Sicoutian Club Teams Reach Semifinals

The Lac-Seneca Ramblers and Riviere St-Denis Capitales have reached the semifinals of the world's premier club Gridiron domestic championship. This adds to the rising Sicoutian club success, starting with football club Lac-Drouin St-Pierre reaching the Globe Cup quarterfinals, the Ile Perrot Epee winning the world domestic Baseball championship, and now these gridiron teams. The Ramblers are the most recent Sicoutian champion, and the Capitales were the runners up. So, how'd they get here? Let's review each team's success, and then look at their top scorers.

Lac-Seneca Ramblers

Charleston Mountaineers 7-Lac-Seneca Ramblers 10
Lac-Seneca Ramblers 13-Rockport RipTide 3
Kiefland Arrowheads 3-Lac-Seneca Ramblers 20
Lac-Seneca Ramblers 10-Sunset Cliffs Eagles 3
Faedrulhum Senators 10-Lac-Seneca Ramblers 17

Les Ramblers have played a stingy defence: only 26 points against in the 5 games played so far. The offense has held up their end of the stick: 80 points. That's 20 points per game. 5.2 points are given up per game. So who's leading the team? Let's find out.

QB Leaders
1-Nihan Danje-76/85-875 yards-4TD'S-1 interception-0 fumbles
2-Peter Dendrickson-45/52-672 yards-2 TD's-3 interceptions-1 fumble
3-Marty Mianmar-51/72-548 yards-1 TD's-0 interceptions-3 fumbles

Defensive Leaders
1-Hubert Veiller-4 sacs-2 interceptions
2-Lois Lancaxier-2 sacs, 1 interception
3-Louis Louchambert-1 sac, 0 interceptions

Offensive Leaders
1-Urshawn LeDus-121 yards, 2 TD's
2-Mista Mines-102 yards, 3 TD's
3-Rover Robertson-98 yards, 1 TD

Now, in the semifinals, the Ramblers take on the Kohlenburg Poets, who got by the Tangku City Isis 9-3 in the quarterfinals. From the Allumanic States, they are led by QB John Redman. Will the Ramblers advance to the finals? Find out soon!

Riviere St-Denis Capitales
Riviere St-Denis Capitales 31-Western Wizards 7
Riviere St-Denis Capitales 23-Tocanto Scholars 0
Riviere St-Denis Capitales 19-Chun City 57ers 9
Compton Tartars 16-Riviere St-Denis Capitales 0
Due to protests from the Ko-orenite delegation, all number 2 seeds advanced to the octofinals. Due to this, Les Capitales advanced.
Rome Otters 7-Riviere St-Denis Capitales 24
Riviere St-Denis Capitales 23-Compton Tartars 7

It all came down to the last game. In the rematch of a Compton Tartars 16-0 victory over the Riviere St-Denis Capitales, the teams would play again for a spotin the semifinals. Compton stuck early, but Riviere St-Denis made them give up their first points just 2 minutes later, in a field goal. That put the score at 7-3. Les Capitales then scored a touchdown to make the score 10-7. The 3rd quarter would begin with a touchdown, 17-7. Two more field goals were scored, and the game was won 23-7. In 6 games, Les Capitales gave up 7.6 points per game. On the offensive side, Les Capitales scored 20 points per game. This looks similar to Les Ramblers, except Les Capitales actually played 1 extra game, against the Western Wizards. Now, let's take a look at the stats for Les Capitales

QB Leaders
1-Yves Berbeu-76/91-6 TD'S-0 interceptions-1 fumble
2-Buddy Bolerson-62/81-5 TD'S-1 interception-2 fumbles
3-Niko Deslars-54/71-2 TD'S-1 interception-1 fumble

Defensive Leaders
1-Marvi Laurston-3 sacs-1 interception
2-Johnson Jamieson-2 sacs-0 interceptions
3-Luis Carlos de Juera-1 sac-2 interceptions

Offensive Leaders
1-Peirk Lorners-140 yards-4 TD's
2-Bobert Vallaire-121 yards-3 TD's
3-Arden Sloan-103 yards-2 TD's

After getting by Compton, Les Capitales take on the Copenhagen Bears, also of Allamunic States. They're led by QB Daene Maarks, and had to get by the Xavier Knights of Yesopalitha to reach the semifinals.

