Things to know:

• This is a test. It's possible the server will spectacularly implode under the load, in which case we'll probably have to abandon the idea and stick with Jolt.
• Once you visit the new forum while logged in as a nation, the sidebar's "Latest Threads" will show you topics in the new forum, not the old one. (To visit the old forum, use the "Jolt Forum" sidebar link.)
• The Jolt forum isn't going anywhere. Even if our new forum survives this load test, the old one will remain, and you can move between the two as you wish.

Hosting our own forum will give us a lot of flexibility, but for now we're just trying to figure out whether it's viable! If we get through the load test, we'll look more at tweaking the cosmetics and features.

If I may hazard a guess, probably we'll be still be able the read this forum (but not post) and transfer the posts manually. As for automatic transfer, it's neither possible (to my best knowledge), nor would be allowed by OMAC anyway.

I didnt use jolt at all, but I think I'll use this one a lot. I hope it takes off indeed, I like the idea of NS having its own forum.

I couldn't post on Jolt with this nation, due to tech glitches. It's great having a forum that I don't have to worry about that. Plus, this seems more NSy than Jolt did. The only downside is that my Jolt-active nation will lose its post count.

Just one question: Why? Why do this when we already have a perfectly useful and thriving forum hosted by Jolt? There doesn't seem to be any fucking point to this. Now we'll have two forums to frequent for the same damned thing and with the same damned sub-forums. Why? Are the powers that be hoping to break away from Jolt in the future? Seriously, one good reason for two forums for the same site that don't back one another up.

This response from Reploid Productions in another thread pretty much sums up the reasons:

Pretty much managerial issues. And since NS is no longer hosted on Jolt's servers, we'd like to get our own first-party forum up and running. Y'know, one that actually works with the game? Jolt's done all of squat to try and resolve the email verification issues several NS users have had.

The word from the Powers That Be is that this forum is intended to more tightly integrate with the game, hence the NS sidebar, you flag as your avatar, and stuff like that. Stuff we can't do with Jolt.
