“Amb Hautas Espetativas – Expecting High – Rasko Itxaropokoak”

“I think I can speak for my country when I say that we wanted to bring the world together in the joy of sport. And even more important, we wanted to show the youths of the multiverse the importance of sport, fair play and good health.

Euskirribakondara has accepted the challenge, and right now, we’re welcoming with open arms the young athletes of the world. I declare the signups open for the First Winter Youth Games, to be held at our capital, Harrikes. Let this be an occasion to party, an occasion to train; come here, expecting high. And do it all for the youth, for the sport, for a better world.”

Harrika (King) Dago I of Euskirribakondara
President of the HOCYG (Harrikes Organising Committee for the Youth Games)

Opening Ceremony of the First NS Winter Youth Games
Harrikes 2012 (Euskirribakondara)
January 11th

The languages used throughout the ceremony are English, Euskal and Aranese. The attendants can be provided little earphones that give them the information said by the Stadium voiceover in Sirbadian, Armenian, Euskal Arabic, Taloan, Bantulu, Mikunan, Lillamut, Hinga (The other 8 official languages of Euskirribakondara) and Spanish, French, Mandarin Chinese, Russian, Standard Arabic, Chenkoryan and Dutch.

The venue is the Harrikes Olympic Stadium; its capacity is of 222.222 people; and right now it is with the roof opened, but with a transparent crystal mini-roof over the space left by the real roof. This way, the attendants can watch the sky, but do not have to stand the winds or the snowfall of these times. Nonetheless, today, there's no snowfall, and the average outside temperature is of 0°C (32°F), that's the same temperature in the football court (the stage from now on) as it is covered on ice. But for the seating area, there's a heating system that is bringing the temperature up to 15°C (59°F).

120.000 seats were reserved for the Euskirribakondaran audience. 20.000 were reserved for tourists from around the Fledgling Region; and the remaining 82.000 are for tourists from outside the region. 222 seats are seats for the special invitees.

Welcoming Intro

Postby Euskirribakondara » Wed Jan 11, 2012 10:36 pm

WELCOMING INTRO
BETINAPIDOGETIK INTRO
INTRODUJÒM DE BENVENUTA

All the lights were off at the Stadium. The opening ceremony would start at 20.20, and everything was ready. Everyone was anxious, and very happy despite the low temperature. The stage (football court) was totally covered on ice. When it was 20.19:30, the huge screen (that can be seen in the venue photo) started counting back from 30... on each second, the number changed.... it showed the seconds remaining for the start. The numbers were white, on a black background. When it was on 10, all the attendants started to count on their own languages, there was a lot of voices and sounds at the Stadium! When the 3 arrived, the stadium voiceover said the number in English (Three). On 2, the voiceover said it in Euskal (Bi). On 1, the voiceover said it on Aranese (Ùm).... When the 0 was shown, a lot of pyros were shot into the sky (they were white and blue coloured). And all the lights were turned on for a second.

Then, everything was dark again... except for the center of the stage. There was a tiny boat, and a little boy playing the national instrument: the duduk. He started playing at the side of the boat (like on the video). On the boat, a girl was holding a little sculpture... a Horereuski, a traditional Euskal sculpture that depicts happiness (the sun is always associated here with happiness and festivals).

Then, the little boy helps her descend from the boat, and they start walking towards a tiny iceberg that was in front of them. Then, she showed the Horereuski to everyone, as they cheered in excitement (like the girl shows the trophy in the video). Then, when they got on top of the tiny iceberg, they were ascended (with strings that cannot be seen) to the sky... When they "disappeared", the lights directed the attention towards the southern part of the stage. Girls from the Dance School of Harrikes were dressed in orange outfits, and around them, the popular Euskal group "HarrikesDrums" was gathering. When they formed a perfect circle around the girls, they started playing and the girls started to dance. It was the "Barloa", a dance where the drums 'ask', and the dancers 'answer' the rhythm. The rhythm is supposed to resemble a conversation... This dance was (and still is) used to bring good energies. (Watch the video until 5:20)

