BARTEWICK FINANCIAL HOCKEY PREMIERSHIP

It was another thrilling season of BarFin Premiership Hockey. The Montreek Camians were able to come on top of Northern Division, tied with Port Kostas, but ahead on the head-to-head tiebreaker. Not far behind were the Petmonton Oil Rigs and trailing the Rigs were the Metropolitan, where Andrew Davis continues to try to make a name for himself.

Onto the South, the Warriors somehow managed to come on top of division for the umpteenth time. Leif Proulx, who was supposed to be known as a jerk, was on fire as he lead the league in assists and points and showed all of Camwood that he really isn't that big of a jerk. Brandon Norris, the New Athens head coach said, "I can not find where the jerk is inside him, [Proulx], his [Proulx's] worth ethic was amazing and he [Proulx] was a great team player."

The rest of the South was virtually none existent. The Yellow Beach Beachmen and Nattas Heat were tied for second. Each only won .500. The fourth place Kanston Hurricanes had a losing record. The BFHP board said they would realign the season so that more games will be played intradivision, so that the team that stand out don't have losing records.

Compolis showed some serious muscle as they defeated the top seed Montreek Camians in the first round. It took seven games for Jason McDonald and his Oil Rigs to pull through and beat the Port Kostas Mates who, after going to the Champions' Hockey League Finals last time around, won't even qualify. Now to the down under provinces. New Athens slowly but surely defeated the Kanston Hurricanes in five games. The Nattas Heat, however, swept the Beachmen to get into the SemiFinals.

After many season's of heartache and distress, the Petmonton Oil Rigs have found their way to a Daniel Cup Final. The Rigs were able to sweep Compolis despite three out of the four games had to be decideed after regulation. The polar opposite happened in the Southern Division Finals. New Athens lost three straight games, but Leif Proulx rallied the team, and the Warriors battle back to win the series in seven games. Proulx's spectacular leadership performance will possibly earn the Cotdelpomais a big fat "C'' on his sweater next season.

Daniel Cup Finals

(3) Petmonton Oil Rigs 3-1 (1) New Athens Warriors [(3) Petmonton Oil Rigs leads series 1-0]
(1) New Athens Warriors 1-0 (3) Petmonton Oil Rigs [series tied 1-1]

(1) New Athens Warriors 1-0 (3) Petmonton Oil Rigs [series tied 3-3]
(3) Petmonton Oil Rigs 1-0 (1) New Athens Warriors [(3) Petmonton Oil Rigs leads series 4-3]

A David and Goliath it sure was - a battle of beyond epic proportions. Jason McDonald sure found a way to battle beyond belief, he scored four goals plus a shoot-out goal to lead his team to a four games to three victory over the warriors. Many hockey fans and critics thought this day would never come - the Warriors would not win a Daniel Cup.

Compolis RFC took home this year's prize after being a good two games ahead of the North Shore squad from Northmont, Camwood. The Kanston Sonic got the bronze spot, only a game ahead of the New Athens Spartans, who where in a four way tie which was settled through goal difference and head-to-head.

This season's controversy ended with a firing. The Port Kostas Bruisers were truly bruising more and more players. Eventually, manager Thomas Reed was sacked by the league for Malpractice.

CHAMPIONSHIP RACE

Image
PORT KOSTAS STRIKERS
  • Location: Port Kostas, Camwood ~ Ander Arena Cap. 40,000
  • Manager: Kirby Hurst (CVC)
  • Nickname: 'The Strikers'
  • Formation: 4-4-2
  • Key Player(s): ST Leonard Rossi;
  • Foreigners: DF Noël Thériault (CDP); MF Jérémy Berthiaume (CDP);
  • Predicted Finish: First
  • Comments: Kirby Hurst had a long hard haul last season before he was able to turn his side around and boost the team into fourth. Hurst with his newly reformed 4-4-2 formation, is hoping to pick up the strikers exactly where they left off and charge into a championship. The Strikers made some bold offseason moves and cashed in on some washed up Cotdelapomais players including Jérémy Berthiaume who is on the descending side of his peak. Port Kostas also has a shiny new stadium to play in, the Ander Arena.

