppen Rig, Equinox, and Northbrook Diamonds are all looking likely candidates for the tail end relegation scraps. All teams have their strong points and their weaknesses, and things are going to get tense.

In Divisjon Two, Yuzhny Equinox are currently sitting in the top spot, ahead of a somewhat surprising chasing pack consisting of Korsten Lokomotiv, Atammik Zenith, and Rapid Jan Mayen of all teams. Nobody would have predicted those three to be in the hunt for promotion come the end of the season, and we shall have to see if they can maintain their challenges. At the bottom of the table, Hoyvik Town are looking sorry for themselves, as are FC Fetlar, whilst Aleutia Volcanoes are struggling way below their usual levels of attainment.

The big guns enter the Latitude Cup in round one, with more than a few interesting results amongst the vidiprinter's chirping and whirring. FC Axel Heiburg scored enough in a ten-goal thriller to see off the challenge off Hans Island Pioneers in a match that saw all caution thrown to the wind and defence unorganised. Jan Mayen Islanders face Koppen Rig again, coming out 3-2 victors this time thanks to good work by Olsen, Eygenroy and Krivac in the opposing box. East Franz showed the obvious gulf in class with a 5-0 demolition of Axel Town AFC, and SK ease past FC Fetlar. There are shocks to be had however, with Islay Town crashing out at home to SK Sturm Rässinger 76, Franz Josef Sharks putting out Lokomotiv Barentsberg, and Atammik Zenith knocking out Bjarnarey Flotilla.

East Franz also recorded a fine away win over the always tricky Scapa Bay, the dream team trio with a goal each again. Olsen's opener for Jan Mayen gave them a lead they never looked confident enough to keep a hold of, and the team needs a shake-up badly. FC Axel Heiburg can knock them in when they feel like it, no doubt about that, two goals each from Huytspurr and Wahlfleurs helping them a 5-1 away win over Red Star. Meanwhile, two goals from Baek secure a win for Surtsey over Aasiaat.

Northbrook Diamonds also record a well received three points, defeating FC Torshavn as comfortably as the 4-0 scoreline would suggest. FC Axel Heiburg squeak past Bjarnarey 4-2, whils Susrtsey take Islay own apart in a 5-0 and Nao stars again for St Paul as they defeat Scapa Bay 4-1.

Another week, another week where Nicolaj Koch escapes the chop for another days, a single goal from Hastings providing the vital goal as North Star provided a strong opposition. Northbrook are on a roll all of a sudden, and record a stunning 3-1 victory at the Rendahl. Two successive defeats at home will not have pleased their plans, not least because SK return to winning ways with goal from Ormache, Irndtor, and Del Nieran. The real excitement of the day however comes in the Torshavn derby, which is a 5 goal thriller. Koppen Rig raced into a lead thanks to Felix Pirinen, before Osic countered with a first half brace. Sol Sjodin scored to tie things up in the second half, before a sublime free kick from Jorgen-Franz Bru meant Torshavn took the points.

That's what cup football is all about. FC Axel Heiburg are knocked out by SK Sturm Rässinger 76 on penalties, who are getting a bit of a reputation for giant-killing this season, whilst a fiercely contested Norscelt derby goes to extra time, North Star just squeaking past Surtsey by the single goal. FC Cape St Paul are involved in another thriller, winning 5-3 away at Franz Josef Sharks, Welton, Macknzie, Nao, and Chueran with the goals, whilst Echardi incredible provided three assists from the backline. Zorion Legeren scores his first goals of the season at least, slotting two past Spitsbergen, helping SK to a 4-1 victory.

Nicolaj Koch proceeded into the board meeting of doom and he did not return. The board are keen to attract a managerial candidate in the off-season, but for the remainder of this season it is understood that the caretaker player-manager will be Niko Marek. FC Cape St Paul turned on the style in the second half as a resilient Torshavn side resisted them for the first 45 minutes. Welton, Nao, and Mackenzie scoring the goals. SK suffer a shock defeat away to Aasiaat Harbour meanwhile, giving East Franz renewed home of the chase.

What have the chefs been feeding the team up in Northbrook? They are on a roll for sure, a 7-2 demolition of Koppen Rig a sign of changing fortunes up on the northern state, Knudsen with a hat trick. Niko Marek's managerial debut was a mixed one, unable to stop the jitters and stop Axel Heiburg completely, but composed enough to set Olsen and Valcárcel up in a good enough attacking formation that they appeared back to their best. Times are changing at Victoria Stadium. SK continue their mini-dip with a goalless draw at home to Islay Town, and East Franz Drop points to an FC Cape St Paul challenge that appears to be gaining pace.

