Compulsory military service means everyone is a soldier. We have an extremely tough and infamous boot camp, but this means they have top-quality military training that means they're at least up to the standards of professional soldiers from other nations. We equip them with AR210s (Assault Rifle 210s, produced by Strangers' very own military technology institute-factory SMTI) and a handy bayonet, but soldiers are allowed to bring in their own weapons which has resulted in a large variety of weapons (the most common ones brought in include SSG69s and AR-15s).

Unless one has a medical problem, one is also required to take a specialisation e.g. Field Engineers, Artillery. Some of those in MS (military service) enter the Navy and Air Force but by far the Navy and Air Force are dominated by regulars. Commissioned Officers and Special Forces are also chosen only from the ranks of the regulars, but Non-Commissioned Officers are all chosen only from the ranks of the MS.

Strangers' recent bloody civil war involved many citizens, so most own firearms and regularly practice. Being a regular is also viewed as an honourable occupation.
