Welcome, gathered nations of Atlantian Oceania, to the thirty-third AOCAF Cup! Without a doubt the best regional football tournament in the multiverse (certainly far better than that rubbish Copa Rushmori), the AOCAF features some of the most historic footballing powers the globe has witnessed. Look no further than the region's flagship juggernaut Starblaydia, beloved and hated across the world for their dominance. (Although some say their glory days have well and truly faded away. They said it, not us.) Or perhaps Pacitalia are more your cup of tea? Having won three consecutive tournaments in a row does a real number on your confidence. Wait, I mean the opposite of that. Anyway, if you like torturous fandom, give Krytenia a whirl. Despite having one of the finest reputations, both in terms of football and international diplomacy, the Aces have made a rich tradition out of never winning anything.

Oh yeah, and Vilita's back. So they'll probably win it, right?

Or maybe you support any of the other esteemed nations that will be on show in this tournament? That's fine too; all will travel to the shores of the Federation to contest for the trophy.

So what is this unpronounceable country known as Kagdazka and Pazhujebu? Well, hopefully you've caught at least a couple news clippings about the country in passing, at the very least. But just in case you haven't, here's a brief run-down. (And by brief we mean not brief.)

Kagdazka is a cold territory in the northern part of the continent known as Calania. The country's terrain is a mix of mountains, taiga, and tundra. In the southwest, where a large percentage of the population live, it is considerably warmer during summertime than in other parts of the country. Kagdazka is nearly landlocked, but for a tiny corridor that runs along both sides of the Dyurtyuli River, which empties out into the sea at the port of Oktyabrsk. For years, Kagdazka was ruled by a pro-capitalist dictatorship to its east, and these corporatists brutally discriminated against the ethnic Russian Kagdaz minority, who for cryptic reasons have always identified themselves with the color wisteria. So terrible was the oppression from the east that all wisteria items, whether they were flags, bedsheets, microwaves, bicycles, or even flowers, were confiscated and destroyed on sight. Consequently, the name of this imperialist former ruler is not to be spoken by anyone in the country under penalty of death (don't worry, it's not Starblaydia).

Pazhujebu, formerly known as the Pazhujeb Islands, is an island territory in the far southeast of the Secocia Sea. It is 600 miles away from its nearest neighbor, Pacitalia. The nation is notable for having been closed off to the outside world from 269 to 1926 AD. The islands had never been occupied by any except the Pazhujebis and had never been noticed by cartographers until it was accidentally run across in the 20th century. The country's population are found to have been mostly genetically descended from Indian peoples. There are various explanations for this phenomenon; but the Pazhujebi story is that they were violently expelled from Rome by Claudius II. Pazhujebis are known for being frustrating at the best of times, and militant at the worst. They are vehemently protective of their independence, and have in the main refused to adapt to modern society or technology (though hefty exceptions have been made for the arms manufacturing industry and for the national monorail service).

Anyway, if there's one thing you got out of that, just understand that Kagdazka and Pazhujebu are joined only politically (and even then quite tenuously). Socially and geographically, they are highly separate. Residents of the two nations have accepted the union with the other, but generally prefer to fraternize with their own kind, thus preserving their cultures.

Despite both having regional languages (Russian and Pazhujebi respectively), Kagdaz and Pazhujebi people alike often speak good English. As part of a program established by the now deposed feminist dictatorship, citizens were required to learn English so as to create single de facto official language for the country.

Cars are banned in the Federation. Neither fans nor players should expect to be able to get around via that mode of travel. However, in Kagdazka, travelling via sleg dog is very popular, in Pazhujebu, private yacht services can take you from place to place, and in both countries, a privately-owned but nationally-operated monorail service can take you just about anywhere. There are three airports in the nation (one in Kagdazka, in Gelendzhik, and two in Pazhujebu, in Pkethat Šede and Urajbina, but visitors should avoid using air travel like the plague. See why here. Yeah, now that I've linked it, I realize that you have to scroll all the way down to the bottom of the section in order to read the relevant part.

Oh well, here's to assuming most people skipped all that crap anyway.

So anyway, this is what is known as the OP. I will update it almost-constantly with stadium information, draws, and links to roster posts. You may reply in various forms, either to post a roster or an RP. I will be doing the same, along with scores, asinine observations on postmodernism, and dietary advice.

Oh yeah, here's the bid post.

ARTICLE 1.

Twenty-one nations will take part in AOCAF 33. They will be split into three seven-team groups. Unfortunately, because we can't simply split the groups between the two countries of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, everybody's going to have to do a bit of travelling. Luckily, nations short on cash will be put into contact with cockroach-football-simulation-pit technology which, should they choose to use, will allow them to field a team of superintelligent cockroaches on their behalf from miles away. (Don't worry, we'll explain. If you have the patience to listen, that is.)

The top two teams from each of the three groups, along with the two next-best teams from any position in any group, will progress to the quarterfinals. Winners in that round will move ahead to the semifinals, where teams will play for a berth in the final proper, to be held at Zhevassi ZL's sprawling, palatial wooden stadium, where 96,000 supporters can assemble. (Losers in the semifinals get to play in the Third-Place Playoff, which tournament organizers are considering holding the middle of the Kagdaz woods next to Baba Yaga's creepy hut, as described in this RP. Of course, the Verisimilitude Police might show up and make us hold it in a 'real' stadium.)

ARTICLE 2.

The draw will take place on 13 December 2011. I will do it on IRC, but I have no idea when yet, so if you really want to catch it you should probably just be on there all day. What I do know is what the pots will be, so I'll post them.

Pot A: Kagdazka and Pazhujebu (7), Pacitalia (1), Krytenia (2)
Pot B: Cafundéu (4), The Bear Islands (6), Starblaydia (8)
Pot C: Valanora (9), Andossa Se Mitrin Vega (10), Dorian and Sonya (13)
Pot D: Burchadinger (17), Ang Grung (21), New Montreal States (21)
Pot E: 95X (33), Cosumar (35), Cheergirls (NR)*
Pot F: Legalese (NR), Kos (NR), Inis Na Dun (NR), Vilita (NR), Savski Venac (NR), Port Hawthorne (NR)

* Seven teams were not ranked, and one of them needed to go into Pot E instead of Pot F. I used random.org to draw a name out of a hat. Also, yes, Pot F does have six teams in it rather than three. Since they're all unranked, there's no point in splitting them up.

The draw is now complete. Here are the groups.

The two semifinals will be held at the following stadia: Praça de Prata and FKM Arena.

The third-place playoff will be held in the middle of the Kagdaz forest somewhere perilously near to the hut of the cannibalistic witch Baba Yaga. Players in this match will be forced to dodge trees, brush, and a small stream littering the pitch.

The final will be held at the Graha'ajat Stidiyama.

ARTICLE 4.

Twelve stadia will be used for this tournament. Here is a list of all of them, with hopefully-up-to-date little snippets of detail included.

Kagdaz Stadia
Stadium: FKM Arena
City: CMZ Metropolitan Area, Kagdazka
Capacity: 69,000 seats
Club Tenants: FKM

The cities of Chadan, Murmansk, and Zanduznyy are often lumped together into one single metropolitan area, in no small part because of the towns' uniform support for the left-wing club FKM. This club believes that positive football is as much political as it is tactical; that attacking play is equivalent to the poor farmers quest for social justice and that cynical defending is equivalent to the evil businessman's lust for money. Seem like an oversimplification to you? Yeah... those FKM fans are a bit nuts, and you can tell when you visit their stadium, a veritable industrialist workers' temple, adorned with socialist slogans, chain-link fences, and the like.

Stadium: The Ice Cube
City: Dyurtyuli, Kagdazka
Capacity: 81,000 seats
Club Tenants: Angels and Yastrabi

Kagdazka's largest stadium (situated in the largest city in the entire Federation, Dyurtyuli), home to two exceptionally wealthy teams in Angels and Yastrabi, is named as it is for two reasons. First of all, the stadium's huge cubic glass design gives it the appearance of a gigantic block of ice looming on the cosmopolitan metropolis' skyline. Second of all, and more importantly, it is located in the farthest northern reaches of Kagdazka, which is already a cold country as it is. But in Dyurtyuli the frigid air can give an unprepared visitor frostbite in minutes. Bring a jacket.

