Law school, paralegal before a good idea ?

Okay here is the deal. I am currently applying to law schools.
Admissions would be in August.

My previous plan was to go to ParaLegal school mostly so I could live off veterans benefits. These would be the last of my federally administered benefits. The Para Legal school would end in August jsut in time for law school admissions.
Then use the Texas tuition exemption for law school. This limited me to 4 Texas law schools.
However today a program called the yellow Ribbon act was brought to my attnetion, that would allow me to go to a private school onthe remainder of my Federally funded benefits for 12 months.

Now I have no clue what to do. The private law schools offer me more flexibilty.

Anyways the law students and lawyers of NSG do you have any ideas?

Seconded. Probably a waste of time. The skills you'll learn as a paralegal won't help you that much, if at all, in law school or as a lawyer. Also, assuming you could include this training on your law school applications, it wouldn't be beneficial. Legal assistants and paralegals are a dime a dozen to law schools. Your military experience is a much better bump than this.

I have one more comment about the paralegal track. While it's not going to help you in law school and it's not going to help you get into law school, it might be valuable experience to learn how a law firm works. My boyfriend works in a law firm and some of the attorneys have said something to the effect of, "I wish I had worked in a law firm before going to law school because I never would have gone otherwise." Legal work is kind of tedious and boring for the most part. I agree that you run the risk of burning yourself out before law school starts, but if you don't end up training to be a paralegal, then you could always try to get a job in a law firm as like a records or copy clerk or some kind of office assistant.

I knew a guy who worked as a staff accountant at a law firm before going to law school. Of course, he didn't experience everything about the job, but he was able to get some exposure to how some firms operate. He noticed a lot of alcoholism, long hours, and sport fucking.

So he went to Law school.
