Qurona-3
Qurona-3 was a rich system of four rich planets. Though it contained only one truly habitable world the second solid world near the sun was rich in pure metals and minerals that were collected from the lava streams by scoops then solidified at an automated colony. The system also contained two gas giants that were mined for everything from pure hydrogen to diamonds from the core.

It's prime world, Qurona-3B was home to just over two hundred thousand people, all employees of one CU corporation or another. Many of them worked in the shipyards above the planet, building freighters for the Qurona trade route, some were workers from other facilities in the system on leave and others worked as miners on 3B itself.

Yes, Qurona-3 was a profitable system and today it had overthrown the system's Board representative, stormed the Security Operations armoury and begun to take full control of the system. Already the rebellion had secured the main colony structure and the small squadron of SECOPS gunships were being prepared to carry revolutionary troops to the gas giant facilities.

A group of family leaders had taken power as a temporary parliament and had already begun setting up a full system government. One far farer then the Corporate bureaucracy they had just shed and one that would prosper far more then they had under the last century of settlement.

With their victory almost assured but a response from home was almost certainly being prepared and so the parliaments first choice was to begin emitting a deep space transmission, if they could gather enough support from other cultures then perhaps the newly freed system could retain it's independence. A few had voiced concerns that a few less then benevolent powers might try to conquer but when put to a vote the plan was approved.

To all who can receive this, we are the former Corporate Unity colony of Qurona-3. We have revolted against our overlords and now wish to retain independence. As such we wish to open a dialogue with any people who would help defend us against them. In exchange we can offer many riches including metals, gasses and food. If you wish to help us please send a ship to the coordinates attached to this message.

We will accept all the help we can get.

RNS Solarium
The revolution had sent shockwaves through the leadership of the Rubble Belt. The CU board were in a panic, fearing that their other colonies would follow suit and the UNMF were considering the possibility that any classified data or navigation systems in the system might fall into the hands of those they didn't want it to.

The Navy was now in play against the colonists and already a task force of CU heavy gunships and a Navy cruiser was being assembled to retake the colony. Once more it was a case of the UNMF cleaning up the corporations mess, but when the secrecy of the Rubble was at stake, it was the Navy's job to clean it up.

The cruiser was already good to go but the gunships would need more time to prepare. The colonists would have, at best, a few days to prepare for the coming storm.

U.S.S Dauntless, Qurona System

The Dauntless hadn't meant to get involved, it really hadn't. The ship had been running on grey-mode and observing the system from afar when the event's planet side began to take place. The Prime Directive prevented them from interfering in the sovereign affairs of another nation of course, if the planet succeeded in maintaining it's independence then the Federation could get involved, but until then it was something of a bad fix for the Captain and crew of the Starship Dauntless. The closeness of the world to the Federation Colony of Novus Limes only made the situation worse, as if a war broke out here, then the Federation would have to intervene. So it was that the Dauntless sent a transmission back to Novus Limes Command, requesting instructions. The Colony had been in place for over three months, and since it had been cut off from the bulk of the Federation it had effectively become a new Federation, although if contact was ever restored with home, it would still consider itself a part of the larger United Federation of Planets. In the three months that had passed the Colony and Starfleet had reorganized themselves before beginning their exploratory mission.

Dauntless was a Galaxy Class Starship, the class had been leading Starfleet's exploration efforts for over two centuries and the refits to the class over the years had only made her only better. Dauntless was a powerful ship, both in terms of her tactical offensive and defensive systems, but also her other systems from sensors, to medical facilities. Perhaps even the presence of a third-party ship would cause concern by the planets former owners, then again if they came in weapons blazing then the Federation would have to retaliate, permitting them to defend the planet below. It was this, it seemed that Starfleet had decided. The Dauntless was ordered to enter the orbit of the planet and offer to mediate the conflict.

