What's paranormal about there being life on other planets?

Believe in UFOs as vehicles for intelligent life from other planets is common in the Grand Duchy, and as a religious nation many here believe in spirits, angels, jinn, or other "paranormal" or "supernatural" beings.

Nothing. The government roots out any superstitions in society, wether they be God, Ghosts or Greys. Anthromorphic genetic research is also banned.

Well, there's some superstition that if a willie wagtail lands on your head it brings you luck, of course most people know that it's bogus but it's fun nonetheless to say that it brings luck.

I think it's fun to say "Willie Wagtail" itself.

Well, I don't particularly consider aliens to be "paranormal".

That said, I tend to feel that it's quite probable that there is extra-terrestrial life, but the same factors that make such highly probable also make it highly improbable that we'd ever encounter it. At least with our present levels of technology.

That said, I'm a Positivist. So I don't really "believe" in anything. But I like to entertain the thoughts of a reincarnation system. No belief or lack thereof there though.

It is necessary to expose the false propaganda of the imperialists and thoroughly dispel the illusion that the imperialists will give up their positions in the colonies and dependent countries with good will. It is wrong to try to avoid the struggle against imperialism under the pretext that independence and revolution are important, but that peace is still more precious. The oppressed peoples can liberate themselves only through struggle. This is a simple and clear truth confirmed by history.

Capitalism is always the answer. Whenever there's a problem in capitalism, you just need some more capitalism. If the solution isn't capitalism, then it's not really a problem. If your capitalism gets damaged, you just need to throw some capitalism on it and get on with your life.

Magic is, of course, commonplace in our nation. It's a natural talent of our Unicorn ponies--they've made a science of it over the centuries, learning how to control their innate power to warp reality to more useful purposes.

Pegasus ponies have their own form of innate magic, mostly dealing with control over weather and (to a limited extent) gravity.

Where it delves into the "paranormal" realm is with Earth ponies. So far as our Unicorn mage-scientists have determined, Earth ponies possess no innate magical power. That said, more than one Earth pony has surprised the scientists with abilities that can't really be explained by their scientific theories of magic. The general consensus is that the Unicorns' magical theories are incomplete, and there exist more wonders than they can explain.

This nation is an extension of Estainia based on an alternate-outcome of the Estainian Civil War much like Russo-Spain. It uses the population of Estainia if you do not like this, do not request a roleplay with this nation; and instead refer to Estainia or Russo-Spain.

Aliens are seen as fitting in with Hindu cosmology as being gods, demigods, angels, demons, or devils. There is a strong belief in ghosts and of course vampires in our Gypsy nation. Various measures are used to keep vampires such as nailing garlic and/or mirrors to the front and back doors of one's home, keeping religious symbols around the house (pictures of Hindu gods, crucifixes, or crescent and stars depending on one's religious belief). The vast majority of homes in Banjarastan have at least some of these features. People are also very superstitious, and these superstitions influence daily life from the biggest decisions (a male of taller than average height and a girl named after a star should not be married) to the most down to earth things imaginable (nails and/or should not be cut on Thursdays or Saturdays, you should always step into the house with your right foot first, books and money should not sit on the floor).

At this very moment, there are people complaining about Gaddaffi through the use of their signature. If you wish to criticize Gaddaffis' government even though it won't make a difference to anyone and say that you support the Libyan civilians even though all you do is put a signature on a random forum, then copy paste this into your signature!

This discussion is better suited to the 'General' forum. If you wish to re-post it there, you may do so, but only if you develop your OP further, so there is something to discuss - make sure you include your own opinion, as well as reasons for holding it.
