Should it be illegal to deny the Holocaust?

On holiday in Berlin I found out that it is illegal to deny the Holocaust, as well as the national socialists. Germany has done well in trying not to forget its troubled past, erecting many memorials and museums to all those killed by the Nazis. NSG, what do you think?

In Germany? Yes. It's probably good for everyone that it's illegal.

However, in other countries? No. It's too good a way to spot an asshole.

In Germany? Sure. They have to live with the history and if they feel that's the way they want to go sure.......

They will probably drop the laws when a couple generations past the participants are dead.

Absolutely.

I'm aware of two countries that will imprison you for denying this atrocity: Germany and the Czech Republic. Should be universal, though.

No, everyone has the right to think what they want, no matter how stupid they are. Anyway, the Holocaust is taught in every or near enough every school in Britain so kids are learning about it.

It must be illegal, it is a constant reminder to the horrible corruption brought on by power. Germany had a Reichstag, then Hitler took over and the atrocities were committed. The same can occur in any nation, the holocaust must always be remembered to warn the future that that absolute power leads to the corruption of a nation.

No, forcing somebody to believe in anything is a violation of free speech. ^.o; If somebody's too dense to realize it happened, then that's their own problem. Nobody, not even Germany, should have laws punishing for not believing it happened.

It should be legal to deny that the Holocaust ever happened. I mean, of course the Holocaust happened, but I see no need to start arresting people for talking out of their arses. Quite honestly, it's a pointless law anyway, even in Germany. People will just find work arounds for it, just like they found away to get around the ban on Swastikas.