Tougher than it looks, this management stuff. Niko Marek took his inexperienced defence to Koppen Rig, and Juul's former team showed them how it was done. Nonetheless the back four of Juul, Litremmen, Hangeland, and Rossen could be a force for the future if trained and nurtured well. St Paul break the bank with another storming performance, 4- winners at home to Northbrook, who finally return to losing ways. SK Aasiaat Harbour slammed Axel Heiburg 5-1 in what was one of the shock results of the day, whilst SK righted themselves again with a thrilling 4-3 win at Scapa Bay, with Del Nieran, Urz, Hjik, and Ormache with the goals.

A late equalising goal from Welton secured a point for St Paul away at Koppen Rig, whilst Jorgen-Franz Bru turned in a man ofthe match performance, capping it off with a goal as Bjarnarey fell to Torshavn. Two goals from Ormache and one from Irndtor knocked Severnaya Zemlya for three, and Northbrook recorded another stunning scoreline, beating Surtsey 5-1. Marek got his team firing on all cylinders again though, and goals from Bosc, Eygenroy, Valcárcel, and Krivac, ensured Jan Mayen took the points at home to Aasiaat.

Ten weeks ago, FC Cape St Paul would have slaughtered Jan Mayen, but the faith is back in the side, and Dietar Eygenroy's free kick cancelled out Isidoro Nao's opener for St Paul, as the two large teams, with contrasting fortunes thus far this season, share the spoils. SK tak full advantage of this, a hat trick for Irndtor ensuring they defeat FC Torshavn, whilst Axel Heiburg's indifferent recent form was underlined by a limp 3-1 defeat to Scapa Bay Rovers.

Another round of the Latitude Cup swings around, and teams are fighting it out for quarter-final berths. Jan Mayen continue their revival with a comfortable win in Longyearbyen, goals from Krivac, Olsen, and two from Valcárcel. A man of the match performance from Zorion Legeren including a fine long distance strike was the inspiration behind SK's heavy defeat of Sporting Juura, and St Paul eat Resolute Storm in a highly aggressive match at the Millerntor. SK Sturm Rässinger 76's giant killing run was brought to an end, beaten 2-1 by Scapa Bay, but Atammik Zenith's continued, running North Star out on penalties.

Two thirds of the way into the season, and the title is looking it could turn into a two horse race at the moment, with SK and FC Cape St Paul both going on recent runs strong enough to see a gap open up between them and third place East Franz. North Star have played way and above expectations all season, and to see them still hanging on in fourth is wonderful for their fans given the struggle they expected, the form of Kwame Traore having something to do with it I'm sure, and their Norscelt rivals Surtsey Island Gulls follow them up in fifth. Axel Heiburg, Islay Town, Torshavn, and Bjarnarey all look like they're going to record safe mid table performances this year, and then comes Jan Mayen Islanders. Fans have had a torrid time of it this season, but caretaker player-manager Niko Marek is turning the corner slowly with the team, and I think we can expect to see them moving up the table rather than down in future. Behind them, Northbrook Diamonds have enjoyed a wonderful middle third of the season, and are right off the bottom now, leading the pack of Scapa Bay and Red Star Severny in the scrap to avoid relegation. Below the, Severnaya, Aasiaat, and Koppen Rig Force are all very much in that battle already.

In Divisjon Two, Atammik Zenith fans are in dreamland, seeing their team on top of the table and looking like strong candidates for promotion at least, somewhere they didn't expect to be at the start of the season. Yuzhny Equinox are also making a strong bid for promotion, along with Korsten Lokomotiv. Hoyvik Town look a sorry sight at the bottom of the table, with Fetlar not faring much better either.

In Divisjon Three, things are close enough that entire section of table can be uprooted and moved further up or down in a matter of weeks, but Devon Bay and Velcosta Cliffs are both look good for the title race at the moment. The four team sinkhole of relegation in this division is also shaping up nicely, with anyone from 7th to 16th still only separated by 10 points.

Roxbury Welton scored a thrilling last minute equaliser for St Paul, cancelling out Baek's free kick for Surtsey, meaning the two heavyweights of the game have to make do with a share of the spoils each. And Olsen scores a brace for Jan Mayen as they drag themselves out of their ditch slowly but surely. Koppen Rig force a draw against Red Star despite being reduced to nine men, but the Elfsteijn derby is the tale of the day once more. Diedrich Kvitchenko was East Franz's hero in the end, rescuing a dominant East Franz from a home defeat against an out-of-sorts SK performance. A deflected goal from Tomas Sivoli gave SK the lead in the first half, but a point was at least as much as East Franz deserved.

