KIONAO TURORI LOCALS LOOK FOR SBCC REPEAT
Turorian Clubs Prepare for UICA Championships

The Kionao Turori Locals will return to defend their Series B Champions Cup title during the upcoming UICA cycle after a very succesful league season, boosted by their SBCC Championship, where the Locals were crowned champions of the Vilitan Declasse earning promotion back to the Stellar Division for V-League Season 30.

The Locals became the first Turorian side to win a major international competition, and the first club from the Vilitan League to win any UICA sanctioned competition. Vilita's Arcticala Inlet would later win the Aeropag Invitational to bring glory to the main Island as well in a succesful international season for the V-League.

Despite constant inquiries from Stellar Division clubs, the Locals were able to hang on to their star players, including Season 29 Declasse best player Hilary Vander Rox

The locals will be joined in the Series 'B' Champions Cup by FC Almintora who narrowly avoided relegation from the Declasse with a victory on the final matchday that saw them leapfrog Alikki-Corra and into V-League safety for one more season. Almintora, once a shining star of Turorian sport in the Stellar Division, has no recognized internationals on their roster, even from Turori.

In the Globe Cup, Wunokalsa Waridi, a former league club now playing in the non-league ranks and making their first ever UICA appearance. Waridi qualified for the Globe Cup by virtue of being the highest placed Turorian team in the Vilitan Cup who was not already qualified for the UICA tournaments. Waridi will be joined by Stellar Division strugglers Mliona-Lpaka FC who are still trying to establish themselves in the top level of the V-League after promotion two seasons back

Turori UICA Stadium Bids

UICA Series 'B' Champions Cup: Kionao Minor Field, Kionao, Turori (88,000 Available)

In addition to looking to defend their SBCC Title, Kionao are also hoping to host the final, submitting Kionao Minor Field as a host venue for the SBCC. The Locals would make 88,000 tickets available for the event, per their proposal, which includes the installation of a large video board for the match, and a large pen where some Cocoabos will be on display in hopes of gathering support for their preservation.

UICA Globe Cup - Coliseum of the Inurahtii - Inura Forest, Turori (88,000 Capacity)

Located in the deep forest of Turori away from the population centers, the Coliseum of the Inurahtii began construction around World Cup 31, but construction was off and on until a purpose could be found. The grand vision was to have a stadium facing the beautiful forest with the sea off in the distance, visible to those in the large eastern grandstand that towered above the canopy in the original plans. Finally, the Football Association of Turori agreed that if the stadium was completed, they would host some national team matches there. Additionally, the Vilitan League allowed Turorian Expansion team "Inura Forests FC" to be join the non-league ranks as an official member, playing based at the Coliseum during Season 27.
<Silexhera> Why does Turori make sense? :p

Electricians Take Home Aéropag Invitational Title

Arcticala Inlet were drawn into Group B of the Aéropag Invitational along with the well known Sonoma Center Panthers, Sporting Iturributa and the exciting newcomers from Miskatonic University, Extramarine.

The Electricians crucially won their opening match against Sporting Iturributa 3-1. It would end up being the difference in the table as draws against Extramarine and Sonoma Center Panthers saw the Electricians and Panthers level on 5 points, with the Electricians topping the group on goal difference.

Extramarine 0–1 Sonoma Center Panthers
Sonoma Center Panthers 0–0 Sporting Iturributa
Arcticala Inlet 1–1 Extramarine

Topping the table allowed the Electricians to advance to the playoff bracket where they would square off against International Competition specialists the Fontvielle Impact who had become the first team ever to reach the playoff bracket stage for three consecutive Aéropag Invitational competitions. Arcticala Inlet would upset the Impact with a 1-0 victory on the heels of a goal from Turori's Rikko Rawaii. Equally as impressive was the shutout performance from Vilitan goalkeeper Aranora Jaded, propelling the Electricians into their first International competition final.

Between the Fontvielle Impact and their Aéropag Invitational final opposition, FKM from Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, the Electricians would be squaring off with the two teams that combined had won two of the four previous UICA Champions League finals, while appearing in all four of the previous finals, a true test for the Arcticala Inlet squad.

Inlet would take the challenge head-on, however, and incredibly took the final 2-1 over FKM, winning their first international honors in the process. Vrotaoa Lorasoiba opened the scoring to give the Electricians a 1-0 lead at the half. They doubled the advantage on the hour mark, Camthalio Ringëril heading home after a Resaie Kentiak free kick. FKM netted a goal back with 10 minutes to play through Eduard Winogradsky, setting up a grandstand finish at the Stade de la Tour olympique. The players of Arcticala Inlet proudly collected their gold medals and returned to Vilita to a reception of fanfare at the Arcticala Electrical Stadium.

Strike are one of the most storied clubs in Vilitan history, and always boast a very strong, very Vilitan starting lineup. Some of the best players in Vilita history have come through the gates of the locker room of Jungle Strike FC, including Callum Banda, Inaki Soler, Ricky Ezis, Jimmy Kater, Santo Kecker and many others. It took 12 seasons before Strike would win their first Stellar Division title, then they waited until Season 18 to win again. But Jungle Strike were clearly the dominant team before the gap, winning 6 of 7 Stellar Division titles, a streak matched previously only by the Yeaddin Owls. Strike did the double twice in that time period, and even pulled off the 'Triple' winning the Stellar Division, Vilitan Cup and Tropical Trophy all in Season 20/21. Strike have been to the knockout stages of all the great International Competitions they have entered, but never followed through with a championship, last being eliminated in the Semi-Finals of Champions League 8.

Strike have been stretched by the use of their players by the Vilitan National Team, with most of their entire starting roster being regular call ups to the Vilitan squad. For Season 29, the Venom allowed Turorian midfielder Cedicii Tzatzos to leave the club while adding young Krytenian defensive prospect Matt Ordish. The changes saw the Venom leapfrog back to the top of the Stellar Division, doing the double by winning the Stellar Division and Vilitan Cup in an emphatic return to glory in their tit-for-tat battle for supremacy with Arcticala Inlet.

Cednia Beach AFC are one of the founding members of the Stellar Division and one of the few teams who has competed in the Stellar Division for every season of its existence, having never finished below 11th. Cednia Beach are the only Turorian team to ever win the Stellar Division Championship, having done so multiple times. The clubs all-time top player was Goalkeeper Milauo Slietah who made nearly 600 Stellar Division appearances for the club. Slietah is also notable as being the first goalkeeper to ever score a hattrick in an International match, for the Turori National Team against Starblaydia, and having been elected into the World Cup Hall of Fame. Slietah, along with fellow Turorian Marlian Hunial, helped form Cednia Beach AFC for the inagural Stellar Division season.

After winning the Stellar Division for the second time during Season 26, Cednia Beach finished runners-up to Strike FC in Season 27. Some have criticized the wholesale changes the Turorian side made to the roster following the dissapointment of not defending their Stellar Division championship, others have said they just need time to gel. The coconuts have added 9 recognized international to the roster during Season 28 and slipped 5 spots in the final standings, looking for a good portion of the season that they would fail to even finish as the highest placed Turorian team. Eventually it was the 5 goals from Aguazul's Merlin Salomon that helped them climb back up the table and re-claim their champions league place.

In addition to Salomón, Cednia Beach set an all-time Vilitan League transfer record in signing Vilitan National Team star Kristofer Kilpter from the Yeaddin Owls. They also added Uajiala Pulkki, Tiika Diirotora, Cristoh Nrubari, Rexii Tzikas, Raso Tareak and Krytenian striker Eric Tyler. Diirotora was sold promptly at the end of Season 28 to Makosile, replaced by Turorian Lioniaa Tana who arrived from Eastal Lunar.

