Wargaming.net Mega-thread (WoT, WoWP, WoWS)

Postby Saphirasia » Sun Jul 24, 2011 6:45 pm

Yeah, there used to be a fancy post here, but managing it became too much of a chore. Also, with the release of other Wargaming.net products, this shall become a WG mega-thread for World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and World of Warships.

Enjoy. ^_^

Actually, no. I've been playing for a while, it's just that I haven't run into anyone who plays both, so I thought I'd post a thread.

I used to play, but I need to re-download. I think my highest level was PzKpfw II or 38 (t)

:P Prepare yourself for a bit of a shock, then. They introduced US Tank Destroyers on the last patch, and they are scary strong. Big gun, thick angled armor, rotating turret, and even though they are the size of a skyscraper, can hide behind the smallest of bushes. Then there's the Tier 9 US TD, which has frontal armor that no cannon in the game can penetrate, but its rear armor is about as strong as cardboard. Oh, and it packs a cannon that can 4-shot a Maus by itself. Somewhat ironically, I was able to kill it with my T-28 where the Maus had failed.

Sometimes agility is better than armor. Get behind a Maus before they are able to rotate the gun and keep firing.

I play every now and then. If you see OckhamsRazor in a game, that's me.

My highest tier tank is tier 6, specifically, the Jagdpanzer IV. I also have a T-34 and and an american T1 heavy.

Well, that pretty much tells where you guys are trying to get to. I'm personally hoping to get the IS-4 before the tech tree changes, and the IS-7 is a little too squishy for my taste. After all, I was able to (barely) take one out by myself when I platooned and ended up in a Tier X battle. After I got the kill, I was promptly finished off by their arty...the IS-7 had tracked me, and I wasn't able to move.

Well, now. I just got a Reaper achievement. 4 one-shot kills in a row. Plus I got my T-34 back. Today has been a good day!

Covering the entire Soviet tech tree, huh? I was debating doing that at one time, but focused on the tank branches instead. I might end up going with the German artillery, though.

Actually, once you get to heavy tanks, the matchups get really fair. As in you end up at the top most of the time. It's fun running around in a low-tier match with my derp gun, one-shotting pretty much everything I come across. It's rather fun.

the grinding required to get the higher tier stuff is obscene.

it's just that having pure tanks vs tanks seems so strange, i mean basically the light and medium tanks can't compare they're supposed to charge on into enemy lines and disrupt rear formations what tool would use light tanks to fight off heavies.

Originally I considered going advancing "normally" on each tech tree because 1) I want to have reserve if I have streak of bad luck and 2) to see how different tech trees play.
Then I latter bought MS-1 Because I wanted to see how it performs with 100% crew and kitted with modules.

Agreed on the grinding part. The KV and IS series are infamous for that.

My "problem" (ie. its not really problem problem) in this game is that because even non-penetrating hits are shown by red flash, many an occasion I have freaked out and broken contact when taking hits, and only afterwards noticing zero HP losses. But maybe its only realistic. :p

Yeah, I've done that more than my share of times. I just use auto-aim, and keep an eye on my health. Makes it a bit easier.

Oh, gawd, the A-20. I feel for you. Although, WoT has an event going on where you can buy the T-34 for half-price until noon tomorrow. So if you have it unlocked and have the 126k creds, it can be yours.