Jan Mayen get destroyed 4-0 in an away match against their cross-Norscelt rivals, Baek inspiring a triumph of tactics for the Gulls. Aasiaat ran out 2-0 winners in a vital relegation six-pointer against Zemlya, and Northbrook Diamonds give their fans something to really treasure, with a 1-0 win at the Landstadt. Even if they get relegated and never see the top division again, their fans and Hjalmar Knudsen will treasure this moment forever. Then again, the fact they pulled this off may in fact be indication that that isn't going to happen.

Two wins over top half opposition in two weeks, Northbrook are looking like a hardened and solid outfit these days, and a 3-1 win over North Star only serves to reinforce that fact. SK return to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Koppen Rig Force, Hjik and Ormache with the goals, whilst FC Cape St Paul win a thriller over Bjarnarey. Seven goals were scored, all in the middle half hour of the game, either side of half time. Jens Forgrossand scored a hat-trick for Flotilla, but goals from Mackenzie twice, Sigurhelgason, and Echardi were too much for them. Axel Heiburg haven't had the run of luck recently, and two lucky goals for Berghoff and Blonqvist saw them slip to a 2-0 home defeat against East Franz Athletic.

A late goal from Osic isn't enough to salvage anything meaningful from the game for Torshavn, slipping at home to a well travelled Islay Town side, and Zemlya score another vital point at home, this time against Scapa Bay Rovers. SK beat FC Cape St Paul 4-0 in what could be a meaningful result in terms of the title race, putting them firmly in the driver's seat now. Del Nieran, Irndtor, Legeren, and Ormache with the goals.

FC Cape St Paul win at home to Aasiaat thanks to goals from Sigurhelgason and Nao, but must now rely on mistakes from SK beat Bjarnarey emphatically away, 4-1, with goals from Ormache, Irndtor, Del Nieran, and Sivoli. With three games remaining, SK are now on 62 points, 8 points ahead of St Paul on 54, meaning only three defeats for SK from here on in can stop them claiming a hat trick of titles.

St Paul's dream isn't over though! A 2-1 home victory sees all eyes in St Paul turn to the Landstadt, where Jan Mayen have stunned the nation with a 4-1 victory. With the difference in points now down to five, with two games remaining, St Paul must be ruing their heavy defeat to SK earlier in the season, though I doubt that will stop them buying Valcárcel, Bosc, Hastings, and Krivac a few pints of Grogg the nexxt time they see them. At the other end of the table, Koppen Rig lose, leaving them nine points behind safety with only six points available. Ken Rilkern leaves the club by mutual consent, and Koppen Rig are relegated. Severnaya aren't in much better shape, as despite their win over Northbrook they themselves remain the drop zone.

Jan Mayen have beaten the three other biggest teams in the nation in three consecutive weeks. Remarkably, a first half brace from Amaechi Olsen stunned East Franz before they could find their shape, and some inspirational defending by the impressive looking Litremmen ensured a Kvitchenko in vicious form couldn't find a way through. North Star could only draw at the Landstadt, and the race for the third and final Globe Cup spot now comes down to the match between the two in the last matchday. North Star are currently ahead by one point, but Jan Mayen are looking on a roll. That goalless draw at the Landstadt meant all eyes were on St Paul, who blew Scapa Bay away 4-0, taking the hunt for the title to the thirtieth and final matchday. The gap between the two at the top now being three points, though, it would take a remarkable shift in goal difference for St Paul to lift the trophy now, and SK fans are quietly confident. At the bottom, Koppen Rig's victory over Severnaya does themselves no good, but may be enough to drag the Equinox down with them, as Aasiaat and Red Star share the points in a one-all draw. Red Star now sit on 31 points, with Aasiaat and Severnaya both on 29, and Koppen Rig already down with 24.