Stadium: Yuzhniy Veter Stadion
City: Gelendzhik, Kagdazka
Capacity: 51,000 seats
Club Tenants: Vulkan

If FKM are Kagdazka's left-wing club for over-educated socialist academics, Vulkan are the country's left-wing club for the genuinely poor and downtrodden. Another Gelendzhik team, this club's stadium is among the more scenic in the country despite its fans reputation for being destitute. The venue is constructed from dark red brick and pink clay, with four large but very simple stands on every side of the pitch, giving it the appearance of a large maroon and pink rectangle growing out of Gelendzhik's mostly-concrete cityscape. An absolutely classic locale for a football match.

Stadium: Gelendzhik Stadion
City: Gelendzhik, Kagdazka
Capacity: 35,000 seats
Club Tenants: Gimnasia

Gelendzhik's gray and stony architecture hides a history of class upheaval and racial strife. But from this history arises a deeply developed football culture, with a whopping four different Gelendzhik sides having appeared in the KPFA League First Division. One of those teams, based out of the eastern buroughs of the city, is the old and traditional club Gimnasia. If ever a sports team was rescued from the brink of destruction, it was when Unitopolitan newspaper tycoon bought Gimnasia and built them a desperately-needed new stadium, this one, a small but modern venue.

Stadium: Banditi Zaliv Stadion
City: Oktyabrsk, Kagdazka
Capacity: 40,000 seats
Club Tenants: Krevetka

You might not fancy a trip to Oktyabrsk, where this stadium is located, since it has a reputation as a seedy port city with a high crime rate. But in truth, you won't find many more scenic places to attend a football match in the Federation. Without a stand on the side of the pitch that faces the bay, where walruses float atop icebergs barking at each other, the venue is compact and lends itself to energetic and devout fans. If the stadium's walls (painted all over with art from local children) don't put a smile on your face, then the brewery next door probably will.

Stadium: Terpimost Stadion
City: Yayal, Kagdazka
Capacity: 13,000 seats
Club Tenants: Iguani

Hidden away down a gravel road departing west from the tiny village of Yayal, Terpimost Stadion is more nature conservation center than it is a KPFA League First Division stadium. The residents of this tiny southeast-Kagdazka town frequently and unabashedly refer to themselves as hippies. Recreational drugs are easy to purchase in this liberal haven, which isn't far from the much larger and more mainstream city of Gvardeysk. At any rate, little Iguani are a symbol for the bohemian culture in this unusual little town, as is their unusual little stadium, effectively just a couple sets of bleachers on two sides of the pitch.

Pazhujebi Stadia
Stadium: Therakham Velodrama
City: Mahathu, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 52,000 seats
Club Tenants: Therakham

The Therakham District of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu's capital has long had an inferiority complex when comparing themselves with their wealthy and arrogant neighbors from the Kuratmad district. (These hostilities are, incidentally, the focal point of the Mahathu Derby between Angels and Therakham.) But this recently-renovated stadium, home to Therakham ZL, is the pride of the black and blue half of the city. It's steep, almost vertical stands give players on the pitch the feeling that they are at the bottom of a huge cauldron, and its exterior is painted black with hi-tech blue LED lighting.

Stadium: Graha’ajat Stidiyama
City: Zhevassi, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 96,000 seats
Club Tenants: Zhevassi

The home field of Zhevassi ZL (the most successful club in the history of the Federation), this venue, the largest and most prestigious in the whole Federation, is nestled up in the misty hills east of the small town of Zhevassi and is made mostly from wood but meticulously decorated from pitch to stand to roof to entrance with soapstone sculptures, many of which are massive and built into the architecture. In Pazhujebi, the name of the stadium means "Stadium of the Planet," which tells a layman the sort of pride residents of the small Zahuj Peninsula village have in this grand park and in their club side. Visitors will enjoy themselves, but should be warned: they will get wet... it rains a lot.

Stadium: Praça de Prata
City: Mahathu, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 66,000 seats
Club Tenants: Angels

Home to the historic superclub Angels for half of its home matches, this venue is a famously imposing volcanic stone monolith growing out of the similarly stern Kuratmad District. As a sign of the district's traditional financial affluence and as an homage to the primary color of its home team, the stadium is adorned with rubies all around its exterior. Further, mirroring the archtictural traditions of the surrounding neighborhood, it has many right angles in its structure, vaguely giving it the look of a primitive, ancient temple.

Stadium: Emuzhezh
City: Emuzhezh, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 36,000 seats
Club Tenants: Raktaghav Hathi and Urnabhi

Recently remodeled, this clay and steel park rests in the middle of the medium-sized but isolated east-Pazhujebi town of Emuzhezh. It hosts one First Division match every weekend, as two Emuzhezh clubs are currently enjoying stays in the top flight: Raktaghav Hathi and Urnabhi. The two clubs have a long-standing rivalry, representing the conservative and liberal portions of the Emuzhezh population respectively. The stadium reflects this rivalry, with the seats on the south side of the stadium painted Urnabhi's white and pink, and the seats on the north side painted in Hathi's all red.

Stadium: Sampa Gumbada Stidiyama
City: Juvapanam, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 48,000 seats
Club Tenants: Juvapanam

With warm and lush public gardens stretching around the city, Juvapanam has to be one of the prettiest cities in all of the Pazhujeb Islands (also known as Pazhujebu). The city's iconic skyline is known for its stucco buildings and slate-green clay tile roofs. And the football club they've got hanging around isn't too shabby either; Juvapanam ZL are a powerhouse that won three uninterrupted First Division titles between 5244 and 5246 (Pazhujebi calendar). Their stadium is a microcosm of their beloved city, constructed from the same tan stucco and roofed with the same green clay tile. It sits in the middle of a large public garden and is across the street from a small zoo.

Stadium: Oberlander’ajat Stidiyama
City: Urajbina, Pazhujebu
Capacity: 41,000 seats
Club Tenants: Urajbina

The hub of Mahathan Pazhujebi culture, Urajbina is a deeply proud city; almost all residents still wear the traditional purple turban that symbolizes Pazhujebi nationality and identity. If you're looking for history museums, this is the place to be, but there are a couple gorgeous beaches too if that's more your cup of tea. And though Urajbina’s stadium pales in comparison to the size of other venues in the Pazhujeb Islands, it is one of the most beloved in the entire country. Nestled into an ancient neighborhood, the stadium was once a Roman-style coliseum and is now home to club tenants Urajbina ZL. The stands are mostly made of stone, but an elaborate draping system all around the exterior and interior of the stadium gives it the appearance of being made wholly of gold, red, and blue fabric.

The Burchadingan International Squad - Die Adler

Image

Manager: Markus Klogh

GK: Hans Lang - 21 - At 21 years and 11 months of age, Hans Lang is the oldest player in the team. He began his career at the Berlin Academy, and quickly established himself as a player to watch. He earned a scholarship to move up to Dynamo Dresden's academy at 16 years of age, where he won the club's coveted Young Player of the Year award, playing as the Youth Squad's number 1 goalkeeper. Aged 18, he was 'promoted' as the club's substitute goalkeeper, but failed to impress in his first 3 outings, effectively dooming his Dresden career. He was loaned to several Second Division teams, earning the praise of pundits for his imposing stature and excellent reflexes. At the same time, he was often criticized for his inconsistency, often being unshakeable in one match, to totally out of his depth in others. Despite this, Markus Klogh, himself only 21 when he joined the national team, has found the faith to slot him in as first choice keeper.
GK: Rudolf Hohenzollern - 17 - Prince Rudolf Ernst Hohenzollern, third in line to the throne, began football as a hobby, just like many of his fellow citizens of his age. While playing for his school team, Rudolf earned the admiration of a certain Deval Enke, then national manager, and was drafted into the Burcharest Academy. 3 years after his draft, Enke is gone, but Markus Klogh has decided to honour his predecessor and has included the prince as his second-choice goalie. Hohenzollern is no slouch in the net, and he's a good all-round keeper with no apparent speciality, and that's both his strength and weakness.
GK: Emil Pena - 21 - Unlike most of his compatriots in the national squad, Emil Pena did not begin his football career at one of Burchadinger's academies. Instead, after school, he enrolled in the University of Burcharest. It was here where it became clear he wasn't that much of an academic and much more of a sportsman, playing for the university as goalkeeper. At the age of 20, he dropped out of school and was signed by Coltea Brasov as their Youth Club goalkeeper. An extremely lanky person, this is Pena's strength and Achilles Heel, as although he is almost unstoppable with high shots, he's is almost completely unable to do anything about low shots.

