PASSED: Condemn Macedon

Postby Charlotte Ryberg » Tue Jun 16, 2009 4:59 am

SECURITY COUNCIL

Condemn Macedon
A resolution to express shock and dismay at a nation or region.

Category: Condemnation | Nominee: Macedon | Proposed by: Todd McCloud

Description: NOTING the various nation-regions which the imperialist region of Macedon holds.

UNDERSTANDING that Macedonism is both dangerous and discriminatory.

BELIEVING the bold orange text with blue accents on every colony's world factbook entry is distasteful and grotesque, furthermore removing the nation-region's right to support their own colors on the world factbook entry.

ACCEPTING the fact that Macedon has prevented natives of a particular nation (such as Lithuania, Belarus, France, Pakistan, Finland, etc) from running their own region and celebrating the nation's culture.

CONDEMNING Macedon and the Macedonian Empire for the above statements.

Voting ended at 5pm BST, and was passed as WA #51 with 3,123 votes to 1,206. 4,329 votes were cast.

Exhibit 1: Examples of regional invasions by Macedon, as demonstrated by Todd McCloud are shown thus: France, Belgium, Lithuania, Belarus, Chad, Czech Republic, Nepal.

Exhibit 2: A map:

I rise today to cast my vote against this proposal as I don't believe the security counsel should condemn and nation for the colors of their fact book. To say it's a petty reason is an understatement.

Further if there are nations in the region who are unhappy with the way it's being run they have two options. 1) Rise up and change it or 2) move the nation.

I will stand with Mr. Marbury on the issue. The World Assembly has no right to control what colors are used on an individual country's factbook.

i've been delegate of France for years. Macedonia arrived and did a "game over" in my region by adding a password and staying the only one nation...i think it's against the rules of the game, so i vote FOR !

Seeing no reason to really support this based on what has been stated... And honestly not believing a fact book entry is enough is constitute a condemnation.. also with the understanding if nations dislike a situation they can move or change the situation- we vote against

It's not against the rules anymore (not this thread...) but it is still really horrible to destroy an entire community as they do, which is why I voted to condemn them.

The main reason to condemn Macedon isn't the factbook entry color, but aggressions committed. Raiders from Macedon committed region destruction by ejecting all the nations and password-protecting invaded regions, thus preventing many nations from celebrating their culture and running their own region. Dirty imperialism.

Without any expectation that this condemnation will cause them to adjust the condemnees malevolent behavior, the Free Democracy of Ballotonia casts its vote confidently in favor of this condemnation.

We value the WA's new ability and willingness to express its disapproval of a region's behavior, as we regard the behavior of the region of Macedon to be such that this condemnation is warranted, and that the region of Macedon fully deserves to be the first region to see such a condemnation cast upon it.

I would like to echo the Ballotonian representative's sentiments. The Macedonians have devastated too many regions, and it is past time to condemn their imperialism.

Philimbesi wrote:I rise today to cast my vote against this proposal as I don't believe the security counsel should condemn and nation for the colors of their fact book. To say it's a petty reason is an understatement.

I think it's more important to note that they don't allow the natives of a region to use their own colors or write their own messages than to note what colors the Macedeonians may or may not use. This is kinda petty... and doesn't persuade ME, per se, but I believe (after further discussion amoungst my region,) I'll be voting in favor of this condemnation.

Philimbesi wrote:Further if there are nations in the region who are unhappy with the way it's being run they have two options. 1) Rise up and change it or 2) move the nation.

This is very true. On the other hand, though regional research into this matter is still ongoing, it seems as though Macedon makes it a point to password the regions they take over... meaning that option 1 is impossible, at least until and if the Liberation proposals come into effect. Option 2 is still perfectly viable, though it brings to mind the fact that, probably due to passwording the place, Macedon is in 'ownership' of several regions that have only a single nation.

The effect of this is that NS players from France can not join the France region... which isn't the end of the world, but they might very much enjoy the symbolism of doing such a thing.

Raiding is part of the game... personally, I don't have much against it. Same with passwording a place. ICly however, if we can translate these actions into some sort of RPed event... we see a region going around having wars, kicking everybody out, and putting up large fences. My character finds this to be highly condemnable and will cast his vote in favor of this resolution pending regional opinion.