Two late goals from Del Nieran and Ormache ensure the season doesn't come down to goal difference, giving SK a draw at Axel Heiburg after going 2-0 down early on. St Paul weren't beating Severnaya by enough goals for it to have given them the title even if SK had lost, but fans of the Cape were already resigned to this fact in their head, only letting Wahlfleurs' goals for Axel Heiburg let them get carried away and play the 'what if' game on the day itself, so to see their squad finish in the top two and take a seat with the global elite is enough for now. Eat Franz and Surtsey finish third and fourth, and to the victors go the spoils in the Globe Cup race. Two second half goals from Valcárcel and Krivac enough to see Jan Mayen beat North Star and pip them to the international competition. A bitter disappointment for North Star who have had a fantastic season given their squad. Jan Mayen fans and board alike are relieved to see them not fall out of the top five, and with a Latitude Cup final to come, though must be wondering what might have been had they replaced Koch earlier in the season. Axel Heiburg and Torshavn sit below North Star having both had seasons with a large slump, without which international football may have come a-knocking. Following on come Islay Town, Scapa Bay, and Bjarnarey, all three teams continuing to punch above their weight by staying in the division, and Red Star will be disappointed yet to only just avoid relegation on goal difference, coming from 4-1 down against Islay to seal a point in a remarkable 5-5 draw. Aasiaat's win over Bjarnarey wasn't by enough goals then, and they sink straight back down again to Divisjon Two. Severnaya were fighting for their lives against St Paul, costing the Cape their shot at a title in the event of an SK defeat, but ultimately follow the Dockers down, as do Koppen Rig, despite a second useless win in two matches.

The home of East Franz Athletic, one time Federation League winner and one of the largest clubs in the country, is bidding to become the host stadium for the upcoming Globe Cup. Rendhal Stadion is steeped in history, with the new stands simply being built on top of the old stands, a popular phrase being that you could slice the place in two and get a full history of stadium construction in the nation. The Four Spires of Rendahl, shown illuminated in the picture, refer back to the original four corner flags used by the pioneering founders of the club in their first ever match, against fierce cross-city rivals SK Franz Josef City. Legend has it that with night about to fall, and the pitch a simply marked patch of scrub in the industrial district of Rendahl, the founding fathers of East Franz Athletic lit the flags, and placed flares on top of the poles so that the game could continue. East Franz won 4-1. Today, this legend continues with the Four Spires, that light up every night, and throughout the endless night of winter, as well as currently supporting the roof over the seats that could never be supported by the ramshackle foundations of the old stands beneath the current top of the range facilities.

Preview: As a matter of slight concern to fans, SK have neglected to bring anyone in in the off season. Nonetheless, the team remains a very strong one, With Ormache, Irndtor, Kjaer, Del Nieran, Hjik, Ljungberg, Meolans, Urz, and Legeren all capable of walking into pretty much any other team in the league. Last season brought them a treble of silverware, and was one of the most successful in their history. Fans know it will be hard to emulate the achievements of last season, but they expect the team to try.
Last Season: Champions.
Prediction: Will they win it again? Well, probably. 1st.

FC Cape St Paul

Key Player: Isidoro Nao (ERA), AMC
Preview: St Paul are one of the most consistent teams in the league, and finished second last season, claiming a berth in the Champions' Cup in the process. There is real quality in this squad, with the midfield in particular impressive, and the introduction of the exciting Isidoro Nao last season proved a masterstroke from St Weiss. His link in play with often lone striker and captain Gunnar Mackenzie was an instant hit, propelling the team to their impressive finish.
Last Season: 2nd.
Prediction: I can see no reason why they shouldn't be able to repeat their feat from last season. 2nd.

East Franz Athletic
Location: Franz Josef City, Franz Josef
Stadium: Rendahl Stadion (47,911)
Manager: Manganus Fjelden
Captain: Henning Blonqvist, ST
Key Player: Henning Tir, MC
Preview: Berghoff and Blonqvist continue to have an almost telepathic relationship, and Diedrich Kvitchenko is one of the most exciting youth prospects in the entire league. Demy de Zooijt will be key to their performance this season, the young Mytanar keeper showing just what he was capable of last season, as will key man Henning Tir. A marvellous set of understated lynchpin performances last season won him many plaudits from critics and supporters alike. Have changed their badge as well, in case you hadn't noticed.
Last Season: 3rd.
Prediction: They'll be up and around the Globe Cup spots again I reckon. 4th.

FC1. Surtsey Island Gulls
Location: Surtsey, Norscelt
Stadium: Stadion Nom-Nom Solberg (45,924)
Manager: Anders Durs
Captain: Casper Baek, MC
Key Player: Lester Kendrick (CVC), DL
Preview: Anders Durs has crafted a side that is comfortable in possession and thoroughly difficult to break down if you have a chance with the ball. They may be too comfortable in possession howwever, and their critics will argue that a lack of potency up front will be their undoing. Legeren has proved difficult to replace, and despite this they finished 4th last season against seemingly all the odds. Crucial to this was their remaining influential central midfielder Casper Baek, who takes the captain's armband.
Last Season: 4th.
Prediction: I told you there were due a good season, and I think they'll have another this season, too. 5th.