This Saturday, Les Ramblers will take on Kohlenburg, and on Sunday, Les Capitales will take on Copenhagen. Will it be an all-Sicoutian final, and all-Allumanic final, or a mixed Sicoutian-Allumanic Solidarity Bowl? Find out soon!

After being alerted to an error by the Sicoutian delegation, we have corrected the seeding of Lac-Seneca and Kohlenburg. Due to points differential, Lac-Seneca will host their semifinal at home in Sicoutimont. The digital copies of our announcement to the contrary have been corrected.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, we apologize for any inconvenience caused by our error, and again bid all competitors the best of luck.

AKA: freezing cold, might rain enough to get muddy.

Congratulations to both of the teams which will advance to the Solidarity Bowl. Best of luck to both clubs, and commiserations to the 42 which did not make it this far, not to mention all the other clubs which did not qualify from their leagues this season.

OOC: Once again, Sicoutimont and Allamunnic States have 24 hours to RP for the final. All bonuses have been reset to their first-cutoff levels. If RPs are received from both teams before 24 hours has elapsed, I will go ahead and scorinate the final, unless there is any objection from within the Executive Council.

Congratulations to the Ramblers, our first Sicoutian champions and perhaps a sign of changing dynamics in the IGCL.

You may submit your leagues at any time. I will post again in this thread to declare a cutoff. Please feel free to discuss procedural changes in the discussion thread, where anyone's idea may be adopted in future editions.

AGL 2014-2015 Season Draft
(Only first-rounders will be shown here; other players will be added to team rosters with a note indicating where they were picked)

First Round
1. Tarraco Legion - Graagur Vaalhulmsunn (QB, Skarrsboro Federal University)
The Legion look to help turn around their fortunes by drafting the 6'6", 250lb, strong-armed signal-caller out of SFU. Vaalhulmsunn was considered by many to be the top quarterback in this year's draft class, and the Legion's balanced offense should benefit from his play-making ability. Vaalhulmsunn has no injury concerns, played in a pro-style offense in college, and can make all the throws a pro would be called on to make with good accuracy. The only doubt anyone has is if his decision-making is sufficient to work for him at the pro-level.

2. Naakstbaen Nighthawks - Ryan Olson (QB, Frederick University)
The Nighthawks address a position of need by drafting Ryan Olson out of Frederick University. Olson, at 6'3" and 234lbs is not the biggest signal-caller in this draft, but he's got durability and is as skilled and accurate as any other quarterback taken this early, with some good mobility to boot. Olson's only real knock is that he's not quite as strong-armed as some others. That said, if he has time to throw, he can still place the ball anywhere on the field. He just can't do it with the same effortless grace that some others can. There is the question, though of if his college success was due to personal talent or a good system (he played in a spread offense).

3. Starhemburg Stars - Hans Skmyt (OT, Leif's Harbor College)
The Stars take with the third-overall pick an offensive tackle to protect newly-signed quarterback Theo Cragg to help cement the Stars' pass-first offense. The 6'7", 346lb tackle has excellent hand-work, excellent footwork, and is overall very skilled and refined as a lineman, as is typical with those who come out of Leif's Harbor College.

4. Meuse Motors - Boris Kleiner (LB, Koenigshalloe Royal University)
The Motors needed a physical presence in the middle of their defensive front-seven, and Kleiner is a good, safe option. Kleiner was very productive at Koenigshalloe Royal, and was especially-effective against the run, an area in which the Motors need a lot of help. Kleiner, at 6'4", 262lbs, Kleiner is a solid tackler and may even be able to add to the pass-rush. With good lateral speed, he may also be useful in coverage, making this a very solid pick for Meuse.

5. Waldenhuld Huskarls - Jarvis Taylor (HB, Thomasburg State University)
The Huskarls boost their rushing attack by adding explosive tailback Jarvis Taylor out of Thomasburg State. Taylor's explosive rushing both up the middle and to the outside make him a valuable tailback for Waldenhuld, and Taylor, durable at 5'11" and 228lbs, and although he'll be working in a rushing committee, could be a devastating offensive weapon as a primary back.

