OOC THREAD

The Land of Asbekistan
Image

Rockets cut threw the air, a plume of smoke following each before it disappeared over the horizon. Red-dressed militia streamed over the wooded hill over the thinly manned Caminar Garrison. Sporadic fire clipped some of sovjet soldiers, heavy machine-guns cutting down vast rows of the vanguard. Another barrage of rocket missiles went flying, exploding in the middle of the camp as the defenders began to muster. The timing was perfect, seventy percent of the garrison was wiped out in that moment. The socialist T-90 tank brigade, the premier unit composed of the free Tropicarnon-manufactured machines given to the soviet recently.

The few guards fighting since the beginning of the battle soon surrendered. The neighbouring village was captured, but a boy was able to relay information of the attack to Prince Santos. He called for fourteen thousand men, their Hobo allies and raised the twenty thousand full-time soldiers they had been able to maintain. Little did he know the enormity of the coming red tide, or its support.

" Cardinal Valance. The soviets have attacked Lesser Asbekistan, and the Principality has called for our assistance." A messenger said, rushing into the newly built Citadel.
" How are the preparations for the Op: Tears going? It seems that we'll need to use it much sooner than I anticipated." Cardinal Valance asked.
" We have 15 Toms at the seaside airstrip, the F15L's that Cardinal Weinhoff left us, and approximately 50,000 Foreign Legionaires, the weapons factory is churning out almost 200 rifles per day, but we're still mostly dependent on the shipments from the Republic to continue arming at the rate we are, of the 250,000 eligible adults only 100,000 are ready for combat. we have 16% of the transports we need to complete the op." her Assistant, Jeeves said.
" We have to send assistance, but our preparations are incomplete, how many HRAF and Domestic legion did you say we had a week ago?" She asked frustratedly.
" We have 3,000 HRAF and 6,000 Legionaires, we'll need at least 2,000 to help the civilians hold the wall. " Jeeves reported.
" Rally up 20,000 volunteers to send them. Santos knew this would happen. And have the anti-tank equipment freed from lockup. We'll go in with what we have as soon as we've confirmed their location, we'll light em up with those Air Suicide troopers, after all they're just itching to die, aren't they?" Cardinal Valance ordered.

At New Lesic artillery began to rain on the Hobo position. Many of the anarchists that had fought against them in Saint John Harbour and old lesic were now commanders in the new soviet military machine. For this theatre the psychologically terrifying red uniforms were not used, these fighters were expected to by of higher morale fortitude than the defenders of the Prince. They moved in dark green drab, just as difficult to spot at night as they were in the day. A special brigade, los Hielos, were equipped with night vision goggles and would be given the task of moving in under cover of night and cannonade. Their commander was Colonel Suarez, original commander of the column at old lesic.

They moved out slowly, at a methodical, camouflaged, crawl. Each front man swept forward for mines, diverting the group threw low level hand signals. The socialist had come a far way since their inception. Combat with the formidable legionnaires had been responsible for expert officer corps that now formed the core of the soviet military. Only a small mobile AAA and anti-air detachment with an infantry battalion guarded the forward placed artillery. The static artillery had been placed in some patch work of forest at night mesh strewn over them. Outside the field of combat stood sixty thousand troops, they were the creme d'la creme of the soviet's forces. This led to conscripts being the attackers of Santos' domain.

----

The conscripts marched forward, often repeating the acts from the nascent of their soviet's military. Rape. Slavery and the assault of children was vastly increased, even in comparison to the volume that had occurred in the civil war. In fact the slaves from old lesic had actually been the number one funding source for the entire soviet! This renewed attack was, surprisingly, for economic purposes. The slaves absconded from the Principality, with a red defeat, would still produce a vast sum of riches for the socialist coffers. This whole thing made the going to slow, giving Santos time to form up regiments. 78,000 denizens had been transported into the Soviet of Asbekistan.

The Hobbiest patrols on the wall were shaken out of their routine by the bombardment, those posted on the wall immediately looked to the minefield and began firing at the locations of the mines based on the patterns they'd seen. The 40mm guns began firing sporadically, to give the illusion of disorganization while the computers triangulated the location of the artillery pieces.(15W)

Legionaires peeked out from the crenellations looking for movements in the scrub which were unusual for the night. They had quite some experience noting the 'normal' behavior of the grasses and scrub brush since the finishing of the wall. Regular patrols had been instructed to become familiar with their surroundings so that the inevitable assault by the Annies would be able to be met with efficient and brutal reprisal. Several Anti-Materiel rifles and other precision weapons were employed throughout the wall. Some mortars were taken out of the armories and placed in their niches on the wall so that they could counter bombard. The lower segments of wall had small holes just above average height. Spotlights from towers built at regular intervals on the wall illuminated swathes of the area between the wall and the cover of the trees. At least one was destroyed by the artillery fire, killing all within. (5k 14W)

" Cardinal Valance, we've not been able to launch the Whale's due to the bombardment, we will not be able to assist Santos until we suppress their artillery." Jeeves said.

" So it's those people again. Change of plans, bomb the 5 nearest Annie 'cities', and tell the Tom's(Toms pilot F-4 Phantoms) to come home afterwords, today isn't their day to die. Maybe tomorrow. Regardless though, have them packed like they are going out for their final run. If they get shot down, no one would want to be captured. Slavers, better dead than enslaved." Cardinal Valance spat.

" Shall I prepare the transmitter for you?" Jeeves asked.

" Yes, one for these Annies, and one for the people of New Lesic." Cardinal Valance said regaining some of her composure.

Citadel transmission to New Lesic
"My children, it has happened. I know I told you that it would happen, but it did so sooner that we expected. Those savages outside of the wall want to sell you for their own benefit. They want to rape and murder you. You fled here for safety, and now you will fight for it!And we will fight beside you!To those who have full kits, please distribute your sidearms to the unarmed. while we would prefer to train each individually, you must now teach each other as we focus our strength on holding the wall and gates from the enemy encroachment."

Transmission to: Soviet Asbekistan

" Your audacity and greed is tangible. While we were willing to let you live despite our reservations, you spit upon those good intentions. By the grace of the High Pope, we will make you regret your decisions. Whatever profit you sought, will be negated tenfold by our wrath."