Arcticala Inlet will enter the UICA Champions League for the first time in the 38th edition after running away as champions of the 28th Vilitan Stellar Division championship. Arcticala are three-time Champions of the Vilitan Stellar Division, having previously won the title in seasons 19 and 25. In addition to their Stellar Division successes, Arcticala Inlet have won the Vilitan Cup 7 times, tying them with Yeaddin Owls for the most all time. Arcticala were also Declasse champions in Season 4, and have won 5 of their 9 Tropical Trophy appearances. The list of former players at Arcticala Inlet reads like a who's who of the World Cup. From Vilita's Callum Banda to Cockbill Street's Rhianna Peters or the incredible Half-Starblaydi, Half-Rejistanian super breed of Syku-Lyku Agbayani, it is no surprise that the Electricians have had their fair share of success throught the years.

Arcticala Inlet have been led by Super-Star Erathi striker Camthalio Ringëril and his Erathore National Team-mate, midfielder Anthony Rojas. The Electricians are led on defense by Azestella Ajhabeck, a youthful Starblaydi Nationality who fled the country after the announcement that the Starblaydia National Team would be going on a hiatus, in order to pursue a worthwhile career in the V-League and potentially acquire dual-nationality in time.

The "Electricians" nick name for the club has evolved through iterations of the clubs actual name, being referred to in Starblaydi press as "Electrical Outlet" rather than "Arcticala Inlet". Fresh media caught on, and 'Electrical Outlet' got shortened to 'Electrical' which eventually led to the nickname the team possesses today. The Arcticala Electrical Stadium was built during World Cup 34 and won their Season 25 championship playing in the beautiful new stadium. Unfortunately, during the V-League gap between Seasons 25 and 26, the maintenance costs on the new stadium were too great for the club to pick up, and the stadium fell into moderate disrepair, so the Electricians returned to their original home, Inlet Stadium, for V-League 26 and remained at the Inlet Stadium through the Vilitan League 28 season where they were once again crowned V-League Champions. During V-League 28, the refurbishment on the Arcticala Electrical Stadium was complete, and was opened for Arcticala Inlet's Cup-run which saw them make it to the final.

The Inlet was not able to repeat as champions during Season 29, losing striker Xcnaio Bansoa to the Yeaddin Owls, the Striker feeling he had done all he could, winning the Stellar Division and the Aeropag Invitational with the Electricians, and wanted a new challenge where he could be a star player in the rise of a big club instead of just a supporting act for the maintainance of success at Arcticala.

The Tide were promoted to the Stellar Division for the first time in Season 24. They have performed admirably however, never really threatening relegation in 3 seasons of competition and fighting strongly with long-time Stellar Division side Turoki Isle for a share of the Turoki City fanbase, and for the title of "Best Team in Turoki". With their 7th place finish in the table during Season 26, The Tide earned that title from Turoki Isle, who had beat the Tide by one place in the standings the previous season, and also placed higher than the other club from the city, Turoki United, had ever done in their 8 previous seasons in the Stellar Division. The Tide earned their first international invitation in the Trefeo de Principe after V-League 26, and have since qualified for UICA Competitions.

After finishing an all-time best 3rd in the Stellar Division during Season 28, the Tide started recruiting and built a squad capable of challenging for the Title during Season 29. The Tide led the table as late as matchday 23 in a 26 game season, eventually finishing in a club-best runner-up position, sandwiched between champions Strike FC and the V-League's other super-club, Arcticala Inlet and cementing themselves as a serious challenger in Vilita with their second consecutive top 3 finish in the standings.

As of next year, teams from Ko-orens four conferences (2nd divisions) will be able to promote to the National League. The way this is set up is as follows:

The Ko-orenite second division is divided into four conferences: North, East, South and West. These are all full leagues, with 20 teams in the North Conference, 16 in the East, 16 in the South and 14 in the West. The champions of the four conferences will automatically qualify for the play-offs. The numbers 2, 3 and 4 of the Northern conference, the numbers 2 and 3 of the Eastern and Southern conference and the number 2 of the Western conference will also play in the play-off. (This totals to 12 teams from the complete 2nd division.)

The last four teams of the National League (KNL), the first division, will also play in the play-offs. (This totals to a number of 16 teams that play in the P/R play-offs.)

The sixteen teams will be drawn into four groups of four, with every group of four containing:
- One 'last four' National League team
- One 2nd division champion
- Two 2nd division non-champions

The groups of four will all play each other cup-style: the four teams will play a small play-off cup, with semi-finals and one final. In the first round of the play-off cup, the KNL team and the 2nd div champion will not play each other. The winners of each of the four play-off cups will promote to the National League.

To show how this will work out, this season's standings have been used to simulate play-offs:

The last four of the KNL:
- Hógóne
- Kthósl
- Síshínóvá
- Rábth

The four 2nd div champions:
- Mázaj (North Conference)
- Ódé (East Conference)
- Diamond Dust (South Conference)
- Tkhon (West Conference)

The numbers 2, 2&3, or 2, 3 and 4 of the conferences:
- Enkl (N)
- Álárá (N)
- Khlíbdün (N)
- Ídígó (E)
- Etena (E)
- Hail (S)
- Cirrus (S)
- Stürng (W)

The groups were drawn as:

Group 1: Kthósl, Ódé, Cirrus, Álárá

Group 2: Hógóne, Mázaj, Ídígó, Enkl

Group 3: Síshínóvá, Tkhon, Etena, Hail

Group 4: Rábth, Diamond Dust, Khlíbdün, Stürng

This would give the following match-ups:

G1: Kthósl - Cirrus, Ódé - Álárá

G2: Hógóne - Ídígó, Mázaj - Enkl

G3: Síshínóvá - Etena, Tkhon - Hail

G4: Rábth - Khlíbdün, Diamond Dust - Stürng

Group1
Kthosl 1–0 Cirrus
Ode 4–1 Alara

Group2
Hogone 2–0 Idigo
Mazaj 2–1 Enkl

Group3
Sishinova 0–1 Etena
Tkhon 0–1 Hail

Group4
Rabth 3–1 Khlibdun
Diamond Dust 2–1 Sturng

Finals:

Group1
Kthosl 2–0 Ode

Group2
Hogone 1–0 Mazaj

Group3
Etena 2–0 Hail

Group4
Rabth 1–1 Diamond Dust (1–1 AET) (4–2 pen.)

That would mean that Kthosl, Hogone and Rabth stay in the KNL, while Etena wins over Sishinova and 2nd div champions Tkhon to promote to the KNL! Experiment success!

These were just to show how the system works, which will be implemented from season 2.

As the teams from season 1 stay the same in season 2, here is the official guide to the KNL!

Official Guide To The KNL: Ko-oren National League
The League has 20 teams, that all play each other twice a season: away and home. The number of points first decides a team’s position, then the goal difference, with equal goal difference, the head-to-head result comes into play.
The 20 teams are easily dividable into four distinct groups, based on geographical distribution. North has nine teams, due to the region’s population, South has five, East has four and West, the least populated region, has two. North’s color is blue, for East, this is red, South has yellow and green is the favored color of the West. Interestingly, all teams have their regions color as one of their kit’s colors.