DF: Hermann Stuck - 18 - Stuck started his career by joining the Leipzig Academy, and after just a year, earned a spot in VFB Leipzig's Youth Team. Stuck was instrumental in VFB's victory at the Jagermeister Cup, the premier Youth Cup in Burchadinger. His big break came when Leipzig's left-back, Philipp Zeiger suffered a career ending injury. VFB, suffering a shortage of defenders, promoted Stuck to the first squad at 17 years of age, and he promptly established himself as the new first choice. Despite his obvious ability, Stuck has been dogged by personal problems ever since his childhood. His parents divorced when he was 8, and his family has since suffered problems from the frequent household fight to suicide.
DF: Adrian Niculae (C) - 20 - Niculae was born in Hagi, near Burcharest, and attended the Burcharest Academy. His family moved to Timisoara when he was 17, and in the process, young Niculae joined FC Timisoara's Youth Academy. Originally a midfielder, Niculae was shifted to the defender's spot due to the club's shortage of defenders. Niculae was made captain of the Youth Squad, and led the team to an impressive 4th place in the Commerzbank Super League, the Burchadingan Second Division with a team that had a previous best of 15th. The next year, he led Timisoara to 3rd place, scoring 3 goals, and earning the respect of his fellow competitors in addition to the eyes of people such as Magnus Dyrekken of Dynamo Dresden and Markus Klogh, who made Niculae national captain with little hesitation. A superb tackler and header, Niculae rarely makes mistakes, but when he does, he almost always gets a card. Usually the red one…
DF: Hermann Paul Meier - 19 - A product of the Bielefeld Academy, a 15-year old Hermann Paul Meier refused offers from clubs such as Berlin Blitz to join his local team, FC Bielefeld. He made regular appearances in the Youth Squad, but he was unable to break into the Regular Team until his 18th birthday, when he came on as a substitute against Dynamo Dresden, the Burchadingan giants. Despite lacking the natural talent of other players such as Stefan Danner, Meier is applauded as a player with endless amounts of determination, never giving up and always giving his best, and it is thanks to this that he gets his chance at the very top.
DF: Wolfgang von Elius - 19 - von Elius, son of Reichsgraf Maximilian von Elius, the patriarch of a noble Rhineland family, originally didn't think himself as much of a football player. In fact, he fancied himself as a tennis player, and was a well known figure in regional circles for his ability as a tennis player. However, he also spent his spare time playing football, and he gained recognition playing for his school team in inter-school competitions. At 15 years of age, he hung up the racket and began focussing solely on football, eventually making his way into the FC Klon Youth Team, despite not partaking in any football academy whatsoever. He participated in 56 games for the Youth Team, before being promoted to the Regular Team. Renowned for his ball control, von Elius has a tendency of leaving his position to go forward, as in, the opponent's box, leaving a gaping hole waiting to be exploited.
DF: Philipp Peter - 18 - Peter was born in Freiburg, but spent only the first year of his life there, before his family moved to Nuremberg. Peter made his way through the youth ranks at FC Nuremberg before making his first team debut as a 17 year old at the season finale against Werder Bremen. He impressed the team sufficiently to be awarded a full 3-year contract. Despite having only 5 starts for Nuremberg, Markus Klogh has included Peter in the first team on the basis of his 'untapped potential', though most officials in the Burchadingan FA would much rather have someone with 'tapped potential'.
DF: Eugen Goian - 20 - Born in the historical city of Suceava, Goian signed for Foresta Falticeni, a local team, when he was 17. Racking up experience playing for the Youth Club, he was eventually promoted to the first team, celebrating a win on his debut. Unfortunately, it would be the team's only win of the season, and they were eventually relegated to the Super League. Despite the rather lackluster performance of the team as a whole, several pundits highlighted Goian as a star in the making. Goian is an extremely physical player, and he has racked up a rather unenviable amount of fouls and cards. This may be the reason Markus Klogh has decided to keep him on the bench.
DF: Cristian Klein - 19 - Klein began his career playing for Rapid Bucuresti, Burcharest's 2nd and less prominent club. After a year in the Jagermeister Super League, he and his club earned promotion to the Hemerwulf Premier League. Klien's first year in the HPL saw him score his first goal, scoring against Leverkusen. Klein is known to be extremely God-fearing, and has attributed his success along with surviving a close shave with death following a snake bite to his religiousness.

MF: Jochen Winkelhock (VC) - 21 - Winkelhock was born in Waiblingen, and attended the Stuttgart Academy when he was 13 years old. He began his career at VFB Stuttgart aged 17, and scored on his debut, earning the Englebert Bonus, a 10,000 Reichsmark award given to a player scoring on his debut. He spent 3 years with Stuttgart before moving to Star Burcharest, one of the Burchadingan giants. He began his Star career in style, scoring in the season opener against Berlin Blitz, and following it up with 7 more goals throughout the season. He was selected as the GGP Most Popular Player following the season. A good all-round player, Winkelhock is the national squad's free kick taker in addition to being Vice-Captain.
MF: Sebastian Krumm - 20 - Krumm joined FC Koln from FC Remagen as a trainee when he was 17, training alongside Wolfgang von Elius. He played his first match for the first team as an 18 year old. Initially, he played as a central defender, on the left-hand side of a back three. Krumm became a highly versatile player first as a centre-back, then a left-back. He then moved to left-midfield before establishing himself as a centre-midfielder. Krumm is the corner taker for the national team.
MF: Mihai Munteanu - 18 - Munteanu was born in Cluj-Napuca. He was considered one of the most promising graduates of the Transylvania Academy. He spent a full year with the FC Cluj Youth Squad before being loaned to Hoffenheim for first team experience. He returned to Cluj after a year, and established himself as the left-wing midfielder of the club, retaining this position for the national team. A speed demon in every sense of the word, goes by the nickname of 'Der Blitz', and has an impressive amount of assists for his amount of experience.
MF: Leonard Lotterer - 20 - Lotterer was born and raised by a middle-class family in Duisburg. He played almost all of his childhood football for his school. During an inter-school tournament, Lotterer caught the eye of Dynamo Dresden scout, Steven Hansen, who convinced him to play a game for the Dynamo U-16 team in a friendly against the Burcharest Academy All-Stars. Lotterer proceeded to score twice, and earned a contract with the team shortly thereafter. Lotterer was also a star in his school's tennis and athletics team, and he was awarded Athlete of the Year by his school for 5 years in a row.
MF: Arnd Korbel - 19 - Korbel grew up in Berlin and attended the Berlin Academy, quickly gaining a fearsome reputation for his blistering speed and ability to outrun the opposition. In his first year at Berlin Blitz, he scored 10 goals, and established himself as a fan favourite due to his bubbly personality. Other than his speed, Korbel is also known for his precise passes. His only drawback at first glance would be his height, rendering him unable to achieve much in the air.
MF: Marius Costin - 18 - Costin was born in Burcharest, and attended the Burcharest Academy. As a 13 year old, he appeared in a series of commercials for fast food chain G&M, doing football stunts to promote the Burchadingan Premier League. Beginning his career in the Burcharest Academy, Costin was picked up by Star Burcharest and earned a reputation as an extremely physical player. Costin is known as a tough tackling midfielder.
MF: Volker Schneider - 19 - The youngest of 4 children, Volker Schneider was born in Heidelberg, and attended the nearby Stuttgart Academy. Whilst his inability to head and his relatively weak shots tend to leave both himself and his team in some sort of trouble, Schneider makes up for it with his speed and his extremely accurate passes.
MF: Andreas Muller - 21 - Coming from the football-rich region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Andreas Muller started his career playing for second-tier side Landau, before moving to Mainz. He spent 3 years playing for the Youth Team, before making his Premier League debut at the age of 20, playing for Bayern Munich. He made an astounding start to his Munich career by being an important part of Munich's 6-1 mauling of Wolfsburg. More of a support-player, Muller prefers to setup goals instead of actually scoring them.