The F-4's flew out into the sea before gaining altitude and flying off to their assigned cities, three fighters flew off to each location. One of which was the city that the Hobbiests had pulled out of earlier in the war SJH would feel fires sweep her streets once more.

High Pope Catherine, while I am grateful for your assistance in arming the refugees, a more pressing matter has been brought forth. 6 months ahead of schedule the Soviet Asbekistan has reengaged our forces at New Lesic. I am requesting a non-compliance nuclear device and a scorched earth nuclear device for the engagement of out of control slavers threatening the sovereign territory held by our country. It is my hope that the high altitude bombing of their cities will deter them from engaging us further, but in the case that New Lesic is lost, the non-compliance device will be detonated. I will refuse to cede the citizens to these slavers. The other device would be for retaliation shortly after the fall of New Lesic. Please see fit to send us these devices.

Snipers, sharpshooters and marksman took aim at the spotlights, firing off rounds to knock out the light. RPG rounds now careened over the battle at an acute angle, their larger rocket brethren flying high and their entrance steeper. The concussion and dust from artillery rounds became the background of the fighting, even a low flying aircraft would see what looked like a laser-tag game because of the tracers. Los Hielos took heavy casualties, their dark green comrades surging the front of the defence. Ten thousand soviets smacked against the Hobo line. Mines and bullets claiming seven hundred twenty men.

A platoon of T-80 tanks took to the right flank, accompanied by mechanised division of BMP-2s. This would be the first armoured action for the socialist country, a right pincer movement to crack the static fields. A company of T-90 tanks with attached BMP-2s were getting ready from the reserve.

In every city targeted a bright fire destroyed much of the land. Mass migrations occurred to neighbouring towns. Some sixty thousand people were killed. An influx of additional 204,000 Lesser Asbeks came from the front. The conscripts were ordered to hold and focus on slave-capturing.

Prince Santos ordered his people to all converge to Guata. Cheap, mostly made of concrete or white asbestos, structures were being hastily constructed. The new influx of funds circulated threw the economy and gave a heavy boost to most sectors. Shipments of both imported and exporting goods led to massive cloggage for the meagre port in Guata. All goods had been ceased, though the armour had arrived before the effective blockade. The average citizen became enriched, much of the commodities found in basic consumer purchasing power calculating baskets (that is to say a mixture of goods commonly bought/necessary). Most notably food staples as well as housing was generally free of charge. A massive tax was levied on all sales, roughly eleven percent as well as income being taxed at a forty-seven percent rate. Still, the bare necessity were somewhat supplied and the living standard was raised.

In northern Lesser Asbekistan there was nothing but desolation. The survivors eking out a living the woods or other fringe environments always wary of roads or towns. Roaming bands of red slaver-soldiers constantly hunted for more 'property' and the new requisition of dogs made them that much more effective. The soviets fortified the regional economic capital, which had become the hub of sex slaves utilised by the soldiers stationed, though now it was scarcely populated. Six hundred thousand more slaves had been found and transported to the interior of the collective. The population had been bled almost dry, historians would find a dismal comparison with Columbus' (and company) Arawak genocide.

Officially I am only sending you conventional weapons. Use these only in Last Stand or Late Stage scenarios. Destroy all evidence and physical information pertaining to Op: Tears. I approve of your method of eradicating the slaver menace. The suicide air brigade is sending another 15 Toms. I suggest you use them for their intended purpose. Though as much as I'd like to send you more F15L's the truth of the matter is that our Air force is stretched thinly enough as is. Make do with the 10 you have.

The 40mm Bofors spread along the wall focused fire on the sounds of the tanks and BMP-2's, when the spotlights started going out, flares were periodically shot out lighting up the night. Once the wave of flesh started approaching, several of the sharpshooters switched out for the more rapid firing 1911A1 pistols and AK-74's that they carried. After the message from the Citadel, citizens who were armed with the weapons from the factories and the Hobbiests who'd left earlier, swarmed the wall to lend their weapons to the cause. Those few equipped with the newly purchased 40mm grenade launchers were kept busy peppering the Annies which got close enough to the wall to start messing with it. Cracks in the wall were starting to form, chunks had been blown away by the advancing tanks and the artillery, to keep sections passable, metal plates were placed over gaps, and volunteers filled the exposed passage beneath it to repel any who would attempt to climb in. As long as there was light or movement on the opposite side of the wall the soldiers and volunteers fired.

Those without arms rushed along the city side of the wall retrieving empty casings and ammunition boxes, bringing out fresh cans and reloaded magazines when they could. The RPG's threw people back wounding them. But there were plenty to take up the arms once they'd fallen. Machine gun nests in the towers sprayed out lines of destruction from their 50 cal BMG and 7.62mmR machine guns mounts. Three new cities were selected from within the range of the F15L fighters, 9 of the 10 launched following a similar flight path out of New Lesic to the F-4's. A handful of mortars were set up and began pounding the area outside of the wall at random, not sure where to aim, as the field was constantly shifting. (176K 32W)

The two Lyran tanks were held in reserve, holding position with their guns aimed through the gates in the wall.

When the 15 Toms returned they were given a mission more appropriate to their calling, the disruption of soviet operations within Lesser Asbekistan. Total expenditure of equipped ordinance, followed by an ejection after directing their fighter towards the next target. After which they would land, and engage the enemy until dead or captured. A heart monitor was strapped to them along with a large amount of C4, if at anytime their heart stopped or they activated the override, they would self-destruct. The Potential in the plan was great, and it was the Hobbiest Republic's singularly most expensive suicide program. The objective of the Toms was to devastate and demoralize the enemy while causing as much damage as possible.(15K) OOC: because they fight to die, all that remains is your damages

" With this, perhaps it will slow their advance. Santos, you need to find a way for your country to survive. We can't coddle you forever." Cardinal Valance said first to herself before giving out orders," Lieutenant, get teams of medics sweeping the wall, I don't just want wounded and dead off of there, take anyone who has been fighting for over 12 hours and replace them with well rested troops. The wall can only hold so many people. And with the volunteers, we can go into rotations, 10,000 at four 6 hour shifts per day. have the remaining 54,000 who aren't armed, but are trained, receive the arms of the dead. and keep the factory going, there's no doubt that with all of this fighting some guns will wear down. Spread the word and get one of the Captains or Majors to construct us a schedule. Oh, and make sure that those 40mm guns are kept fed, we need to keep up the ability to penetrate armor, and eventually reach out and touch their artillery."