Image
INTER COMPOLIS
  • Location: Urbalyn (Compolis), Camwood ~ Compolis Coliseum Cap. 41,500
  • Manager: Jake Graton
  • Nickname: 'The Blues'
  • Formation: 3-5-2
  • Key Player(s): MF Jeff Cecil; ST Kevin Torress; GK Gaxan Echabeguren (ITB);
  • Foreigners: GK Gaxan Echabeguren (ITB); DF Winoc Quéré (PBI);
  • Predicted Finish: Second
  • Comments: The Blues had a great run last season during the Globe Cup. Compolis got through the group stage, and into two rounds of the elimination stage before being knocked out. This spectacular finish has earned Compolis a spot in the Aeropag Football Inviational. Gaxan Echabeguren is a member of the Astograthian Olympic Squad and will be tied for the first couple matchdays of the season. Kevin Torress is now thirty four and is facing one of the last seasons in his storied career.

Image
VANLER DYNAMO
  • Location: Vanler, Camwood ~ Dynamo Dome Cap. 55,000
  • Manager: Henry Telison
  • Nickname: 'les rouges' (French for 'The Reds')
  • Formation: 3-4-2-1
  • Key Player(s): MF Alec Taber; ST Caleb Benson
  • Foriegners: MF Éric Horton (CDP); ST Oxel Nuin
  • Predicted Finish: Third
  • Comments: Henry Telison is the man keeping this club a float right now. Oxel Nuin was tossed out the door by Royal Rumiatzi and is hoping to become somewhat of a star at the Dynamo. With the edition of Nuin, Vanler should be able to elevate themselves into third.

Image
SPORTING WHITE ROCK
  • Location: White Rock, Camwood ~ The Ice Bowl (Cap. 18,000)
  • Manager: Justin Kiplin
  • Formation: 4-3-3
  • Key Player(s): ST Imre Ulsson (MYT);
  • Foreigners: ST Imre Ulsson (MYT); DF Ludovic Doucet (CDP);
  • Predicted Finish: Fourth
  • Comments: Justin Kiplin and the rest of White Rock has been very outgoing in bringing in foreign talent. Imre Ulsson was brought in unattached from Mytannion where he plays as a national team player, and Ludovic Doucet was recruited from Cotdelapoms to help out on the defensive end.

LEAGUE COVERAGE

NEW ATHENS UNITED
New Athens is a good time, with out a lot of variety. For New Athens to be able to qualify for international events. They need to pick up a decent striker and a good keeper. If New Athens can't finish in the top five, there is a good chance manager Nicholas Bentaly will be sacked. On another point, Jack Gibson went to the Olympics and did very well, having the most goals for the entire squad.

YELLOW BEACH UNIVERSE
Yellow Beach did very well last season, but they will most likely end up as just one hit wonders. Michael Cook is a player reaching his prime, but will most likely end up free agent after the season is out.

HENRYSBURG FC
Henrysburg is doing well, and are settling in to the Premier Division stage. Andrew Sandy has company in Henrysburg as Tómas Sala from Cotdelapoms joins in on the fun. Henrysburg might get a taste of the top five, but they definitely won't stay there.

THE REST
    8. F.C. Nattas
    9. Janta Bay Sharks FC
    10. San Marius United
    11. Kanston Dynamo

Full of surprises, the fifth C-League season has come and gone with some very exciting happenings. Inter Compolis won their second title, and Kevin Torress had a great season, leading the league in goals with twenty two of them. The Port Kostas Strikers were expected to win, but finished tenth, narrowly avoiding relegation. Their manager, Kirby Hurst from Civil Citizenry, can definately be expected to be sacked once transfers commence.

New Athens was greatly empowered by midfielder Jack Gibson. They finished second, tied with Sporting White Rock who were greatly lead by Jason Deveraux, who won the top international player award. Yellow Beach didn't trail by much though, they beat out Vanler Dynamo by a difference of two goals.

