What is the meaning of your capital city's name?

Simply put. Does your capital city's name have any particular meaning, or is it just some funny word you stuck on it? What is that meaning?

In Tali'Zorica, the capital city (Yorktown) is named for Gordon York Cahill, aka "Yorkie" Cahill, the President of Tali'Zorica's Constitutional Convention in 1718. The city was Armitage (Tali'Zorican to English translation: land of hope) prior to 1733, when it was renamed in honor of Yorkie.

The capital, Necropolis means "City of the Dead," as in a burial land, comparable in size to a community. Colma, CA is an example, made up of cemeteries, which provide for San Francisco's deceased. The community also has living citizens, but the dead astronomically outnumber them.

Venom. The name in, conjunction with the location and design of the city, is designed to reinforce the idea that it (and the government within it) is a heady cocktail of aggression, power and danger. No-one wants to go there, it is a feared place. Not even the bravest would risk the attention of the ruling elite, it just keeps everyone nice and quiet and compliant. Lovely.

Hello GWO. Latin roots are fun. "Pax Antidea - Pax Praesens - Pax Futura." (Tali'Zorican motto - "Peace past - peace now - peace to be".

Yorktown was originally going to be Polis Futura (city of the future), but the framers of Tali'Zorica chose to keep the Latin in the motto.

For the city have grown alot since it's founding and has thus changed it's name.

Origin of the name "Toyland" is unclear - some believe that it is due to the first Russian settlers in the TBRE in the 1800s shouting out in shock, upon realization that the teddy bear - seen as a toy in their part of the world - actually existed for real. The nation as a whole was known as "Land of the Toys," but when it became the Teddy Bear Republic Empire, the name "Toyland" was instead scoped down, and chosen to be the name of the new capital.

Felix is the ancestral name of the House of Felixii. The noble house whose capital it was before the unification when it became the capital of Purpelia. Interestingly enough, the first records of the name stem from the old sagas where the city is mentioned by the words: The town of Felix, where there be many cats. It is believed by some scholars therefore that the name actually came as the bastardization of the Latin word Felix (meaning cat) adopted from roman traders some time during the bronze age.

No seriously, it was a castle on a mountain and called "Rock" because it was so impossible to conquer. The side walls work perfect together with the cliffs.
The city today is of course also around the "Rock" in the valley.

The capital is called Ko-oren City... After the nation, which is named 'golden region' in Ko-oran, the national language.