Despite the fighting at New Lesic some of the transports were ordered to lift off, and flew over the ocean to deliver troops to the embattled regime over the course of the night and the next day. By the time the air lift was completed 4,000 Foreign Legionaire Volunteers had landed and began supporting the Lesser Asbekistani military.

The time had come. The Red tide of the Tropicarn army had been unleashed and there Soviet allies and made the first move into the Imperial lands. Rommel ordered his army to be mobilised and the first Tropicarn forces to be sent into the Imperial Boarders.

The Useal tactic was employed and the Elite Tropicarn Paratroopers began to muster in Tobruks biggest millitry airfeild 2 miles south of the main base where the 1st army lead by Rommel himself was mobiliseing. As the first Troop planes took of the entire crew were eager, excited and extreamly confident of victory in the war with men cracking jokes and having a good time that any normal person wouldnt even begin to think they were off to war.

Tropicarn High Command sent a letter to the soviet forces advanceing into the enamys land.

To The Soviet High Command

My comrades it is in this hour in the year of our lord 2012 that i Erwin Rommel have begun Tropicarnos first move into this war. as we speak 750 of our Elite Paratroopers are on there way to your posistion in a attempt to out move and cut of the advanceing Imperial soldiers that have arrayed against you. it will only be a matter of time my friends before victory is complete i wish you all good luck and may god be with you!

the main force will be there soon. when we have secured the surrounding area we will make a move on the capitol and capture the Imperial family and end this war as qiuckly as possible.

May god be with us all.

Along the front the casualties piled up, but another ten thousand men were ordered to brazenly charge into the truculent jaws of the Hobo infantryman. C4, grenades and RPG-7s were all extremely common near the artificial obstruction. The trading of casualties rose as waves of men charged concomitantly across and swept the enemy bastions with their assault rifles. Time and time again they were beaten back, many to the point where their once dark-green uniforms now matched the red uniforms of the slave-capturing comrades in Lesser Asbekistan proper. One thousand three hundred and seven men were taken out of commission.

The tank charged continued on, several missiles from the turret of four T-80s darted at the Bofor cannon. The large plums of light smoke and high heat signature made them a high-quality target. Seven tanks had been downed as well as fourteen BMP-2s. The infantry dismounted from the BMP-2s as they stopped, turning side-ways and laying down a heavy suppressing fire from their 30mm 2A42 automatic cannons and veteran-manned 7.62 heavy machinegun. Hundreds of infantry fell out under fire, taking down thirty-six of them, they formed up and charged. They were more heavily equipped than the soldiers in the centre, each being armed with multiply grenades, a grenade launcher, and more proliferated LMGs, HMGs and RPGs. Two engineering platoons that also had high-explosives remained in reserve behind the covering BMP-2s.

The suicide attack led to eighty-four thousand additional deaths. Mostly civilians from the enormous fires and ensuing battles one hundred six soviets died, not including one thousand two hundred forty-eight police and fire man. The slaves harvested amounted to forty thousand, the area was almost completely devoid of 'free' human life. The few remainders were strictly soviets and sex slaves maintained to garnish even more wages from them.

In Guata a force mounted to seventy thousand able bodied men stood ready to fight along the Hobos. There was just two problems, a lack of equipment and supplies along with training. Most of the men were little more than cannon fodder candidates and due to the obvious shrinkage in population the commander of the Lesser Asbek military, Prince Santos, was not going to have any of that stratagem. He approached the reinforcing Hobo's commander, "So, how about you gentlemen train my military in some crash-coarse lessons. They'll be no good to anyone dead," He stumbled forward non-nonchalantly, then twirling around his long light-blue cape fluttered behind him. "Some rifles and food would be pleasing as well."

Against the Wall

Postby Hobbiest Republic » Sat Feb 25, 2012 9:36 pm

The suicidal charges pressed the lines sorely, hundreds died from the Annie determination to take the walls. The tanks and bodies began piling up against the wall. The defense advantages were becoming moot. The bofors that was targeted by the tanks and missiles withered from the fire and death dropping the number of operational bofors along the wall to 18. The Annies could be repulsed for some time, but the endurance of the unliving wall was being steadily chipped away. Gaps in it could be seen from the Citadel, it hadn't had time to be prepared for a prolonged siege. But in place of concrete, the gaps were filled with the volunteers in shifts. If the enemy got into the city the nearly 200,000 unarmed civilians would be subject to their whims, they fought with the determination of knowing that. Cornered as they were, with their backs to the sea, they fought all the harder, waiting for the ships to arrive that would begin the evacuation.(415 K 200 W)

“ We'll need to buy ourselves some time to clear the area in front of the walls, but these bastards are relentless. Do we still have some of the M4 Shermans?” Cardinal Valance asked, peering through the scope of one of the hunting rifles, and firing from the Citadel and aiming for the Annies furthest from the frontline.

“ We have only 12 Shermans on standby in the city. The two Lyran tanks with the 140mm guns are also ready, they've got the latest armor and such, they should be able to shred the soviet tanks fairly easily. Also, we believe that we've successfully triangulated the location where the artillery was firing from, what do you wish to do?” Her adviser stated.

“ Have 4 shermans at 3 gates at random, they're to leave in pairs to engage the enemy, make sure they have gunners on them, that sea of flesh will eat them up if we don't. And don't let them back in until the gates are cleared again. Send out our last reserved F15L and see about targeting the sites. Notify me when the other 9 return.” Cardinal Valance said, firing again.

---

“ I'm Nemrith Valkyrie, War Chief of the Valkyrian Clan, and it would be a pleasure to arm and train your men. It won't be easy, for them, but before they face the enemy they will know how to kill. They will know how to kill without being killed. As for weapons, we're running a shortage of those all around. I can place a requisition order regardless. I recommend hand weapons and ambush tactics using sleeper holes, that way you can steal some weapons of your own. As for food, I'll see what I can do about that, New Lesic is fairly self-sufficient but I don't know about how much they'll be able to spare. ” General Valkyrie stated, his simple uniform making him hard to distinguish from the regular Legionaires.