((OOC: This is a test of whether or not I wanted to host an international cycling event.))

NEW ATHENS OPEN

Camwood's and The Scandinavian Island's best racers came to New Athens for the New Athens Open. A three stage event with 20 riders. Four squads of five each came from both TSI and Camwood. The three stages consisted of a time trial stage, a climb stage, and a mixed terrain final stage for all the marbles.

Athensbank also did alright for once; Athensbank had three riders in the top ten. It was a special ending to a special event for Nick Baird.

You can say everything went as expected, until you got to Yellow Beach-Clemson. The entire series was nearly dead locked, and YB's Nicholas Ferin's shoot-out goal, to put the series away, was heroism at its best.

The Mates were able to sweep the Camians (Surprise! (just kidding)), but look who took down the Warriors. When Moncrief returned to New Athens to retire, everyone thought that he and Leif Proulx would be the superstar duo; the titan two. Well, not when you have a young team like Yellow Beach.

Port Kostas Mates 1-1 Yellow Beach Beachmen (1-1 OT, 0-1 SO) [Yellow Beach Beachmen leads series 4-3]

Ryan Wesbrook's controversial venture to Port Kostas could've only lasted to long. Seven games, it took, but only one shoot out goal, made the difference. The Beachmen will definately sleep happy tonight, and forever, because they have took on the big dogs, and won.

Season 6 Preview

As Camian Football falls through the floor, and everything regarding the Camian Association Football Adminstration (CAFA), is shuting down to start anew, the C-League secretariat has declared that the show must go on, and it must get bigger too. The secretariat has elected to promoted three teams into the premier division, and only send two down, to start a thirteen club top flight, and hence, and twenty four game season, about on par with everyone else in the realm of professional football. Without further adieu, here is how things are shaking for the start of the sixth edition of the C-League.

TRANSFERS
  • Juan Torress (Starblaydi - ST) sold to Port Kostas City, by Hallad Reavers.
  • Caleb Benson (Camian - ST) sold to New Athens United, by Vanler Dynamo.

Image
INTER COMPOLIS
  • Location: Urbalyn (Compolis), Camwood ~ Compolis Coliseum Cap. 43,000
  • Manager: Jake Graton
  • Nickname: 'The Blues'
  • Formation: 3-5-2
  • Key Player(s): MF Jeff Cecil; ST Kevin Torress; GK Gaxan Echabeguren (ITB);
  • Foreigners: GK Gaxan Echabeguren (ITB); DF Winoc Quéré (PBI);
  • Predicted Finish: First
  • Comments: Inter Compolis didn't do as well in UICA competition, as they did the time before last, but they are by far the bread and butter of Camian Football. It is highly unlikely for Kevin Torress not to call a quits on football, he is thirty five this season, and will be battling is aging body to produce more and more records. However, Torress isn't Compolis' only prize, you have Jeff Cecil, who is getting up there in the age column, but his goals column is rising right their with it. The young, Iturributan sensation, Gaxan Echabeguren, is pretty much fulfilling what he is being asked of, which is simply snagging as many clean sheets as possibile. Expect Inter to be a threat this season, as they are set to take home their third consecutive C-League title.

Image
NEW ATHENS UNITED
  • Location: New Athens, Camwood ~ Athensbank Stadium (formerly the Olympian Centre) Cap. 53,000
  • Manager: Nicholas Bentaly
  • Nickname: 'The Scholars'
  • Formation: 4-4-2
  • Key Player(s): MF Jack Gibson; ST Edgar Houston (CVC); GK Bernard Green
  • Foreigner(s): ST Edgar Houston (CVC);
  • Predicted Finish: Second
  • Comments: New Athens a stellar club and should be that way for awhile. Rookie sensation keeper Bernard Green, is fresh out of Earl University, and looks to be an underdog legend having never made an under-21 squad. Edgar Houston is doing better, after suffering a season ending ankle injury after sustaining a booking-worthy slide tackle midway through the season. Transferred to aid Mr. Houston in the attacl, is Caleb Benson, who is yet to find a place to truly call home. Speaking of home, since CAFA's collapse, the United club has bpught out the stadium and sold it to their shirt sponsors, Athensbank, a newer, sprawling consumer bank.

