[World of Avatar (Ancient)]

Quick OOC Note: World of Avatar is my attemt at creating a nation based on Avatar: The Last Airbender. It simultaneously represents the four entities in Avatar, Air, Water, Earth, and Fire.

[World of Avatar (Ancient)]

History

The historical record of the World of Avatar stretches back centuries, when the first permanent settlers arrived in the eastern coast of the Eastern continent. It is unknown where these early humans hailed from, and several theories have been proposed, but it is presently impossible to prove any of them. During their first few centuries, they remained hunter-gatherers, not straying too far away from their coastal villages.

Eventually, they spread further into the continent, their newly discovered farming techniques allowing them to settle anywhere with fertile soil. At around 800 B.C., their first oceanic voyages took places, discovering the present-day Fire Nation, Air Nomads' temples, and eventually settling as further North and South as the poles.

Distance and lack of communication between each other would set the stage for the cultural division and strife between the people's, establishing the four political entities which currently inhabit Avatar.

In the westernmost islands, at around 500 B.C., a people known as the Sun Warriors begin to establish the first State and begin to culuturally separate from the rest of the humans. They were a theocractic warrior race, ruled by the Sun King, who rigorously imposed the religion upon the citizens. Their religion centered around the Sun and other sources of heat, most importantly, Fire, which they revered for its life-giving heat .

Similarly, around the same time, the other nations began to take place. In the Eastern lands, several city-states arise, however, despite their fracturous nature, they lived in harmony, trading with each other and aiding themselves in times of need. Because of the harmony between each other, the eastern kingdoms were one of the most economically and tachnologically advanced nations of the time.

Meanwhile, a peaceful group of wanderers began to join together, their whole civilization centered around four sacred temples, positioned in the four corners of the region. The Airean people, a peaceful groups of nomads, began to settle down, creating a a ruling body of monks to govern themselves. The High Council consisted of four monks and nuns, two monks from the Northern and Southern Air Temples, and two nuns from the Eastern and Western Air Temples.