ST: Dimitrie Cuclin - 17 - Born in Sacele, Dimitrie Cuclin's outstanding talent was discovered quickly and after playing for Farul Constanza and Dinamo Bucaresti for a short period of time (2 years), he was transferred to Star Bucharest at the age of 16, being placed on the first team without hesitation. Playing for one of the Burchadingan football giants, he won the league and cup double in his first year, along with Rookie of the Year and Top Scorer honours. Cuclin is a very skillful and creative player and very often does unpredictable things with the ball. The majority of Burchadingan pundits often make comparisons between Cuclin and Markus Klogh, the latter considered the greatest Burchadingan footballer of all time.
ST: Rudolf Rosemeyer - 18 - One of the most complete strikers in Burchadingan football ever, Rudolf Rosemeyer combines his speed, composure, passing and power to become an extremely lethal element of Markus Klogh's starting 11. He played in Barmbeck Uhlenhorst and FC Saarbrücken before he joined Dynamo Dresden at the age of 17. Rosemeyer is a “two-footed” player. He provides perfect crosses with his left, but prefers to shoot with his right. Despite perfecting his ability in almost every aspect, one thing remains sorely lacking, that being his accuracy. His shooting power is intimidating to any goalkeeper, but very rarely has he been able to convert that into goals. Just as Dimitrie Cuclin has been paraded as the new Markus Klogh, Rosemeyer has been paraded as the new Wilhelm Sigmundson, and as with Klogh and Sigmundson, both Rosemeyer and Cuclin share a close personal friendship.
ST: Heinz Brendel - 21 - Very little is known about this member of the national team. Brendel has never attended any sort of football school or academy, and has never been signed by any football club. Markus Klogh has his reasons, but the Burchadingan FA have extreme reservations about giving someone totally unknown a spot in the team, when other 'more proven' players such as 20 year old Rudi Hartmann have been left out.
ST: Gheorghe Beta - 20 - A tall man at just over 6ft 6, Gheorghe Beta uses his physical size to give him an advantage whilst in the air, and indeed, the majority of his goals have come from headers. Born in Burcharest, he attended the Burcharest Academy, and was quickly signed up by CFR Cluj. Beta immediately impressed by scoring 10 goals in his debut season, but he was released following a flare up between himself and the board of directors. He was quickly signed by Berlin Blitz, where he quickly gained popularity amongst the fans. Scoring 5 goals in his debut year for the team, Beta was applauded for his number of assists, helping Blitz to its first top 5 finish in 10 years.
ST: Jurgen Vietoris - 21 - Jurgen Vietoris is famous (or infamous) for two things; his inability to not score in the Youth Super League, and his constant alcohol and drug problems. Vietoris attended the Mainz Academy when he was 13, and quickly established himself as a fantastic striker. Vietoris' combination of power and accuracy is feared (and often unstoppable) in the Youth Leagues, although he has not started a First Team game before. For 4 years, beginning when he was 16, Vietoris helped turn Mainz into one of the giants of Youth Football in Burchadinger, topping the scoring sheets year after year. It all came crashing down, however, when he failed a drugs test aged 20, being released by Mainz and being banned from all Burchadingan FA competitions for 6 months. After his ban ended, he signed for Hoffenheim, and quickly established himself as their sharp-shooter. Occasionally lauded as being better than Dimitrie Cuclin, Vietoris' major and perhaps only flaw is his continuing battle against both alcohol and cigarettes, something Markus Klogh has urged him to win if he wants a spot on the first team.
ST: Robert Ammermuller - 20 - Ammermuller began his career at the Burcharest Academy, but later joined the Monchengladbach Academy when his family moved to the aforementioned city. Ammermuller was released by Monchengladbach due to his small size, and was signed by Aachen. It was at Aachen where he proved his worth, scoring frequently, and helping the team secure promotion to the Premier League. While he rarely misses when he shoots, he is quite easily stoppable. His short height renders him almost useless in the air, and in addition to that, he is not very fast, and is often outpaced by his opponents. However, when in the right position, most goalkeepers prefer to pray.

"Hohenzollern International Airport... Home Sweet Home."

He'd been to the place countless times. Throughout his international career, this had been the departure point from the homeland, off to nations all over the world to begin Die Adler's campaigns. It began with the minor events of The Sific Games, to the 36th Baptism of Fire, and the endless stream of World Cup qualifying events, all of them ending in frustration and anger.

ending in frustration and anger...

Markus Klogh had known that sentence for far too long.

As he stepped out of the bus, he took a moment to adjust to his surroundings. The airport had changed, a lot. Markus was used to stepping out of the bus and grabbing a trolley at arms length, or having a sea of people rush towards the entire team begging for autographs...

"I guess I have to change my expectations..."

A platoon of SA troopers surrounded the bus. It was perhaps, slightly excessive, because nobody seemed to realize that the Burchadingan National Football Team had arrived. No fans or people came rushing towards the bus, or even looked at it for that matter. Markus found no trolley waiting to be grabbed at arms length. They were all lined up neatly in between two rails, and before Markus could walk a single step, a handsome young man came rushing towards him.

"Herr Klogh! Please, I'll take that," pointing towards his baggage.
"I, err, well, alright. Thank you."

He gave Markus a wide smile, took his baggage, and immediately got to work. There were a whole bunch of these 'porter boys', probably not much older than a guy in his final year of High School. Each one rushed to a member of the team, with the look of pride, serving the nation's 'heroes'.

"Well... That's new.."

Markus' thoughts were interrupted by a tap on his shoulder;

"Markus?"

Markus snapped out of his hallucination, his face meeting that of Wilhelm Sigmundson, his best friend and strike partner.

"Oh, hey Wil."
"You look a bit, lost... What's up?"
"Just can't believe how much this place has changed."

Wilhelm gave him a smile. He was a bubbly personality, forever smiling and with a voice that could be hard miles away. This was in sharp contrast to the modest, glum Markus, the hero of Burchadinger. Loved by the girls, loved by the fanboys, loved by the press.... loved by everyone.

Sometimes it felt like it was all a dream...

...sometimes a nightmare.

"Watcha think of the place?" asked Wilhelm.

The conversation descended into whispering.

"I dunno. Everything's in order, everything's done by the book, by the law. It's.... scary."

There was a short pause. Wilhelm took his time to think of an answer, eventually giving it with a straight face.

"The whole country's been like that since Fegelein came to power, Markus, you'll get used to it."

Markus wasn't so sure.

"I don't think I will."

The two looked each other in the eye. Wilhelm gave a grin and patted him on the back.

"It's okay Markus, some day it'll all come together for you."

Markus smiled back, but it disappeared the moment Wilhelm looked away. Burchadinger had become a very different place when Hans-Ulrich Fegelein came to power. Fegelein had revived the Burchadingan economy, he had retaken Bellof and had re-established the country in Atlantian Oceania. But this all came at the price of civil and political freedoms, among a host of other things. The secret police eliminated Fegelein's enemies, strengthened his dictatorship. His propaganda machine instilled a sense of national pride, security and good feeling into the minds of the volk...

..except Markus, who once again got caught 'daydreaming' by his boss, Deval Enke.

"Markus? MARKUS!"
"Yes Deval, I mean sir, or, um, Deval. Sor..."
"Cut it and get in line!"
"In line?"
"Yes, Markus. Stabschef Wagner is expecting us and we're late!"
"Oh, I... I'm sorry."

The national 24 began walking in line, accompanied by the SA platoon. They were meant to ensure the security and well-being of the team, but it only made Markus feel more insecure. Markus, forever observing and curious, realized they were walking into a passage he had never seen or been in before. His curiosity got the better of him, and he whispered to the SA trooper next to him.

"Hey! Um, sir? Whe...."

He was caught by the Scharführer leading the group immediately.

"WHAT IS IT?"

Markus was like a deer in the headlights, staring blankly at the commanding officer, with the trooper next to him totally still and emotionless.