6. San Humberto Hounds - Erik Graal (WR, Skarrsboro Federal University)
The Hounds use the sixth-overall pick to select an explosive wide receiver out of Skarrsboro Federal to help give franchise QB James Claybourne (last year's first-overall pick) a legitimate weapon. Graal is a big (6'1", 217lbs), strong, speedster who has a nose for the ball, who should give the Hounds' big-armed gunslinger a viable deep threat that can stretch defenses.

7. Derrick Crimson Tide - William Brass (LB, University of Fililund - Filia)
The Crimson Tide helps bolster an aging and thinning linebacking corps by using the seventh-overall pick to take UFF's William Brass, a prolific and physically-gifted linebacker who should contribute at his best on the outside, using his straight-ahead speed and nose for the ball, as well as his skills in coverage and prodigious tackling abilities. Good, if slightly-less-than-perfect pick.

8. Old Bastion Guards - Eddard Ulrik (QB, Northport State University)
Old Bastion takes a quarterback with the #8 overall pick, generally-regarded to be the missing piece to their offense, which is already deep on receivers. The 6'4", 243lb quarterback out of Northport State is a precise passer, skilled at both the long and short pass. The Guards made a good pick, and considering Ulrik was actually widely-projected to go at #2 to Naakstbaen, this is practically a steal.

9. Filia Chargers (from Kaisareia Cataphracts for QB Anderson, 7th Rnd Pick) - Rikard Shraedur (TE, University of Skraelingia - Udunsfurd)
Of equal importance to the pick itself is what happened to acquire the pick. Filia acquired the ninth overall pick from Kaisareia in exchange for long-time franchise QB Joseph Anderson. They used it to take a play0making tight-end out of USk at Udunsfurd to help give their new franchise QB some help. Shraedur, at 6'6" and 259lbs is a valuable blocker and pass-catcher, meaning Kaisareia also adds a useful blocker player who should contribute greatly to the passing game and running game. There's also no real knock on Shraedur's skills and abilities, as he's flashed excellent hands and a propensity for making big catches and big blocks.

10. Oviedo Lions - Samuel Drake (DT, Tripoli University)
The Lions bolster a defense that was poor against the run last year by adding big (6'5", 342lb), run-stuffing defensive tackle Sam Drake. Drake's quick off the ball and has some great lateral speed, and has excellent skills with his hands and at working his leverage. The Senators' run-defense still needs some work, but Drake should go a long way to helping them stop giving up yards up the middle.

11. Southport Sharks - Erik Grimmur (LB, University of Skraelingia at Wilsonville)
The Sharks, looking to bolster their defense, take linebacker Erik Grimmur out of USk Wilsonville with the eleventh-overall pick. Grimmur's another typical Allamunnic play-making linebacker, big and strong at 6'4" and 264lbs and a rock-solid tackler. Grimmur's skills in coverage are a little less impressive than the other two linebackers taken so far, but his value in the pass-rush is arguably even greater than either of them.

12. Dreichium Bulldogs - Aaron Gil (CB, Koenigshalloe Royal University)
The Bulldogs strengthen a rather poor secondary by adding play-making cornerback Aaron Gil out of Koenigshalloe Royal. Gil is a big corner (6'1", 217lbs) and quite fast, making him excellent as a cover corner, a strong tackler, and good on the blitz. Gil does come with a grain of salt, having had some off-field issues during college, including having a DUI. However, if he avoids making off-field screw-ups, the Bulldogs have just gotten themselves the best corner in the draft.

13. Skarrsboro Lancers - Graagur Waalturs (LB, University of Onneria)
The Lancers add a strong linebacker to help protect the middle against both the run and in coverage. The 6'5" and 265lb linebacker will be a better option both in the middle for preventing both passes and rushing, as well as being quite likely to bring some added heat to the Lancers' increasingly-anemic pass-rush.

14. Chasse Spartans - Andrew Lampard (CB, Thomasburg State University)
The Spartans nab arguably the best cornerback in the draft (due to having both on-field talent and off-field discipline) in Andrew Lampard, helping to bolster a somewhat one-dimensional defense. At 6'0" and 215lbs, Lampard is big enough to handle just about any receiver he might be put up against, and if he didn't show great speed at the combines, what he showed on game tape against a high level of competition leaves doubt that he may actually be better than Aaron Gil.

