[Passed] Repeal "Liberate Wonderful Paradise"

Postby Goddess Relief Office » Mon Aug 22, 2011 10:05 pm

Repeal "Liberate Wonderful Paradise"
A resolution to repeal previously passed legislation

Category: Repeal | Resolution: SC#48 | Proposed by: Goddess Relief Office

Description: The Security Council,

RECOGNIZING that Security Council Resolution #48 was intended to prevent Wonderful Paradise from being refounded by invaders from NAZI EUROPE,

NOTING that subsequent events did not turn out as planned, for the appearance of the resolution motivated the invaders to advance their plans to refound the nominee,

DISMAYED that NAZI EUROPE attempted to refound Wonderful Paradise while SC#48 was still being voted upon,

THANKFUL that the worst did not happen, for defenders were able to pre-empt the refounding on March 14, 2011,

NOTING that SC#48 passed on March 17, 2011, three days after the region was already refounded by defenders who returned foundership of Wonderful Paradise to the native community,

RECOGNIZING that while the resolution was noble in intent, the refounding of Wonderful Paradise all but invalidated SC#48,

UNDERSTANDING that natives of Wonderful Paradise, including the founder Capital Knockers and the delegate Ovlov United, wish to repeal SC#48 and free the region from the resolution's limitations. For example, the resolution prevents future delegates from password-protecting the region in order to control invaders or spammers, and severely limits the community's ability to refound the region in the unlikely event that the founder ceases to exist,

ENDEAVORING to honor the natives' request and restore full sovereignty rights to Wonderful Paradise,

HEREBY RETIRES SC#48 "Liberate Wonderful Paradise".

The discussion has been going for months and I have lost the original telegrams (being the founder of the Yggdrasil region, my inbox gets quite a bit of new telegrams every week). Here are the more recent statements of support from the natives:

Demphor, on supporting the repeal (via telegram):
The Consitutional Empire of Demphor (Saved. 7 days ago)

Speaking on behalfs of the Democratic Republic of Wonderful Paradise, all our region really wants to be is normal, because we are not founderless, it would be useless to have a liberation of a region with a founder, we support the repeal of the liberation.

Ovlov United, on whether he would like to co-sponsor the resolution (via telegram):
The Station Wagon Utopia of Ovlov United (Saved. 6 days ago)

Yep. go ahead.

I’m happy with this. It is a superfluous resolution that was intended for good, but considering the region’s current situation, if the liberation resolution is ever employed, it will most likely be for harm.

FOR the repeal.

I support this. Nicely written and is according to native wishes. The region is safely overseen by a founder.

Rule 4 violation.

I'd also suggest changing that to "defenders which".

Why? They have a founder who can sort things out. Can't see that there is a need for a repeal.
"Send forth all legions! Do not stop the attack until the city is taken! Slay them all!"
>Can I invade other people's regions?

Yes. The practice of "region crashing," where a group of nations all move to a region with the aim of seizing the WA Delegate position, is part of the game. Certain groups within NationStates are particularly adroit at this, and can attack very quickly.
>Once I've taken over a region, can I eject everyone else?

You can try. Invader Delegates tend to have very little Regional Influence, which makes ejecting long-time residents difficult. But Delegates can be as kind, generous, evil, or despotic as they wish. It's up to regional residents to elect good Delegates.

Logic is the other way around: they have no need for a Liberation resolution to remain in force.

Either way, it's up to the natives.

FOR.

though i've always wondered, it seems like a great way to get a resolution passed, repeal one of the libs where the region now has a founder.

Yeah, although I'd rather not have the SC queue clogged by this kind of resolutions, in case we need a Liberation.
This one right now is fine, though.

Is there really an urgent need for this repeal, regardless what the "natives" want?

Asking as delegate sedge (rather than modly) - can the founder Capital Knockers be relied upon to remain active? Currently it's 19 days since they logged in.

That's a yes. As said in the resolution, the founder nation is a "puppet" nation created by defenders which was later given to the natives. I am not at liberty to who controls it, but I can tell you that the native who controls the founder nation is active within 1 day ago.
