I don't really have an all time favourite; it really depends on what my current obsessions are. At the moment, those would include Hetalia and Kuroshitsuji.
Past obsessions I had (and still do watch, occasionally) were Gensoumaden Saiyuki, Last Exile (vanships~ <333 > w < ), Jigoku Shoujo, Fate Stay Night, Ouran Ouran High School Host Club, Fruits Basket, and .hack (Sign, Roots, and Legend of the Twilight), among many others. I tend to like a lot of anime, though, especially the ones that have a great story-line and/or are animated beautifully.
... though Hetalia appeals to my history-geek side, rather than the story-loving side... xD;;
I've been meaning to watch Footprints in the Sand, though - if you recommend it that highly, I'll have to move it up on the list!

i don't really have one but I used to love the various Gundam shows an I'm currently obsessed with various series that I'd rather not talk about.
