The Pride of Maron

Postby Maron » Fri May 04, 2012 5:26 pm

The Pride of Maron, that is what His Majesty King Ryan stated Friday, in a send-off ceremony for the National Team of Maron. Perhaps the biggest sport in Maron, Aussie Rules football is played by nearly half of all citizens in Maron and the annual Grand Final in Christchurch is the oldest continous played game in all of Maron. His Majesty the King presented team manager Louis Williams with a key to the City of Christchurch and awarded the players personally with their guersney. Though Friendlies have been played in the past, the chance to finally showcase the talent of Maron's own Aussie Rules Football team, on the world stage has got the nation excited. The King said at The Royal Football Ground in Christchurch today, "I guarantee that while this tournament is going on, that the nation of Maron will be shut down." He went on to speak for several minutes about how the whole nation would be behind the players as they entered into the World Trophy. Eventually handing the microphone to his wife, Her Majesty Queen Hannah, she said," People of Maron, i know as a little girl growing up in the Islands that Aussie Rules football was dear to the hearts of the people there. Now, i have the faith that Maron will have a successfull showing in the World Trophy, and will do our nation proud. Thank You for being here." As the Ceremony died down, many people could be heard singing, "Good Old Maron, they're champions you'll agree, Maron is the team that plays to win for you and me.." Well folks, only time will tell if the most popular sport in Maron will be a decent showing for the Pride of Maron.

Championship Hopes

Postby Maron » Thu May 10, 2012 6:54 am

The Christchurch Herald

The National Team of Maron has begun the Championship in stlye with 3 victories. The biggest sport in Maron has given the National Team pride for the moment. The whole nation has become jubilant in the celebration. Maron's King Ryan announced that as long as Maron was in the championship, Parliament would not meet an therefore the nation should be shut down. The World Trophy will be shown on both the Maron Sports Channel and the Footy Channel. Manager Louis Williams has been named as possibly the next recipent of the Order of Light, and his Royal Highness Prince Alexander will be attending the next match to cheer on the National Team. His Majesty was too excited to say anything and has declared that he will attend the match as well. With Christopher Smalling leading the National team in goals, in the tournament, the hopes and dreams rest on the shoulders of the small 21 year-old. Matthew Lewis is playing for his first World Trophy, but has been the captain of Maron for 20 years. Nicholas Black, is the King's cousin, and is the most experienced playeer next to Matt Lewis. What a tournament so far for Maron, the goal coming in was not to be bad, but to do decently, and so far so good. Hopefully for the National Team of Maron, the goal will be to make the semi-finals, but only time will tell. The National sport of Maron has made this reporter very proud.

Aussie Rules fever? Not really, but M7 hasn't done all too badly so far...

Its a weird game from a weird country aye! Filopines seems to like it, and we've not done too badly, but its such a silly game! Here's a few reasons why...

1. Its played by tall and lanky men who play in tight singlets and short shorts. Sorry fellas, but we only like long legs on the girls!
2. The field isn't even rectangular. What's up with that? Seriously, that's freaking weird!
3. There's 4 posts. At each end. What's this, a free point for missing the real goal?
4. For a really bad miss, you not only get no points, but a free kick against you? Talk about a demoralising blow to the face!
5. Every 15 metres you have to drop the ball and pick it up again. I bet the klutzy guys love this game!
6. You're actually allowed to jump on an opponent's back! What the heck? Wrestling or Football?
7. There's 18 players on each team. And only four substitutes. It really must take some fitness! Plus 18 seems pretty crowded...
8. There's two ways to pass. One by kicking, fair enough. But the other...You have to punch the ball to a teammate? And we thought it was weird already!
9. The fields aren't even standardised lengths! They can be short and round, or long and ovular, it doesn't even matter! Any fights over it? Hopefully!
10. And finally, the scores are so bloated! Its like close games don't even exist! 60 point thrashings are commonplace!

So let's take a look at our results here in Filopines...Does this place even exist? Seriously NO ONE has heard of it! I know more people who have flown to the twilight zone, than have gone to Filopines.

Michael VII 10.6.66 def by Maron 18.7.125 (We lost by 59 points!)
Michael VII 16.16.112 def The Icemark 13.6.84 (28 point win. Solid!)
Michael VII 22.11.143 def Filopines 8.10.58 (85 point thrashing! Of the hosts!)
Michael VII 10.10.70 def by The Royal Kingdom of Quebec 14.17.101 (At least this 31 point loss was closer...)

