The year was 2014. The Union was on the verge of collapse. For what reasons, or how, not a single American knew, but all were in agreement that the power of the once-mighty federal government was gradually being surpassed by that of various regional confederacies which were springing up as quickly as outlets of fast food chains and seemed to be rising from the middle of nowhere. President Obama, as in the dark as to why such a sudden change in America's political climate had occurred as the rest of the populace and under heavy pressure from Congress to respond, approved the deployment of an occupational force to an unrecognized coalition formed by North and South Carolina. The force was repelled, Carolina declared itself to be an independent nation, and politicians from coast to coast began to debate on whether their regions would follow in Carolina's footsteps.
The year is 2015. The States of America are United no more, and the once-mighty federal republic has been replaced by several smaller unions formed by neighboring states. Each new nation will be forced to adapt to the tumultuous times or fail as its predecessor did. Some may embark on a mission to take advantage of the chaos in the air of the fractured superpower by waging war on its former brothers, while others might opt to build diplomatic relations with the independent countries which have risen from the ashes of the United States. As the leaders of your own group of states, it will be up to you to decide what will happen in a new, shattered America.