"I.. I just wanted to know what this, um, passage is. I've never seen it before."
"It is a Special Persons tunnel. The Stabschef is of the belief that you would prefer an uninterrupted journey.", came the gruff response.

The group immediately began walking again once the answer was given, only to be once again interrupted by Hans-Mayer Hansen.

"Looks like it's not working because we've just been interrupted! Haha!"

The statement was greeted with disapproving stares.

"Woah, tough crowd. Sheesh..."

"Emotion. Sucked out of our souls. Great job Fegelein..."

The walk finally ended at the 'VIP Customs Checkpoint', a medium-sized room staffed by 10 customs officers, a host of police officers and decorated with a big portrait of Fegelein and a host of other national symbols. The Stabschef, flanked by two SA troopers, waited. As the football group entered the room, they gave him the national salute, almost by instinct.

"At ease."

"*sigh* Same old blabber I guess..."

"First of all, let me just say it is an honour to be in the presence of Die Adler. You have done this great nation proud on several occasions. However, there comes a time when failure is simply not an option. We have seen that path far too many times. I must warn you that this may be the last chance you have to show the nation that you are worthy of their support. We expect you to qualify for the Finals this year. Anything else, is pretty much unacceptable. Do you have any questions?"

Bernd Hansen raised a hand.

"What happens if we fail?", the question asked almost jokingly.

Stabschef Wagner looked at him in the eye, with a smile that could send shivers into anybody's spine. He walked towards Bernd, maintaining the grin. He got so close to Bernd that it felt as though he was about to kiss him.

But nobody was smiling.

"You don't."

His answer shocked the team.

"Gott mit uns! The nation shall be watching on!", the Stabschef said, as though his prior words had had no effect on the national team.

There was an eerie sense of silence. Nobody felt like talking. The heavy sound of breathing filled the room.

"Well, what are you waiting for? Please, be on your way!"

Markus was the first to walk towards an immigration counter. Eventually the others followed suit, but whilst others had their passports checked and returned, Markus was held up.

"Look here officer, what's going on? The others don't seem to have any issues whatsoever."
"There's a problem with your passport."
"A problem with my passport? Hah! What are you talking about? I just had it renewed!"

At this moment, Wagner intervened.

"Is there a problem, officer?"
"This man does not have the required papers to go on his journey. He doesn't have a visa and his passport doesn't seem to contain the official signature of the Ministry of Home Affairs."
"What bul..."
"I'm sure there's a mistake. Besides, this is Markus Klogh, he simply must be allowed to embark on his journey."
"I'm afraid he can't Stabschef. I request that you take him to the Customs Office."

There was a slight pause.

"It shall be done."
"WHAT? I.. I can't go to the Customs Office! I have a flight to catch!"
"He's right Stabschef!", cried out Elias Becker.

The Stabschef quickly resolved the issue.

"Now, now, there is no problem. You shall take your arranged flight, while I shall arrange for Markus to take the latest flight once his problem is resolved."

The team protested, but to no avail. Soon, Markus was separated from his teammates and friends, alone with Stabschef Wagner on the way to the Customs Office. No words were spoken, until a rather odd interruption by Wagner.

"Do excuse me Markus, I need the toilet rather urgently," giving him a smug smile.
"Oh, no problem Stabschef. No problem at all." Markus responded with an annoyed face.

"That's fishy, for some reason. Why would..."

*thump*

Markus woke up in a small, dark room, devoid of any decorations, and lighted by a rather miserable-looking light in the middle of the room. He found himself lying face-down on the dull-looking, grey floor, staring at his cut and bruised limbs. He hadn't time to recollect his thoughts as the door opened, with two SA men flanking Stabschef Wagner. Wagner stopped at the door, but the SA men proceeded towards Markus, with the same emotionless look on them.

"Wha... what the hell?"

One of them grabbed Markus by the collar, forcing him up onto his feet, while the other forced the barrel of his pistol into Markus' back. A stunned Markus found himself looking right into the grinning face of Wagner, who began laughing manically. Markus regained his composure and found the strength to force himself out of the SA's grip, and began to charge at Wagner. Almost simultaneously, Wagner gave the two the command to stand at ease. He then refocused his attention to Markus, who had suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Now, now Markus. There's no need to resort to violence, is there?" Wagner said with his smile still ever-so present.

There was no response.

"Hypocrite..."

Wagner proceeded to pace around Markus, with the footballer still standing still. Wagner then stopped right in front of Markus, and looked at him right in the face.

"Would you like a drink? I'm sure you're very thirsty!" he said, with a smile.

Markus merely looked him in the eye, before finally opening his mouth.

"Let's get things straight, Stabschef. WHERE THE HELL AM I?!", beginning his sentence with a stern voice, before ending it shouting.

The SA men raised their weapons, but instead of giving the order to fire, Wagner dismissed them. As the door closed behind them, the Stabschef refocused his attention to Markus.

"First things first, Markus Klogh, call me Ernst. We're friends aren't we?", Wagner said with a beaming smile.
"I'd rather not," Markus responded without feeling. "NOW ANSWER MY QUESTION!"

Wagner gathered his thoughts for awhile, looking at his feet, before answering the footballer.

"Very well. First of all, you're in Castelul Bran, or Törzburg, whichever tongue you prefer to use. Stasi uses this as their HQ now."

"What?"

"I'm sure you're wondering why you're here. Well, in addition to being Stabschef-SA, I'm Reichssportführer."
"Oh? And that explains me being put in a small dark room and then getting beaten up by some goons how?"
"I do apologize for that, Markus. It's... standard practice."

Markus merely glared at Wagner.

"Anyway, I'm Reichssportführer, and I oversee all aspects of sports, obviously. Der Fuhrer has been most displeased with Die Adler's recent lack of results, and he's tasked me with fixing that. Let's get straight to the point, I'm appointing you manager of Die Adler."

Markus stared in disbelief.

"Wha...What?"

Wagner took out a pen and a sheet of paper, and placed it on a small wooden table in the middle of the room.

"Just sign there."

Markus didn't move.

"Is there a problem?"
"Heck yes there's a problem. Why would I, Markus Klogh, want to move into a managerial position when I can serve your beloved regime as a player, something I can possibly do for a minimum of another 10 years?"

Wagner once again was slow to respond.

"Der Fuhrer has lost his faith in the old guard. He is, however, an admirer of you, and he's willing to give you another chance as manager."

Markus wasn't satisfied. He stubbornly hit back.

"I still don't understand why I can't serve as a playe..."
"BECAUSE DER FUHRER WANTS IT THAT WAY!!!"

Wagner's sudden outburst caught Markus off guard. The two found themselves silent, with the heavy breathing of the Stabschef keeping Markus on guard out of fear that he could strike at any time. The Stabschef moved closer to Markus, his face red with anger.

"You listen carefully, Klogh," saying the name with disgust. "We can do this the easy way, or the hard way."

Markus had apparently not learned his lesson.

"What's the hard way?" he asked, shivering in fear.

Wagner grabbed him by the collar, and then called a grunt in.

"Ja Stab..."

At precisely that moment, the Stabschef shot. The soldier fell to the ground, lifeless. The bullet had gone right through his heart. Markus found himself completely overwhelmed by fear. Wagner holstered his weapon as two other soldiers cleared the body of their fallen comrade. He turned back to Markus, who was now shedding tears, shaking feverishly.

"See what I did there, Klogh? I can easily do that to your family, to your friends, to the people you care about," Wagner said sternly. "Oh, I can do that to you, too."

Markus didn't know what to do. He was split. He hated Fegelein and his minions, but he feared death, as much as anybody did.

"I don't want to die.... I'm too young to die..."

He looked at Wagner with deep hatred, but at the same time with fear. He walked slowly towards the table, grabbing the pen, and then signed the sheet of paper.

Signed; Markus Klogh

He mumbled a few words to Wagner.

"I did it because I love football, because it's my passion, because I love the people I care about deeply. Not because of your fucking shit regime!"

Wagner gave a smile, took the piece of paper from Markus, and replied;

"None of that matters now. You may leave, have a nice day!"