Jan Mayen Islanders
Location: Jan Mayen, Norscelt
Stadium: Victoria Stadium (51,293)
Manager: Madison Garroway (CVC)
Captain: Dietar Eygenroy (BLK), DMC
Key Player: Amaechi Olsen (SAU), ST
Preview: Had an awful season last time around, costing Nicolaj Koch his job. Only the inspirational leadership of ex-captain and stand in manager Niko Marek saved them from mid-table obscurity, and rescued them a Globe Cup spot from absolutely nowhere. Marek has gone on to apply for the vacant post at the Turori national team, and so the Jan Mayen board have brought in accomplished manager Madison Garroway from Civil Citizenry, a nation with a growing reputation for astute managerial leadership. Versatile Erathi defender Vanni Del Naran will have to step up to the plate in the absence of Niko Marek, whilst Bleak Rock national captain Dietar Eygenroy takes the captain's armband.
Last Season: 5th.
Prediction: Garroway has an undeniably talented pool of players here, the trick is to get them to clicking again. 3rd.

North Star Grímsey
Location: Grímsey, Norscelt
Stadium: Steffansen Lane (32,492)
Manager: Cristof Helm
Captain: Kwame Traore (DJR), DC
Key Player: Radek Brandt, ST
Preview: After staying in the top flight by a whisker a few seasons ago, the first Djocorangan in the league, Kwame Traore, captained his side to a drive up the table last season, finishing just outside the Globe Cup spots as Jan Mayen's resurgence just pipped them in the last few weeks. Traore will look to show opposition strikers that there are taller people than Polarians out there - at 6ft10, don't expect North Star to concede many from set pieces this season. Nonetheless, holes remain all over the squad that some investment in young Citiz talent is intended to solve. Might be a season or two before the benefits of these moves are properly felt, but there is certainly room for hope at Steffansen Lane at the moment.
Last Season: 6th.
Prediction: The squad looks okay, but most importantly, is full of confidence. 8th.

FC Axel Heiburg
Location: Axel Heiburg, Axel Heiburg
Stadium: Axel Torvig Park (25,195)
Manager: Morten Rasmussen

Key Player: Kjetil Huytspurr, AML
Preview: With the Haapa-Mechelin churning out talent regularly now, their financial future appears to be bright, and the team can start to build for the future. Stadium expansion will be ongoing this season, and the board and manager allegedly have a few experienced signings lined up for next season to go with new right winger Goldwin from Civil Citizenry. Wahlfleurs looks ready to go, and watch out for fleet-footed left winger Kjetil Huytspurr, who made a huge impact last season and has turned the heads of the bigger clubs.
Last Season: 7th.
Prediction: If the youngsters gel well and keep their heads, they'll be challenging to make the top five again. 6th.

FC Torshavn
Location: Torshavn, Farosea
Stadium: Taugen Park (28,291)
Manager: Olaf Kurfuroy
Captain: Sivert Petterson, DC
Key Player: Michael Osic (ERA), ST
Preview: Powered by the goals of young Erathi cult hero Michael Osic, FC Torshavn are enjoying their stay in the top division. Sivert Petterson has enjoyed marshalling his defence, and is a well respected figure in the league. Kurfuroy remains a controversial figure in the dressing room, but the team spirit is high and the fans are as loud as usual.
Last Season: 8th.
Prediction: Established club now, should be easy to see them stay up comfortably. 7th.

Islay Town Mechanical
Location: Islay, Terra Scotia
Stadium: The Workshop (35,992)
Manager: Mikkel Flo
Captain: Heimlich Boll, DC
Key Player: Wilhelm Topp, ST
Preview: Mikkel Flo must be the most wanted manager in the Federation. Three successive promotions gave way to hysteria at the Workshop as our southerly friends in Terra Scotia can't quite fathom that they've made it into Divisjon One and stayed there. Central defender Heimlich Boll is key at the back, whilst youth striker Topp could cause all manner of problems for other defences.
Last Season: 9th.
Prediction: I think they should be okay this season, having enjoyed their experience so far. 10th.

Scapa Bay Rovers
Location: Scapa Bay, Farosea
Stadium: Fleet Road (29,424)
Manager: Doug Truro
Captain: Árni Estirac (CDP), DC
Key Player: Pavel Holtan, ST
Preview: Finally making the jump after threatening to for years, Scapa Bay Rovers hit the top division and stunned just about everyone. Cotdelapomais defender Estirac has made the defensive organisation his own, and Pavel Holtan is settling into his new side well. The question remains whether their strike force has enough bite though, with a the main backup sitting on the bench in the form of young starlet Tor van der Gauss. A 6th followed by a 10th and another 10th is promising, but a young and inexperienced squad has fans worried this season.
Last Season: 10th.
Prediction: I have a sneaky suspicion they'll be struggling this season. 14th.

FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla
Location: Bjarnarey, Norscelt
Stadium: The Barge (28,441)
Manager: Thomas Celik
Captain: Frodi Rasmussen (SAU), DC
Key Player: Jens Forgrossand, ST
Preview: Well if you thought it was weird the last three times, it's going to look weird this time too. Bjarnarey, that floating town of barges and jetties and piers and bridges and canals and launches and pilots and boats and all sort of walkways, are still in the top flight. Not only that, they confounded the predictions that it would be their fourth season that would see them finally plummet by staying up once again. However, they only escaped by three points last season, and with a lack of new talent brought in, a few fans are worried and the pundits are gloating that this year, will finally be their last.
Last Season: 11th.
Prediction: Okay, they might not set the league aflame, but I think the pundits are wrong on this one. 9th.

Northbrook Diamonds FK
Location: Northbrook, Northbrook
Stadium: Palace Approach (31,392)
Manager: Tomas Svensson
Captain: Jan Nielsen, DC
Key Player: Hjalmar Knudsen, ST
Preview: Stayed up by three points last season, it was a steep learning curve for them - only some impressive runs of results in the latter half of the season kept them. Nonetheless, the appear much wiser and braver now, and have the money to invest in foreign talent like Astograth's Zuzen Barta. A decent home record exists for the Diamonds as well, as nobody enjoys a trip up to Northbrook.
Last Season: 12th
Prediction: Will their home record be enough to keep them up? I remain sceptical, but will give them the benefit of the doubt for now. 13th.

Red Star Severny
Location: Severny, Novaya Zemlya
Stadium: Carravale (41,734)
Manager: Mathias Paatelainen
Captain: Ole Smolensk, GK
Key Player: Hurko Atristain (ASG), ST
Preview: Despite the size and enthusiasm of their support, Red Star continue to avoid investing heavily in their squad, only replacing players they've sold, and a disappointing league position last season looks unlikely to be much improved upon. Mathias Paatelainen is a talented manager, and it's hard to see the man staying on for much longer with this much frustration around the club. Enroljas Montpellier was sold to Cascratia, and young Astograthi strike Hurko Aristain was brought in to fill the gap, on which much will rest.
Last Season: 13th.
Prediction: Hard to see them reaching the Globe Cup spots for a while given the progression of the other teams. 11th

Atammik Zenith FK
Location: Atammik, Grenlund
Stadium: Cara Lane (17,442)
Manager: Mathias Pensen
Captain: Jonas Karlsen, DC
Key Player: Markus Rosling, ST
Preview: What the hell are these guys doing in Divisjon One? Seriously. They sealed the Divisjon Two title last season much to everyone's surprise, and now thanks largely to the talents of young manager Mathias Pensen, the small club from Grenlund finds itself in the top flight. Jonas Karlsen and Markus Rosling are the best of an average bunch of footballers, and fans aren't expecting to stay up.
Last Season: Champions, Divisjon Two
Prediction: Will fight with the grit we've come to expect of them, but they stand little chance of staying up. 16th.

Yuzhny Equinox FC
Location: Yuzhny, Novaya Zemlya
Stadium: Commerce Park (29,492)
Manager: Michael Knudsen
Captain: Sacha Hoem, MC
Key Player: Jon Osen, ST
Preview: Appear to be turning into something of a flip flop club. Flopping in the top flight, before flipping right back up again. Fans will be keen to avoid this, and are desperate to remain in the division to avoid the gloating of their rival fans of Red Star Severny. Whether or not they'll manage this is another matter, of course, but with Michael Knudsen retiring at the end of the season, the board has been reluctant to okay funds for new signings, preferring to save the money for the new manager. This could compromise them this season.
Last Season: 2nd, Divisjon Two.
Prediction: It will be close, but they should have enough not to go back down again. 12th.

FC Solovetsky Monastery
Location: Solovetsky, Svalbard
Stadium: The Priory (24,282)
Manager: Christan Offenburg
Captain: Patrik Karlstrom, DC
Key Player: Soren Eirberg, DC
Preview: The Monks are in Divisjon One again. They don't appear much the worse for their jaunt back to Divisjon Two, and the Priory remains as intimidating a venue for away teams to play in as it has ever been. Christan Offenburg is a fine manager, and he will want his side to come here and play football, rather than sit back and defend, so expect to see Solovestky having a good go at their opposition and showing no fear.
Last Season: 3rd, Divisjon Two
Prediction: Despite attacking aims, the defence is key, and I'm not sre they have the same staying power as they did in their first stint. 15th.