Captain Ian Lennox stepped out of his ready room and strode across the bridge, settling into the command chair with a sigh. He had just got off with Starfleet Command who had given him detailed instructions regarding their mission in the system. They were not, under any circumstances to fire first, nor were they to take any overly hostile actions although they were permitted to take whatever precautions necessary to defend themselves from potential attack. If they were attacked by the former-owners they were authorised to defend themselves and the planet below. It was a difficult situation, but Starfleet had been in situations a hellova lot worse.

"Set a course for the inhabited planet" Lennox ordered "Full impulse"

"Aye sir, full impulse power" Lieutenant Clarkson had helm reported after a few commands into his console "ETA is ten minutes"

"Will we be appearing on their scopes?" Lennox asked "Given what we learnt from our sensor sweeps"

"Probably" Lieutenant Commander Jessica Standford reported from the tactical station "We're not running silent anymore"

"Very well, send the following"

Attention Qurona-3, this is Captain Lennox of the Federation Starship Dauntless, we have been watching your plight and whilst at this time we cannot get directly involved we are willing to provide any supplies you may need and we are also willing to attempt to mediate a peaceful solution between yourselves and your former overlords

OOC-This is a puppet nation I've created for the purposes of this RP, TG me for all your Qurona related needs.

IC-Ecstatic at having received a reply so quickly the Parliament replied quickly. The three settlements were now under their control and in a matter of hours the skymining facilities would be as well. A vote had just been past to bring the colony defences online and to begin modifying a few of the almost completed freighters with weapons from the former SECOPS defence base in orbit above the planet. Just a few hours after the revolution and things were already moving apace. As far as the colonists were concerned the CU would never take Qurona-3 back unless they ignited the gas giants, shattered the planets and extinguished the sun.

U.S.S Dauntless, thank you for responding to our call. Currently we have very little need for aid but if you are willing we would like to trade for any weapons you might have available.

Also we doubt you will be able to mediate a truce, when a colony like ours rebels the response is always swift and grinding, for every ship the independents have destroyed in the past and six loyal to the Board have taken it's place. You are welcome to try though, you may help us in ways we cannot predict now.

U.S.S Dauntless, Qurona System

The response from the planet didn't bode particularly well for any facet of the Dauntless' assigned mission in the system. If the other side weren't willing to negotiate there really wasn't much that the Dauntless could do. At the same time the sale of weapons was completer out of the question, not only was it against Federation Law but it was also an unacceptable security risk to sell Starfleet weaponry to anyone who wasn't a close ally, the technology in even one phaser could do untold damage. This left painfully little that the Dauntless could actually do in this situation, short of the colony below becoming a Federation Protectorate, and even then it would require evidence that they believed that they would be in terrible danger without the Federation's protection, and would require a debate in the Federation Council to determine a decision. Lennox's heart went out to the people below, it sounded like the poor bastards below had been getting out of a bad situation that had the threat of someone coming to take it away from them after such a short time. He wanted to help, he really did, but he just didn't know how.

Perhaps the presence of the Dauntless would do some good.

"We're in a bad situation here, that's for sure" Commander Jason Durnham, the ships executive officer commented "We're damned if we do and we#re damned if we don't"

"Tell me about it" Lennox muttered "Return channel"

Whilst we cannot offer weapons at this time, we will remain to attempt to mediate this dispute. I will continue to confer with my government on the matter. Any information regarding the history of this colony, and your government would be appreciated as it would allow teh Council to better discuss the situation.

The Parliament had now been in session for twelve hours, and with a SECOPS task force possibly only days away the ministers probably wouldn't be getting any rest soon. Their latest problem was routing out any CU sympathisers among the former colony's population. Their was of course the fear of them accidental executing a UNMF intelligence agent. The Navy normally left suppressing revolutions like this to the Corporates but they were very protective of their own men and accidents always happened in volatile situations like this.

Thankyou, U.S.S Dauntless. Your attempts to help us are admirable and your mere presence may be enough to stall our enemy long enough for us to negotiate some kind of temporary ceasefire with them before we are vaporised.

"We have work to do, Kinzo."
"Hmmmm? It's still early..."
"Some real peacekeeping is required. I believe this will be your first experience?"
"Indeed! My dear ship, when can we check out the conflict?
"Easy there, Kinzo. In due season... In due season."

