Republic Badlands Base 024, Outside of Republic Space
1 ACW

Republic Trooper Captain Dex looked out at the training courtyard of the small republic base, a few dozern lightyears away from Republic space proper, precisely why the Republic had put a base so far out was beyond him, most likely as a listening post, and as a training facility, but a good trooper never questioned what he didn't need to.. He looked down at the newest bunch of Troopers he had been assigned to train out here in the Back of Beyond.

The newest bunch of nuggets weren't as bad as the last, this lot at least had some common sense. They were currently running through a CQB drill, from above he could see the different corridors of the make-shift walls, as well as the droid enemies that would only be disabled by the weapons that were set on the lowest power-setting. The Exercise was soon completed and the troopers were promptly sat against the wall, their helmats removed each laughing and talking to their comrades as they took well earned drinks. Dex nodded satisfied and looked up as a small fighter zipped past heading toward the small landing pad on the otherside of this force-forsaken planetoid that barely supported any life at all, and was only due to some tech that the Republic had put down that it worked at all.

Again, Dex didn't understand what a 18 Year old Jedi Padawan was doing out here, without her master for starters, but as well as going on missions for the love of god. He shook it off as he placed his helmat back on his head and headed to meet the Jedi. Upon arriving, he watched as the young Jedi jumped from her fighter and walked towards him. He smartly stood to attention and saluted the Jedi. The Jedi nodded slightly in return and gestured to her head, he nodded and removed his helmat.

"Fun mission Akoa?" He asked evenly.

The Twi-Lek jedi padawan scowled.

"I ended up being chased out-system by a pair of patrol ships" She muttered "They didn't like me looking around and the comm system on my fighter broke.

"So these patrol ships, were they big and scary?" Dex teased slightly, normally he wouldn't tease a Jedi, but Akoa had been with them on the facillity for over a month now, and she had made it clear that she didn't want to be treated like a Jedi, not unless the situation warrented it.

"Very funny" She replied with a slight smile as they headed back inside the main complex.

Dex grinned

"It's good to have you back young one, the troopers are about to have our evening meal if you'd like to join us"

Akoa smiled at the nickname she had quickly been given but nodded and headed for mess hall. Dex couldn't help but feel concerned, if the Jedi had been chased out by the locals it was always possible that they could come knocking to demand what was going on, and of course there was always pirates and the other undesirables, although a relativly large garrison for it's size, and a short distance from Republic space it was still a potential target.

VSS Manticore
Zegan Class Cruiser
024.234.0900

The Manticore had been tasked with exploring a series of outlying systems beyond the border of the Voryn Dominion. This served several purposes; one of which was to provide advanced warning of any hazards or threats to the Dominion, but also to identify future possibilities of expansion. Of course the Voryn High Command also recognized the possibility of establishing first contact with foreign stellar powers.

While most of the crew were well trained they were also rather fresh, most of them being too young to have taken part in the Lecktar War. Captain Vreen was an exception to this and he had the battle scars to prove it. Vreen had been a commander aboard the VSS Dominance, a Render class battle cruiser, during the Lecktar War. The Dominance had been destroyed during the Battle of Kelthar III and Vreen had barely escaped with his life; something that continued to haunt him as his captain and many others among the bridge crew had opted to go down with the ship. The captain had insisted that Vreen man one of the escape pods and take command of the remaining crew. Still, Vreen felt cheated. He’d been forced to live in dishonor rather than die in combat.

Vreen absentmindedly rubbed the scar that played across his forehead; something he often did when remembering the past. He realized that some of the bridge crew had turned to him in curiosity as he had been dictating a log to the computer and had suddenly fell silent as the images of the past flooded through his mind.

“We’ve detected possible signs of life in one of the nearby systems, designated Delta-324, sensors have also indicated the possibility of a star faring culture. I have ordered the Manticore to change course to further investigate the system more thoroughly.” With that Vreen pressed a button on the consol attached to the command chair and ended the recording.

“What is our ETA?” asked the captain

“A little over three hours my lord” the helmsman replied.

“As soon as we drop out of warp raise shield and go to yellow alert.” Vreen stood and made his way toward the main doors of the bridge “XO you have the bridge. I will be in my quarters.”