15. Damascus Dragons - Kyle Walther (C, University of Ostlund at Old Bastion)
The Dragons get some help on their offensive line by taking 6'4", 324lb center Kyle Walther out of UOst Old Bastion. Walther is an aggressive blocker, as well as having a good head for the game, skilled at calling blocking schemes, and in keeping his quarterback upright and feeding the ball reliably and efficiently. Good, can't-miss pick for the Dragons who have needs all over the place.

16. Danzig Knights - Derek Miller (WR, Koenigshalloe Royal University)
The Knights help out Donnie Weller by giving him an exceptional target in Koenigshalloe's Derek Miller, arguably the best receiver in the draft (which makes it odd that he was taken behind Erik Graal). However, the Knights won't be complaining as they get a steal in Miller, who was projected by many to go in the top ten picks.

17. Ardrik Raiders - Mathias Weitz (DT, Leif's Harbor College)
Weitz is probably the most athletic defensive tackle in this draft, relatively small for a tackle at 6'4" and 320lbs. Weitz wowed at combines with his speed, both straight-ahead and laterally, as well as his nose for the ball. He may not be as well-suited for plugging up holes in the front, but combined with a more run-stopping-inclined tackle, Weitz has the potential to be a big difference-maker for the Raiders up-front.

18. Aldhuld Dukes - Felix Jorgesun (WR, Rumanika College)
The Dukes add a versatile threat at wide-receiver in Felix Jorgesun, a 6'0", 205lb receiver out of Rumanika College who had a propensity for making daring catches over the middle and tip-toeing the sidelines for big receptions. Also fast enough to be a home-run threat, Jorgesun should help the Dukes' anemic passing attack.

19. Faedrulhulm Senators - Thomas Votto (WR, Zagreb University)
The Senators give Amelia Danley another weapon by adding Thomas Votto, a receiver out of Zagreb who will provide a valuable deep threat. At 6'2" and 220lbs, he should be able to provide a physical presence downfield who can make all the necessary catches.

20. Draakurr Jarls - Izaak Tannenburg (QB, Tripoli University)
The Jarls replace the departed Eddard Skaellun (who was signed by Northport) after spending a year with various journeymen under center. Tannenburg is a big, strong-armed signal-caller on the typical Allamunnic model, typical of launching the ball deep down the field and standing at 6'5" and 245lbs. The only real concern about Tannenburg (that saw him slide down out of the top quarter) is the concern that his success in a spread system might not translate well into Draakurr's pro-style offense.

21. Capua Cardinals - Ole Braandt (DT, University of Ostrea)
The Cardinals use the 21st-overall pick on Ole Braandt, a big defensive tackle who should help them to prevent from hemorrhaging rushing yards like they have in previous years. Braandt is a big, run-stuffing tackle at 6'5" and 342lbs and who is very strong, as he tied with defensive end prospect Andrik Heer for the most bench-press repetitions at the National Combine. He's not as technically skilled as a few other tackles, but his strength and nose for the ball should make that a non-issue.

22. Antioch Titans - Nicholas Shonne (CB, Southport University)
The Titans boost a somewhat suspect secondary by adding speedy corner Nicholas Shonne. Shonne is not the biggest corner at 5'11" and 200lbs, but he is big enough to stick close to most receivers, and he is actually faster than many receivers. Combine that with a knack for making big plays, very good hands, and natural agility, and the Titans have gotten a strong defender and probably a competent returner, as well.

23. Shieldsburg Warriors - Phillip McNair (OG, Leif's Harbor College)
The Warriors' rushing attack has needed a little bit of help, and it will likely get it in the form of an absolutely vicious guard in Phillip McNair. McNair is at about the ideal size for an Allamunnic guard at 6'4" and 335lbs, and he also has a mean-streak ten feet wide and is very strong, as well as being technically-skilled; McNair is very good at using his hands, and his footwork is considered by most to be second-to-none within his draft class. Of course, what else would anyone expect from a Leif's Harbor College product?