OOC-GL, how are you contacting the Solarium, the location of that (literally) Capital Ship is somewhere on the other side of the galaxy.

UNS Gunnerkrigg
As his recently relaunched ship thrummed under the effects of it's improved turbojet engines, the Gunnerkigg's captain muttered "Bloody Corporates, why we have to wait for them I have no idea"

"Because Captain, if we were to just storm in by ourselves, the CU Chairman would undoubtedly protest what he would claim as our unprovoked aggression against his employees." the reply had come from Kat, the Gunnerkrigg's new AI. There previous AI, Harvey had had to be replaced as he was running too slow attempting to run all the new technology packed into the cruiser.

"Furthermore" she continued "Although we have always sent in forces to destroy navigation data in situations such as this, it has always been done by an agent on the ground. Our man was killed during the uprising by decompression in one of the shipyards, he was one of several dozen fatalities. And with this being such a vital system to the CU and the colonists having access to multiple ships that would be easy to equip with weapons, the CU have made a rather clever manoeuvre in bringing in our support in the form of this cruiser"

"The CU requesting our support is not my problem Kat," Gardener replied "I'm always glad to have a few friendlies along but they're just so slow. In my first week of boot I could assemble a railgun faster then they're getting ready to launch and I was five years old."

"True Captain but you and I were modified and bred specifically for the task of fighting wars, these men are more police then anything else"

"That's another thing that's pissing me off, this ship is the equivalent of an entire enemy fleet. We should be out on the frontier hunting the Things instead of cleaning up Perth Mining's mess"

"Well until the Lehane is upgraded to the Gunnerkrigg-2 standard sir we are the only ship of our class, and like you said we are the equivalent of an enemy fleet, we are the best choice for a strategic reserve ship"

"I hate it when people defeat me with logic" the Captain grumbled

"That's why we all do it sir" the AI chimed

"All right take us into position Kat, we have an hour till departure time I want to be on schedule whether those twelve gunships are with us or not. If we need to we can do this ourselves"

"Very well sir, I'll start charging the void drive and bring stealth systems online"

I'll just be the nice ship who wants peace.

OOC-No, my ships cannot travel that far in a few days. The way my nation works is that our home system is isolated, secretive and surrounded by obscene numbers of FTL inhibitors. As such most interstellar ships are placed at forward ports all over the galaxy, connected to home by a network of stargate style wormholes. So while orders can be transported to ships in port nearly instantaneously, it takes several days for them to travel from the port to the combat zone using standard FTL travel.

Your communication though would probably take a few years to reach the nearest Rubble outpost, wherein it can be taken to a higher authority.

The revolution had sent shockwaves through the leadership of the Rubble Belt.

If the ship was halfway across the galaxy, they should not have any idea about the revolution, right?

OOC-Look at it this way.
1-Revolution begins
2-Message is broadcast to closest CU outpost
3-Message is carried instantaneously from the outpost to Sol by a wormhole.
4-The CU chairman calls a meeting of the Rubble Council, all members are in the Sol system so it's just a quick shuttle flight.
5-After a quick meeting a message is sent, again via-wormhole, to a navy base the force is assembled and they make a three day FTL jump to the Qurona system.

OOC-Okay then, on with the RP.

IC-
UNS Gunnerkrigg
"Captain Gardener we're intercepting a transmission, universal band, all frequency's" the ELINT officer announced

"What's the content" the Captain asked

"It appears that a ship known as the Golden Locus has decided to assist the rebels"

"Then we have to get moving, any nav data get's into foreign hands and we'll have to shift a third of the civilian offload bases. Kat, inform the gunships that they are to leave as soon as they can, we're leaving now but we'll stealth around the outside of the system until they arrive"

"Transmitting your orders now Captain and spinning up the void drive" the AI replied

There was a rumble as the Gunnerkrigg accelerated to jump speed, then a jolt ran through the ship as she launched into the void between universes. The Gunnerkrigg was on it's way.