The transports trickled in with supplies, bringing dozens of much needed arms to the Guatan Military, and hundreds of meals.

What extra weapons the handful of HRAF had brought with them were distributed to the Lesser Asbekistani soldiers, the Legionaires just had their own weapons and were not likely to part with them, given the necessity of being armed. They immediately began training the soldiers under Santos in the strategies they planned on using along with basic weapons safety and use, sometimes as many as 30 being taught by one 'trainer' at a time. The last, and probably most important thing that was covered was the proper looting of an enemy combatant once the battle was 'over' Weapons and ammunition took precedence, and rations came last.

“ Having lost so much territory this early on, it's likely you'll have to survive using only what you can steal from the enemy or the surrounding land. Don't expect much supply from either of the cities. Also, use whatever you're feeling now to defeat the enemy, use it all. Your sadness, your anger, your despair, feed it all into your hatred. Use that fire within to keep warm, use it to beat them back. You fight for freedom. You fight for your families. You fight to take back what is yours. This is where they die, and we fight. No more running. There's no way they've bled enough for the land they've taken. For the lives they've taken. For every inch they seek to take from you, make sure they have to pay hand over fist in blood for it, that's the only way to show slavers how wrong they are.” Hobbiest Trainer to Lesser Asbekistani trainees hours after landing.

Thousands of infantrymen were now at the barricades, charging over and trying to hold as much ground as possible. So close was much of the battle that bayonets became a more effective tool, skewing men and being easy to pull out for the next thrust. Grenades lobbed back and forth, often the soviet attacks would be on the losing side of that game of hot potato. If a medic was seen trying to pull a wounded soldier from a fight they were immediately shot. I only took one soldier and a medic to drag and care for most casualties on the field, and that meant the wounded had less impact on the logistics of the opposing force. The officers here were competent, in the middle of the melee remember the parades thrown for their glorious 'victory' at John's Grace and others for the unspoken defeat at this very spot. The latter being more brutal, throwing men more hastily into the strong defense of New Lesic.

The tanks fired more missiles, the line of BMP-2s firing their own 9M113 Konkurs at the bofors, two tanks and four transports were knocked out of the fighting. One additional transport had been hit but maintained position and fired the entire rack, of the four, from its arsenal's Konkurs launcher. The heavy mechanised likely did more damage to the actual structure than the others did, more cautions in their attacks they were not to be tossed needlessly. Half the engineers charged, their more combat-fit comrades were occupying a lot of attention, as well as the deafening sound of nearby 125mm guns and 30mm cannons. Despite the fear and magnanimous defences they felt covered by all the suppressing fire. There was an odd lack of artillery though, save two pieces that had not yet been found.

In total a little less than two thousand men fell, mostly at the centre where fighting was at its heaviest.

---

Five hundred new slaves were found. It was a weak consolation prize for the ninety-four thousand lost, the lack from transferred fire-fighters lead to a lag in response and the blazes quickly spread. Mostly civilians and fireman were lost, there was an odd silence from the military which had been moving AAA 'wolfpacks' around. They were decentralised groups, connected threw a main observation network, but usually only consisting of a 9K22 Tunguska attached with a freight to carry around guarding infantrymen. Their goal would be to initially respond to an enemy attack, have the central network organise the other wolfpacks and lead them through the battle. They would surround the landing location (each wolfpack having 12-15 infantry) or more potent AA/AAA groups would be sent to intercept them and attempt to annihilate the formation. This was strict anti-helicopter strategy, (except the the AA/AAA interception teams, AA units being equipped to target and hit overflying planes with their large and advanced missiles) though airborne troops would find the terminal stage to landing a bit more lead-heavy than they expected.

As well the erudite prince had just finished the similarly named 'The Prince' by Nicolo Machiavelli, again authored by a noble. He confront the commander of the foreign forces, and drew him aside into a more secretive room where they had some privacy. "Listen. I can't send my men into the field without weapons. They will rout. The illusion, and that's what it is, will crumble. Right now I am paying my citizens, to construct free housing for them, using money I had arrested bankers and lenders for and later I've murdered them to maintain order. I'm running out of money." He paused for breath. "The situation is bad." As they spoke the docks were still jam-packed, only aircraft could create threw and that was very expensive as well.

The shifts went from 4 sets of 10,000 to 2 sets of 20,000 roughly. The Defenders emptied their weapons as fast as they could into the pressing wall of flesh, sometimes hitting the same body four or more times. The dead friend and foe alike piled up, making the wall higher with the dead. The machine gun nests were only quiet when they had to change barrels, three more of the Bofors guns had been destroyed. Those without guns who volunteered, charged forward with spears and clubs as the melee got further out of hand.(418 K 106W)

A large stockpile of the old Mosins and other rifles had been liberated for Prince Santos, along with a portion of the shipment of assault rifles from the Republic, the defenders in New Lesic fought tenaciously, even when the enemy breached those volunteers holding the gaps in the wall, the hallways underneath becoming contested by the fighters. It wasn't until well into the battle that officers noticed some of the wounded taking small medical supplements which they drew from the folds of their uniforms. This supplement allowed them to continue fighting despite their injuries. With drugs being so prolific within the Republic, and the resulting performance of the wounded it wasn't hard to see what drug it was.(590 K 58 W)

The Shermans emerged from the gates, their main guns firing at the armor which was breaking down the wall, their turret mounted machine guns peppering the Annie troops which had their backs to them. cutting a path of tracers along the lines. After they emerged, flaming oil was poured from the arch to keep Annies from trying to get in while the gate was closed.

" We're losing the wall, have another trench dug behind it." Cardinal Valance said, firing continually, she had an assistant on the roof of the Citadel with a flare gun and a box of reloads for it keeping the field lit until the sun rose.

" Cardinal, the... shipment you've been expecting has arrived." Jeeves noted.