Markus trudged towards the door opening it and making it into the hallway before something occurred to him.

"What happens to Deval? And where are the guys?"

He turned back, finding the Stabschef still standing where he had left him.

"Stabschef..."
"Yes Herr Klogh?"
"Where... Where's my team?"
"What team?"
"Well, you know. Deval, Wil, Max and.. You know!"

Wagner paced in the room, Markus looking on from the door. The Stabschef eventually stopped, his back facing Markus.

"I'm sorry Markus. They're dead."

(Evidently time must pass at a slower rate for this nation than it does for Bears Armed, because they’re still fielding a team whose composition is hardly changed at all from the one that made their international debut back in BoF33…)

Nation: ‘The Bear Islands’.
3-letter code: ‘YRU’.
Team nickname: 'the Braves'.

National Soccer Organisation: The ‘Team Chief’ (i.e. ‘Manager’) reports directly to the national government.
Home pitch: South Beach (This is only useable around low tide, which affects the timing of any games that ever get held there…).
Anthem: ‘We Are Best’.

Team Chief (= Manager): Listens-To-Parrots.
Medicine Man (= Doctor & Chaplain): Red Owl.
Physio: Moonshine (female).

______________________________________________________

This is the team’s starting line-up, until further notice _

Goalkeeper

Stands-Like-Oak (very tall, so that the ball’s unlikely to go over him & still be inside the net; good at reaching out to the sides without moving his feet much, too, although he can move around — and do so very well — if it’s really necessary…)

Defenders

Left: Stone Turtle
Centre: Turtle-Blue-Twin (actually a pair of identical twins, legally a single person under this nation’s own rules, who will generally remain close together and function as a single player…)
Right: Wide Boy

Defensive Midfielders

Left: Running Joke (seems to be as good at running sideways, or even backwards, as he is at running forwards… and is very likely to do so..)
Right: None-Shall-Pass (big and strong, but surprisingly agile for his size too; just promoted from ‘substitute’ to ‘starter’, and wants to prove himself…)

Offensive Midfielders

Left: Mighty-Like-A-Rose ('Game Chief', i.e. Captain)
Right: Harefoot (the team’s fastest runner)

Offenders
(Left to right…)

Running Bare (plays in minimal loin-cloth)
Head-in-Air (very tall, which is relevant for headers and high shots…)
Thunderbolt (takes kick-offs, and most ‘set pieces’)
White Lightning (another very fast runner; half-brother of ‘Moonshine’, the Physio…),

Substitutes

‘Utility’ (good in any & every position): Football-Wizard
"That deaf, dumb and blind Bear,
Sure plays a mean Football!"

Goalkeeper: Son-of-The-Moon
Defender/Defensive Midfielder: Leaping Walrus (wonderful moustache!
He was originally a 'starter’, ands wants to win that stataus back…)
Midfielder (Defensive/Offensive): Floats-Like-Butterfly
Midfielder (Offensive)/Offender: Stings-Like-Bee (non-identical twin of ‘Floats-Like-Butterfly’)
Offenders: Glows-in-the-Dark (one of the only two new additions to the team; he was on a fishing boat working downwind from Sorthern Northland when the latter nation self-destructed last year...)

Reserves

Defender: Monolith (the other new player, a very promising youngster, dark-furred)
Midfielder: Fast Girl (new to the squad, their first female player)
Offender: Hears-Strange-Ghosts (claims to be advised by spirits whom the team’s other members — and even their nation’s specialists in these matters — can’t detect… He was changed from ‘substitute’ to ‘reserve’, before the last AOCAF, due to perceived unreliability…), Son-of--the-Waves (a starting player until recently, but he was rather ill for much of the last year and there's soem concern about whether he's completely recovered yet).

(Their identifying numbers will be re-assigned before each match, on a complicated basis that I’m not going to explain here but might get around to describing in RP at some point…)

No more reserves have been named publicly yet, because to do that would be to imply that they would actually be needed which would be inviting bad luck, but they’ve probably brought a few along anyway….

______________________________________________________

Kit: The team plays in a variant of their normal clothing, rather than in a more ‘conventional’ kit. This consists of a ’churra’ (a sort of short poncho, that doesn’t extend far down the arms) in a red-&-black chequered pattern, held in place by a belt around the waist, with a leather breech-clout under this. They will play bare-footed, unless the organisers forbid this.
They don’t actually have an alternative kit: if circumstances mean that they can’t use their “first” one then they’ll play ‘topless’ instead…

______________________________________________________

If my opponent RPs first then
My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers: Y
Godmod Scoring Events: Y
RP injuries to my players: Y, but nothing too serious without prior permission.
Godmod injuries to my players: Y, ditto.
Hand out Yellow cards to my players: Y
Hand out Red cards to my players: Y, but not more than 2/game without prior permission.
Godmod Other Events: Y, as long as it’s funny…

Yes, these are all ‘Ursines’, but unlike the members of Bears Armed's football team they’re all males. They’re a bit less civilised than most of the people from ’Bears Armed’, and their version of the ’harrdiharr’ actually involves brandishing war-clubs (unless their hosts say “No!” verrry firmly…). Expect a modest number of travelling supporters, arriving in large outrigger-canoes and catamaran-canoes and beating loudly on drums to accompany their chants during matches…

Kagdazka and Pazhujebu's AOCAF 33 Squad Released

Qichechumadia Zhabi - It's been a rocky couple of years for Brutušam Erassi, the manager of Kagdazka and Pazhujebu. After the catastrophic Round of 16 exit from the Cup of Harmony, inflicted by totally unfancied Southern Cynocephali, many in the media and indeed in inner footballing circles have clamored for the former Urnabhi and FKM boss's head on a plate. But the KPFA has stuck with Erassi, giving him and his radical 3-4-3 formation the green light through the end of World Cup 57 qualifying.

In a tournament that, despite its prestigious reputation as the regional championship for Atlantian Oceania, was considered a warm-up tournament by fans of the Urchins, Erassi's redoubled efforts stumbled at first. Grievously adrift with three matchdays to go, Kagdazka and Pazhujebu rallied to qualify for the knockouts of the 32nd AOCAF. Though at that juncture the squad were dumped out by eventual champions Pacitalia, the squad seemed to look stronger as the tournament progressed. The most notable success story was the at-first unpopular introduction of Urajbina center back Aqhorassia Bhara as a starting defender.

The side looked more confident from there. They managed to finish second in Group 11 of World Cup 57 qualifying, only behind Jeru FC. This placing was enough to progress to progress to a playoff, which they won, thereby advancing the Urchins to the World Cup proper. The team did not look terrible there, but suffered a fourth-place finish following a brutal draw.

Bhara maintains her place in a side that has changed very little since then. Amongst the changes that did occur, defensive midfielder Eduard Winogradsky's excellent form for FKM has earned him a place in the starting eleven, and Aquillius Razava's dramatic, emotional return to Therakham has evidently put him back in the favor of the Federation boss. In attack, Thambi Zanga's pace-free contributions to the side have been rewarded with a non-selection; in his place the recently-crowned Pocoan champion Charha Chadi returns, alongside Therakham target man Ouamchi Pudibhišu.

Kits.

After several World Cup cycles sporting uniforms manufactured by a Cotdelapomais kit maker, the KPFA has signed a deal with the Pazhujebi sportswear company Hudhucharu Zurzhaq. News that a domestic manufacturer has taken over has pleased the more nationalistic fans of the side. The wisteria shirt, along with black shorts, is used for home matches; likewise, the white shirt, along with white shorts, is used for away matches.

Manager.
Image

In early 5249, the KPFA sent Baba Yaga a now-infamous memorandum, wherein the manager was given a list of changes she was required to make. Angry with these ultimatums, she resigned. KPFA officials have been cowering in their offices ever since, mortified that she will someday return to exact her revenge. The only thing they have managed to accomplish during their self-imposed refuge is the appointment of 48-year-old Brutušam Erassi, the Pazhujebi mastermind behind Urnabhi's truly miraculous stay in the KPFA League First Division and FKM's surprising 5th-place 5248 finish.