Ten matches into the league season, lets have a quick summary of what has happened so far...

And the first kickoffs have come! The moment fans around the nation have waited for, and they were not disappointed by the football on display. East Franz opened their campaign in style, with a brace for Wilhelm Berghoff helping them to a 3-1 win over the Flotilla. Demy de Zooijt will be disappointed to concede and spoil a clean sheet at the death, but the team have to be happy over all. It was a good day for Swartazians in the league in general, as both Marko Krivac and Henrik Litremmen net for Jan Mayen Islanders, Madison Garroway marking the start of his reign at the club with a 4-3 away win over Islay Town in Terra Scotia. SK start the defence of their title with a fine 4-0 win over Axel Heiburg, taking the Globe Cup hopefuls apart.

FC Axel Heiburg bounce back from their pounding the capital by welcoming Scapa Bay to Axel Torvig Park with a seven goal annihilation. Goldwin and Huytspurr tearing down the wings to provide service for Wahlfleurs, scoring a goal each as Wahlfleurs grabs four himself. Merkens adding the seventh in injury time. As the season goes on this result could get more and more important, as East Franz go to St Paul and lose 1-0, Gunnar Mackenzie with the crucial goal. Meanwhile, Jan Mayen show how much higher their heads are this season, by beating SK 2-0 at home, and you couldn't have predicted that would happen at the start of the season. Valcárcel and Eygenroy scoring the goals, both assisted by Bosc, who outshone his compatriot Hjik today by a long way.

Baek and Novak combine twice for Surtsey Island Gulls against the Monks, Baek setting up Novak for the opener before Novak returned the favour in the second half. Nao runs the show now for St Paul, grabbing a hat trick of assists again Northbrook before slotting in a goal of his own late on, whilst Atammik continue to find life tough in the top flight, a Radek Brandt goal in injury time showing them just how quickly they can get punished for not staying alert. A goal each for Kvitchenko and Blonqvist sink Yuzhny Equinox, whilst Torshavn are given a harsh wakeup call, going down 3-1 at home to Islay Town, Folk, Topp, and Boll with the goals for Islay after an opening goal from Osic for Torshavn.

Jan Mayen are looking in fine form, now, with a 5-0 demolition of Bjarnarey. Valcárcel, Krivac, Juul, Bosc, and Erathis defender Del Naran scoring the goals, and after not conceding since the opening day, you have to say all demons of last season are well and truly buried at Victoria Stadium now, and its back to business as usual for the Purple Ospreys. FC Torshavn show a bit more grit than they did last week, holding the title holders SK to a 1-1 draw, Alexio Del Nieran's first half free kick cancelled out by a piledriver from Jorgen-Franz Bru. And there was a thriller in Northbrook, as East Franz go 2-0 up after just ten minutes after goals from Blonqvist and Kowalski. Goals just before half time and then again straight from the restart from Knudsen cancelled out the lead, before a last minute goal from the unlikely source of Jan Nielsen from a superb Zuzen Barta corner sealed the three points for the Diamonds.

A second 1-1 draw away from home in as many matchdays for SK, as they fail to put the boot in against North Star, who punish them with a late goal from Traore, just as they punished Atammik Zenith. Speaking of whom, Zenith lost 2-1 away to St Paul, a late goal again proving their undoing as Nao steals in at the front post to pull it back for Mackenzie to hammer in. For the other new teams, Solovetsky Monastery also lost 2-1 at the harsh and intimidating venue of Palace Approach, whilst Yuzhny secure a very creditable home draw against Jan Mayen. Torshavns travelled to Scapa Bay in the Farosea derby, and came away will all three points after goals for Osic, Casaca, and Urfstadt.

SK 1982 Matua will be disappointed to lose at home against Toyoharo, as will Sturm Grímsey against Måriussa Viking. For the rest of the winning sides, a potentially money spinning tie against one of the big sides remains a possibility.

Yuzhny travel to Severny for another heated Novaya Zemlya derby, with two goals from Jon Osen meaning the Equinox carry home the points in contentious circumstances. SK return to winning ways with a solid 3-0 win over Surtsey that doesn't do justice to the scale of their domination. Irndtor's brace and Hjik's free kick pounding the Norscelt side all the way home again. Torshavn continue their impressive run of form with a 3-0 win at home to Bjarnarey, and North Star's dominace at home to Scapa Bay is rewarded with a 3-1 victory. In the day's late game, Jan Mayen struck four past Axel Heiburg, another brace for Krivac being the highlight of the day.