24. Copenhagen Bears - Eddard Bronnsunn (OG, University of Dunnmaar)
The Bears, also needing some help fueling their rushing game, were forced to settle for the next-best guard in the draft. In any other league, that might be a problem, but Eddard Bronnsunn is a good-sized (6'3" and 318lbs), top-notch, skilled guard. Either way, the Bears should get some help in pounding the ball on the ground.

25. Vienna Barons (from Rone Otters for 1st-round pick and LB McMurphy) - Vitus Holt (LB, Innsbruck University)
The Barons made the second-biggest splash in terms of moves, trading with the Rone Otters to move up to #25 overall. It is something of a wonder that Vitus Holt, a physical freak of a linebacker (standing at 6'4" and 270lbs) out of Innsbruck University, was available this far down the board. He slipped down past some other linebackers probably because of lingering injury concerns; though by far the most physically-talented linebacker in the draft, two ACL tears in college have raised concerns about his durability. That said, after amazing workouts and showing at the combine, as well as his propensities as a natural play-maker, it is easy to see why the Barons are rolling the dice on him.

26. Kohlenburg Poets - John Brantley (CB, Thomasburg State University)
The Poets boost a particular area of need by drafting John Brantley out of TSU, getting a big, physical corner (6'0", 215lbs) with some big play-making ability. Brantley distinguished himself his senior year at Thomasburg State, notching five interceptions in ten regular season games, with thirteen passes defensed in that time.

27. Daalfuurge Gears - Riddick Warfield (OL, University of Stalhamark at Rone)
The Gears restock their offensive line, the unit so critical to their success, by drafting US Rone product Riddick Warfield. Warfield, a big, road-grading offensive lineman at 6'4" and 343lbs, Warfield played at both guard and tackle in college, and might see playing time at any part of the line in Daalfuurge.

28. Northwatch Mustangs - Danyl Hendriks (CB, Northwatch State University)
Secondary was flagged as an area of need for the Mustangs, and the team has looked to address it by taking the best available corner in Danyl Hendriks. Hendriks is another big, sturdy corner at 6'1" and 221lbs, with a nose for the ball and some excellent jumping ability and speed. Realistically speaking, Hendriks is excellent for the Mustangs because he can also be used as a safety.

29. Inneville Capitals - Kyle Lundgren (HB, Danielson University)
The Caps triple-option attack runs on good tailbacks and good offensive linemen. The Caps' current stable of running backs are aging, so they have begun the job of replacing them, drafting Danielson University tailback Lundgren. At 6'0" and 230lbs, Lundgren is about the typical Allamunnic running back, and he should prove a useful option for the Caps moving forward.

30. Capua Cardinals (from Zagreb Wolves for OG Schryer and 3rd and 4th round picks) - Sygmund Wulf (DB, Inneville Federal University)
The Cardinals bolster a porous defense by adding IFU safety Sygmund Wulf, and extremely productive and versatile player who gives the weak Capua secondary a hard-hitting play-maker. At 6'2" and 227lbs, Wulf should bring a very physical presence and should immediately contribute.

31. Frostport Pioneers - Erik Waalturs (HB, University of Ostrea at Danzig)
The Pioneers give their rush-first attack a potent weapon by using the 31st-overall pick to take UOD tailback Erik Waalturs. Waalturs has the necessary build to be a primary-back in an Allamunnic rushing attack, and has the speed and toughness to make big plays happen. Overall, a good, safe and solid pick for Frostport.

32. Chasse Spartans (from Grimmeberg Broncos for DB Carter, WR Villiers, 7th Rnd Picks) - Vylhulm Karlsunn (WR, Thomasburg City University)
The Spartans dealt two developmental players who weren't panning out, along with a 7th round draft pick, in order to get a second first-round pick. They then used that pick to draft a wide-receiver to help their newly-acquired QB Jarrett Clay. Karlsunn has all the makings of an elite receiver, even if he seems to be a little less "pro-ready" than some of the other first-round receivers, with elite speed, a big (6'4", 224 lbs) frame and positively magnetic hands.

