A big mix of French, Byzantine, Arabic and Islamic culture, held together by a very religious bent. Equality has been on upswing since the start of the 20th century to the point that women are frequently seen on the front lines, ghettos have more or less been eliminated and homosexuality is legal (though marriage is not). Traces of feudalism remain, such as the existence of noble titles and authority, as well as the Knights Templar and Teutonic Order being legitimate military forces in the nation.

Futuristic Moroccan Berber/Arabs in space, but take away Islam and replace it with a pagan religion that can be equally fanatical ("worships" the Dagnian solar system itself, add some elements of LaVeyan Satanism and similar individualist secular philosophies). There is also a strong level of tolerance to different sexualities like Northern Europe. There is also an attitude towards foreigners similar to that of Japan, though it is easy to become a citizen and just as easy to be accepted as completely Dagnian if you adopt our culture and language as your first. Otherwise you will always be an outsider.

Alexlantian culture is Alexlantian culture. There's not many cultures we can compare it to.

Architecture: Neo-Classical/Renaissance, Art Noveau, Romanesque. All are fortified in some way, however, except for the completely Art Noveau buildings.

Music: Alt. Rock, Blues Rock, and a few Punk rockers here and there.

Art: Alexlantian Realism, Surrealism, Protest Art

Politics: Anywhere from the far-left to center right, and anywhere from center-statist to libertarian. All are nationalist in some way or another, though.

Work Ethic: Very hard-working and industrious (German)

Religion: Church of the Revolution (A branch of Christianity that combines the Bible with Alexlantian revolutionary texts)

Philosophy/Ethics: Work hard for the good of one's family, oneself and one's country. Not necessarily in that order. Anything that makes the nation more safe and/or productive is ultimately a good thing, as long as it does not oppress any Alexlantians.

Food: American and some German, a little bit of Italian
