What is your nation's total military?

Postby Kubrath » Tue Mar 08, 2011 12:02 pm

Every country has a certain amount of active personnel and reserve personnel (unless stated otherwise by the particular government). Those two types of personnel combined give the total personnel in your military. You can also post a short description of your military in general. Here is a form you can fill, for your facilitation (Be realistic, you can't have 40-50% or even 60-70% of your total population in your army, as there won't be enough people to manage your country - your infrastructure and your economy. You need at least 80-90% of your people managing your country, in order for it to be remotely stable, and even that is not enough sometimes).*

Total military personnel:
(the combined number of people in your army - active and reserved)
Active personnel:
(the people who are currently active and ready for war)
Reserve personnel:
(the people who are to be called during war)
Total Infantry personnel:
(the part of your total army, which is mostly trained for ground assaults)
Total Navy:
(the part of your total army, which is mostly trained for aquatic assaults)
Total Air Force:
(the part of your total army, which is mostly trained for aerial assaults)
Total special military personnel:
(this is a diverse military force, which may or may not be a part of your total military. This is the military force, which is called upon by the government to execute special, and most often, crucial missions, which are otherwise not up for the regular military force)
Description:
(You can describe here the clothing, equipment, training, visual outlook, weaponry, military vehicles, aircraft, etc.)

*Note: People, please, I do understand this game is about imagination, but it is about logic, as well. Here you should present your imagination with some form of logic, because politics and running countries are not a pretty picture or a funny book, they're serious s**t. So, please, be realistic when writing out your info.

We accept all volunteers (unless they are physically incapacitated or not finished school) and we give them basic training. Those who excel are given any available positions in the regular army, which currently numbers about three million.

The rest are sent home and are considered to be reserves. Those who volunteer for additional part-time training on a weekly, monthly, etc. basis are the "ready reserves", who are next in line for any regular army positions and who are the first to be called up in case of emergency. We hope to have around twelve to fifteen million who are ready for an immediate combat role.

The remainder, those with little training beyond basic and those who are aging, are the "auxilliary reserves". There are several hundred million of those, though many of them are not fit for service.

Because of our rough terrain, about 80% of our combat strength is infantry.

The Navy and Air Corps have another million or two. They have some auxilliary units too but are not expected to expand dramitically in case of hostilities.

Incidentally, the Navy is not a branch of the Army and it does not engage in "aquatic assaults". It does have some marines who are trained in amphibious warfare.

Any operations which require special training outside the scope of the regular forces are undertaken by commandos. Both the Army and the Navy have their own commando units.

The Royal Army has a total of 44 Army Groups, each with approx. 1.36 million soldiers and all their equipment and support.

Each Army Group has a distinctive insignia which is worn on the left sleeve, 2 inches below the shoulder seam.
Each Division will have their Division number in gold thread on the AG insignia, Corps level units with have their number in Blue Thread, Army level units will be in red thread, and Army Group level units will be in green thread.

Image

This Division, the 49th Division, 13th Corps, 4th Army of the 11th Army Group would be written as 49D11. Corps would be written as 12C11, Armys would be written as 2A11.

Units which do not belong to a specific Army Group will have a diamond shaped insignia in branch colours with their unit number on it.
Branch colours:
Administration (Staff) - Khaki
Administration (Finance) - Olive Green
Air Defense - Dark Blue
Armour - Dark Grey
Artillery - Cobalt Blue
Aviation - Sky Blue
Chaplains - White

Infantry - Forest Green
Medical - Red

Military Police - Purple
Musicians - Light Purple
Ordnance - Brick Red
Sappers and Pioneers - Black
Troop Support - Medium Blue
Signals - Bright Blue
Transportation - Maroon

And just for the record, the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force are not part of the Army.
"Aquatic assaults"? Really? Do you possibly mean "Marines"?
"Aerial assaults"? Huh? That would be the Para's, which are not part of the RAF.

The Anago-Yohannesian Empire is a secondary advisory council of the League of Imperial Nations, and a recognised nuclear nation-state, spending one of the largest amount of monetary fund in the field of military acquisition and maintenance, research, and technology, with a total spending of ¥133.122 trillion in 2010, an equal amount in common exchange currency of approximately $253.663 trillion 1 2 or an estimated 24.6% of its total GDP by PPP.

The empire's military, the Kaiserlichen und Königlichen Streitkräfte or K.u.K.Streitkräfte, is a military force comprising of the Kaiserliche und Königliche Armee or K.u.K.Armee (Army), the Kaiserliche und Königliche Luftfahrtruppen or K.u.K.Luftfahrtruppen (Air Force), the Kaiserliche und Königliche Kriegsmarine or K.u.K.Kriegsmarine (Navy), and the Kaiserliche und Königliche Streitkräftebasis or K.u.K.Streitkräftebasis (Joint-Support Service). Military service is compulsory for men at the age of 19, and conscripts serve an eight-month tours of duty. In a period of peacetime and internal stability, the K.u.K.Streitkräfte is commanded by the Imperial and Royal Ministry of Defence and War, of which the current ministerial position occupied by Field Marshal Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono. In the possibility of an official state of war, which according to the constitution is allowed only to be declared by the reigning Monarch, the Monarch of the Dual Imperial Monarchy would become the de-jure Commander-in-Chief of the K.u.K.Streitkräfte.

Ever since the imperial unification in 1987, the joint K.u.K.Kriegsmarine has acquired the status of one of the many blue water navies in the world. In October 2010 the K.u.K.Armee had a reported strength of 26,253,382 active and 29,886,513 reserve personnel. The K.u.K.Luftfahrtruppen had a reported strength of 15,762,978 active, 3,293,560 reserve, and 4,574,389 air guard personnel. The equipment of the K.u.K.Luftfahrtruppen consists of approximately 216,537 aircraft, of which 82,964 are fighters, 17,491 Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles, and 1,244 satellites. The K.u.K.Kriegsmarine had a reported strength of approximately 20,868,447 personnel, 13,928 ships, and 177,870 aircraft. The K.u.K.Streitkräftebasis had a reported strength of approximately 16,796,477 active and reserve personnel. This puts total active and reserve duty standing military personnel at approximately 117,435,746.

The Kaiserlichen und Königlichen Streitkräfte are charged with protecting cosmopolitan Anago-Yohannesian Empire and its overseas administrative regions, commonwealth and dependency territories, and supporting international peacekeeping efforts. Overseas garrisons and military facilities are maintained in all of the seven overseas administrative regions located in Tyrrhenia, the commonwealth dependencies of Mindemoya and Jonre, Haloden, Al-Egypt, Darc Deimos, Carriacou, Baluchistani, and Daarnar.

Honestly, we have no idea. We practice universal induction, but we long ago privatized the military, so each of the Clans, Tribes, and Orders maintain their own forces, as do a few private individuals. Generally speaking, there are four warrior Orders: the Order of Zorak Zoran, god of Hate and Vengeance preeminent among them, with the Order of Vaneekara the Hurler close after. The Order of Boztakang, Killer of Chaos, is a specialized, elite warrior Order, and Karrg's Sons, who act as bailiffs and police, are the last of our warrior Orders. However, while our forces are largely of these Orders, warriors come in all types, and these round out our private armies and mercenary companies. The largest of our mercenary companies is the renowned Vulture Legion, who guard our trade lanes and a few very affluent individuals and corporations, but a full accounting of every muri warrior wouldn't be cost-efficient.