33. Tripoli Pirates - Mark Jurgensun (DT, Leif's Harbor College)
The Pirates add some youth and depth behind the aging Baxter Dwight and Brandt Fox, arguably the most critical hole in a talent-stacked roster; the Pirates lack depth, and need to start grooming the two tackles' heirs-apparent, or they'll be left with some troubles playing the run in a few years. Jurgensun is big (6'6", 3350lbs), fairly athletic defensive tackle who should be able to play either inside or outside for the Pirates.

34. Mobilston Tigers - Dennis Dwyer (DE, University of Vymsaea)
The Tigers bolster their defensive line with explosive defensive end Dennis Dwyer, a stud out of UV. Dwyer is a rock-solid run-stopping force off the edge, but where he really shines is as a pass-rusher, able to push inside or rush to the outside to generate lots of pressure and force sacks and hurries.

35. Leif’s Harbor Vikings - Tyrr Ulfskyn (LB, University of Tyrrswatch at Shieldsburg)
The Vikings add impressive linebacker Tyrr Ulfskyn in a bid to boost both their rush and pass defense. The big (6'4", 263lbs) and athletic Ulfskyn was passed on earlier in the round largely because of underwhelming senior year production. However, all the signs point to Leif's Harbor adding a dangerous player against both the run and pass in the underrated linebacker.

36. Northport Packers - Roland Ostmark (DE, University of Tyrrswatch at Tyrrswatch)
The Packers boost their run defense by taking versatile tackle/end Roland Ostmark out of UTT with the 36th overall pick. Ostmark is at just the right size to play a 3-4 defensive end or a 4-3 defensive tackle, at 6'4" and 330lbs. Gifted with long arms, good lateral speed to complement straight-ahead rushing abilities, and prodigious strength, Ostmark should be able to set an edge and contribute to the pass rush as needed.

37. Rone Otters (from Barons) - Dorik Fahlsburger (LT, University of Skraelingia at Skarrsboro)
The Otters still were able to find a franchise left-tackle to protect Danny Mella, in spite of trading down with the Barons to also gain pass-rusher Phillip McMurphy. Fahlsburger was a three-year starter in college, and was more than capable of standing up against the best pass-rushers in the country on the college circuit, as well as having good skills in run-blocking.

38. Thurrsfeld Axemen - Ingryd Skmyt (QB, University of Ostrea)
The Axemen needed a quarterback to help a team with a built-up defense, offensive line, and stable of running backs finally take the next step and become a greater factor in the AGL. Skmyt is a skilled quarterback with a strong arm, good vision and instincts, but with some questions about her ability to make snap decisions and see her receivers and nerves. Skmyt seems like a good pick, but it won't be until she sees playing time until anyone will be really sure.

39. Filia Chargers - Caarlus Hasselvander (OT, St. Theodore Catholic College)
The Chargers return to STCC to draft what they hope is another franchise player in offensive tackle Caarlus Hasselvander. Hasselvander should be able to protect whoever their starting quarterback is well from either side, and should be able to bring some strong blocking to a lackluster rushing attack.

40. Dunnmaar Destroyers - Rikard Braanur (HB, Skarrsboro Federal University)
The Destroyers look to local prospect Rikard Braanur to give them a new primary tailback. Braanur has all the explosiveness a rushing attack could want, and he's big enough to break tackles with his bruising running style. He's also got some good hands out of the backfield, making Braanur a steal for Dunnmaar with the 40th-overall pick.

41. Thomasburg Boilermakers - Baaldr Daarnholt (DL, Collins University)
The Boilermakers use the 41st-overall pick to take Baaldr Daarnholt, a versatile defensive lineman with imposing physical tools and great technique that will help make him an immediate contributor on the Boilermakers' defensive line. Daarnholt is known for basically swallowing ball-carriers whole, and has the speed necessary to contribute to the pass rush.

42. Wilsonville Monitors - Alt Riktur (WR, University of Skraelingia at Wilsonville)
The Monitors gave Mark Lindstrom some help by adding an extremely-talented wide receiver in the physical and speedy Alt Riktur. Riktur has the size to muscle out most corners, and the athleticism to leap up to make catches and hold securely to them as he goes. He also has some excellent hands, and his route-running is probably the best in this draft class. His speed is explosive, if a little unremarkable compared to other top-flight receivers.

