The Republic of Meliorica (Melioran : Respublika Melira) is a budding nation in a yet-unidentified region. As far as the Melioran people are concerned, the republic is not bordered by other countries. It is bordered by the Granocian Sea to the north, and has a coastline of 792 kilometres (492 mi).
Meliorica is a republic, consisting of seven administrative divisions (Melioran : Gerenë - singular Gerena), and a special administrative division for the visible minority of some vague Germanic origin, the Semi-Autonomous Tribal Area (SATA, Melioran : Fal'autonoma Triboterrena, FATT; German : Halbautonomen Stammesgebiet, HASG). It is an ethnically diverse country, with a similar variation in its fauna and flora. With a semi-industrialized economy that focuses mainly on agriculture, it has one of the fastest-growing economies of the previously-mentioned unidentified region. The country faces challenging problems including a growing rich-poor divide and corruption.
The main priorities of the Meliorican government are defense and social welfare. Meliorica has one of the largest army-civilian ratio in the again, previously-mentioned unidentified region, at 4.1%. It seeks to become a member of other international organizations, and to increase its international commitment.