" It's about time. Have it set up in the basement of the city's centermost building, get what suicide troops we have left to us and assign them to defend that point to the last. If the city breaches we need to move fast to save as many people as possible. How're our pilots doing? Ready for another large shipment to Santos? Start moving civilians into the boats, take them to the homeland." Cardinal Valance ordered.

---

" You... What?" General Valkyrie said disbelievingly. He pinched the bridge of his nose, and tapped his forehead.

" I mean, we've got nearly 20,000 rifles on the way, 2,000 assault rifles, and we're getting extra food. And you're telling me this now? We can't arm all 70,000 of your soldiers. And you're telling me that they're going to run? Four times their number have fled into the arms of slavery. What are your people? If they won't fight now, with their backs to the wall, I can't honestly say that they deserve much of a life at all. If they're not willing to gain their freedom by the blood of their enemies, and by their own earnest efforts why am I even here? what happened to those tanks? And how many of these asshole Soviets are there? We all saw what they did to Lesic and Saint John Harbour, where are they getting this immense wealth of manpower? How're they able to keep so many slaves? You'd think that they'd have a revolt on their hands. Unless your people are the docile cattle that don't bite, and never will... And if that's so, what makes them worth protecting?" General Valkyrie asked.

The Training continued, and the deliveries as well. Once the troops were finished training up their soldiers, they planned on striking out against the slave caravans and practicing maneuvers with some of the soldiers, with the objective of surprising some soviets and capturing some more weapons and food.

It was time to press. To attack. Five thousand men moved to assist the armour. As well the T-90's fired using their new targeting systems, their shots primarily aimed at the Shermans. Twenty to three they were still at a fair distance and pretty inexperienced. The T-80 commander nearer the wall saw the heavy damage and ordered his remaining eight tanks forward to try and drive over it, several of which had already been damaged. Four more BMP-2s had been destroyed included, the damaged one. The remainder fired half of their original missile rack, only one left on each transport. The engineers were able to finally place their massive explosive sticks, squeezing the trigger as the last took cover. One hundred six infantrymen laid on the ground.

The centre had a fresh mass, ten thousand men lurched forward. The sun was rising at their backs, it would make aiming for them difficult with a glaring sun in their eyes. The enemy would be illuminated for the attacks, of course this effect would be reversed at sunset. The fresh men were thrown in the middle. Three thousand five hundred eighteen men were claimed by the defenders, the grenades quickly strapped off their bodies and tossed at the enemy. Their attack would be relentless, much like the enemy at Saint John Harbour.

The prince twisted up his face,"Have you seen a map? They occupy most of the country and to greater affect they control all the industries. For us private donations, such as yours, my own and wealthy citizens has been keeping this 'nation' afloat. It's not enough to raise a strong army, our only real source of tax revenues, imports and exports, is clogging the port. I can either support my army or feed and house my people." He rubbed his hands together, they had grew cold as the winter months passed by and the heat was kept off to save money. "Those tank battalions are where I put the experienced troops. Everyone else is just a scared, meandering, pauper. To expect them to charge into a well-fed, experienced and funded enemy without food or a rifle and maintain the line? That's madness. And whose to replace them? These are questions you've given no need to. It's a David and Goliath story, and you're my sling."

" Give the order for the fall back, make sure that none of the Bofors are left for the enemy. Make sure that as soon as anything comes over that wall it meets our finest resolve, we may have lost our Shermans, but those Lyran battle tanks should give them pause. And a healthy bombardment from manned RPGs and LAWs, they'll briefly be vulnerable from the bottom when they peak the wall. Draw forces back within the towers and Citadel, bring down the towers that can't be held, and have our troops form up to have the lines back to the trench and connected to the citadel, lower the wall locks, I don't want anyone else getting in who's an Annie. At least without getting shot." Valance said, the holes in the building super structure causing it to groan suspiciously.

" Perhaps we too should abandon the Citadel, it cannot take much more punishment." Jeeves suggested.

" Collapse it, as per protocol. Give them as little purchase as possible, like we did with the city so many weeks ago." Cardinal Valance.

The volunteers and surviving Legionaires and HRAF fell back to the hastily built trench, readying their weapons. People emerged from the windows of the nearest buildings aiming over the berm of rubble and dead. The unarmed civilians filled the docks filing into the ships that had brought the arms, crowding the decks of the transports, overfilling them from their normal capacity. nearly 70,000 per ship for the two that came. almost 60,000 unarmed civilians remained huddled near the docks like before the new section was built. Several blocks from the docks the combat lines stood several people thick. They used cover, anything they could find, they crowded the line, it wouldn't matter how many anarchists came. They fired, following their doctrine never an inch without it layed upon thick with blood.(1500 K 400 W)

The F15L's that returned did so to kill any laggards entering the city. sweeping briefly with their cannons before returning to get fresh missiles mounted where they would take off, burning the land behind the Annie advance, and hopefully forcing them into the defensive line which would impale them. With the ships came the Toms who were unloaded and moved to the airstrip where they began the fueling and loading process. They would be ready by the time the sun was high.

" Santos, soon enough all you'll have is your army, because your people will all be slaves. When I was a child, fighting in my homeland, in the revolution, do you think I fought with a full stomach? Do you think I started with any more than any of your men start with now? We will be your sling, but your people will need to change. They will need to sacrifice, not just the rich. They'll earn their freedom. As mine did. Off of the dead of their enemies. You say they're well fed? Then we shall take the food from them. You say they're well armed? We'll take their arms from them. You say they have all the industries? Industry yes, but built on the backs of the slave. There are a great many people in this world. Better allies than us. You would do well to converse with them. We sit here with you, helping you, but we are not gods. You've made a great many sacrifices, I can understand this. But I need information, what do we face? What is their strength, their density? The cardinal has a history of brutality, conventional warfare is not for her. it's a miracle that she hasn't slaughtered them already. Of course, it's not like I have a tactical communicator. Maybe she is slaughtering them..." General Valkyrie implored Santos.