43. Thomasburg Ironmongers - Brandon Johnson (C, Leif's Harbor College)
with the 43rd-overall pick, the Ironmongers address an aging and thinning unit on their team: the 'Mongers' vaunted offensive line. Johnson is an athletic center who excels at picking up blocks even immediately after the snap, and has the skills needed to be an elite interior lineman in the AGL. Johnson rotated freely during his time at Leif's Harbor College, so the biggest question is if he is up to the pressure of playing full games.

44. Nocksburg Razorbacks - Damien Chen (WR, Naakstbaen University)
The Razorbacks give prolific quarterback Will Jordan an explosive target by drafting Damien Chen, a well-rounded, explosive receiver out of Naakstbaen University. Chen is a reliable target with crisp route-running skills and good hands, as well as top-flight speed. So why was he drafted so low? Chen has occasionally been said to have an "abrasive" personality, but it's likely that his skills will make that something that the Razorbacks are willing to put up with in the locker room (or think they can suppress it sufficiently that it won't be an issue).

45. Innsbruck Ravens - Andrik Skarrsgard (LB, Northwatch State University)
The Ravens bolster an aging defense by adding versatile linebacker Andrik Skarrsgard. Skarrsgard is about average-sized for an upper-level Allamunnic linebacker (at about 6'3" and 260lbs), with good solid lateral and vertical speed, and with good tackling fundamentals. He has yet to flash much in the way of skill in pass coverage, as he was not often called upon to take up those responsibilities in college. However, all signs point to Innsbruck getting a rock-solid, versatile linebacker who should be an immediate contributor.

46. Tyrrswatch Mastodons - Waldryk Bolton (LB, Tyrrswatch State University)
The Mastodons did the exact same thing as Innsbruck, only in their case using it to add youth and depth to an aging linebacking unit by adding the explosive playmaker Waldryk Bolton. Bolton's raw combine numbers are actually a little below average for his position, but he flashes astounding potential on game tape, and he is a good, instinctive player.

47. Costello Castles - Maarkus Fredrik (HB, Innsbruck University)
To bolster a rushing attack powered primarily by good line play rather than explosive tailbacks, the Castles add Innsbruck U's Maarkus Fredrik, an explosive, slashing rusher who should bring some big-play ability to the otherwise rugged, reliable, and vanilla rushing attack. Fredrik is big enough to break tackles and run over defensive backs, but has the necessary speed to zip by front-seven defenders and make big plays down the field.

48. Koenigshalloe Kings - Jakob Riktur (DB, Koenigshalloe Royal University)
The Kings use the final pick in the first round to bolster their secondary, taking safety Jakob Riktur out of their local pipeline school. Riktur is a big, physical safety that the Kings can use as a play-maker all over the field; at 6'2" and 230lbs, he's got the size to be an excellent tackler, is a hard-hitter, has great technique, and despite having only average speed for a defensive back, has great instincts that allow him to make big plays in both the offensive backfield and the defensive backfield.

ISLAND BOWL LI SEASON

During the Island Bowl LI season, the Miyagawa Whalers lost their first game in Week 9 to the Naitama Kamikaze. The Whalers 8-0 start was the best in team history, and the Whalers would lose only twice more the rest of the season. In the playoffs, they were seeded fourth because the three division winners were automatically seeded higher by virtue of winning their divisions. The Whalers had the second best record in the conference and the league at 13-3. Only Central Divison mates Naitama Kamikaze had a better record, at 14-2.

Running back Tokichiro Sanda was named Island Bowl LI MVP after a 122 yard, two touchdown Island Bowl performance. Just a week later, he was named to the upcoming World Bowl roster for the Fujisawan Territories. Cornerback Natsu "Gator" Sakai is the only other Whaler to receive the honor of being named to the upcoming Fujisawan Territories World Bowl roster.

The New Koshima Conquerors reached the playoffs for the first time in eleven years, and vastly improved on their previous 8-8 record last season. The Conquerors, despite an 11-5 regular season record, were ill equipped and outmatched against Miyagawa in Island Bowl LI. The Whalers led the game in its entirety, and New Koshima could not put up points until the third quarter.

Wide receiver Tetsui Kurosawa is the only Conqueror to make the upcoming World Bowl roster for the Fujisawan Territories.