“Yes lord” the XO replied. Tyrma Relthion was a middle aged Yuan-Ti significantly younger than her superior but she had risen through the ranks of the Voryn military quickly on account of her ambition and intense drive and intelligence. She was unique among the Yuan-Ti as she had blonde hair rather than the typical black. Many saw this as a sign of good fortune, as being touched by the gods, something that further hastened her rise.

Commander Relthion took her place in the command chair and gazed out at the passing stars. “Place our marine contingent on alert once we are within an hour of our destination” she commanded.

Evening Meal had been an lively affair with the clones, most of them not used to dining with a Jedi Commander, but once that had worn off Akoa had enjoyed the humour and various other actions of the troopers as they enjoyed their meal. She and Dex had then engaged in sparing with long metal poles for the benefit of the other clones, between her Jedi training and Dex’s skills as a soldier they had a pretty good sparring session before Akoa eventually gained the upper hand as she slipped under one of Dex’s powerful swipes and landed a strike to the tough white armour on the back of his legs sending the clone trooper to the deck. Dex shouted in surprise whilst at the same time grabbed Akoa’s outstretched arms and pulled her down after him. Akoa landed hard on the Dex’s white chest plate, by the thud it sounded like it probably hurt. Needless to say Akoa responded and playfully hit her captain around his unprotected head as the clones laughed in the background. As the Clone and Commander rolled around trying to get the upper hand, Dex eventually climbed this feet and offered a hand to his commander. Akoa grinned and pulled him back down and tipped him over her head before jumping to her feet.

“That was a little un-Jedi-like wasn’t it?” Dex muttered as he accepted a helping hand.

“I won” Akoa grinned.

“Won my ass” Dex muttered as he removed a section of his armour to massage the bruise left by the young Jedi’s over powerful swipe before turning to his clones “Okay, anyone not on watch go and get some sleep; it’s a busy day tomorrow”

The Captain and Jedi left their clones to get on with their wind-down duties. The white-walled corridors were of the same styles as those on starships of the Republic Navy; simple and plain. They had soon walked from the rear of the complex to the front entrance hall and the two wings on either side of the entrance. They moved up onto the roof, from which the garrison would defend from if the base was ever attacked. Looking out across teh front courtyard-parade square towards the large gate that was the only way to get past the durasteel outer wall. The two looked at the stars.

“They truly are beautiful aren’t they” Akoa commented.

“indeed” Dex replied “I wonder how many we’re gonna be going to”

“Most of them I suspect” Akoa grinned “One way or another”

VSS Manticore
Captains Quarters
024.234.1200

Voryn living quarters were Spartan by most standards, simply furnished with few luxuries, even in an officer’s quarters. The primary difference in living quarters between the enlisted and the commissioned officers was the level of privacy. While enlisted lived in a bay with twenty other people, officers enjoyed the privacy of their own quarters, but beyond that the officers didn’t have much more. There were few decorations outside of a couple of pictures or small hologram images.

Captain Vreen sat on the edge of his bunk, data pad in hand, but he was paying little attention to the data that moved across the screen. His mind continued to wander back to the bridge of the Dominance and its last moments. Pulling himself off of the deck after the ship had taken a direct hit from a torpedo, alarm klaxons screeching in the background as crewmen scattered in an attempt to get back to whatever station they had just been tossed from. The captain lay mortally wounded just a few feet away, having been hit with a piece of shrapnel from one of the consoles that had exploded shortly after the torpedo had hit.

Vreen had half stumbled, half crawled to his commander as the deck beneath his feet began to tilt as the vessel began to fall toward the planet below. “Order all hands to abandon ship” the captain had muttered between labored breaths.

“My lord we will all die honorably by your side!” Vreen had growled but the captain grabbed Vreens uniform and with his last reserve of strength pulled him close.

“Do as I command!” he shouted “we will lose this war commander”

“No my lord…”

“Silence!” the captain shook Vreen “the High Command has projected our loss. We will lose this war commander! But the Voryn must survive, we must return to enact our vengeance upon the Lecktar!”

“Yes lord.” Vreen bowed his head in defeat “what shall I do captain?”

The captain choked and wheezed as his life began to slip away “There is a plan…an exodus…we will one day return…the Dominion will need experienced commanders. There is no dishonor in living to fight again.”