Image
VANLER DYNAMO
  • Location: Vanler, Camwood ~ Dynamo Dome Cap. 55,000
  • Manager: Henry Telison
  • Nickname: 'les rouges' (French for 'The Reds')
  • Formation: 3-4-2-1
  • Key Player(s): MF Alec Taber; ST Oxel Nuin
  • Foriegners: MF Éric Horton (CDP); ST Oxel Nuin (ASG)
  • Predicted Finish: Third
  • Comments: Henry Telison has put himself into the role of the nation's top manager by occupying the void left my the late long time national team boss, Justin Kiplin. Oxel Nuin got off to a slow start last season, but during the offseason, he is said to have really hit the training ground and is expected to really be a contender for that "most goals scored" position when the season is out. Alec Taber will be starting the season as the captain, making it his first year to be so.

YELLOW BEACH UNIVERSE
  • Location: Yellow Beach, Camwood ~ Sandside Arena Cap. 31,000
  • Manager: Richard Ellis
  • Nickname: 'the beach-boys'
  • Formation: 3-5-2
  • Key Player(s): ST Michael Cook, ST Prentice Berwick
  • Foriegners: ST Prentice Berwick (CVC)
  • Predicted Finish: Fourth
  • Comments: Michael Cook turned out to stay in YB after all. He, and Prentice Berwick, the Citiz who missed the entirety of the previous season due to a concussion sustained from making contact with a post during a corner, will try to continue to be an elite pair of strikers, hopefully to lead the league in combined goals. 'The beach-boys' should be able to pull off a fourth place finish, but don't expect too much, they have a very young line up of backs.

Port Kostas City, formerly the Port Kostas Strikers before hitting the wal and going bankrupt, is a side that will be a laughing stalk, and ridicule magnet for a good part of the first half of the season. They did manage to snag Juan Torres, the captain for the Starblaydi national team, of whom is in the World Cup proper and will spend a lot of the C-League season tied with international duties. Leonard Rossi has amazingly resisted the urge to jump ship and get on a club in which, actually has hopes of going somewhere. Sporting White Rock has lost their boss, who was supposedly the best manager in all of Camian history, but still have a major hoard of attacking talent, holding players such as Imre Ulsson from Mytannion and Jason Devereaux from Saugeais. They do have some reasonable talent in the back four, but not enough to propel them into an international competition seed. Henrysburg FC have been a mid-table presence for awhile now. Andrew Sandy is a local--or maybe national, but not international--hero. However, Sandy looks to build on a somewhat reputable career and make a case to deserve a call up for the Camian National Team. FC Nattas have a very young side, but talented enough to stay well above relegation. They constantly are getting kids out of collegiate play, and develop them, and sometimes sell them for a profit. A prominent prospect this season is Connor Taylor, an impressive wide midfielder coming out of Delacuse University. You have Montrique AC coming up from AAA, they should stay awhile, but not with out hardship. Kanston Dynamo and Delacuse United, should find their respective ways, below the Premier Division.

Season 6 Review

PREMIER DIVISION

What happens when you mix an Astograthian with a Camian League? Utter dominance, that's what. Oxel Nuin, who left Royal Rumiatzi to join Vanler a season ago, has became somewhat of a national superstar after clinching a second title for the franchise, and a first title for Nuin. Nuin also was awarded with the most goal scored this season, with 22 of them. Along with Nuin, Alec Taber had an impressive season, scoring ten goals. Taber was also a high performer at the corner kick, helping his team to score fifteen out of forty goals of a corner. MF Éric Horton from Cotdelapoms, and Gavin Taylor, a newly acquired centre back, who turned out to be not all that bad, also aided with Dynamo's success.