The fighting in the centre had already lead to some small salients being formed over the wall but they simply fired into the retreating enemy. Then the Hobos came under cover and returned fire, the next wave over the wall was massacred by the sheer brutality. The commanders ordered their men to stay back and hold the barricades, they climbed over the top and shot threw some of the cracks in structure. Grenades continued to be tossed at the enemy. The LAW and RPGs traded fire with each other, adding more portholes to be shot from. Several had light machineguns as well as the upper section often had. Sometimes an incoming LAW hit the bottom of a weak section and caused it to collapse. The soviets learned not to establish machinegun positions over the non-solid parts. Nine hundred forty three men taken from combat. Fifteen thousand from the centre were ordered to withdraw.

The T-80s and T-90s also fell back into the forest. They would be of little use inside the area, tanks being largely ineffective in city landscapes. The mechanised infantry mounted into the remaining transports, those not able to fit hoofed their backpacks and got moving. The five thousand men did the same thing as their counterparts to the middle. Three hundred ninety-six men had been lost in the charge, along with two T-80s and two BMP-2s. Their armoured column had been given a hard blow, sending more into the breach would have been foolish.

----

Five thousand of the brightest soldiers were 'fit for combat' though they were just the lucky few whom had a rifle since the start of the training. "I have one million four hundred thousand people in Guata. That is mine. Everywhere else is lost. These 70,000 are five percent of the population. If I send more men, or worse lose half of them, I won't be able to replace them... at least not without an implosion of my economy shortly after. I can give you my armour, we'll try to liberate the northern provinces but I augur it's a waste. As far as information on our opponent... it's minimal. Last reports have their army composition in the north at one to two hundred thousand. There's no way to tell what percentage are veterans, since so many were active in Guata, Saint John Harbour, old Lesic and all over the country. We've got no intelligence on mechanised units but the latest refugees said that they had dogs so they'll likely see us a mile away."

----

To the Hobo Bourgeois,

We will not falter, stammer nor hesitate to see you on the field. Your request wreaks of desperation, these cardinals cannot even maintain their own domain. Just as the people you rule have no fear of you, your words, while pernicious, are impotent. We will find you in battle and lay waste to you. Good luck in hell.

After long months of being silent and non-responsive to the events happening around his nation, Kalev Garcia once again saw an opportunity to get back his country into the world stage. The situation between the Principality of Lesser Asbekistan and the Theocracy of Hobbiest Republic against the Asbekistan communists and Tropicarno was given an interest by the General Staff of the Soviet Military. They submitted a formal military and intelligence report to Garcia and even drawn plans in assisting both Tropicarno and the Asbekistan communists for their independence. At first, Garcia found that intervening in such a small conflict would be a waste of resources of the nation, but later changed his mind and quickly called for an emergency meeting with his General Staff at the Soviet Capitol.

Kasvenogorod, Soviet Martilia
Soviet Capitol - Bulwagan ng Kagitingan (Bravery Hall)

"So, what is the purpose of intervening on this conflict", Garcia asked his General Staff as they began to tackle the issue on between the nations involved in the conflict seriously.

"Well, Comrade, I do believe that this will boost the fame and morale of our people and would reintroduce Martilia to the world stage", his General Staff of the Armed Forces replied. Garcia looked at him furiously and replied, "I know where you are getting from, Comrade, but can anybody in this room could give me a more concrete answer as to why do we need to get involved!". There was silence. Garcia could not accept the reasons for the intervention, but his General Staff for the Army soon stood up and presented an answer that what Garcia needs. "Well, Comrade, besides from the reasons that my superiors have given and also my comrades in the armed forces, defense force and national guard, I do believe that aiding our communist allies would not only propel ourselves back to the world stage, but would strengthen again our relations with our communist brothers in abroad."

"Proceed", Garcia replied as he begin to listen to the reason of his General Staff of his Army. "Now, if we could strengthen our relation with our communist brothers in abroad, in the future they could be able to assist us in our conflicts and vice-versa. Furthermore, we could also influence these nations to an extent that they would also be able to influence their neighboring nations to begin a communist revolution which could be favorable for both Martilia and our allies.", his General Staff of the Army added. Satisfied from the answer, and also his request for the declaration of war against the Principality of Lesser Asbekistan and the Theocracy of Hobbiest Republic to the Congress, Supreme Soviet Court and his Premier were accepted, Garcia did not hesitate to create a expeditionary task force to begin aiding Tropicarno and the Asbekistan communists in their war for their freedom. Garcia assigned fresh officers, which were promoted recently, to be the commanders of designated military units that will take part on the conflict. Simultaneously, Garcia ordered his Foreign Commissariat to create a message to the governments of the Principality of Lesser Asbekistan, the Theocracy of Hobbiest Republic, and the United Socialist States of Tropicarno and to the Asbekistan communist leader about their intervention to the conflict.

Summary: This aggression is against us. It is expressly for the purpose of collecting slaves and murdering my people. Your military action would be in the support of Slavery. I would ask you to reconsider. We are not the aggressors. Santos ceded the majority of the country to your 'comrades'. WE had an agreement and they broke the ceasefire. I have civilians to protect. I will die before I cede a single one of my citizens to the demanding arms of your 'allies'.

To: High Pope Catherine(Hobbiest Republic supreme commander)
From: Cardinal Valance(New Lesic Posting)
Subject: Retribution
Unencrypted
Summary: Catherine, I am sorry that I will not be able to see you in the homeland. I apologize in advance for the removal of one of your generously given Toms from duty. It was the only way to get them to see... the error of their ways. I've come to think of this place as my home, and these people as my children. They won't take me seriously. This is the first international conflict that we've fought in. It's not even like I told them to give up slaving. I recently received a report from one of my generals, Valkyrie. He says that Guata houses over 1 million people, three times that of our people in New Lesic. I have already lost over 2,500 men and women. It was said that when we fought we would know why we fought. I hope you recover soon. I will be placing Jeeves as Acting Commander in my absence.

The two sides exchanged fire throughout the morning. it was less strictly organized and supervised, there were fewer people telling others to get up and sleep. Lyran Tanks continued firing at the wall from their back positions, they'd taken some damage from the stray RPG but their guns still worked They moved along the streets bombarding the barricades where they found them manned from several hundred meters away. (100K 42 W)

Some prayed, some wept. The few doctors and medics left after the assault on the wall were busy stitching bandaging and performing various other vital procedures. The field hospitals which had been set up after the fall of the citadel were full to overflowing. It was a scene right out of the St. Craftian subjugation.