The captain slipped away. Vreen wiped away the blood that seemed to be pouring forth from his forehead where he sported an ugly gash, and then ordered the crew to abandon ship. The moment played over and over in his head. Would he live to see the day that the Voryn returned to fight the Lecktar? It was unlikely; it would probably be generations before the Voryn were able to recover their former glory.

An alarm sounded indicating the ship had gone to yellow alert and shortly after a tone sounded over the comm. System “Captain we have fallen out of warp at the edge of the system. We are beginning scans” Commander Relthion announced.

“I’m on my way to commander.” Vreen replied then placed the data pad on the desk positioned near the bed.

VSS Manticore
Bridge
024.234.1205

The cruiser drifted slowly through space as its sensors began to survey the system which appeared largely uninhabited save for a potential outpost on one of the outlying planets. The doors to the bridge slid open and Captain Vreen emerged.

“Captain on deck!” an ensign announced

“Carry on” Vreen stated simply before anyone could stand to attention.

Commander Relthion stood up from the command chair and moved to the XO’s position as the captain made his way to the center of the bridge “My lord we’re picking up reading from one of the planets. Probably an outpost of some kind; shields are up.”

“Very good commander” replied Vreen as he took his seat in the commanders chair send a standard greeting requesting contact.

“Yes lord” the communications officer responded as his fingers flew across the console before him programming the universal translator with the most common languages and forms of communication. A simple message would be broadcast requesting the outpost respond and initiate contact.

In the time that had passed since Evening meal and the arrival of the alien craft, Akoa had finally returned to her quarters to get some sleep. She had quickly stripped out of her Jedi tunic, her robes were by the main entrance ready to be collected on her way out to the hanger on the far side of the compound, and slipped beneath the comfortable sheets. There were some benifits to being a Jedi Commander, and that was that you got individual quarters, unlike the bunks that the clones had to use, but then they were soldiers trained for that kind of thing, and although a Jedi could sleep pretty much anywhere, considering the responsibility on their shoulders it was probably a good idea that they got a decent amount of sleep. It was just as she was slipping off to sleep that the door chirped and slid open. Glaring through the darkness to the bright corridor she could make out the shape of a clone, reaching into the force she identified the clone, at the same time as suddenly realising she wasn't wearing anything and pulling her covers around her, hiding a blush.

"By the Force Dex, you heard of knocking?" Akoa scowled.

"I'm sorry Commander, it's important" Dex said apolgetically, and tactfully making a point of looking as far away from his naked Jedi Commander as was possible.

"Turn around" Akoa muttered as she climbed out of bed and pulled on her Jedi Tunic "What's going on?"

"We've detected a vessel coming out of Hyperspace on the edge of the system" Dex replied "Unidentified"

"Damnit" Akoa muttered "Put the base on alert, and let Coruscant know we've got guests"

Dex nodded and quickly slammed his hand into a large button on the wall outside the Jedi's quarters. Almost immediatly a loud, distincitve siren began to sound; the same type used on Republic Warships, at the same time he began to sprint along the corridor to the living quarters, he would have to get his armour on as he had been about to go to bed when he had been called to the War Room. By the time had had pulled on his white armour, with the distincitve green marking, grabbed his DC-15 and ran to the War Room, Akoa was already there and looking over the sensor reports at the craft that was now sharing the system with them. The base was bustling with activity as clones ran back and forth to set up in case of a potential attack.

"They are attempting to make contact" Dex reported as he took up his position, Akoa nodded "Return channel for you Commander"

"Attention Unidentified Vessel, this is Commander Akoa Tolar, please state your identify and your reasons for being in this system"

Captain Vreen ordered an open hailing frequency. “This is Captain Vreen of the Voryn Star Ship Manticore. We are on an exploratory mission tasked with surveying uncharted systems and establishing contact with any stellar nations we come across. To whom do you owe allegiance Commander Tolar?”

Vreen cut the channel briefly to give orders to the crew “Cut engines and hold position for now” he commanded “but continue scans. I want to know if this commander has any warships in the area and what kind of defenses the outpost has.”