Erassi is persuasive and shrewd, and has orchestrated many a somewhat shady move behind closed doors in the past. Much of his work is done before his teams ever set foot on the pitch. Resourcefulness is his number one strength. Lack of charisma is his number one weakness. Tactically speaking, he usually favors the use of either one or three striker setups with a tall and powerful target man semi-permanently residing in the middle of the opponents' 18-yard-box. He favors physical strength over elegant technique, but will still find a way to use players that would rather keep the ball on the grass rather than play a long ball.

Formation.
Having established the use of an all-out-attack, Takil-errific 3-4-3 over the course of the last four years, Erassi brings the tactic to AOCAF 33. The formation sees a bank of three defenders across the back, though a wingback is permitted to push forward if one or both central midfielders drop back to cover. Ahead is another flat bank of players, with four midfielders. Ahead of this, however, are three forwards whose positions will be highly fluid, rotating around the pitch at various points during the match. One or more of these attackers are always powerful number-nine-style strikers.

Goalkeeper Zubeida Ichuvihaja maintains her place as captain of the squad, her calm demeanor appreciated by both her manager and teammates alike. Known for being exquisitely well-positioned at all times, she rarely needs to make acrobatic saves as she can cut off angles for strikers and make her own job look easy. Should her place be vacated (only possible if she is injured), Gašughumi and Yakoleva are options (the latter only a part of the equation following the tragic death of the promising young goalkeeper Yevgeniy Oistrakh, who took his own life during World Cup 57 qualifying).

At the back, Erassi has at last found a combination that he feels is stable, with Aqhorassia Bhara, Arkhip Tikhomirov, and Ryurik Mizirov playing in a flat and unadventurous line of three across the back. All three are center backs by trade, are highly experienced, and are unlikely to wander forward. However, should the Federation be in a hole, more dynamic substitutes, like wingbacks Klossovskaya, Makureru, and Ošafi, are available.

Starting midfield is set to look slightly different, as right winger Aquillius Razava and central midfielder Eduard Winogradsky emerge as newly-minted starters. The former has proven time and time again to be consistent and precise as a starter for the Urchins (even if dynamism and pace are total non-factors in his game), whereas the latter's poise in the middle of Sacha Chrétien's tactical master stroke of a midfield shoves him into the K&P spotlight. Yuzhissa Aghimaqaj has become one of the best players in the Pocoan top flight, and deserves his place on the left wing, and Kkrhumoq Ztnkk moves slightly to the right in central midfield in order to accomodate the left-footed Winogradsky. Midfield substitutes are as follows: defensive midfielders Ogorodov and Yakoko (who can be added for negative tactical purposes) and left wingers Thašighi and Zbruyev (who can be added for positive tactical purposes).

Fušia Oujadda has moved from midfield, to attack, back to midfield, and now back again to attack in her time as an Urchin. Whether she is better at one or the other is completely unknown. However, at least in recent days she has seemed to perform better the closer she is to the goal mouth, and since she is easily Kagdazka and Pazhujebu's best player, strong showings from Oujadda are critical. Joining her in the free-wheeling, swashbuckling strike force are Lyonya Filipov, a classical towering center forward and pundits' favorite, and Hridayaja Durai, the speedster who began his career in the youth system of Erassi's Urnabhi. The replacement options for these strikers are all of the target man variety (as that is Erassi's favorite type of forward); Chadi, Pudibhišu, and Yir can be added to assist in hold-up play.

Information for the Foreign Mahathu Herald Reader

First of all, thanks for buying our paper! We're a rather small outfit as there are a couple of big Pazhujebi-language papers in Mahathu we have to compete with, so we appreciate the business. Secondly, you have probably gathered that Kagdazka and Pazhujebu have two very distinct identities, and you're right. There is a metric ton of information about the Federation available on the country's NSwiki page, including more on this team and on the country's domestic league. Please feel free to give it a read.

The OP has been updated with the draw and a full tournament schedule, with stadium assignments.

Matchday 1 is scheduled for Thursday 15 December, with the cutoff being 03:00 UTC. Wait, I guess that would be Friday, 16 December, technically. Well, whatever. From there on out, scorination will occur every other day.

My name is Markus Klogh, recipient of the Blauer Max, Civil Class, Player of the Year and Top Scorer 3 times in a row in the Burchadingan Premier League for Dynamo Dresden, was once Top Scorer and 3rd Most Valuable Player in the Tyrrin Commander's League, and perhaps the most recognizable figure in Burchadingan sports...

No hold on, maybe that was too boastful an introduction.

Meh, who cares? I'm not talking to anyone.

Life used to be fantastic. I had my cozy apartment down Frederick Road, occasionally sharing it with my cousin, Adi, whenever he was in town. I knew jack about politics back then, in fact, I didn't care. If it weren't for Fegelein, I probably would still be under my shell. Therefore, I must thank him, and congratulate him on his success.

"Here you are sir."
"Thank you. Keep the change."

My 'wonderful new home'. Well, it isn't so new, I guess. I heard the government bought it from some aristocratic family whose political ideals didn't fit Fegelein's idea of a 'perfect state', and I've been living in it ever since the good Stabschef gave me the managerial post. If you ask me, I sure like the architecture. Very classic, even though I prefer the modern sort of things.

And here comes Wolfgang...

"Good evening sir! I trust you had a good trip?"
"Hello Wolfgang. The flight wasn't so bad I guess, but we got stuck in traffic on the way here."
"So I noticed. I was expecting you an hour ago! Please, allow me to handle your baggage."
"No thanks. You just prepare dinner. What do you have in store?"
"Roast chicken and mash, sir. I only have the sauce left to prepare."
"Excellent. I'll be in my room."
"Of course, sir."

Wolf is a great fellow. He does a superb taking care of this ridiculously large mansion, cooks like a 5-star chef, and most importantly, I'm sure he's not one of Fegelein's goons. I shudder at the thought that the only other person in my house should be someone from that dreaded man's, err, um, damnit. Can't find the word for it.

*knock knock*

"Come in."
"Sir? This just arrived by post."
"Thank you Wolfgang."

In this day and age of E-Mail and Internet, I really don't understand why they still send snail mail. You would think that Fegelein, with his worldly ambitions, would have given up on the slow process of writing or printing something and then putting it into an envelope, which then goes into a chute somewhere, to be picked up by some stranger who then delivers it to your home.

Postmen are dangerous people. They know where you live.

...enclosed is the boarding pass for your trip to Kagdazka...

All fine and dandy, but what if we have to go to Pazhujebu?

...arrangements have been made in the event that transport is required to Pazhujebu...

Oh, alright then...

...we have attempted to contact you by E-Mail, but it would seem that you don't check it...

Oh... Um, well, I don't check my spam box.

*sigh*

It's times like this when I wish Wil was still around. I wouldn't be in this awkward position where I'm talking to myself all the time. Sometimes, I don't know why I took the job. Yes, that bastard Wagner did threaten me at gun point, but still. Would it have been better to just, die? In hindsight, perhaps. They took away my friends, killed them in cold blood. Who in their right mind would believe the shit that the plane was hijacked by communist terrorists? I know Fegelein's cronies did it. What pains me even more is that they didn't find the bodies of Wil, Max and the two Hansens. That hurts badly. They were disintegrated for sure, in my mind.

They didn't deserve to die that way. None of the team did.

There's nothing I can do to change what happened. All I want to do is do my best for Die Adler, as I always have. I want to lead them to victory, I want to do Wil and the gang proud, I want to do the nation proud.

To quote that writer; Support my country? Always. Support my government? When it deserves it.

*knock knock*

"Come in."
"Dinner is ready, sir."
"Very good. I'll be down in a bit."
"Of course, sir."

"Thank the Lord it's all over! That was sheer, deliberate, unqualified masochism. To be delayed by some stupid workers strike at the airport, then having to cram into a monorail and then to top it off, a half hour walk to the hotel?"
"Oh shut up Rudolf, you pampered son of a..."
"Guys, will you shut up? We only have half an hour to get dressed and catch the next monorail for the draw. There are 5 showers in the bathroom, I'd suggest you all go according to your jersey number. Hans, Hermann, Wolfgang, Leonard and Paul. You get that?"
"Yes boss."
"Yea boss."
"Sure bo.."
"Oh just get on with it will you?"

