The Regional Sportsman Division is the base level of stock car racing in Whittoria, though it's no less exciting than its national touring counterparts. The series is split into four regions: Southeast, North, Midwest, and West. Each region runs a ten race schedule, running at tracks in their region, with the top five from each division advancing at the end of their schedule to the championship series. The Regional Champion is decided in this ten race shootout across the nation's toughest tracks. The majority of drivers in this series are amateurs, although many have aspirations of working their way up to the sportsman division and eventually the GNS.

Here is a list of drivers in the Regional Series, by division:

OPEN WHEEL

Image

The Gold Crown Series is the top division of open wheel/single seater racing in Whittoria. Created by the merger of the National Championship Series and the Formula Championship Series, the Gold Crown cars will more closely resemble the Indianapolis cars than their Formula Championship counterparts. They race on a mix of ovals and road courses in a schedule that fluctuates from year to year; usually between 19 and 26 races. The series' crown jewel is the Pat Ogburn Memorial 500 (a.k.a. The Oggie 500) held at Indianapolis Motor Speedway each year. The series has a strict limit on the number of entries per race. A maximum of 26 cars will run on ovals of 2 miles or less in length, while a maximum of 33 will compete on ovals greater than 2 miles in length. Road courses will be a case-to-case basis, although the 26 maximum will surely apply to street courses and shorter road courses.

Let me make this clear: THIS IS A DOMESTIC RACING LEAGUE. I scorinate all races on my own time. However, if you feel as though a team in your nation would like to field a car, send me a telegram. Keep in mind there's not a lot of room for new teams, but arrangements can be made. I don't expect an overflow of that kind though, so it probably won't be a problem. A Whittorian company would also be willing to back your team in exchange for pasting its logo on your car if you didn't have any other financial backing.

Sucrati's Patriot Racing is an example of an independent team that competes in the Grand National Series.

There will be a three car limit per series on foreign teams. First time participants will be limited to one driver per series.

APPLICATION FOR DRIVERS

If you are interested in sending a driver, please fill out this form. Upon completion your driver will receive his or her WAC license and may participate in the series in which he or she applied. A team will then contact you with contract information.

IF YOU FIELD AN INDEPENDENT TEAM (such as Patriot Racing or Jeffgordonville International Motorsports) please fill out these next two sections, as you'll be providing your own car and pit crew as well.

Please keep in mind that while you may request a certain number for your driver, be prepared to be assigned something different by the race team you sign with. Car number rights are purchased by the race team, just like in NASCAR, and your driver will just have to live with the car number of the team he signs with. Trades can be arranged.

Also note that when your driver signs a contract with a team he or she must honor it until it expires. (Remember though, all contracts are negotiable)

RP BONUS

All new foreign drivers will have have minimum ratings that are lower than the Whittorian drivers. However, those who produce quality RPs will have their minimums raised to equal those of domestic drivers. Veteran foreign drivers will have minimums equal to Whittorian drivers. RPing may be done in the results thread, after permission is given to you via telegram.

Each season all Whittorian drivers and teams have their ratings randomized (this will not affect foreign drivers, but it may affect their vehicle if the drive for a Whittorian team).

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

Many teams in the WAC seek financial backing. While most are sponsored by domestic companies, there will be opportunities for foreign investors to sponsor one of our domestic teams. There are a few rules to who the WAC allows to sponsor cars:

1.) NO MILITARY GROUPS/FOREIGN MILITARIES
-Should be self explanatory. The only armed forces the Whittoria Auto Club allows to advertise in any of its series is Whittoria's Armed forces. Don't like it? Too bad, suck it up.

2.) NO ARMS MANUFACTURERS
-The only exception to this rule is if your company produces civilian goods as well, much like Boeing and Remington. But in order for that to happen, your company's primary focus has to on civilian goods, or you must be able to prove to me that you're more than just a pimp-my-gun fanboy via a storefront in the GE&T forum.

3.) NO SLAVE TRADE/ADULT ORIENTED SERVICES/ETC.
-Self explanatory. I expect you all to know better.

Ultimately, the decision will be up to the team owners, so keep what they're looking for in mind when you apply. If you are interested in sponsoring a team, please fill out this form:

HOSTING A RACE

If you are interested in hosting a race in one our our series, please contact me via telegram. So far the only WAC race held overseas (that I know of so far) is the Andossa Se Mitrin Vega Grand Prix, held from 1967 to 1976 on the ASMV mainland.

If there is a motorsport competition you have missed out on due to late signup or any other reason, feel free to apply to compete in the WAC. That being said:

THE WHITTORIA AUTO CLUB IS A DOMESTIC LEAGUE AND MAKES NO ATTEMPT TO COMPETE WITH ANY INTERNATIONAL MOTORSPORT COMPETITION IN ANY WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM WHATSOEVER.

All series will be scorinated using NASCAR Racing 2003 by Papyrus.

If you have any other questions feel free to TG me.

