Cadets in your nation?

Postby Dungeyland » Tue Jun 14, 2011 1:44 pm

Does your nation's military offer a cadet or cadet-style scheme for young people wishing to join the Armed Forces (e.g., Air Cadets)?

In Dungeyland, each force has it's own cadet branch, like so:

Royal Army -> Royal Armed Cadets
Royal Navy -> Royal Naval Cadets
Royal Air Force -> Royal Flying Cadets
Royal Marines -> Royal Marine Cadets
Classical liberal.
  • My nation is called the Dangish Empire, officially
  • The population is circa 500 million
  • It is an imperial federation
  • The term Dungeyland while only technically referring to one colony can be used for the entire Empire (think Holland)
  • The Dangish Empire is a constitutional monarchy, our monarch is Queen Ellen I

They'll all end up in the military for 6 months or so and the reserves for some years anyway, so no, we don't.

The Pioneers function for youths between 14-17 to receive practical training, and to prepare males for their mandatory service. They conduct simplified training exercises with training weapons(typically old AKM, RPK and RPD as other ones are too large for them to manage, blanks are used.) among regular summer camp activities.

Security Defenses and Volunteer Forces or SDVF has a cadet program that can be chosen to replace public schooling.

Elementary School Students - Cadets of District SDVF

Middle School Students - Cadets of State SDVF

High School Students - Cadets of Federal SDVF

College/University Students - Cadets of Loyal SDVF

No service is mandatory after completion of Cadet Training.

All able-bodied males get 6 months basic militia training, and the various armed forces provide further training to conscripts and recruits, but there are some expensive and very pristigious military academies were someone can go strait to commanding a unit, like the Stone-Bellard Naval Academy.

Cadet programs are available to boys and girls aged 14-17. They wear similar uniforms to the actual branch and participate in training programs. Military service is not mandatory after joining the cadets, although promotion and pay increases are given to ex-cadets.

Udema Defense Forces do have cadets, but that is the rank for undergraduate students in the Royal Defense University. The cadets who graduate, are commissioned in Udema Defense Forces in the rank of lieutenant.

There are university-based ROTC programs within Amiers Medical Institute, Jarazi Engineering School of Excellence, and Riyuil National University, though the presence of Junior ROTC programs in Yvenian high schools is remarkably below the global average due to the inconsistent high school standards set by villages. Thus, high-school students in remote areas such as the Gzurad Borderlands often lack access to high-quality ROTC programs despite recent advances in infrastructure improvement within the southern Bhu'tar regions.

Cadets are cadets regardless of branch. In the ROTC, merit determines rank, with the top cadet of each university earning his colonel's birds.