Republic Badlands Base 024, Outside of Republic Space

The Base was something of an oddity. It had enough shielding to protect itself from a squadron of Star Destroyers, but it's actual ground-to-orbit weapons were relativly light in comparison, the base was designed to protect its crew long enough for reinforcements in the form of the Fleet could assemble and arrive to support them. What weapons the outpost had were armed and preparing to receive targeting assignments from the war room, they wouldn't track or fire without direct permission from the command staff, it wouldn't do to have a stray shot cause an avoidable diplomatic incident. That said if they choose to attack they would be fired upon and when reinforcements arrived they would come in weapons hot and shooting at anything labled hot by the war room. The Clones got about their duties professionally. They would kill whoever they were ordered to and otherwise would carry out their other assigned duties to the best of their abilities, which was naturally of the highest standards.

It had been a little over a year since the 501st had marched into the Jedi Temple. Although they had been defeated it wasn't without a fair few Jedi casualties and it was common knowledge that there were still a fair few Jedi who didn't trust the Clones anymore. Akoa wasn't one of them, not anymore after she had spent recent days with these clones ahd she had come to realise that their training had been taken advantage of by a Sith Lord, who knew maybe they wouldn't follow such an order in the future. Only time would tell.

The sensors operator announced that there didn’t appear to be any warships in the area but that the base was heavily shielded though lightly armed. Vreen ordered the image of the planet put on the view screen and magnified as much as possible to show the outpost, and then reopened the hailing frequency.

“The Republic of United Planets” Vreen repeated the name with a tone of curiosity “yes our sensors have shown that there are other inhabited systems nearby. Is this an observation post of some kind commander?”

"More of a forward support base" Akoa replied with a slight smile.

In all truth there were few who knew exactly what the purpose of a badlands base was, other than that it was beyond Republic borders in uninhabited star systems. It meant that anything that they could be asked to do could be done with very little difficulty. Akoa glanced up at Captain Dex and pulled her down so she could whisper in his ears. Dex listened carefully and nodded his agreement to the suggestion that his commander had just suggested. He put on his helmat and began to issue orders to make arrangements.

Captain Vreen nodded to Commander Relthion and she quickly turned and left the bridge to prepare an away team. “I will beam down with a team just outside of your base perimeter.” Vreen knew it was unlikely that the outpost would lower its shields in order to allow him to beam directly into the base. “My communications officer will transmit the coordinates to you shortly. But in order to beam down I will have to place my vessel in orbit around the planet. I hope you will not take this as a hostile action.”

With the aliens authorised to enter orbit, the Outpost prepared to have guests. The majority of the clones stood down to return to stand-by positions for the duration of the visit, although some took up positions around vital areas. It was up to Commander Akoa and Captain Dex to walk out to the front gates to welcome the visitors. Akoa grabbed her cloak as they walked past the threshold and pulled it on over her shoulders, grateful for the warmth, after all the star was many miles away and the atmospheric shield did little to warm up the rock upon which the base was located. Dex meanwhile was wearing his armour, with his helmet firmly on and attached to the rest of his armour, just in case. Like many Clone Officers he had decorated his armour beyond the Legion markings that some legions added to their armour, specifically he had painted wolf eyes above his helmets eyepieces. He also wore a pauldron that provided additional protection against flying shrapnel, but wasn’t standard issue.

By the time they had walked the short distance to the gate Akoa was visibly shivering, despite her usually warm Jedi cloak, after all she didn’t have a warm, environmentally sealed armour to keep her warm. Dex couldn’t help but feel sorry for her. The temperature on the outside of the rock was regularly below freezing and it’s average temperature was only bested by Ice worlds and arctic circles in terms of cold. Akoa tried to shove of her shivering as she spoke to the guests.

“Welcome to the Badlands” She smiled slightly “As you may have noticed it’s very cold; so I suggest we get back inside and we can formally introduce ourselves then”

The Korrak barely cruised along on the path that was preset on its navigation computer. The ship was barely holding together, but was still just capable of reaching expansion candidate 33325687245-UZ52. The crew, originally made up of three pilot drones, one maintenance drone, two generates, three carriers and a dozen unaminated spawns.
All the drones had been destroyed a carrier had been killed, both the generates, and a half dozen of the unaminated spawns were all killed whenever an accidental colision with a smal asteroid had destroyed some of the life support systems.
However, since each carrier held a dozen spawn eggs, and six of the spawns were left, then that left thirty spawns to find a host and expand the Dominion.
Soon, the semi-organic vessel reached the planet, with its stealth systems camoflauging it as a minor asteroid. After all it was no bigger than a whale, which the Sorelika had found on a tiny human zoological colony.
Once they got within two hours distance from the planet called UZ52 for convenience, the two remaining carriers were awoken by the ship's AI. These two creatures called simply Kor mother and Fay mother, after their mate's name, quickly did as they were trained and re-animated the spawns, feeding them a gram of calcium each. They then fed themesleves nurturing the eggs and spawn's to be inside them.