Following another successful season of the Territorial Gridiron Football League (TGFL), football fans can look forward to the LII TGFL Draft as well as the upcoming World Bowl season, which will feature the Fujisawan Territories after a long hiatus in international gridiron football.

Whittoria Football League 1983 Season

Postby Whittoria » Sat Jun 02, 2018 11:04 pm

The League's expansion from 10 to 24 teams has resulted in a more competitive league with a longer season, as well as a few relocations of original franchises. 1983 in its entirety is as follows.

The WFL reorganized into an Eastern and Western Conference, with plans to further split into three divisions in each conference. The top four teams in each conference qualify for the playoffs.

All teams in this "first" new season had a base strength of 5 out of 10. They were re-strengthened based on total match points at the end of the regular season out of a possible 33 points (Such as a 27 out of 33 for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference)

Before we dive in, just a few fun notes (OOC: Keep in mind Whittoria is basically the USA with a smaller population and shares some professional sports teams, because originality is SO hard):

-The Seattle Seahawks have been moved from Seattle to Vancouver, because that seems like something that would irritate Seattle people
-The Dallas Cowboys have been moved to Oklahoma City, because that seems like something that would piss off people from Dallas AND Oklahoma City, and that greatly amuses me.
-The Las Vegas Cocaine Cowboys. They have a rivalry with Oklahoma City because they both have Cowboys in their name. Steve Seligman is their head coach. He is the original Cocaine Cowboy.
-Lots of defunct USFL/WFL/WLAF/Continental Football League teams. They don't exist. They had cool names and logos and jerseys. I'm using them. Try to stop me. I don't care.
-The only team that didn't get a five out of ten strength rating was the Dover Manatees. Their story is that Delaware, being the most depressing state in the Union, has the worst team with the worst stadium, with the most boring uniforms and mascot. Their home uniforms are grey. Their away uniforms are grey. Their mascot is a sluggish sea cow that is also grey. Everything is grey. Life is grey. No one cares. The owner can't be bothered to move the team. This football team is the living embodiment of a punching bag and learned helplessness. This amuses me.
-I have no idea where Guinburgh is in Whittoria. That will be a storyline gag at some point. Kind of like how Due West is here in SC. Due West of what? Maybe Guinburgh. Probably not.
-The Dallas Dakotas are in Dallas, SD, not Dallas TX. Dallas has a population of 120. Shut up.
-The New Zealand Patriots is a gag borrowed from Walter Football's Emmit on the Brink series, where the Patriots have been caught cheating, their punishment is that Bill Belichick is fired and they have to be coached by Emmit Smith, who accidentally flew to New Zealand instead of New England. This is a tribute. And yes, they do make the Doggone Playoff in 1983.
-In previous editions of Madden I had an in joke with one of my friends where the Abalama Crimson Tide are caught paying their players, and as punishment they must join the NFL, replacing the worst team at the time, the Jacksonville Jaguars (because Cleveland is invisible, so much so they were'nt even crossing my mind when we came up with this). Abalama now plays in the AFC South, and the Jaguars now play in the SEC West. Students who used to attend Abalama no longer do so, instead they must attend and take classes at the Jacksonville Jaguars Football Franchise.
-I told you that story to tell you this one, the Crimson Tide will probably join the WFL and replace one of the really bad teams, but not Dover, because there's nothing noteworthy about that.

Team Relocations:
The Douglas Generals are now the New York Crimson Giants. Starting in 1984 they will be the New Amsterdam Crimson Giants, because that sounds way cooler.
The Lugoff-Elgin Demons have graduated high school and are now the SoCal Sun, because who gets tired of living in sand and fireants where the weather is either, hot, hotter than forty hells, humid, and thunderstorm?
The Pulaski Redskins are now the Indianapolis Rangers, and EVERYONE IS SUPER SALTY ABOUT IT.
The Columbia Rangers are now the Atlanta Vulcans.
The Gros Inlet Hurricanes are now the New Orleans Breakers. Name change was mandatory.
The Castries Packers are now the Los Angeles Pharaohs. Haha, instant success!
And Finally, the New Salisbury (wherever the heck that is) Bears are now bankrupt and folded as a franchise. Got 'em. They'll probably be back when the league expands.
