Even within our own universe, we create hundreds of universes.
Our novels, hot from the presses. Our one-off television premieres. Our movies. Each contains its own new universe - a new history, new characters, new environment.
The question becomes "what happens if they all get smashed into one?" Will we truly have the Doctor killing Cylons on the Starship Enterprise? Tom and Jerry fighting against the Joker? Team Lyoko battling the Hell Girl? Or will these hundreds of combined universes work together to right the horrendous twist of imagination before all creativity on Earth dies and the combined reality is extinguished along with everything in it?
Finding yourself caught in the waves of the Great Convergence, you will have to find a way to pick up the pieces of your universe, and perhaps work to send this twisted torrent of imagination back into its normal, separated state. Or, perhaps you might work to keep the stories in a state of Convergence, perhaps using the merger as a way to lash out at non-fictional Earth?

Now, let's get one thing straight. I'm not crazy.
Yet.
Convergence is what I would consider my 'epiphany' RP, in that I have discovered that fitting people into a box, even if it's a very BIG box, stifles RP quality. Now, I might be crazy for taking it to the opposite extreme - there is a box, but it includes everything. Everything fictional, at least. That's my one rule for this RP's chars:
1) Keep it fictional, as in from a book, TV show, movie, comic, etc. (no NS-based characters, plz.)
No, wait, I take that back:
1b) Be detailed.
I don't want Dicky Dot (Nerd Alert: Dicky Dot was posited for a replacement of Garfield's comic strip in the movie Garfield Gets Real, and all it was was a black dot on a page - the epitome of putting Dalmatians in the Arctic), but on the other hand, I don't expect you to create a character with a description a mile long. Hell, if you'd like, choose a character from some work of fiction - that's part of the premise of Convergence, in that a crapload of fictional universes get smashed together like modeling clay.

Other Rules:
1) No flaming, trolling, spamming, godmodding, etc. etc. etc.
1b) I reserve the right to remove you from the RP if I get the feeling you're ruining the group dynamic.
2) I will choose a co-OP and, though he or she may not remove anyone from the RP, his or her word is to be treated as if it were mine, unless I overrule him or her.
3) Be active. If you don't post ICly for 4 days without reason, I'll hit you with a TG. If 4 becomes 7, I'll bonk you.
4) Be detailed. Try your best to keep your posts 3 lines or longer (1- or 2-liners are acceptable in fast-action spots).
5) No smoking. If you are smoking, I will think you are on fire and will act accordingly (blast you with a fire hose).
6) There is no Rule #6, just the same as there is no nineteenth story. (2 NSdollars to whoever gets the reference)
7) HAVE FUN. If you aren't having fun, what's the point?

There is no app, because a strict app form would constitute part of the creativity box I'm trying to avoid. If you're using a pre-existing character, either link to a description of the character, or write a description of the character (1 to 5 paragraphs, please). If you're creating a character, write a description of the character AND the backstory of its universe (again, 1 to 5 paragraphs, please). Also, if I don't know you, please provide me with at least one (and preferably two or three) RP samples.
