Classical Music Lovers Thread

Postby Slaytesics » Thu Aug 18, 2011 8:27 pm

Unlike most genres of music, ironically we act the most childlike. Ironically inspired by the metal thread.

So here is our thread to yell at the top of ours lungs the following opinions

(and yes, this means any era)

HEY FUCKERS! BEETHOVEN ALL THE WAY, THE OTHER COMPOSERS CAN SUCK MY-

or

Because I listen to Classical music, my favorite recording is much better than your favorite recording

or

I hate atonal composers, they know nothing about harmony

or

I love atonal composers, schoenberg was a master of harmony

But really, we all know Philip Glass and Stravinsky are the best composers of all time, no contest. (Well, still lesser to myself that is)

Come at me bro 8)

Saint-Saëns is pretty great, so is Penderecki.

I am not very into classical music, to be honest, it feels too sophisticated to me. I do like Grieg, though.

I like most of his work. It is somewhat close to folk-music, much of it, which I like. And he comes from my part of Norway (the Western Part)

You might like Dvorak(similar to folk music, he uses themes and such from it), don't fall into the "classical music is too sophisticated" premonition. I fell into that, and if I hadn't fallen into that, I'd be a much better composer because of it. Just go out there, and enjoy music, and if anyone tries to shove knowledge on you, fuck em'; because that's not what you're there for.

LOL I LYK MOZART 'N STUFF

Haha. Well, in all seriousness, I *do* like Mozart. His music just makes me so happy. And the Clarinet Concerto is incredibly fun to play, despite it's occasionally ridiculous runs. I'm also a big fan of Prokofiev, Bizet, Piazolla and Holst. His (Holst's) Suites in E flat and F for marching band are just incredible.

I'm somehow partial to classical music, as opposed to my siblings who prefer Bieber, Brown, and co'y. However, as far as composers are concerned, I've no preference. I could listen to Verdi's Requiem (which I am doing right now) one day and Rimsky-Korsakov's Scheherazade on another; that's how diverse my taste in classical music is.
If believing in God means I am less than human in the eyes of some, fine; I will wear my yellow badge with pride.

I like many kinds of music, classical is one of them. Mozart, Beethoven, Grieg, Tchaikovsky, Chopin, Bach, any of them. They created masterpieces that will last through out the ages while Justin Beiber's music gets him bitches on his Facebook pages. (For those he get that last sentence deserve a high five).

I love classical. Assuming we are talking about classical with a little c and not a big one. Probably my favorite composers are Gustav Holst, Karl King, P.I. Tchaikovsky, and Johan de Meij. First Suite in E-Flat gets better every time I listen to it. I'm a Euphonium player, so liking King's marches is almost obligatory. Tchaikovsky has touched the divine with his famous Andante Cantabile (and then there's always the 1812 Overture). And de Meij, of course, managed to make the Andante Cantabile even better with Extreme Make-Over, plus he's written things like The Lord of the Rings.

Nothing to say they can't coincide.

Not gonna pretend I'm big into it - listening to the stuff Meryuma posted though, it's pretty awesome.
we, unlike the bourgeoisie, have nothing to lose and therefore our expression will be the only honest one, our words will be the only challenging ones and our art will be the one revolutionary expression. We need new noise and new voices and new canvases to become something more than the last poets of a useless generation.