" Jeeves I'm making you commander of New Lesic, Send out four more Toms. Have the fifth relieved from duty, Put the tactical retribution nuke on it." Cardinal Valance stated.

" What are you thinking?" Jeeve asked.

" Bloody their noses a bit more, see that we're playing on a full field, mind you they did have to throw these together in a bit of a rush, something about not officially having domestic production capability. We've got the facilities but we've never fought a war like this before, it has never been necessary to have these weapons before." the Cardinal said.

" Don't go yet, send 5 toms and the 10 F15L's we have to be making progress against them. The Toms will do their part and the F15L's will do what they've been doing. Just hold on a tick. If they won't stop, then I'll clear you. But not before then. Don't leave. Bigger players are entering the stage, and the Republic can't afford for us to botch this up. They aren't ready to face this. We'll fight, as we always have. With who we have." Jeeves stated.

---

" We won't foray into the north, that'll burn sure enough if they back us into a tight enough corner. Couldn't they just leave us alone? No? I suppose that's too much to ask. We'll look into retaking the territory you retained initially." General Valkyrie said plotting out the advancing lines for the troops.

" I don't know about the paratroopers or this 'new' opponent, but I suspect we'll have a hard time fighting them off and protecting your people, we only have 10 permanently stationed fighters. And there's not likely to be much more help from the homeland. The moment we have to engage them in air to air we'll all be on our own. No more food, no more ammo. The transports won't be able to keep coming." He warned.

As the skys grew dark over Imperial lands the sound of Tropicarn aircraft filled the surrounding area. as they flew over the local towns and villiges they knew it was only a matter of time till they had to make the jump. Tropicarn Para's were some of the finest soldiers around but many never made it back due to the tough conditions and deadication they showed in battle.

As the lights turned green they knew it was now time for the jump.

Commander: GO GO GO!

As those fateful words were shouted the para's began to make the jump. 750 men jumped from there planes and began to flout down to regroup and make there advance. but the weather hampered this plan and being a para meant you knew you couldnt rely on everything to go well. with the gusts of wind from the sea blowing in. the paras began to scatter all over the fields. some men got stuck in trees and others landed on houses and were lynched by villigers. the battle was now to secure the villiges and put a stop to any resistence and secure the beachs for the main army to begin there landing.

Seven RPG-27s fired off in a barrage against the Lyran tanks, now visibly damaged. Their RPG comrades previously fired a wave aimed primarily at the skirts and track, an attempt to immobilise the behemoths and make the RPG-27 rounds find home more often. The right and centre flank now coalesced and formed a unified line behind the barracks. Casualties continued to decrease as the fighting became less erratic and heavy. The previous destruction of old Lesic had further impressed upon the soviet command the need for absolute discipline in the maintenance of the line and waves tactic. The front, which once hovered near 30,000 deployed troops had now shrunk down to the freshest 8,500. A further addition of fifteen hundred troops would bring the men holding the barricades, after casualties, at nine thousand eight hundred seventy-three. The tanks, transports and mechanised infantry were being rearmed, rested and repaired.

---

The prince met the commander the next day, in an empty courtyard. Bluejays shot passed, chirping away one wonderful song. Fresh reports came in of spotted paratroops in the eastern province. Composition size was unknown but a small fishing village, equipped with a recently constructed dock, had been abandoned there. If they captured it some small ships could come. It'd be a long ride, but letting it fall in enemy hands could be worst. It was near only a few dozen clicks from the capital. "Alright," He informed the Hobo whilst handing him a manila folder, "Now. I've also received word that I have an entire military of trained and equipped men of thirty thousand. I can deploy some of these, not the armour preferably, troops to take what looks like a new viable source of supply."

---

To the Marti-mcMart brand of commie,

I dare say you'll be ravaged by a monkey before my land is ceded in any condition! Further I'd like to announce I've slept with your mother.

Prince Santos

Summary: My Cardinal, Valance, who is posted in New Lesic, out of desperation seeks to escalate the war, in order to bring it to a close. I would implore your two nations to step in and assist us in the protection of innocent civilians from slavery and oppression of a false soviet state. In this way we would be able to escalate the war without requiring my Cardinal to do anything unbecoming of her status. I have received a message from Acting Commander Arthur Jeeves that he's convinced her to postpone her action for a small time. Please get back to me as soon as possible, We will be sending a naval unit to support the ground movements, but would prefer our actions be backed by more than our military strength, a large soviet nation threatens us with annihilation.

" I hate waiting." Valance said thinking.
" Perhaps it's time for some music." One of the Toms suggested.
" I like that idea, and I have just the lineup." Valance said slyly.
On the radio the signal from the large transmitter at the New Lesic AFB overpowered the local and national signals, blanketing the area, and magnifying its volume. This is Cardinal Valance, I've been temporarily moved off the front lines, and while I regret that I am not able to be there fighting with you, my dear friends, I think it's appropriate to remind ourselves, and our enemies what it is we're fighting for, so turn your volume up, make the streets sing with our songs. When the first sound byte ended she took some time to give context to the selection. This one is for those we lost when the Annies so disgracefully assaulted the citadel, for our dead. To show that even though we must carry on fighting, we can mourn as well. Afterwards we'll be hearing what our lovely Toms have our enemies listening to while they fly overhead wreaking the havok they're wont to do. And finally a little bit of home for those who've served or wish to serve with the HRAF.

The music played, refreshing the troops on the line, and instilling into them a vigor that no drug could take the place of. Several inspired suppressions were attempted, heavy fire covering a few ambitious volunteers who ran up to plant explosives at the base of the ruined walls. (94 K 12 W)

OOC: found them on youtube, I have to update my Factbook for these but this pretty much is accepted as fact in the Republic
National Anthem
Funeral Dirge
Tom suicide track
Popular HRAF division theme

The Lyran Tanks suffered the RPGs, their tracks taking damage, one being disabled, the turret punched through, the engine whined and started to smoke. The other tank, using the first as cover fired back at the RPG's with its main gun and anti-infantry guns as well. (1K 2W)

The infantry held the lines, but some aspiring commander had the bright idea of flanking the enemy position. Nearly 4,000 Legionaires moved to catch the mechanized units in a pincer maneuver. Taking with them the transports which were equipped as gunships, nearly 20 gunships would engage the mechanized units in their maintenance and recuperating moments while the 4,000 legionaires would fire at them from the ground while their eyes were averted towards the sky and the ships. (138 K 53 W)

---

" I will personally lead the men to taking this village." General Valkyrie suggested.