Starting with the Northern Region:
Jeknolr
The first team of the Northern Conference is Jeknolr. Playing in Blue and Silver, the Arrows rank among the best teams of all 9 Northern Conference teams. They play their home matches in Thunder Arena, in the city of Ésthauan, Jeknolr state. As far as there are rural areas in North Ko-oren, Jeknolr is usually mentioned as rural North. Still, they produce some of the best players and trainer staff in the country.

Othushun
Othushun is the main state team of the most populous of all Ko-oren’s states. Therefore, Othushun’s players always suffer from a lot of pressure from so many people that like to see Othushun win – or fail. They play in Sraltlur, Othushun state, in the Sunshine Stadium. They play in Blue and Yellow, nicknamed the philosophers – a reference to some of the city’s famous scholars.

Kol
Kol is another team from Othushun state. A bitter rivalry with Othushun is the most logical consequence: playing in Blue and Purple, their secondary color is even opposite to Othushun’s. Kol, however, even though the city they play in is the second-largest of the country, usually does not feel pressure at all. They usually rank around Othushun.

Viltsr
Viltsr is the first of two teams to come from Viltsr city, in Rabth state. They play in a full Blue kit, in the Rabth State Park. The other team is Rabth itself, with which they have a gigantic rivalry. Viltsr’s goal is normally to draw against opponents that are seen as better than them, resulting in a mid-table place, usually.

Ko-oren Capital
The Capitals are the most prestigious team. Coming from the capital of Ko-oren city, they feel more pressure than any other team, while the team’s quality is normally not much higher than mid-table. Playing in Blue and Green, they are the only team in the league to display the country’s national colors.

Vnoskjulung
Vnoskjulung come from the far Northeastern part of the country. Even though it is not colder than anywhere else, their nickname is the Nordics. Their home ground of North Green Park is considered holy to the fans, that expect any home game to be a win. Nevertheless, the team loses away points easily. Ranked 13th in the first season, there is a lot to improve with the Blue and Black team.

Liju
Liju plays in Blue and Orange, resulting in their nickname ‘The Eyesores’. Liju is the third team of Othushun state, and despite their usual results (below midtable), the derbies against Othushun and Kol are heavy matches, without a clear favorite. Liju normally struggles against the teams that rank around the team, and sometimes manages to get a point against the higher teams.

Kthosl
Kthosl is the state team where the capital is in: their rivals are the Capitals. Kthosl plays in Blue and White, and are nicknamed the Clouds. They play in the National Stadium, together with the Ko-oren Capitals. Kthosl ranked 18th in their first season, and the derby is usually a one-sided game.

Rabth
Rabth is the second team from Viltsr, Rabth state. They play in Blue and Light Green, called the Lights, as a reference to their bigger brothers. Rabth ranked 20th in their first season, whereas Viltsr has been 10th. They own the stadium Rabth State Park, and share it with Viltsr.

Moving on to the Southern Region:
Branvun
Branvun is one of five Southern teams: it is from the city of Branvun, the capital of Engbrothun state. They play in Yellow and Blue, nicknamed the Historians for the famous historical role of the city in Ko-orenite history. They share the Alpha Ground with Engbrothun team.

Tangku
Tangku is the city team of the capital of Arelothun. They play in Yellow and Green, nicknamed the Seconds. This is because they were originally the second team in the league, invited just after Arelothun confirmed. However, their firm rivals structurally rank lower than Tangku, with Tangku being 3rd in the first season.

Norilya
Norilya is the third of five teams that is from a city, rather than a state. It ranked 4th in the first season, play in Yellow only in the 1800 Dome. They are nicknamed the Suns for their kit color, and have no firm rivalry with any other team. They usually leave the rivalries to the other four teams from the South, because all other teams are from two different cities. Norilya is from Ségónáná, a port city in northern Arelothun.

Arelothun
Arelothun is the state team, but has been outperformed by Tangku, their rivals. Arelothun play in the Wind Arena, shared with Tangku, and play in Yellow and Red. They are nicknamed the Hills, after the state’s landscape. They are also the first team invited to the league.

Engbrothun
Engbrothun is the other state team, having Branvun as rivals. They play their home matches in Alpha Ground, and play in Yellow and Black. Despite their rivals being Branvun, the matches against Arelothun say the most about the team’s strength: they both rank mid-table. Their nickname is the Rivers, as they come from the city’s northern side, which is basically a river delta.

Then the Eastern Region:
Uzhotu
Uzhotu is from the smallest of the four islands, and due to their Red and Yellow kit colors, they are nicknamed the Berries, as their three rivals (the other teams from the Eastern region) think of them as something edible. They play in Island Ground, and in a good year, they can manage to reach top 5.

Kangutsu
Kangutsu is the second-smallest of the four islands, and have Uzhotu as main rivals. However, all matches against the Eastern teams are considered derbies. Kangutsu play in Red and White, and are nicknamed the Schoolchildren, a remnant of their banters with the other teams. They play in the Bridge Center, which is a stadium that is partly built into the bridge that splits the city in two. They usually rank low.

Hogone
Hogone are the second-largest island, and one of the proudest teams in the league. Despite their 17th finish, their goal is top 10. They play in Red and Black, in the Comet Park. Due to the name of the stadium, their nickname is the Comets.

Sishinova
Sishinova is the largest of the four islands in the Eastern region, and home to Sishinova, playing in Ningabasa, Mill Arena. Playing in Red and Blue, they are the only team with this color combination. They are nicknamed the Tropics due to the climate of the island: the only part of Ko-oren that has a tropical climate. Despite their home advantage related to the climate, they ranked 19th out of 20 in the first season.

Lastly, the Western Region:
Maethoru
Maethoru is one of only two teams of West Ko-oren. They play in a full Green kit, therefore they are nicknamed the All Greens. They play in Cold Ground, a tongue-in-cheek reference to the region’s cold climate. Their stadium is located in Mayara, which almost lies in the Northern region. Still, it has all the typical temperatures of the West. Partly due to this home advantage, they ranked 1st in the first season!

Ajongka Region
Ajongka Region is the team that represents the largest part of the country, size-wise. They are a mixture of three state teams: Aj Uin, Ka Uin and Ong, all in West Ko-oren. They play in their regional color, Green, with White elements. They play in the coldest of all venues, but in their first season have not reaped the benefits of this: 15th.

The Thirty-Ninth Champions’ Cup
Preliminary Phase Draw

Image

Procedural notes
  • The request by Pasarga to enter the same teams as last season has been construed to include the Liga de Fuego’s entrants from Queer Poco el Mono Ara, though this was not explicitly stated.
  • Ad’ihan (ADN) has been renamed LAPFL Federation (LLF), (briefly) retaining its coëfficient.
  • The original draw for the Champions’ Cup champions’ path was invalidated due to the omission of clubs from Turori. The original draw for the Series B Champions’ Cup was invalidated due to the omission of clubs from Aguazul and Turori.
  • The ninety-nine clubs from sixty-five associations entered in this season’s Champions’ Cup is by far the most in the competition’s history.

Final site selection
Nine bids were received to host the thirty-ninth Champions’ Cup final; however, some of the bid books were lost among the reams and reams of entry forms, and the name of Kionao Minor Field (a candidate for the Series B Champions’ Cup final) was mistakenly printed on the initial ballot instead of Ad’ihan’s Bridge Road. Crisis was averted as the ballots were reprinted at the last minute.