Hours later, the ship finally entered the atmosphere. It deployed Zicharray seeds which crystalized into a super hard rock like armor, that would be mistaken for an asteroid by both visual and technological scans. The seeds were spread over the hull of the ship and it was quickly encased in the super hard armor. The only piece left uncovered was a small two foot wide squarenear the rear of the craft.

A few minutes later, the carriers were only hours away from birth, so they quickly ordered the six spawns to find hosts.
Once the spawns were gone, the Carriers prepared for the coming hatchings with calcium that was made ready and getting used to the climate , so that future generations would adapt more easily to this wonderful planet.

I am prepared for the hatching sister, are you? Fay said through the telepathic language of the Sorelika.

As am I sister. I do hope the hosts of this world are powerful and strong, so that future generations will be conquerors.
Kor said as entergetically as possible for a parasite. Most sentients that "Spoke" with the Sorelika thought that they were devoid of emotion, but quite the opposite was true. Their voices sounded very monotone and boring to most humanoid sentients, but to others it was filled with emotion.

Meanwhile, The six insectoid Spawns scurried on the freezing cold terrain, very slowly dreezing to death. However, soon they sensed a small pack of four non sentients coming their direction. They stayed very still not even intaking minerals from the air, until the creatures came closer. Once the apparant herbivores got closer, the Spaws sprung their trap. They leaped of of the ground and on to the heads of the unsuspecting creatures. In all the chaos, two of the spawns were trampled by the beasts, so there were just enough hosts. Once connecting to the brains of the creatures, the Spawns became Generates and gained sentience, as well as the ability to speak to other nearby Sorelika in their language.

After geting used to their new bodies, the Generates began receiving orders and instructions from their mothers. Their first objective was to find a sentient species on the planet. A female Generate Korali was made pack leader, since her host was the most intelligent and strong. They also knew the terrain well, because they had harvested the information and instinct from the brain of their hosts.

The readings of the planet indicated arctic temperatures and so the away team dressed appropriately, in this case in Unisoldier Heavy Combat Armor as it provided protection against both small arms and hostile weather. Captain Vreen and his team, which consisted simply of two Orcshal marines, materialized just outside of the gates to the outpost. The marines were armed with pulse rifles which they currently had shouldered as their presence was deemed largely ceremonial. After all if the aliens truly wanted to do harm to the Captain the presence of two armed marines would do little to stop it other than maybe taking as many of the enemy down with them as possible.

While the two marines were nearly indistinguishable from each other Captain Vreen was adorned with a long white ceremonial cloak adorned with the symbol of House Haurez, a golden cobra poised to strike. All had the Voryn flag on emblazed on their left shoulder pads and the Haurez symbol on their right shoulders.

Vreen look of amazement and confusion was covered by the helmet that enclosed his entire head. The commander that stood before him appeared to be nothing more than a young girl! Of course she was of a species that Vreen had never laid eyes on and it was possible that she was older than she looked, but by Yuan-Ti standard she couldn’t be outside of her late teens.

Still Vreen bowed respectfully, “It is cold indeed” he said and proceeded to follow her inside.

The 'front door' swept open in front of them as they approached and the interior was warm and inviting especially when compared to the environment outside. Akoa retained her jedi robes as they continued deeper into the complex, whilst Dex on the other hand had reached up and removed his helmet, it was after all designed to be intimidating, particually in combat, and there were enough helmeted clone troopers walking around to give that impression that they didn't need another. Dex held his helmet under his arm, and unlike the other clones he wasn't carrying a DC-15 of either variant, instead he had two sidearms in holsters just in case they were needed. They moved quickly through the complex and into one of the two wings where they arrived at a meeting room.