Best M7 Player on Ground
v Maron -Trent Orsmby
v The Icemark - Hugo Marsh
v Filopines - Nathan Geld
v TRK Quebec - Harry Tews

The Dick of the Day
-Daniel Felton v Maron. Too many easy goals let in...
-Jonathan O'Donnell v The Icemark. This game was pretty close, but if he was able to not kick everything out on the full, it mightn't have been.
-Stewart Rickerts v Filopines. Didn't do anything wrong, as this match was damn near perfect...We just don't like him!
-Reese Kelly v TRK Quebec. The Ruckmen weren't working today. Disposals were terrible!

"It's our national game and we can't let anyone beat us at it"

Those were the words of Filopines coach, Jonathan "Johnno" Farmer at the post match interview against Michael VII. Despite Michael VII being newcomers to the sport, they were still able to beat us. "It was a disappointing effort by our team." commented Johnno.

But after beating Maron, he was overjoyed. "Awesome. That was an awesome performance. It wasn't a big win, but at least we won. Aussie rules is the biggest sport in Maron. And if it's their biggest sport, in most cases, they will be good at it. I'm happy."

"The National team is still the best in the world." Those were the words of Louis Williams after their one goal loss to the Filopines. For Maronians, Aussie Rules Football or just plain Football, is considered to be both their pastime and their passion. Maron hopes to host the World Trophy II and would like to finish top of their group. However, as Louis Williams went on to say, "This is our first major Championship. If we don't win, it won't cause any problems." At this point, many of the Maronian reporters began grumbling that this man wasn't the right one for the job. Well, Matchday 5 is upon us. If Maron can gets its fourth win, it will be a good thing, and now, the National Sport of Maron may bring more joy. The Maron Football League kickoffs the same day as Matchday 5, which is tonight. So for Maronians. They will be enjoying their footy. No matter what. Come On Maron win for us!

National Travesty

Postby Maron » Sat May 12, 2012 6:17 pm

TWO CONSECTUTIVE LOSSES BY MARON HAS REALLY DISHEARTNED THE NATION.

Well, that was the headline after Louis Williams walked off the field in shame. Maron has now lost two games in a row, and has caused the nation look seriously about the future of their national team. Thought they could still possibly make the final four, they are now simply playing the game to get experience for the younger players, when Maron will submit a bid to host the second World Trophy. Christopher Smalling and Matthew Lewis were both held scoreless in the defeat, and Louis Williams is likely to step down after this tournament if the national team does not make atleast the Final four. Well, hopefully everything will be back on track in the next game.

4-0-2 Maron is gotta a second place spot at the moment. Christopher Smalling was not shut down for the National team, as the fans knocked back a few brews and celebrated Maron's 4th win all-time in group play of the World Trophy. Maron has played their hearts out. After attending the Christchurch Gunners opening match, King Ryan was spotted at the 6th round matchup for Maron. He was in the box overlooking the left side of the pitch, and was seen wearing a Maronian Guersney, instead of his usual suit and tie that he prefers to wear. Louis Williams couldn't have been prouder of the team as they walked off the field. Perhaps they have what it takes to make the Grand Final, who knows? Christopher Smalling was nominated by the Maronian Football Association to the receive the James Elk Sheldon Medal for Fairest and Best on the Maronian national team and has also been given the chance to become team captain after Matt Lewis retires at the end of this campaign.

Eric Canton was interviewed by the Herald and had this to say, "We're flying High right now. We feel like that we could go on and do great things in this tournament." 4-0-3 Maron is looking at at second place finish in the group. Well, it means that six wins will guarantee a spot in the Finals. Just maybe we can pull out a big match. The national team gathered to join hands after game and sing We're Flyin High. It was announced on Monday, that Matthew Lewis was leaving the team effective immediately due to a family matter and would be replaced by Samuel Canton who will become the first brother to play for the Maron Nation Team, as his brother Eric is already on the squad. The Canton's have a long history of success in Maron, and due to the Father-Son Law, the Hamilton Bulldogs have selected the Cantons for nearly 70 years. Matt Lewis has announced that after the family matter is taken care of he will become the manager of the Christchurch Gunners