QEP News, Informing the Nation since the Great Transition

A QEP Special

Phoenigetuzstha's Club Teams find their Opponents in their first UICA Matches

Just minutes ago, the draw for the Thirty Ninth edition of The Champions Cup and the draw for the Thirty Sixth Edition of the Series B Champions' Cup was made, with Phoenigetuzsthan teams set to make their UICA début tomorrow. The draw for the 36th Globe Cup is still set to be made, which will see Torpedo Okhtepes Oztenza, FC Zimbru Asisuus & Olympia Tyreebi pitted against teams from one of the sixty-four other associations in the UICA. Today's draw however saw AC Regia Artadates, Politehinca Tyreebi, Olimpia Bybliis, AZAL Opone and Ba'alikk Novi Xan drawn against their opponents.

AC Regia Artadates was drawn against Oldbridge City, from the newly formed Liventia–Ad’ihan Professional Football League, the Liventian and Ad'ihan governing bodies deciding to merge. When our QEP researches went to find information about this club, they found little, and after seconds scrolling the UICA Coefficients of last year, found nothing on the team. What they do know is that Oldbridge City won their domestic league by a slim margin of 2 points, playing 38 games in the process.

The SBCC qualifiers were drawn against the following:
- CD Parquisteres of Ossidiacqua (Drawn against AZAL Opone)
- Thackworth Rovers of Krytenia (Drawn against Ba’alikk Novi Xan)

Olimpia Bybliis and Politehnica Tyreebi also found out who they could potentially be facing:
- Olimpia Bybliis: Geyser Town Spurs of Michael VII OR Seaton FC Basel of Boring Paradise
- Politehnica Tyreebi: North Tyneside of Boring Paradise OR Pai Toletão de Oxalá of Capivara Group OR Mashriq Village of Michael VII

With these draws Phoenigetusthan football fans everywhere aren't optimistic. With it being their first season in the UICA, they clearly won't match the quality of most of the teams in the competitions, but a few draws here and there is all that they can hope for, to build up a stable coefficient to make qualification into the tournaments easier in the subsequent editions. We had a statement from AC Regia Artadates manager Karim Xan who said this:

"I believe that we have to hope for victory. We may be a long way off qualifying for any tournaments, but we must get past each obstacle as it comes. If we do what I think we can do, we may build up a small run, which will give us the start of a stable coefficient for years to come. I would also like to wish the 7 other teams from Phoenigetuzstha who are competing in the international tournaments the best of luck, because its imperative that we all get some coefficient points. That's all we need at this stage."

With that, we leave you, and wish all those in Phoenigetuzstha a goodnight.

Vegai Aslarxii se Fuborii Kaj’rii (Vegan Associatio of Football Clubs)

As the Dragon’s Cup comes to a close, it’s time for a closer look at just what took place in the VAFK this season and what might should be expected for the next edition.

Finally there was something other than Domestic pride to play for as the VAFK made the decision to stick it feet into international club footy. Add to that the creation of the Dragon’s Cup and the doors being thrown open for National and International talent to be signed, and the stakes have never been higher.

Image
Unse’keis Secondary Division (Dirisi Sehk’ur)

In the Unse’keis Secondary Division the alleged contenders flopped as four surprise clubs took control early and refused to let go of the Dragon’s Cup slots. Clubs like Sarii Falcione and FK Alariz are left to wonder just what happened while shockers Royan Sarud and Triarii Rivii gain promotion. Perhaps the biggest shock of the lower division was that the nondescript club Vega Dras gained enough points in the rankings to finish in the top 36 and thus gain promotion to the Primary Division despite their 6th place finish.

Image
Irijii Compar Primary Division (Dirisi Pela’tai)

Here again we were surprised as the favorites seemed to sputter while lesser clubs took full advantage of the chances given and moved to the top. We don’t really know what to expect as the Series B Championships play out, especially with these clubs, but it should be interesting.

Loire-Mourenx ran away with the Primary title and earned their promotion while a very surprising Jaris Sarud played tag-a-long. And with three sides we thought should have been near the top (Millsport FK, Tapia Reis, and Sa'una Vega) finding themselves sent down, we really do not know what to expect next season.

Image
Yumbo Jumbo Championship Division (Dirisi Ampi’un)

93 seasons and the VAF has only ever had one club at the top of the rankings - Errion Vega FK. On just six occasions have Errion Vega FK not won the Championship Division Title with all six others going to perennial runners-up Stonengarten UH.

Imagine the shock of everyone in the DSE as the last three season’s third place finisher, Vegai 4th Quad, took the division by storm and won it going away. Also in the same process they earned enough ranking points to edge past Errion Vega FK. So as 94th season prepares to begin, there is a new dog on top of the pile.

Dragon’s Cup

The first edition of the Dragon’s Cup was a huge success as the initail random draw insured the weakers clubs at least had a chance to win a match or two. Shocks and predictions came true as the excitement unfolded.

In the 1st round Triarii Rivii was shocked by Isla De Marte as Stonengarten UH put a beat down on Irildur Compar.

The Quarterfinals saw Stonengarten Sarud slide through as a surprising top 4 club. Errion Vega FK and Stonengarten UH renewed their rivalry as EVFK escaped 4-3 on aggregate.

The Semifinals saw Errion Vega FK bounce Vegai 4th as revenge for the way the Championship Division and the rankings played out. The pair of matches between Stonengarten Sarud and FK Kelsey was a goal fest which finished 6-5 on aggregate for the southernmost club in the VAFK.

In the Championship |Errion Vega took the first match 1- nil and looked poised to lift the Cup. But it was FK Kelsey that surprised everyone by taking the second leg and the Cup with a massive 4-1 beat down of the most dominant club in history.

Could all of this mean an end to the domination of Errion Vega FK? Next season we will begin to get our answer.

Globe Cup final stadium:

Although there weren't many options sent for the organizers to decide, once again they were caught by complete indecision, and for an entire week none of them took the initiative to give a decision representing the entire group. However, on one night a very superstitious director of the Globe Cup dreamt of one of the stadiums, or at least of something that resembled the stadium, as his recalling of the dream was unclear. Considering it to be a signal, and under menace of his spiritual advisor, this director convinced the others to take the dream as the main thing in consideration in choosing the stadium, and then this venue was seen as the chosen one. Therefore, the final will be in the Bastion Arena, in Bastion, FSSO (cap. 98,000).

Gordonopian Premier League
2012 Season - Weeks 1-10 Official Wrap Up

A new Gordonopia has brought a rebirth for football. For the first time since the end of the War of Restoration, United Gordonopia's top teams have an organized league to play in: the Gordonopia Premier League (GPL). With the first ten matchdays now behind us, it's time for a bit of reflection.

To begin with, the new league format has been met so far with considerable praise. The most obvious changes over the now defunct Gordonopian Football Association are the addition of a seventeenth team to the league, the elimination of region-based divisions, the lengthening of the schedule and the threat of relegation to one of the Empire's lower leagues.

Joining the 16 teams teams from the former GFA this year is München SV. A consistent second-league powerhouse from the Capitol Metro Area's second city, München SV has shown itself to be, if not a standout, at least a team capable of holding its own. After losing six of its first seven games, the team has managed to chock up a win and two ties in the past three weeks, including a nail-biting 1-1 draw against second place Gordonopia FC.

The lengthening of the schedule has brought advantages to everyone. Gordonopia's rabid fans can now enjoy 34 weeks of football, rather than the 18 that took place under the GFA. Players and coaches have complimented the byes that have been implemented due to the switch to an odd number of teams, coupled with an extended schedule. Even team owners are happy that the increased schedule has brought increased revenue, as average attendance and television per game has remained consistent with GFA numbers despite the greatly increased schedule.

