What is the single most pride-swelling moment in the history of your country, the type that makes you glad to say, "I'm from here, and I am proud of it." ?

The fall of Verdun in 2258 after 64 years of constant siege was perhaps the most so for our God-blessed Alliance, pushing through swarms of French infantry and tank columns to seize the city. Over 13,500,000 Frenchmen were killed in the decades-long siege in which whole generations were raised under fire, while only about 6,100,000 of our soldiers fell.

The most patriotic moment in our grand nations history was in 1996 when United Socialist forces stormed the royal palace, fighting for three days straight through the palace, in order to reach the roof where the crown prince was hung off the edge for all to see, and the official flag of the Central African Socialist States was raised just inches from his body. It has become one of the most famous images in our nations short history, and while the more modern leaders look down upon the barbarity of the act, they are still very proud of the liberation from monarchist pigs.

22. September 1929 - Day of the first uprising and beginning of the first voronda civil war. We lost that one, but still...the flames of revolution were ignited that day. And while the royalist scum managed to quell them for a while, in 1979 we tried again! The Brokdorf Uprising of 1929 will never be forgotten here, it is the beginning of the idea that today IS our nation.

Striking workers of the Eberswalda Steel Works in Brokdorf were gunned down while protesting peacefully, this resulted in outrage and riots all over Brokdorf. The city, even back then home to millions, quickly turned into a chaotic revolutionary state, the city-militia and local troops deserting and joining the workers. Eventually they were defeated, but the idea of monarchy was broken that time and in that place... from then onwards the people no longer wilfully accepted the "most divine ruler", and oppression took a new turn. The Battle of Brokdorf, august 1930, marks the end of the first civil war and the death of almost two million soldiers and civillians alike. This event, the massacre that followed the battle, was the direct reason for the events of 31st August 1993, on which day the Emperor and his entire family were guillotined in public.

Probably the Battle of Hades Gates in 2249, where the Imperial forces under command of the young Empress decisively defeated the joint human-Skargh invasion force that struck the Imperium as it was embroiled in a civil war. Imagine Stalingrad on steroids multiplied by a factor of 10, and you get the picture. While this battle was a Pyrrhic victory, it thwarted the invasion and ultimately resulted in a breakdown of human-Skargh alliance, which soon further deteriorated into mutual warfare.

Another one would probably be the completion of Imperial Spire, the largest single land-based structure in known space and the residence of the Emperor, in 2200, marking the heyday of the old Imperium. Standing nearly 20 kilometres tall, this arcology building houses much of the Imperial bureaucracy and serves as a residence of the Sovereign, headquarters for the Imperial Guard, the government building, and ultimately, as a symbol of all Imperium (much like the White House is a symbol of USA) and a monumental testament to Sidh technological prowess (and the late Emperor's megalomania).

The Battle for Kasr Derth during the Second World War in late 1940-early 1941. Basically ,this was like the Imperium's Stalingrad. The battle had dragged out for months against a combined force of Nazis, Italians, and Romanians which in total numbered 4,000,000. Imperial forces, outnumbered and outgunned, were slowly pushed back from the city's outskirts. Eventually, the forces that defended Kasr Derth had been reduced to a single under-strength regiment of Imperial Guardsmen, the 13th Cadian Rifles. They had been pushed back to the Hall of the Imperial Senate, which was nearly reduced to rubble from artillery, mortar, and cannnon fire. Just when the Guardsmen were about to lose hope, a horde of 15,000,000 Imperial citizens, Imperial Guardsmen, and Imperial Marines arrived at the gates of Kasr Derth. The commander of the force, Lord General Tegis Ulrand, personally led a bayonet charge into the heart of the Axis army. Although the battle as a whole had cost an estimated 1,500,000 Imperial lives, it was declared a day of celebration. The body of the Axis theater commander was hung from a flagpole, visible next to the bloodied standard of the Cadian 13th. Today, the standard as it was on that day hangs in the reconstructed Hall of the Imperial Senate, where there is a memorial with the names of those who died during the battle inscribed upon it, as well as a museum.

The Charge of the Dragon Regiment during the September Revolution of 1916, when the 111th Regiment, nicknamed "the Dragon Regiment" due to the vast majority of members being Dragons, led a wild charge against Communist positions on the far eastern side of Dinosaur Square. Many were cut down during the charge by the Communists' machine guns and rifle fire but nevertheless continued on to drive the Communists out of the Square. The charge was used for propaganda purposes during the Civil War and "Remember the Dragon Regiment!" was a common war cry of that period. In fact, during the May Coup, patriotic pro-Government militiamen were reported to have screamed just that when engaged in battle against the Communists. It remains a source of pride both for Saurisians and for Saurisian Dragons.

Perhaps earlier this year when the Green Republic declared its establishment and the abolition of the United Socialist States of H-Alba. Within an hour of its establishment, thousands of people flooded the streets partying, and singing rebel songs from the Civil war.

The Grand Revolution, in which an army of some 10,000 men and women of the Valdean Liberation Army defeated the capitalist regime of Shana Ganzhej and established the People's Republic of Valdea. The most famous battle of this war (Valdeans think of it in the way many Americans will think of the Battle of Gettysburg if they hear "Civil War") was the Battle of Dawningdown Ridge, in which the severely starved and wounded Valdean Liberation Army drove Ganzhej's forces out of their last holding point and into the bordering nation of Thalassa, having taken over the former regime's capital city, Kalsai, less than a week before.

A second war happened a few years later, when the now stronger VLA invaded Thalassa (which had since been taken over by Ganzhej's son), and obliterated the Capitalist movement entirely, annexing Thalassa in the process (it has since been divided into two provinces - Greater and Lesser Thalassa). The most iconic image of this war was the raising of the Green Banner of Freedom (the flag you see to the left of this post) next to the burning flag of the Capitalists on the roof of their Stock Exchange, which subsequently became the offices of the MInistry of Culture.

The Grand Revolution tends to invoke pride in the country as a whole, and the Thalassa War invokes pride in the nation's power to conquer over injustice.

EDIT: I forgot to mention the dates in the original post. The Grand Revolution took place between May 2010 and January 2011. The Battle of Dawningdown Ridge took place on 7 January, 2011 (which is also Valdea's Independance Day). The Thalassa War was short, and took place between 12 May and 3 September, 2011.

It was decided. Naturesocialistic Party of Aryaland declared that country had suffered enough. The days when 40% of the people were unemployed and welfare programs drained the economy were finally over. The party brought back the wealth and true face of democracy (note: it was later changed to dictatorship). Reichsplatz, Kotivere, 21:37. The people held their breaths when the old flag of Aryaland Republic was lowered. When the flag of newborn Naturesocialistic Aryaland got to the top of the flag pole and the orchestra started playing the new anthem, the crowd went literally crazy. Everybody let their tears flow in happiness and relief. Powerful celebrations were held over the country a week in row. The capital city Kotivere showed no signs of cooling down after a whole month. The new era had begun. The naturesocialist era.

The Battle of Apil hill that took place around 100 years ago (OOC: haven't set a specific date yet) when the Imperial forces of the Babeet Empire attacked the Emenean rebels under King Sumuel. Despite being outnumbered, the Emenan forces defended the hill from the Babeeteans until their reinforcements arrived. As the new forces joined the battle, the Babeeteans were forced to flee and lost over half of their remaining forces during the retreat. The battle was a disaster for the crumbling Empire and only days later they agreed to acknowledge Emenah's independance, ending the war.

A few years later the Empire would collapse completely and Emenah would conquer the nations formed from it.