"Captain Vreen" Akoa smiled bowing slightly, but also offering a hand as was human custom "Commander Tolar, and this is Clone Captain Dex"

Once in the meeting room Vreen removed his helmet and bowed again then took Tolar’s hand; as far as he could tell it was what she was expecting him to do, but it was custom he was unfamiliar with. The captain couldn’t help but look curiously over at Dex when he was introduced but then returned his attention to Tolar.

The idea of clones was somewhat distasteful in Voryn culture. While the Voryn did have the capability of cloning, it was purposefully limited to organ creation and genetic manipulation. The Orcshal were often genetically enhanced with greater strength, hand-eye coordination and such while the Yuan-Ti were often geared toward greater intelligence and agility, but direct cloning was outlawed centuries ago by the prophets as clones were seen as soulless constructs, almost to the point of being abominations.

But Vreen quickly pushed this concept to the back of his mind; he didn’t want to start this meeting on a sour note. “I am honored” Vreen said then nodded to the marines who then removed their helmets as well. “These are my escorts. Sergeant Hreth and Staff Sergeant Ulrith.”

Korali and her Generate brethren bolted through the freezing climate of UZ52, in search of sentient life. They did this for hours, but to no avail. However, just when they were about to return to there mothers, they spotted a flash of light to the far left.

"Sister, I smell the unmistakable scent of... Human! But this human, it smells more... synthetic as if there were manufactured organics." one of the Generates said in the grumbly snow beast's language.

"Brother, there are many things in the galaxy, and i do not doubt your judgement, but we can not act on impulse." Korali grunted.

"Yes, i believe we require a supperior host, but our true forms would certainly die out in this weather."

"Enough speculation siblings, form up on me. We need to inspect that flash of light." Korali said as she bolted off into the direction of the light.

A while later they arrived in fornt of a very large metallic structure with circular markings. These markings seemed to be that of a civilization seen before on some planets that the Sorelika had conquered or made host planets.
It was funny actually most sentients thought that the Sorelika were just parasitic insectoids, but actually most of the hosts aquired from species around the galaxy were given voluntarily.

Korali nodded her head, and almost immeadietely the Sorelika left their hosts, now with the form of an even smaller than before insectoid like creatures. The small pack crawled into a tiny crak in between the door and the wall. Once inside, they quickly found a nice and warm air vent to wait in. Sooon, very soon a soldier or a worker perhaps would pass bt the vents and one by one, the Sorelika would find more powerful hosts.

Meanwhile, Fay and Kor were seconds away from releasing their eggs. As soon as they were released, the eggs would tear open to reveal hungry little spawns. And very soon, that is exactly what happened. There were now two dozen little creatures eager to find a host.
After the birthing was complete, the Mothers released a special hormone that attracted all organics within a hundred mile radius. The feeling was so strong that the organics would come to their camp and be ade hosts by their children.

"Well, in that case, what can the Republic do for you?"

In the meantime the Hormone would have a lot of difficulty in getting any victims. For starters it wouldn't be able to get into the base itself, first due to the shielding and the life support system that was specifically designed to remove contaminants from the air, the same was true of the Clone Troopers helmets, it was unlikely that it would be able to get through their respiration systems to affect them. The only two people at risk were, in theory, Captain Dex and Akoa and the visitors if it got through the system, and all things considered, Akoa and her Jedi Training would probably be able to resist it.

This didn't stop it being detected on the sensors. Given that Republic installations in recent years had been heavily focused towards anti-droid operations, they not only picked up the lifesigns of the alien creatures, but also on movement sensors. One could have been an error, both was a problem. A squad of nine clones, under the command of a sergeant, were detailed to investigate by Captain Dex, who had put his helmet back on to issue the orders, before taking it off again. The Clones emerged from the front of the base with their DC-15a's at the ready as they advanced in the direction of the alien lifesigns.

Korali smelled the nine clones as they walked outside of the building right outside of their little vent ambush. She new they stood no chance against those weapons. She would have to find her brothers hosts one by one. They only had another 22 hours before their calcium reserves were depleted and they would die. Luckily she smelled a lone figure walking down the corridor a few dozen yards away. Whenever it passed, she would make her move, and drop down. After that, she would order her brothers to scatter in the vents and find victims that were alone.

* * *

Fay felt her eggsac bust and her young spawns pour out only seconds later, Kor followed a minute later. They then fed the two dozen offspring blocks of Calcium. It was just then whenever the hormones of the mothers attracted wild beasts of all sorts.(I'm picturing arctic like animals) The mothers exploited this and ordered their now well fed young to quickly find a host for them.