The one change that has brought the most controversy has been the implementation of relegation. Inspired by the meritocratic ideals espoused by the post-war regime, the system will allow successful teams from lower leagues to replace stagnant ones in the GPL. Following the regular season, the lowest team in the standings will be relegated to a yet to the second tier league in their geographic area. At the same time, the winners of the Empire's eight second tier leagues will play in a single elimination tournament. The winner will take the spot of the seventeenth team, while the runner-up will play the GPL's 16th ranked team to determine which will play in the GPL the next year. Although most have praised the system, fans and owners of some of the league's perennial low-placing teams have voiced some criticism.

Moving past the changes, the results of the first ten weeks have brought some major surprises. Most obviously, Plains has played excellently to earn a spot at the top of the standings, despite having already had a bye week. The team, so far undefeated, has managed to win seven out of its nine games, and has a positive goal spread of 11, the highest in the league. Although it only finished 11th in the final season of the GFL, Plains is already seeming like a major contender for the cup. Its success can be attributed, it seems, to the excellent balance that the team has so far maintained among its men on the field. Every starting midfielder and forward has managed at least two assists towards the team's 21 goals, while the best scorer, forward Duncan Lang, 24, has managed only five goals. Three more players have earned four goals a piece, while the remaining four goals have each been scored by a different player.

On a different note, the race for Golden Boot and Golden Glove has remained surprisingly tight. Over the ten games thus far, two strikers have managed ten goals, but there are a further four more who have earned nine. Meanwhile, only the goalie of Fusba United, Derrick Schmidt, has managed to keep his goals per game less than one, though defensive powerhouse FC Deska's veteran, Ludwig Strauss, along with FC Gordonopia City's Erich Langerhans have kept their averages down to an even one. It should be noted, though, that the league is implementing a voting system this year for the two prestigious awards. This will replace the stats based system with a vote composed of the league's head coaches, several notable sportswriters, a collection of league officials, and a handful of other voters.

As league play continues, who knows how this inaugural season for the Gordonopia Premier League will play out. Will Plains, the underdog, continue with its miracle run? Will Gordonopia FC, the perennial contender, make a strike from second place? Will another team entirely emerge as the favorite for the Gordonopia Cup? Only time will tell.

Gordonopian Premier League
2012 Season - Weeks 11-20 Official Wrap Up

What a difference ten weeks can make. Just ten weeks ago, Plains was on a hot streak, having lost not a single one of their first nine games, all while winning seven of them. Now, the boys from the prairie have slowed just enough to allow Reichsburg FC to pass them up by goal differential. Reichsburg, which is on a 5-1-0 unbeaten streak, hasn't lead the national standings since 1999, when they won their last domestic championship.

Even more stunning than Reichsburg's surge, though, is how compact the standings are. Although Reichsburg and Plains lead the table with 35 points each, three more teams are within a single victory from the top. FC Deska, with 33, is in third, while the Kjeldor Knights and Kaje Football have 32, and are separated by only a single goal difference point.

Although this tooth and nail fight for the top is certainly fascinating, many are watching the fight just below even more intently. Under the new league system, the top eight teams at the conclusion of the season will be entered in the Gordonopia Cup, to determine the national champion. The fight for the all-important eight place spot, though, runs deep into the standings; Sixth place Fusba United and thirteenth place Zuzelt Steel are separated by a mere four points, at 28 and 24 respectively, while Zuzelt Steel falls short of eighth place Gordonopia FC by only two. With this many teams in contention for the post-season, the only obvious outlier is Al-Kharid, who, with 9 points and a whopping 13 losses, is 11 points shy of pulling out of the automatic relegation spot.

On the individual player awards end, several frontrunners seem to be emerging. FC Deska's Ludwig Strauss, the only Gordonopian goalie with World Cup experience, has helped to give his team a huge +15 goal difference thanks to his six clean sheets, and only 16 goals scored against him. If Strauss can keep this performance up, he will likely be a clear choice for the Golden Glove.

On the offensive end, three strikers seem to be at the top of the running. Reichsburg FC's Daniel Knight has managed to score 16 goals thus far, while earning a further five assists. Meanwhile, Carl Bohnhoffer of Teva FC has 15 goals with seven assists to his name. Finally, Kaje Football's Jere Tobias has chocked up nine assists, the highest in the league, to complement his 12 goals.

With only 14 matchdays remaining, the race for the playoffs is heating up.

National Youth League & International Cup Summary

With the end of season 1 of the new Youth League, it is apparent that national champions Maethoru may have a stunning current team, there is a lot of work to do on the U20 team. Maethoru U20 seized 14th place in the 16-team league. Although the 1st and 16th are only 20 points apart, Maethoru U20 did not field a team that comes close to their first team.

On a positive note, Othushun State U20 won the league! With 50 points, only 1 ahead of both Sishinova Cities U20 and Midnorth U20, they showed consistency with the least amount of losses of any team (though sharing that feat with two other teams). Midnorth, in third place, won most matches: 15. That's half of all matches, which goes to show how close the teams were together. Ko-oren & Kthosl U20, the shared youth team of any team in Kthosl State, got in fourth place, and Northeast U20 (Vnoskjulung State and Rabth State) got in fifth. Overall, Northern teams did very, very well (1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th), Eastern teams were divided over the ranking (2nd, 6th, 11th), Southern teams have a lot of work (10th, 13th, 15th and 16th), and Western teams show that they have plenty of potential for such a dispopulated region (7th, 12th, 14th), and one Northern and Western team (IlijuMayaraAlara U20) got in 8th.

Top scoring teams wree Sishinova Cities U20 in 2nd and Mayara U20 in 7th, the best defenses were in Ko-oren & Kthosl U20 (20 conceded!), which immediately gave this team the best goal difference.

Your test scores indicate that you are an open-minded progressive; this is the political profile one might associate with a journalist. It appears that you are skeptical towards religion, and have a generally optimistic attitude towards humanity in general.
Your attitudes towards economics appear communist, and combined with your social attitudes this creates the picture of someone who would generally be described as a humanist.
To round out the picture you appear to be, political preference aside, a sensible realistic egalitarian with several strong convictions.

Kuppi Yhtenäisyyttä

The SBFF is delighted to present the first ever Kuppi Yhtenäisyyttä, the 16-team knockout competition that will decide 2 of the final 3 international qualifiers from the bordering nations of Svendogardd and Baltskandio.
Svendogarddi clubs will certainly be more ambitious in the Kuppi, as in addition to the SBFF's Cygnus Cup spot, the best-placed Svendogarddi club is awarded the nation's final Globe Cup spot. For Baltskandio, only the Cygnus Cup berth is at stake, but it is sure to be an exciting tournament nevertheless.

The Kuppi Yhtenäisyyttä, of "Cup of Unity", in keeping with the unity and comradeship between the 2 Rushmori nations, will be a simple 16-team knockout format, each round, including the final, played over 2 legs. Really, the only complications of the Kuppi Yhtenäisyyttä is the matching up of teams. For the first round, in which 16 teams would compete, the teams were divided into 4 pots, each based on league performance. The 4 best Svendogarddi Clubs, the 4 Best Baltskandian clubs, the 4 worst Svendogarddi Clubs, and the 4 Worst Baltskandian Clubs were each placed into different pots. The Teams in pot A (Top Svendogarddi Clubs), and Pot D (Worst Baltskandian clubs), were drawn at random against each other. The same was done for Pots B and C, ensuring that the Best Baltskandian clubs faced off against the worst Svendogarddi Clubs. The Pots and First Round Draw are Below:

Gordonopia Premier League
2012 Season - Weeks 20-30 Official Wrap Up

With only four matchdays left in the regular season, the GPL is certainly heating up. Since the last official wrap up, Plains has managed to reclaim the top spot on the table by a comfortable five points, and with one less game played than second place Gordonopia FC. Further down the table, though, there is an all out war to make the cutoffs for the playoffs.