When the girls ended the dance, all the lights went off again. Now, just a bulb was pointing towards the northern side of the stage. There, we had a tiny pond of "water" (it was really a screen showing water). And over it, the flags of the 23 participating countries were shown in English alphabetical order (Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, Albertasby, Artsakhestan, Bergnovinaia, Carmadin, Chenkorya, Cyborg Holland, Hakkland, Homelands Our, Huntertopia, Landau Institute, Leokeren, Lymantatia, Mangolana, Monlyuxeburga, Puerto Candelaria, Soviet Canuckistan, Swalenia, Thatius, The Island of Aho, Vekaiyu and Western Cuba) but Euskirribakondara was missing.

After the Western Cuba flag faded out, the screen started showing a little whirlpool of water. Suddenly, in a very fast move, ten kids appeared on top of the screen with the Euskirribakondarian flag. The visual effect was amazing... It looked as it they had emerged from the whirlpool. They were dressed each one in the folk costumes of the major ethnic group they represented: Euskal (This but orange with white), Armenian, Valdaranean, Euskal Arabs, Lillamut, Eundarian, Sirbadian, Taloan, Hinga and Mikunan.

They walked towards the iceberg in the center of the stage. A tiny flagpole had emerged from the iceberg, and the kids with the flag standed in front of this tiny flagpole. In front of them, (in the floor) the words for welcome in eleven different languages (the Euskal official ones + English) were shown:

Betinapido! (Euskal)
Benvenuta à Tos (Aranese)
Բարի գալուստ! (Armenian - Bari Galust)
ترحيب! (Euskal Arabic - Tarhayb)
Velkomnä! (Lillamut)
Kuwakaribisho! (Bantulu)
Добро Дошовать! (Sirbadian - Dobro Doshovat')
Μα'αναωα! (Taloan - Ma'anawa!)
स्वबकन छे! (Hinga - Svabakana chē)
ᒐᑲᒪᓴᔭᐦᐤᐅ! (Mikunan - Ñakamasagahu)
Welcome! (English)

The stadium voiceover said each word as it appeared. When it was the time for english, the word "welcome" was zoomed in that much, that the word was all over the stage. Pyros were shot again, and the lights went off. The first part had ended.

ANTHEM OF EUSKIRRIBAKONDARA
EUSKIRRIBAKONDARAREN ERESERKIA
HIMNI D'EUSKIRRIBAKONDARA

After a short (about 2 or 3 seconds) time of darkness. The lights got turned on again. The 10 kids were still in front of the tiny iceberg with the tiny flagpole. Together, they put the flag in the flagpole, and after they had finished, HarrikesDrums appeared in front of them; now dressed in traditional costumes depicting 81 ethnic groups of Euskirribakondara. Among them, there were other instruments (other than drums).

The voiceover announced the act like this:
Ladies and Gentlemen, please stand up for the National Anthem of the Great Pluricultural Harrikía of Euskirribakondara

Then, the 122 integrants of HarrikesDrums, in perfect harmony, started the Anthem of Euskirribakondara:

All the people in the audience had sung (or at least tried) the anthem, it sounded magnificent and strong. Whilst the anthem was played, both the flagpole and the iceberg were growing, and at the end of the anthem, the iceberg (that now had formed a mountain) and the flagpole were huge! The mountain arrived almost to the roof of the Harrikes Olympic Stadium. The mountain was totally white. After the anthem, and the subsequent "Hoorays!" the lights went off, and one bulb was directed towards the flagpole and the Euskirribakondaran flag (this in order to not let the kids and HarrikesDrums be seen while they were leaving the stage).