Minutes later, the mothers proudly gazed upon their new generate children who were now 18 in number. The other four had sadly died in combat, but their mothers were still proud. The two that didn't take on hosts became the next generation of carriers and were now preparing for the two day preganancy of a dozen new borns. The Generates dispersed and began hunting to provide foods for their host bodies.

OOC: can you RP a lone engineer or something walking down the hall so that Korali may find a host?

Finding nothing of interest the clones returned to the base, talking and chatting leisurily as they walked back through the base, returning their DC-15s to their places in the armoury. They passed another clone walking the other way and greeted him warmly before he carried on alone down the corridor to carry out whatever duties he had to do. The Squad returned to the mess hall to get some snacks to wind down after the potential for combat.

Korali leaped at the oppurtunity of finding a host. THe specimen that was walking down the hall was definitely a humanoid and in nearly paramount physical condition. She prepared her liquidy spit inside her mouth, and launched it through the vent at the visor of the specimen.
It wasn't corrosive or harmful at all, just very hard to see through, and a little sticky. As the clone bent over and frantically tried to rid himself of the material on his visor, Korali jumped a few times on the vent and the heavy metal screen fell on the poor fellows head. She was sure his armor on his cranium would protect from a concussion, but the impact was still painful.

Seconds later, Korali had swooped down and ripped off the helmet of the poor trooper. She then crawled through his ear where she grabbed hold of major nerve connectors and implanted herself within his mind. Suddenly, a flood of knowledge was upon her names, memories, and images streamed into her brain from her host.
Her host's name was U2-658918 or better known by his comrades as Slicer. Thats what he was apparently. A computer slicer as well as designated marksman for his squad. Korali looked up to her brethren in the vent and she quickly replaced the vent, telling her brothers to scatter in the vents and find hosts the same way she had done. She then re-equipped her helmet after wiping it off. She also coudn't help but notice the blaster pistol on her waist holster.

“I admit I am not much of a diplomat commander” replied Vreen “my primary interest in this system is exploratory in nature, but I am also directed to initiate first contact with any alien beings I come across. I am curious about your people though. I understand you cannot reveal anything classified, nor would I expect you to do so. Perhaps we can exchange cultural information and maybe our respective diplomats can take it from there.”

Meanwhile on board the Manticore commander Relthion sat in the commanders chair keeping an eye on the view screen which indicated the away teams life signs. The system would alert the crew to any significant changes in the away steams status.

“Commander sensors have detected a possible vessel of some kind entering the atmosphere of the planet below.” Announced the sensors operator

Relthion stood and moved to stand near the sensor console “What kind of vessel?” she asked as she leaned in to look over the operators shoulder at the display.

“Nothing that shows in our databanks my lady; the mass detectors were the first to pick it up and I followed it up with spectroanalysis. Whatever it is definitely has life signs aboard but again nothing that matches anything in the Star Fleet databanks.” The operator brought up an image of the vessel which spun around to give the commander a 360 degree view of the craft.

“Looks like an asteroid to me.”

“It does now but it didn’t when we first began tracking the vessel. As it neared the planet it deployed this outer shell giving it the appearance of an asteroid. Of course this wouldn’t be the first species to use asteroids as ships or even attempt to mask the signatures of their vessels to appear like an asteroid. I’m sure you recall the Orwyn’s use of what was left of an entire moon to create a vessel.”

Relthion nodded “The fact that it’s trying to be so covert is cause for concern. Were you able to track its trajectory in order to determine where it landed?”

“Yes commander” the operators hands flew over the console and an image of the trajectory appeared marking the anticipated landing area with a red circle.

“That’s awfully close to the outpost. I better warn the captain.” Relthion returned to the command chair and ordered a channel to be opened to Captain Vreen. “Captain this is commander Relthion. We’ve detected a vessel that entered the atmosphere of the planet. It doesn’t appear to match the technology of the outpost and it seems as though it has tried to take steps to mask its presence. We believe it is planet side now and may be near the outpost. I recommend you return to the Manticore sir.”

Vreen listened to the commander intently then keyed his communicator “Understood commander. Standby.” Looking to the Commander Tolar he continued “Has your outpost picked up these reading commander?”