Currently in eight is the Kjeldor Knights, the highest ranked team with a negative goal difference. Only two points back, though, are both Teva FC and Latimere United. Even teams like München SV, ten weeks ago near the bottom of the table, have the potential to make the cutoffs. Since the last wrap up, München SV has gone 5-1-4, a significant improvement over their 5-5-8 finish from their first 18 games. As teams play their final three to four matches, the Empire will be watching with its breath held tight to see which teams will advance.

At the bottom, the contenders for the dishonor of relegation are emerging. Al-Kharid seems to still be the favorite at six points short of 16th place, but the team is 4-3-3 in their last ten matches, a huge improvement from the start of the season, and a massive 6-2 victory over Tolven two weeks ago has given fans in the south hope that there is still a chance to escape automatic demotion to a lower league. Speaking of Tolven, though, the boys from Gordonopia's second port have won only one of their last eleven matches, and at 30 points, is certainly in danger of a play-in to stay in the league, if not automatic relegation. Meanwhile, Zuzelt Steel is only one point ahead of Tolven, and seven ahead of Al-Kharid, but only has three matches remaining, compared to the latter two's four remaining contests.

In our last wrap up, we stated that FC Deska's Ludwig Strauss appeared to be the best candidate for the Golden Glove, and as the final weeks begin, that is seems ever more likely. Strauss, a veteran tender who holds Gordonopia's only three World Cup clean sheets, has 11 clean sheets to his name this season, and has kept the total number of goals against his team down to 22, the best in the league by half a dozen.

Meanwhile, the frontrunners for the Golden Boot have shifted a bit. Daniel Knight, Reichsburg FC's leading striker, has been supplanted by Jonathon Odell of Gordonopia FC, who skyrocketed from third to first on the goal leaders list with 23 goals this season, complimented by five assists. Jere Tobias, Kaje Football, has stayed consistent with a sizable 12 assists and 18 goals, making him the only player with double digits for both stats. To round out the offensive leaders, Plains' Dominique Mann has managed a strong all around performance with 20 goals and seven assists.

As the race to the postseason reaches the final stretch, it's any teams game. Who will make the cut?

Message to all Vegai Clubs participating in international competitions: Go Forth and Conquer!… Roll Over and Play Dead

Let’s face it. We knew going in that any success in these first ever international endeavors would be hard-won and fleeting. Our clubs have never faced off against such competition and have even had the handicap that national players were not allowed to play in ASMV domestically until after these clubs were sent out to be crushed. And boy have they gotten crushed for the most part. Let’s take a look…

Champion’s Cup - Preliminary Rounds
(AMV) Vegai 4th Quad 4–5 Chapeleta de Desportos (CPV) 0–1 4–4

In the Champion’s Cup, VAFK Champion Vegai 4th Quad showed resilience after falling 0-1 at home to Capivara Group’s Chapeleta de Desportos by making a score fest of the away leg. In the end they fell just one goal shy of moving on.

Series B Champion’s Cup - Preliminary Rounds
(AMV) Isla De Marte 2–6 Wurlington Dynamos (FAL) 1–3 1–3
(ZRB) Union 9–3 Stonengarten Sarud (AMV) 4–2 5–1
(HLO) Newland FC 2–4 Jaris Sarud (AMV) 1–1 1–3
(AMV) Loire-Mourenx 6–5 Bristol Rovers (MAP) 3–1 3–4 (aet)
(CAW) Northmont Nauticals 5–1 Jaris Sarud (AMV) 2–0 3–1

Playoff Round
(AMV) Loire-Mourenx 0–2 Falourr (SSO) 0–2 0–0

In the Series B Champion’s Cup Isla De Marte trounced by Wirlington Dynamos of Falconfar while Stonengarten Sarus was unceremoniously bounce by Union of Zarbli 9-3.Jaris Sarud surprised a lot of people by stopping Newland FC of Homelands our before crashing 1-5 against Northmont Nauticals of Camwood. Loire-Mourenx won a goal fest over Bristol Rovers of Mapletish. Unfortunately they fell to Falourr of the SSO 0-2.

Globe Cup - Playoff Access Stage
(AMV) FK Kelsey 2–3 Athletic Glasgow (SSB) 2–2 0–1
(AMV) Stonengarten UH 2–4 Minelmeni Tigers (CRM) 0–2 2–2

Prelimainary Stage
(ICM) Old Haven 3–1 Vegai 4th Quad (AMV) 1–1 2–0
(AMV) Errion Vega FK a 2–2 Revolutionaries (SSO) 0–0 2–2

Errion Vega FK (AMV) x Heidelstadt Falken (JSY)

In the Globe Cup, Stonengarten UH and FK else were bounced early by Minelmeni Tigers of Carmadin and Athletic Glasgow of South Scotland and the Borders. Vegai 4th Quad fell short 1-3 against Old Haven of The Icemark. Errion Vega FK advanced on away goals over Revolutionaries of the SSO. As a reward they must face Heidelstadt Falken of Jasĭyun and that should be the end of things for now.

In other news Carrington FK announces that it has agreed to terms with Lazio Johansen formerly of FC Axel Heiburg (Polar Islandstates). The young Left Middie should shore up a major hole for the club as it seeks a return to its former glory. Number 22 jerseys are already flying off the shelf - and he hasn’t even landed in Carrington yet, To say the fans are stoked would be a severe understatement.

In a more shocking announcement, Meldinburgh UH has announced the addition of All-World Keeper Mathias Marek of Polar Islandstates. The move comes as a surprise in two ways. Firstly, the club has never spent money on key players and rather chooses to develop talent from within. Secondly, Marek has received nothing but shit from his home fans and media following the Terns being sent home from World Cup 59 by the Sea Dragons. Many of his fans see him coming to play in ASMV as near treason while he sees this as an opportunity to get back at Vegai players by beating them on their own turf.

Piossa Juhinx has also tapped Polar Islandstates in the form of 17 year old Ludvig Ramberg. The young Centre Back should provide stability in the middle of the defense for years to come

Gordonopia Premier League
2012 Season - Weeks 31-34 Official Wrap Up

The inaugural season of the Gordonopia Premier League has come to a close, and as teams prepare for the post-season, or relegation, it is safe to say that the final four weeks have been some of the most thrilling so far.

Most exciting of all was FC Deska's monumental ascension to the top of the table, surmounting Gordonopia FC and Plains in the final week. Four weeks ago, the perennial defensive powerhouse was third, and eight points back from the leader, Plains. Thanks to an incredible effort that included winning the final four games, one of them a one-nil victory over Plains, and a mere two goals against, both in frenzied a 4-2 victory over Teva FC, FC Deska managed to beat the leader by a single point.

Speaking of Plains, the table leader for most of the season seemed to have a breakdown in the final weeks. Out of the final four games, the boys from the prairie racked up four loses, and managed to hold on to second place thanks only to a 1-0 victory over Latimere United in the final match. Hopefully, Plains will be able to rediscover the momentum that brought them such an incredible season before the Gordonopia Cup begins.

