What's Your Favorite Winter Drink?

Postby Fellrike » Wed Nov 02, 2011 11:08 pm

What's your favorite winter drink?
It hasn't gotten very cold here in sunny Tucson, but I leave my widows open now, my air conditioning has been off for a while, but I've started drinking winter drinks just the same. One of my favorites is apple cider with brandy. What winter drinks do you enjoy, when the air gets chilly?

Eggnog and whatever alcohol happens to be on hand, which usually ends up being rum, because it's delicious. I don't care how fatty and bad it is for me, it's delicious with nutmeg. And the tears of children who only got coal this year.

You know, I could have sworn I made this same exact thread a few weeks ago...

In any case, Glogg. Scandinavian mulled wine - alcoholic or not, mix some merlot or whatever 50%+ alcohol you have on hand into it, it's amazing.

...I'm trying it with Everclear this year.

Probably hot chocolate, though egg nog is always nice.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.

Hot cocoa with marshmallows is one. I also like pumpkin spice tea, apple blossom tea with honey, and from Puerto Rico, coquito; a drink made from coconut milk, condensed milk, evaporated milk, cinnamon, 2 eggs (optional), ginger and white rum or brandy. It'd delicious.

Hot chocolate, most definitely.

No, no, that's what we have factory farms for. So the tears come in bottles, so I can add it to my eggnog! Especially good if you get it pre-frozen, so you can use them like icecubes. The more they melt, the more delicious sadness you get in the drink.

People who denounce the free market and voluntary exchange, and are for control and coercion, believe they have more intelligence and superior wisdom to the masses. What's more, they believe they've been ordained to forcibly impose that wisdom on the rest of us. Of course, they have what they consider good reasons for doing so, but every tyrant that has ever existed has had what he believed were good reasons for restricting the liberty of others.

Cider and Eggnog. They both feel like winter drinks for me. Also they're both great for cooling down on Queensland's warm winter.

I love getting sentimental about Winter. I like all the seasons in their own rights, but I like the atmosphere of Autumn and especially Winter, and I often find myself browsing images of various urban and forest snowscapes (I set the wallpaper on my school computer as a neighborhood under snow and Mars-like skyglow at night).

As for drinks, I'm a fan of hot chocolate with marshmallows or eggnog with perhaps some nutmeg (eggnog was a bit of an acquired taste for me, but 'tis good).
