Why Lenin?

Also, if we're going by body-count Mao wins hands-down, though Stalin is a close second.

Edit: "Gorbachev for ending it"...I should have thought of that!

I'm General Patton.
Even those who are gone are with us as we go on.

I'll go with Alexander Dubeck just because I'm curious as to how well his reforms would have turned out.

"Never be deceived that the rich will permit you to vote away their wealth." - Lucy Parsons
Socialism is an economic system characterised by social ownership of the means of production and co-operative management of the economy. "Social ownership" may refer to cooperative enterprises, common ownership, state ownership, citizen ownership of equity, or any combination of these. There are many varieties of socialism and there is no single definition encapsulating all of them. They differ in the type of social ownership they advocate, the degree to which they rely on markets or planning, how management is to be organised within productive institutions, and the role of the state in constructing socialism.

Communism is impossible to achieve. It can never be done. It has noted to exist in cases of complete isolationism, but that is really it. And the punishment for crimes, even as minor as stealing, was usually death.

Anyway, if I had to say one, probably Tito.

Yes.

Unless of course it's not OK for a woman to ask for a female to ask for a female officer to carry out body checks. In which case, the answer would be no.

V.I. Lenin

Leninism was considerably more practical than Marxism, and much more user-friendly than Stalinism.

...and to those that would counter with his Red Terror, think of the state Russia was in at the time. It makes Iraq look like a picnic.

Karl Marx. Followed by Lenin.
Khruschev one of the worst. His "liberalisation" led to the end of the USSR along with a decrease from the massive growth experienced during the Stalinist period. Although I do think his heart was in the right place, that is worthless compared to consequences. I would have called Gorby the worst, but he wasn't a communist. He even founded a social-democratic party in Russia after the dismantlement.

And Pol Pot was about as communist as Bush. He was even funded by the CIA as a last "f*** you" to Vietnam.

I would blame that more on his utterly failtastic Virgin and Idle Lands project rather than any supposed liberalisation.

Stalin did the most for communism. He defeated fascism and made Russia what it is now - a corpulent, bloated paradise.

He didn't defeat Fascism, his generals did. Unlike Addy, Joe was willing to listen to the men that actually knew what they were doing.

Tito or Honecker.

Honecker's contributions have already been mentioned, Tito may have been an authoritarian wanker but worked tirelessly to insure Yugoslavia was free of soviet influence, and his foreign policy was great.