On the other end of the qualifying spectrum, the teams in the bottom qualifying spots four weeks ago managed to hold on thanks only to a crushing draw. Teva FC fell a single point short of the top eight due to a last minute 1-1 draw with Union Holiday. Teva came out strong, knowing that the game was their final chance to advance to the post season, and managed to score in the 13th minute. Further attempts to score were fruitless, however, and just when victory seemed within reach, Union Holiday brought out the equalizing goal thanks to a magnificent shot from twenty-five meters out, three minutes into stoppage.

Meanwhile, Al-Kharid's quest to escape automatic relegation ended successfully, and at the expense of Tolven, following a 1-0 victory over Zuzelt Steel in the final game of the season. Al-Kharid had previously remained mired in the bottom spot of the table for virtually the entire season. After going 3-0-1 in the final four weeks, though, they managed to edge out Tolven by a goal difference of 2, both teams having earned 33 points. This next season will see Tolven relegated to the Northern Mountain Regional League on the second level of the pyramid. Al-Kharid will still have to play a match against the winner of the Inter-League Cup, a tournament contested by the winners of Gordonopia's eight second-tier leagues.

On the individual end, the winners of the two player awards have been announced:

Golden Boot - Jere Tobias, 22, Kaje Footbal - As one of the top forwards in every offensive stat imaginable, Jere Tobias' selection for the Golden Boot is no shocker. With a grand total of 20 goals and 14 assists, Tobias managed third overall in goals, and first in assists. Adding on to this, he was also ranked fourteenth in the league for passing. As his career advances, this young player's talent and cool head (he received only one yellow card this season) will surely make him one of Gordonopia's premier forwards for years to come.

Golden Glove - Ludwig Strauss, 36, FC Deska - FC Deska's veteran tender, Ludwig Strauss, has convincingly earned the GPA's top honor for a goalie. With 14 clean sheets this season, and a mere 24 goals against him, Strauss is one of the largest reasons why a team that scored fewer goals than all but two playoff qualifiers managed to top the league table. Pre-season doubts about Strauss' age evaporated the moment he earned his first clean sheet in game one against Fusba United, and his goaltending only improved as the season went on. Although his age may yet catch up to him, this season is certainly a resounding statement that Strauss remains the best choice, just as he was in Gordonopia's only previous World Cup, for starting goalie of the national team.

52a Futbala Ĉampionado de Babaĝoj

League Overview

After a period of turmoil in domestic Babbage football, a new league claims pride of place in the islands. The FFB Premier League is consigned to history, as is the concept of relegation. Instead, fourteen clubs now have permanent berths in the first division, renamed Futbala Ĉampionado de Babaĝoj (Esperanto for Football Championship of The Babbage Islands).

FĈB Champions

49 Greenville Rovers
50 Viktoria Baden
51 Great Falls Cymru
52 ???

Below is a look at the fourteen clubs as they enter the 52nd national professional football championship.

BELGIUM FC
City: Belgium, Daimler (79,923).
Stadium: Memorial Park (42,357).
Championships: Seven; 30, 31, 32, 33, 37, 38, 48.
Cups: Five; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 26.
Main Sponsor: Owners Chip and Kirsten Woods.
Manager: Arna-Maggra o Wirrenne (Bears Armed).
Colours: Orange, green, white.
Nickname(s): Orange, The Crew.
TBI Internationals: Sweeper Nancy Svoboda (108 caps), midfielder Fang Wuying (4), striker Courtney Keisler (15), defender Mckenzie Davidson (1).
Foreign Players: Keeper Marra o Mara*, forward Harroya o SarnDale*, defender Summarra SilverBear*, midfielder Ruth Silberstein* and winger Hirra Swiftly* (all Bears Armed), defender Samantha O'Keefe (Cassadaigua), centre back Beverly Sandoval (Sportgirls).
Last Season: 2nd.
Prediction: Champions. But the possibility of Nancy Svoboda leaving after this season and the increasing confidence of their rivals at Cymru both hang over this talented side.

BLOOMFIELD NATIONAL
City: Bloomfield, Verne (122,651).
Stadium: Callahan & Babcock Arena (39,275).
Championships: Five; 25, 26, 39, 42, 47.
Cups: Four; thrice runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 96.
Main Sponsor: Callahan & Babcock (retail).
Manager: Orson Cook.
Colours: Royal blue, white.
Nickname(s): National, Eagles.
TBI Internationals: Keeper Jerome Patterson (24), forward Kristine Lindquist (31), defender Sam Kelly (1), striker Sierra Hall (1).
Foreign Players: Defender Lita Jaramillo (Aguazul).
Last Season: 5th.
Prediction: 6th. Lita Jaramillo is a huge addition. But Lindquist and Patterson are on the long side of 35. Two young names to watch are forward Vigdís Stefánsdóttir and defender Mattis Huber. National are back to the Globe Cup and will be in the fight to stay there.

CELTIC-SOUTHLAND
City: Wye, South Island (1,012,871).
Stadium: Unity Park (53,712).
Championships: One (by Southland); 7.
Cups: None.
Main Sponsor: ClearCola (soda manufacturer).
Peak UICA rank: 207 (by Celtic).
Manager: Anselmo Velásquez.
Colours: Maroon, gold.
Nickname(s): Maroon.
TBI Internationals: Defender Théophile Chagnon (9), keeper Jennifer Faust (3), defender Gong Weishang (1).
Foreign Players: Striker Nadya Dostoevich and attacking midfielder Ivan Dostoevich (both Yesopalitha).
Last Season: 6th.
Prediction: 8th. A solid mid-pack squad with two promising foreign acquisitions in the Dostoevichs.

DOVER CITY
City: Dover, Cayley (277,219).
Stadium: Whitecliff Stadium (56,400). Hosted the World Cup 54 final.
Championships: Eight; 1, 2, 4, 8, 10, 22, 27, 34.
Cups: Four; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 92.

TBI Internationals: Striker Glen Svoboda (107), striker Jennifer Stevens (20), striker Genaro Girón Alvarado (4).
Foreign Players: Defender Onyemere Chinwema (Zenega).
Last Season: 3rd.
Prediction: 4th. Glen Svoboda is home, giving City an embarrassment of riches up front. The midfield needs a boost to stay in the UICA battle.

FAR POINT ISLANDERS
City: Far Point, North Island (209,131).
Stadium: Centennial Stadium (26,900).
Championships: Four; 6, 9, 12, 14.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: N/A
Main Sponsor: Amber Wave Foods (food processing).
Manager: Steve Isaacson.
Colours: Columbia blue, navy blue, white.
Nickname(s): Islanders.
TBI Internationals: Defender Ósk Jakobsdóttir (5), defender Joey Baldwin (15).
Foreign Players: Keeper Kenneth Nolder (Filopines), forward Ashley Barrett (Cassadaigua).
Last Season: 10th.
Prediction: 7th. Islanders arguably had the best long-range luck in the foreign market with the signing of Barrett and Nolder, both under 20 and established for their countries. Baldwin has now started a World Cup final at 21. This club is a couple of seasons away from powerhouse if all goes well.

FOUR TOWERS
City: Gernsback, Tesla (727,143).
Stadium: The Great Dome (61,522). Hosted the TakilQuip Champion's Cup 23 final and the World Cup 49 third place match.

Nickname(s): Engineers, Watchmen.
TBI Internationals: Midfielder Taylor Chapman (20), defender Kaylee Nelson (19), striker Sydney Allan (5).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Megan McCarter (Cassadaigua).
Last Season: 11th.
Prediction: 11th. But the wildcard here is McCarter, ten years younger than the veteran Chapman and poised to take up leadership.