" I'd like to take 7,000 of your men with me, along with 2,000 of mine, the rest of mine will continue training the unprepared. We'll see about ambushing their patrols, and then sweeping them out of the village. I'm thinking 50 man Platoons on the outlier approaches as scouts(with one anti tank weapon per platoon), with the core moving in under cover. we'll observe briefly before picking them off with concentrated fire. New Lesic will have Toms on stand by if we need extra armor or aerial help, and I've got a couple radiomen with me to call it in. How does that sound to you Prince Santos, We won't be risking those tanks of yours today." He asked, awaiting approval to instigate the ambitious plan which was to cut a swath of destruction with a double march out to the village to secure it.

Hundred miles off the coast of Asbekistan
Expeditionary Task Force - Asbekistan
10th Soviet Fleet - SMS Tatrain, Uzunaga-class Command Ship

It was not too long when the Expeditionary Task Force - Asbekistan arrived near the territorial waters of Asbekistan. The task force has two naval fleets, one air army and two ground army at the disposal of Grand Field Marshal Edilberto Salonga. Salonga is one of the freshly promoted GFMs in the armed forces, thus it will be his first time to handle a task force. The task force has two command ships attached to their fleets and one of them, the SMS Tatrain, is the seat of military operations of the entire task force until they have accomplished their objective, or retreated back to their fatherland. Salonga, soon received a transmission that they are now entering the Asbekistan waters and airspace within an hour, and he quickly ordered to TFCON 3 which means "Full-Defensive Status". The ten aircraft carriers soon dispatch their respective air patrols and begin patrolling their airspace with a radius of 10 kilometers from their fleet. Submarines have also began getting on deep Asbekistan waters as far as 20 miles off the coast of Asbekistan in preparation for the landing. All RADARs, SONARs are on high alert both on the ships, submarines and electronic aircraft has also been deployed to intercept enemy forces and to alert the fleet for incoming enemy forces within the radius of 20 kilometers.

Meanwhile, Garcia received the latest intelligence reports on the ground, including the report regarding the slavery of Asbekistan and Hobbiest Republic, in which in turned out to be not true. Garcia was furious about why he was informed with an inaccurate intelligence which caused the country to be dragged in the war. Nevertheless, Garcia still insisted on himself that he will not pull the forces back, rather he will attempt to use his troops to prevent the Asbekistan communists to incorporate slavery one they have freed the Lesser Asbekistan from the tyranny of the current autocratic government.

The enemy gunships would find a lacking array of armour to confront, as that had been entirely pulled back. Instead a swarm of air-to-ground missiles, mostly from specialized SPAAG units like the Tunguska, totalling around thirty-eight. As well quad-mounted automatic cannons, from the same source, also laid down a dearth of fire. The troops defending their position also fired from the barricades using small arms, RPGs and several scattered MANPADs. The enemy flanking manuever leapt over the unguarded and secured section of the barricades and now fired on the right flank from a hundred meters off. These numerous distractions led to planted explosives to suceed and blow chunks of the wall, along with men, away. The battered T-80 column re-entered combat, firing off their turret-mounted anti-infantry measures as well. The enemy flankers being in open ground where the perfect target for armour. Six hundred thirty-one men gave their lives or limbs for the soviet.

The prince nodded. (Please ask me the condition of the men from time to time, but you will have overall control of them for the mission.) Santos ordered his least-disciplined men, all equipped with just bolt action rifles, to go with Valance to the fisher village near the dropped parachutists. They were low on morale and weak from malnutrition, his majesty had given him the opposite of the cream of the crop. The red blob in northern Lesser Asbekistan, having exhausted the slave resources of that region, began its slow march to Guata.

The Para's made a break for the coast once they had finally regrouped. they couldnt wait any longer now there posistion was comprimised they had to find defenseable positions and hold them untill the main force or allies could arrive. The prara's made there dash for the coast and after afew hours walk they made it to a seemingly small fishing villige.

Commander: ok lads here is the plan. 40 of our finest will scout the coast ( i will need info on any citys or large docking areas near our position if they are not ambushed and forced into a fight ) and find out any info on anywhere we can hold up untill the main force gets here, the rest of you fuckers, dig in because i dont want to have to write letters to your wifes and mothers telling them how your sorry arses were handed to you in a fight against a army not as well trained as you are. lets go people!

The Para's sent to scout left armed with there Tropicarn Ak-74's afew RPG's and grenades and set off to scout, the rest began to dig in, making fortifications, trenchs and sitting in houses around the villige hoping if the enamy came on them they would have the element of supprise, or so they had hoped it would only be a matter of time till the enamy was on them and being so small in numbers they could only sit, and wait untill there allies and main force arrived.

Several self-proclaimed militiamen wandered the country-side east of Guata. They were equipped with heavy rifles, mostly old Mausers. Two dozen of them had run across a patrolling group of the foreign troops, and they fired their thick 8mm rounds into the column. Quickly under cover from trees another volley came at the enemy, and another. Molotov cocktails had been tossed, igniting a bright fire near the Tropen position. As the enemy stepped closer to the militia's position they fell back and resumed firing, kitting out of closer range.

"Get Down!" shouted one of the men as they came under fire from the militia. the Para's dropped to there knees and began to take cover as they were fired upon by the Imperialn soldiers. before they had a chance to fire back a molotov that was thrown landed right next to the group leader, engulfing him in flames burning his skin right of his bone and causing panic in the Para's line.

They faught back heroically, useing there Training and skill to pinpoint the militas positions and release small bursts of fire into the trees and areas they hid. One Soldier got up to his knees and loaded up his RPG. Taking aim at a group of trees suspected to be where the Militia was hiding he fired into the trees hoping for the best