The In Character Results Thread can be found here.
Comprehensive results will be posted here. However, there is no forum.
This is where I'll be taking signups. Results will still be posted here and at the webs site above.

Lake Speed Motorsports is greatly interested in Empire Motors as a sponsor and is willing to agree to the terms of a sky blue car and no other sponsors; Mr. Speed sees this as an opportunity to field much higher quality equipment than what the team has previously been able to afford. Whitlock's Furniture and Adluh Flour both have expressed no interest in renewing sponsorship.

They will now be able to field the greatest equipment money can buy. It's a done deal.

PS: Papyrus NASCAR 2003= Greatest NASCAR game, still.

WAC ROUNDUP

Current events in the Whittorian Auto Club

-Lake Speed and Empire Motors managed to come together and strike deal this week. The company based in Newmanistan secured all sponsorhip rights to the number seven car, and while the details of the contract have not been made public yet, both parties appear to be very pleased.

"We're very excited to have Empire Motors as our sponsor," Mr. Speed said in an interview this week. "It's difficult to be competitive when you don't have as good equipment has the rest of the teams. But we should be very competitive this year and I expect good things to happen."

Speed has every right to feel such confidence, especially after recording the fastest times in a group test with Alex Whitt, Parker Langford, Zach Whitt, and Greg Schafer this week. More WAC Grand National coverage to come! Qualifying for the season opening Whittoria 500 is just around the corner.

WAC ROUNDUP

Alex Whitt Racing close to striking a deal with Kogvuron Commando

Car owner and driver Alex "The Mayor" Whitt reported earlier today that AWR was close to filling the third seat on their team. Sergeant Simo Hayha of the Kogvuron Commandos has expressed interest in driving for the team. Sgt. Hayha is considered one of Kogvuron's elite soldiers, an expert marksman and biathlon natonal champion.

"We spoke earlier today," said Whitt, "and I have to say I was very impressed with Sgt. Hayha. He's a biathlon champion, and from what I hear in Kogvuron they drive instead of ski in that event, so he's definitely got what it takes. And on top of that he's a class act. All that's left to discuss are contract numbers and we'll have a deal."

The Kogvuron Commando have also expressed interest in sponsoring the Sgt. Hayha, in addition to the deal with ASICS AWR has managed to attract. These contract talks come just months after Whitt left Shinbaum racing to form his own team, citing a contract dispute with car owner Scott Shinbaum as his reason for leaving. Look for Sgt. Simo Hayha to drive the #41 car this season for AWR.

TESTING CONTINUES

Multi-car testing continues at various tracks around Whittoria, the most recent session taking place at the 311 Speedway. Lake Speed Greg Schafer, Parker Langford, Daniel Pederson, and all three drivers from Scuderia Ezio took part in the test.

Empire Motors now also wishes to purchase naming rights for the Highlands 500. Calling it the Highlands 500 Presented by Empire Motors is sufficient. They are also wondering if there is room for Lake Speed Motorsports to become a 2-car operation.

All team sponsers accepted

Kogvuron wrote:Simo wishes to change his number to 13, is that possible?

Yes, currently James Davis Racing owns the rights for that number but they'd have no problem trading it for 41, so consider it done.

Newmanistan wrote:They are also wondering if there is room for Lake Speed Motorsports to become a 2-car operation.

It's possible, although it would be a few races before that would happen. He could have something ready by the Peach State 500.

IN REGARDS TO ALL NAMING RIGHTS FOR THE RACES

Unlike its real life counterpart (uses the same acronym as the National Association of Speed Crazy Advertising Representatives), the WAC Grand National Division tries very hard to stay true to its traditions, all the while hoping to begin new ones. We like the names of our races to be representive of their locations (Peach Blossom 400, Congaree 500, etc.) and/or of people significant to Whittoria racing history (Tuttle 500, E. Merle Whitt 500, etc.), but we have no problem with these races being presented by sponsers.

That being said:
Newmanistan: that works fine, it will be called the Highlands 500 presented by Empire Motors
ASMV: "The Yumbo Jumbo Blowout at the Western 500" works for now, but I'm going to think about it, so don't be surprised if I ask to change it to "The Western 500k presented by Yumbo Jumbo" (Also, I was hoping you would sponsor something after you advertised YJ with every RP cutoff at the World Bowl a few years back)
Kovuron: How does "The World 500 presented by the Kogvuron Commando" sound? And for press references/so I won't get it wrong, is "Kogvuron Commando" the correct plural phrase?

The All-Star race will be named "50 WACky Miles", and will consist of one 50 lap segment featuring 12 drivers who must have won a race or finished the highest in points after race winners.

Aight, just checking. And Kogvuron Military Airlines is accepted as a third sponsor for Simo Hayha. Also, since ASICS was originally the primary sponsor for the 41/now 13 car, is it okay the Kogvuron Commando split sponsorship duties for the first 3 races? that'll give me time to paint the cars ASICS time to switch to another team/become a secondary sponsor.

....and all the drivers at AWR get free race shoes.