GREAT FALLS CYMRU
City: Great Falls, North Island (98,154).
Stadium: Maes Cymreig (26,722).
Championships: Three; 43, 44, 51.
Cups: One.
Peak UICA rank: 76.

Manager: Isaac Buffington.
Colours: Red, green, white.
Nickname(s): Dragons, Cymru.
TBI Internationals: Centre back Saturnino Valle Barajas (57), defender Þór Finnsson (22), defender David Johnson (15).
Foreign Players: Forwards Rowan Finch*, Urrsa A’Bearh*, and Marra Crombeyand* (all Bears Armed); attacking midfielder Ella Rasmussen (Baltskandio).
Last Season: Champions.
Prediction: 2nd. Cymru and Belgium are still the class of the FĈB, and Saturnino and Rasmussen are still the class of a very dangerous eleven. Don't underestimate the contributions of Buffington as manager, either.

FC GREEN STAR
City: Zamenhofa Urbo, South Island, a suburb of the capital Charleston (298,200).
Stadium: Kupolo Zamenhofa (48,115).
Championships: Two; 17, 18.
Cups: Two; twice runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: N/A
Main Sponsor: Senfinaj Mondoj Korp. (network technology).

Nickname(s): Dreamers.
TBI Internationals: Midfielder Matthew Bradford (6), defender Allison Parry (3).
Foreign Players: Winger Valgarður Ómarsson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 13th.
Prediction: 13th. A beautiful new stadium does not a contender make. Also see: Parisian.

GREENVILLE ROVERS
City: Greenville, North Island (18,590).
Stadium: Rovers Park (21,000).
Championships: Three; 28, 29, 49.
Cups: Three; four times runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 114.
Main Sponsor: Fresh-Fizz (soda manufacturer).
Manager: Veronika Hennicke.
Colours: Forest green, tan.
Nickname(s): Rovers, Woodsmen.
TBI Internationals: Sweeper Ethan Powell (24), striker Bernd Kroymann (13), keeper Gregorio Solís (6).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Celia Rimoldi (Aguazul).
Last Season: 8th.
Prediction: 5th. They'll be back in the fight for the last Globe Cup spot after a campaign slightly off-form. Celia Rimoldi reminds many observers of Veronika Hennicke in her playing days, and this player-manager partnership could be made in heaven for Rovers.

OGC NANCY
City: Nancy, Verne (101,561).
Stadium: Sojourners Stadium (30,730).
Championships: Two; 35, 36.
Cups: Two; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 95.
Main Sponsor: Tesla Motors (automobiles).
Manager: Christopher Mathews (Mangolana).
Colours: Scarlet, gold.
Nickname(s): Scarlet Army.
TBI Internationals: Defender Eva Glemnitz (54), winger Kaitlyn Clarke (5), defender Teresa Owen (2).
Foreign Players: Midfielder Allen Fuller (Mangolana).
Last Season: 12th.
Prediction: 12th. The Mangolana double-acquisition is the first of several steps the Scarlet Army need for a return to glory days of yore.

PARISIAN
City: Paris, Verne (468,925).
Stadium: Ijak-Nash Stadium (71,717).
Championships: Five; 3, 19, 20, 21, 46.
Cups: None; twice runner-up.
Main Sponsor: Security Group (insurance).
Peak UICA rank: 243.
Manager: Gaspard Garnier.
Colours: Brown, gold, white.
Nickname(s): Gendarmes.
TBI Internationals: Midfielder Ding Bangtao (3), striker Ingi Einarsson (7).
Foreign Players: Keeper Mark Pengilly, fullback Wolvela Landreth (both Seven Wonders).
Last Season: 14th.
Prediction: 14th. See: FC Green Star. But watching Parisian play will be a joy for visitors, enjoying a veritable palace of football in the course of grabbing their away win. Ingi and Landreth in particular both deserve better.

UMFK
City: Kopavogur, Gibson (163,957).
Stadium: Duck Pond (27,373).
Championships: None.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 204.
Main Sponsor: Edda House (publisher).
Manager: Hákon Runólfsson.
Colours: Blood red, white.
Nickname(s): Vikings, Norse.
TBI Internationals: Defender Ava Gillespie (4), defender Ciriaco Jurado Gracia (13), defender Shao Dianying (7).
Foreign Players: Winger Amadi Nwebube (Zenega), fullback Vagn Heiðarsson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 9th.
Prediction: 10th. UMFK have a bit of a surplus in back and could usefully swap a capped defender, possibly the 25-year-old Gillespie, for a proven striker to ignite the offence. Jurado cemented his standing in the public eye with the Bumblebees' run to the World Cup final.

VIKTORIA BADEN
City: Baden, Daimler (393,949).
Stadium: Badenstadion (50,007).
Championships: Four; 13, 15, 45, 50.
Cups: One; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 154.
Main Sponsor: Benz-Motorwagen (automobiles).
Manager: Alexander Baumann.
Colours: Black, old gold, cream.
Nickname(s): Ironmen.
TBI Internationals: Keeper Mathias Wiedergott (11), attacking midfielder Joachim Erhardt (20), wingback Chloe Packer (10).
Foreign Players: Winger Björn Skjaldarson (Harjeland).
Last Season: 4th.
Prediction: 3rd. The "best of the rest" once past Belgium and Cymru. Erhardt is a solid field general that could use a better front line to lead.

ZARAHEMLA ALL-SPORT
City: Zarahemla, South Island (50,109), a suburb of port city Three Rivers,
Stadium: Celestial Stadium (29,295).
Championships: Two; 40, 41.
Cups: Three; once runner-up.
Peak UICA rank: 94.
Main Sponsor: One Big Airline (transportation).
Manager: Jésus Vasquez (Sargossa).
Colours: Purple, white.
Nickname(s): Royals, Stripling Warriors.
TBI Internationals: Defensive midfielder Oddi Ísleifsson (16).
Foreign Players: Centre back Kiril Akhmetbekov (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu), attacking midfielder Amy Robertson (Sportgirls).
Last Season: 7th.
Prediction: 9th. Is Amy Robertson the next Claire van de Graaf? Can Jésus Vazquez find redemption in restoring a one-time power club to glory? All-Sport is a team of questions. This season will be one of finding answers.

Islands Cup XXXVIII

After three years of turmoil and league re-organizations, the Islands Cup has been resurrected as an end-of-season competition. The top four teams in the FĈB and the champion of each Regional League form an eight-team field and play three knockout rounds of single-leg matches to determine a winner. Pairings are by lot save that no team may play at home in any match except the final.

Seven stadiums are used for the Islands Cup in rotation. Purple Palace in Windsor hosts Islands Cup XXXVIII. The semifinal sites are Capital Stadium in Charleston (hosting XXXIX) and Memorial Park in Belgium (XL). The quarterfinal sites are Whitecliff Stadium in Dover (XLI), The U.F.O. in Cardston (XLII), The Great Dome in Gernsback (XLIII), and Callahan & Babcock Arena in Bloomfield. Ijak-Nash Stadium in Paris will host Islands Cup XLIV, and will replace the Bloomfield site in the rotation in the near future.

Quarterfinals:
Bloomfield National 2–1 Guardians FC in Dover
FK Maribor 1–4 FC Green Star in Cardston
Hooligans 0–1 Great Falls Cymru in Gernsback
Belgium FC 0–1 Marines Club in Bloomfield

Semifinals:
Bloomfield National 2–3 FC Green Star in Charleston
Great Falls Cymru 3–0 Marines Club in Belgium

Islands Cup XXXVIII Final:
FC Green Star 3–2 Great Falls Cymru in Windsor