If you intend to vote against every condemnation that isn't going to change anything then you will be voting against a lot. None of them will ever have any effect... (unless admin does somthing new).

I always cast my vote ICly... which is confusing, especially lately, with regard to the new Security Council. I realize that these C&C's don't do anything... but, ICly, it seems to do certain things... if only establish a slightly discouraging foreign policy against Macedon.

I support this resolution for RP purposes. My character does not see this resolution as doing nothing.

The condemnation isn't about the WFE colors - that is only a minor detail I put in that sort of resonates what they do to regions. Allow me to cite some examples (ps, please read the RMBs, there is some information there as well):

France
Belgium
Lithuana
Belarus
Chad
Czech Republic
Nepal

I can provide an entire list, as well as share personal stories on the matter, if the floor wants.

Please do. I haven't been around long, and don't know all the history behind these things. With C&Cs in particular such problems are accentuated. For this particular resolution I did some research... confided in some region members... and decided to support it.

Such information can be hard to come by for new players... who may not know where to look. I think it would be very helpful for you to provide for information.

Ms. Sarah Harper: that's enough evidence for me to support this resolution and to be precise I may have found a good use for the C&C and region liberation categories...

The World Assembly,

URGES as many member states and regional delegates as possible to support this resolution and;

REQUIRES the disgraced region of Macedon to hand over its annexed territories to their natives before the Assembly does it for them!

Todd, I've added the evidence to the appendices of the leading post.

Sure thing.

Complete list of nation-regions which they hold:
Chad
Croatia
Cyprus
Czech Rep.
Albania
Andorra
Azerbaijan
Bahrain
Bangladesh
Belarus
Belgium
Bolivia
Bosnia and Herzegovina
Brazil
Bulgaria
Burma
Eritrea
France
Hungary
Jordan
Kyrgyzstan
Latvia
Libya
Lithuania
Macedonia
Mali
Malta
Mauritania
Moldova
Montenegro
Nepal
Niger
Nigeria
Oman
Pakistan
Papua New Guinea
Saudi Arabia
Serbia
Slovenia
Sri Lanka
Tajikistan
Tunisia
Turkmenistan
Venezuela
Yemen

Let’s analyze the Macedonian Empire’s “conquests”. Read them. The *closest* any region got to having friendship with the Macedonians (which means sucking up to their beliefs) was Hungary. How is it doing now? Just ask its only member, or not, he’s a Macedonian puppet. Croatia looks good, but they have nothing *about* Croatia on the WFE, just Macedonian websites and a welcome message in different languages. Other regions fare no better. Belgium, which *is* under control of the Macedonians will soon turn into France and Pakistan, an unfounded, password-protected region. Or, maybe it’ll turn into Lithuana, or Latvia, Finland, Chad, Venezuela, Oman, Yemen, Serbia, Slovenia, Belarus, most of the –stan nations, Libya, etc. I could go on and on.

How they conquered Bulgaria (according to the former nation's owner, "Misholand"):
About 2 years ago, when I was an imperialist myself, I tried to refound Bulgaria, but backed down because of one fiery nation who wanted to refound it herself on her leisure. That was fine - I think I moved on to Turkey then, only to pretty much do the same thing. She ended up dating one of the Macedonians and, according to her, when he was over at her house, stole her passwords on her computer, took Bulgaria, and essentially made it Macedonian. This after they had been dating for… about six months (I’m ballparking that, it could be more or less).

Please note, I do not view the M.E. as raiders, who I support. I view them as empire builders who abandon any alliances they form for opportunistic conquests.

How they took Latvia:
When I was raiding under Fox Rite, I was refounding small regions that had asked me personally to refound. This time, I got a telegram from a Latvian region asking me to refound it after they saw what I did in Ukraine. I had known for a while the reason why the M.E. refounded Lithuania was because Lithuanian names, as they put it, sounded too Greek (or Freaks, as they called them) and were thus supposed to be conquered. So I moved in, most of the natives complied, booted the rest, passworded, then attempted to refound. However, I was more or less surprised to see the Macedonians, supposed raiders, move in and seize the region, leaving nothing changed since they refounded it. So please, don't refer to them as "raiders" - raiders tend to have a little more class than that.