Northbrook, usually so strong at home, are beaten soundly by the other traditionally very strong home team, the travelling Islay Town taking the points back to Terra Scotia courtesy of fine work from Topp and Folke. Bjarnarey take up an important win at home to North Star, who aren't the force many expected them to be this season. Meanwhile, it is all go at the perceived top of the table, as the so-called 'big four' play each other. In the first game, East Franz and Jan Mayen fight out an absolute Epic at the Rendahl, with the home side coming back from a goal down twice with goals from Kvitchenko and Berghoff, before del Naran's stabbed toepoke in the box stole all three points for the Ospreys. Valcárcel and Olsen scored the first two for Jan Mayen. In the second, St Paul and SK fought out an engaging tactical battle, but it was two moment of class from Ormache and Irndtor that proved the difference, ensuring SK take the three points.

It certainly isn't dull watching Jan Mayen this season, at any rate. The front two of Valcárcel and Olsen have gelled wonderfully, and they scored another three goals between them at Red Star today. Red Star weren't to be outdone though, and scored three of their own past Jan Mayen's shaky defence to snatch a draw. Northbrook are having a good season so far, and taking a point home from the Landstadt is just reward for their fine performance in a 2-2 draw. In a Norscelt derby, Surtsey and Bjarnarey share the points, with an own goal each proving the unusual circumstances.

Sign of champions in the making? It is often said that any champion team should be able to win even when they're not playing well, and that's just what SK did in Solovetsky today - Ljungberg scoring the goal from an Irndtor corner. It wasn't pretty, but three points is three points. Another fine win for Torshavn as well, in what is turning out to be a fine season so far. Goals from Olsen and Krivac weren't enough for Jan Mayen on the day, as Michael Osic, Diegoche Lizaran, and Jorgen-Franz Bru snatch the points from the Victoria Stadium. St Paul take all three points in a seven goal thriller against Bjarnarey - Nao, Mackenzie, and two from Soreasu outscoring Forgrossand's hat trick for Bjarnarey.

Scapa Bay take all three points against Solovetsky in what could be a relegation six pointer already this early in the season. Two other teams that attracted concern at the start of the season, Bjarnarey and Northbrook, fight out a 1-1 draw meanwhile, Forgrossand and Knudsen with the goals in a hard fought and aggressive match. FC Cape St Paul are involved in the match of the day, coming back from two goals down at home to Yuzhny before stunning them in the second half. Jan Mayen are held to a goalless draw by fierce Norscelt rivals North Star, and Torshavn continue their strong show of form with a 4-0 demolition of Red Star Severny.

A third of the way into the season, there are a few surprises in the table. First amongst these is FC Torshavn's league position. Perhaps by virtue of a run of "easier" fixtures, they have had a fantastic run of form, and second in the table after ten games is honestly no less than they deserve. FC Cape St Paul have also snuck their way to the top of the table after quietly racking up the points in an efficient way, Nao and Mackenzie really blossoming as a partnership. Below the top two come Jan Mayen, SK, and East Franz in quick succession, showing that this is a real return to form for Jan Mayen. The demons from last season's start appear to have been well and truly banished, and in only ten games they have already scored an impressive 28 goals. The top four only have one defeat each, and its looking like its going to be a great title race already. In the mid table, Surtsey and Axel Heiburg are leading the pack chasing for the Globe Cup spots, accompanied by Northbrook Diamonds, which I don't think anyone saw coming. Islay Town and Bjarnarey come next, but may have their eyes more on the points columns of the bottom teams rather than those of the top teams. At the bottom, Atammik Zenith and Solovetsky Monastery are surprising nobody with the struggles, both with only one win each. Also with a solitary win are Red Star, though with five draws they are at least proving difficult to break down for other teams. North Star are having a disappointing season so far, and will look to push ahead in the remainder of the season.

In Divisjon Two, the teams you'd expect to be at the top of the table are right up there. Aasiaat, Resolute Storm, Severnaya Zemlya and Aleutia Volcanoes are all pressing hard for a return to the top flight. Rapid Jan Mayen continue to confound the pundits with their strong top half performances, but Koppen Rig Force fans will be disappointed that their team is lingering near the bottom of the table, flirting dangerously with successive relegations.

In Divisjon Three, things are almost inconceivably tight, with only three points separating 7th from 16th. The top three are opening out something of a gap however. Melville Celtic, Sturm Nuuk, and Hoyvik Town are the teams in question, with a greater gap between those three and the fourth place team Bennett and Zhokhov than there is between the aforementioned majority of the league.