Of course, the holy Inter Compolis were runners up, and weren't to far from grabbing the championship. Kevin Torress age did show over the course of the season, but not too much; he tied for third in the goals scored races - he bagged eighteen goals total. Like always, Inter isn't solely reliant upon Torress, Jeff Cecil scored sixteen goals, and tied for fifth for overall goals scored. Offense wasn't the only thing going for Inter. Gaxan Echabeguren, the Iturrubutan goalkeeper had eleven clean sheets on the season, and plans to record more as the club looks towards the Globe Cup.

Sporting White Rock and Port Kostas City were also able to qualify for the Globe Cup. The latter did so more shockingly. Juan Torress, who was around for a handful of the games, but not all of them, was able to lead his side into conceding the least amount of goals of any club this season. Of course, you can't talk about City, without mentioning Leonard Rossi, who scored twenty goals, hence finishing second in overall goals scored. White Rock, which despite finishing higher than City, are getting a lot less attention then their fourth place counterparts. Imre Ulsson and Jason Deveauraux both did extremely well for their club, and will try to continue their efforts in the Globe Cup.

Who is taking a trip down stairs is just as interesting as the top dogs. Yellow Beach Universe, went from Globe Cup Qualifiers, to relegatees. Their boss, Richard Ellis, can expect a pink slip in the mail, and the entire YB Universe franchise will lose some players, and undergo some serious revamping. Delacuse United also got dropped from the top flight, their campaign to stick upstairs for more than a single season, has not-so-shockingly failed.

How did everyone else fare, in the epic of a football season? Well, my friend, that's what tables are for.

DSIFA Season 1

A SERIES

It was a very close race in the inaugral season of the DSIFA. A Series action lacked no suspense, as the final outcome really could have gone either way. Wesholm City, under the command of DSI national team manager, Oliver Eilberg, took home the championship with glory. Jaal Danvist lead the league in scoring, by netting a total of nine goals for his squad. Aleksander Edler lead a very tight defense, conceding almost the least number of goals of any side. Edler, also amazing, went the entire season without receiving a single booking, which is contrary to previous action.

North Port Islanders and Navalry were both able to secure a spot in the Globe Cup. Mikael van Idasson lead Islanders in a sprint at the end, moving from sixth to third in a matter of four matchdays. Navalry had their own young gun for opponents to worry about. Nicklas Bellovic scored eight goals, and is only twenty years of age. Supporters believe Bellovic is the striker needed for DSI to be an international power.

Camian Association of Football Established
ANDREW ROY
10.9.2012 12:58am

[CMC|COMPOLIS, Camwood] -- Discussions amongst a panel of prominent figures in association football stayed awake long into the night to finish and ratify the predecessor to the late Camian Association Football Administration. What they have come up with is a vigorous new feel to the governing body of Camwood's rapidly growing national pastime.

The charter of the Camian Association of Football, or Association Camien de Football, was signed by the president of every professional football club in Camwood officially today but literally last week when each club representative consented to having a copy of their signature printed at the bottom of the CAF Charter when it was printed and ratified. Finally, the panel of managers, ex-players, erclub owners, and other prominent footballing figures agreed unanimously on the charter an hour ago. However, these panel members had to deal with the swarms of press before reaching the taxi cabs at the curbs to escort them to their hotels for much deserved sleep. "At least we got this [ratifying the charter] done," said CAF chairman candidate Thomas Paulson. "Now, we [Camians] can get back to football when U.I.C.A. competitions are through."

The vote for CAF chairman will take place in two weeks, when every official, manager, owner, and player may submit a ballot dictating his/her choice to head the CAF for the next four World Cup cycles, as per the recently established charter. The charter also outlined the strict adherence to the laws of the game, as well as conduct policies, governance outlines, and cultural designations. Finally, the charter is set up in a way so that amendments are possible, and that issues that happen to be in contradiction to the charter can be dealt with, without having to ratify an entire new charter.

The CAF plans to further the development of football across Camwood and increasing the competitiveness of Camwood's professional clubs on the international stage. "I am looking forward to contributing to football at large in Camwood," said Chairman-candidate Paulson. "Whether I am elected Chairman [of the CAF] or not, I hope that the 'CAF era' is a golden age for Camian football."