ACT 1: THE MOUNTAINS
GAUTA 1: MONTIAK
ACTA 1: LES MONTAGNES

The lights were pointing at the flagpole and the Euskirribakondaran flag like at the end of the Anthem. Then, the lights were descending in order to watch the entire mountain (like this but totally white). After some seconds, we were able to see some Maitagarrenak (singular, Maitagarrena) flying over the stage. They were 22, and 11 of them had blue dresses, whilst the other 11 ones had white dresses. They started to fly in a circle motion around the mountain, and after some seconds, they started to throw "magical" powder at the mountain. Suddenly, as if this powder was really magical, trees started to grow in the mountain. All the stadium exhaled in amazement.

THE GAMES OFFICIAL SONG
XOKAREAKREN OFIZIALAKO KASTAREA
LA CANZÓ OFIZIAL DELLS JEUQS

After the artistic part of the Ceremony, all the lights went off. The stage is filled with water, and in the center (where the iceberg was) there's an island. On this island, we can see Ainoa Gertikyan, the most succesful teenage artist of Euskirribakondara, and 5 teen dancers. All the lights turned on again, and they had many colors (shades of red, orange and yellow)... And so, the song started, receiving a huge "woo!!!" from the audience (The song has the same chorus choreography as in the video; translation of Euskal words between brackets):

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Let's go to the Games
to the Games
Expecting high!

After the tiny opening chorus, the dancers retired, and Ainoa started to walk whilst singing:

I woke up this morning
With the greatest feeling of all
I now want...
To carry my flag

I'm going to represent it
My whole country, irabazgetik (For the win)
We're going to compete
And fill our hearts with the best

The bridge started with the dancers getting together and moving like an airplane:

And I know...
That doesn't matter what happens, we will all win
We'll make friends, we'll be happy, and we are going the have

The best days of them all!

Fire pyros were shot into the sky as the chorus started:

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Let's go to the Games
to the Games
Expecting high!

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Guztot: Esutxau zuetan (Good luck to all)
Esutxau... (Good)
ZUETAN! (Luck!)

She gave a punch in the air, gave a big smile, and gathered with her dancers whilst the audience cheered crazy.... She then started the 3rd and 4th stranzas, and the bridge:

Let the snow fall all this week
Let the ice stand frozen
The coldness of them
Will not be in our hearts

The mountains, we'll descend
The low temperatures we'll stand
The joyful spirit
Will lead, be our guide

And I know...
That doesn't matter what happens, we will all win
We'll make friends, we'll be happy, and we are going the have

The best days of them all!

A larger amount of pyros than before was thrown, and most attendants started to dance with the chorus choreography....

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Let's go to the Games
to the Games
Expecting high!

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Guztot: Esutxau zuetan (Good luck to all)
Esutxau... (Good)
ZUETAN! (Luck!)

The water around the island, was started to being shot into the air... It seemed like the dancing fountains at Las Vegas's Bellagio.

Et jo vull cantar (And I'm going to sing)
Jo vull cantar (I'm going to sing)
A la vita, al amor, al joi (To the life, to the love, to the joy)

And I know...
That doesn't matter what happens, we will all win
We'll make friends, we'll be happy, and we are going the have

The best days of them all!

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Let's go to the Games
to the Games
Expecting high!

Uo uo, uo o-o...
Uo uo, uo o-o...
Guztot: Esutxau zuetan (Good luck to all)
Esutxau... (Good)
ZUETAN! (Luck!)

As the song ended, the dancing fountains stopped, and a lot of water was shot into the air. She said "Thank you!" with all the air in her lungs; and all the audience standed up to applaud her. The stadium voiceover then presented the song title:

That was Ainoa Gertikyan with Esutxau Zuetan (Good Luck), the official song of the Games
Ixo Ainoa Gertikyan izaneka, "Esutxau Zuetan"arekin, xokareakren ofizialako kastarea
Iso fou Ainoa Gertikiàm amb "Esutxau Zuetan" (Boa Sort), la canzó ofizial dells jeuqs