As a player, I never truly understood how much pressure Deval had on his shoulders. The deadlines, the media. Now that I'm in his place, I fully understand his frustration. Karma's a bitch... When I look at Dimitrie and Rudy Rosemeyer, they remind me. They remind me of Wil and the times when we were happy-go-lucky fools being a constant pain in Deval's poor ass...

"I don't understand Markus, the boss should have arrived half an hour ago."
"I wouldn't give it much thought if I were you, Max. He's probably having trouble choosing which pair of shoes to wear, eh Wil?"

*nudge*

"Well. In that case I..."

*ring*

"See Max? I'm sure that's good old Deval Enke waiting for your appearance at the door!"
"We'll see. Ah, boss! We were starting to get worried! Anything we should know about?"
"Oh, nothing at all! nothing... at all. Except that some smartass decided to put huge lumps of butter into my finest pair of shoes!"
"Hehe..."
"Is there something you would like to say, Markus?"
"Oh nothing boss! Absolutely nothing. Why would anyone with a big heart do something as cruel as that! Eh Wil?"

*nudge nudge*

"Now now boss. Please, let me take your hat."
"That's very kind of you Max, here you... Err, here... Confound it! It's stuck to my head!"
"Don't be silly boss! Come here, I'll take it off for you."
"Max I wouldn't.. OW-W-W!!!! Don't do that! Let go!!"
"Hehehe... HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!"
"Good thing he's bald, eh Markus! HAHAHAHA!!!"
"Markus Klogh and Wilhelm Sigmundson. I SWEAR you will get it from me one day!"

"Boss?"
"Yes Heinz?"
"Who aren't we going to face in the group stage?"
"From memory, I think Ang Grung and New Montreal States are in our pot."
"That's not very helpful is it?"
"Maybe, maybe not. Depends on your perspective. Clear some 'tougher' opposition in the group stage and get some slightly easier teams in the knockouts, or likewise. But like I've said time and time again, I don't believe there are 'tougher' or 'weaker' teams. If you play superb football, anything is possible."
"Of course. Thanks boss."

I like that Heinz. People don't understand why I picked him to be part of the squad, and in fairness to them, their concerns are well justified. How would you like it if your boss promoted someone many positions below you to become his executive officer when you had been tipped to take that post for ages? Rudi probably hates me right now, but I've seen Heinz's struggle, and I've seen him play beautiful football. It was total chance. 2 years ago I was scouting the country for my super team. The bus broke down near a rural area, and against the orders of my 'superior', I decided to take a stroll. I came upon a field, if you could even call it that. Bumpy with holes and lots of dead grass, the thing wouldn't pass a BFA Inspection any time soon. There were a bunch of teens playing football, 7-a-side. Time and time again, this guy dribbles his way past defenders, shoots and scores time after time, and yet manages to refrain from performing any arrogant celebration. After the match, I followed him to his measly wooden home. I met his mother, a widow. To my surprise, they both knew who I was, and I appreciated that. That moment my 'superior' arrived. He ordered me to leave, but I ignored him. I asked Heinz point-blank if he wanted to join the national team. He was shocked, and turned to his mother. She told him to go, despite his concerns about her well-being, but I told him I would take care of all that. And so we the bus left, with the addition of a thin, grubby fellow. He's a nice, polite guy, and he'll do his mother proud. I'm sure of that.

"Hurry up guys! 5 minutes per shower, quicker if possible!"

"Looks like we're just in time. Everyone's heading in."
"Rudolf, everybody heads in when they arrive. This isn't one of your royal parties, where..."
"Jurgen, do you have to comment on everything he says?"
"But Boss!"
"..."
"Pfft, this is stupid. Whatever you say boss."

Sometimes, I don't feel like myself. Markus Klogh the football player would never have cared. In fact, there would be a chance he would join in. However, this isn't Markus Klogh the football player, it's Markus Klogh the manager, and Markus Klogh the manager must maintain order, or something like that. Whatever it is, he does an awful job at doing it.

Hmm, nice hall...

"Ladies and gentleman, welcome to the draw for the 33rd Atlantian Oceania Confederation of Association Football Cup. Before we begin the draw, we would like to once again present the 6 pots. In pot 1 are the hosts, Kagdazka and Pazhujebu, along with reigning three-time champions Pacitalia and Krytenia, third place for three cups in a row. In pot 2, Cafundéu, two-time Cup of Harmony champions, The Bear Islands and Starblaydia, 5-time World Cup champions and 6-time AOCAF Cup champions. In pot 3..."

"Boss?"
"Yes Heinz?"
"It looks like we are going to get some big names no matter what."
"Is that a problem?"
"Well, it's a big challenge."
"I like challenges Heinz. They bring the best out of you. Trust me."

"And now, the group draw for the 33rd AOCAF Cup..."

What's that thumping sound? Oh, it's just my heart. Damnit, I just wanna get out of here!

"Group 1 - Cheergirls..."

Cheergirls. I recall playing against them a few times, and I can't remember anything about their tactics. Great player-turned-manager I am...

"...Burchadinger..."

Well, looks like I should have remembered. Bad on me...

"...Starblaydia..."

No, no, NO! I really don't care what they say about their interest in football waning. Starblaydia are Starblaydia, and nobody can change that fact...

"...Valanora..."

Them too? Are we supposed to be jinxed or something?

"...Kagdazka and Pazhujebu..."

The hosts? We're drawn with the hosts? That's not going to do us any favours at all.

"...Vilita..."

The returning Vilita. I'll admit I don't know much about them, but they are AO legends, and quite a few have tipped them with a decent shot.

"...Legalese..."

Legalese... They sound familiar.

"Group 2 - Savski Venac..."

"Psst, boss?"

Hmm, the whole team is looking at me. I guess something is up.

"Yes Adrian?"
"Starblaydia, Valanora, K&P, Vilita."
"You say that with a smile, Adrian."
"You taught us to love challenges, to want them. We have a huge one on our plate, and this is our first international. Any reason not to be happy?"
"I can only smile at that, Adrian.... Are you guys, ready?"

They are smiling at me, I'll assume that's a yes. Well, I'll smile back.

Home Away Third

Manager
Seydiya At’rod’uin (Andossa Se Mitrin Vega) (F)
Age: 27
A young Vegan who seems a brilliant tactician in the making. The youngest person to have ever filled a role in the Vanorian national team system, she has been appointed manager after Sloan's failure to get to the quaterfinal stage in back to back tournaments.

Assistant Manager
Clin Massai
Age: 10, 792
The mind behind Hondo FC's rise to power, he looks to be another one of the assistants who plays mediator between the manager and the staff. Given that the entirety of the AOCAF squad is domestic based, it may be that Massai was chosen due to his knowledge of the players to best aid At'rod'uin in guiding the Marauders.

Keeper

1 Veryasirion Dart, Raynor City United
Age - 664
Sex - M
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 181 lbs
The back up who has finally been given a chance to show that his success at the domestic level is no fluke. With the entire starting eleven being reserves, Dart will undoubtedly have much work to do, at least in the initial stages of the tournament, until the backline gets some cohesion.

Defenders

2 Artemis, FC Therathor *
Age - N/A
Sex - N/A
Height: 6'2"
Weight: 170 lbs
Still the first and only Templar to make it to the national team. While their size and strength intimidates most attackers, Artemis does have a surprising quickness to recover when they are beat by attackers.

3 Ainglad Gwavaul, Hondo FC ~
Age - 648
Sex - M
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 140 lbs
A hybrid defender who can play as a wingback or a full back. One of the more aggressive defenders to make it on the team and will take chances to go up the flank and use his exceptional crossing ability to generate attacking opportunists.

4 Indódil Gaethmyr, Mar Sara FC
Age - 776
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 162 lbs
A traditional centerback who is strong in the air and good with their feet. Gethmyr plays deeper than the rest of the line, lacking the same pace as other defenders.

Midfield

8 Innathwen Tathmin, Club ESF
Age: 819
Sex - F
Height: 5'8"
Weight: 122 lbs
A prolific playmaker who knows when to get forward into the box and add an extra attacker to harass the defense.

5 Rochenion Falaval, Club ESF (M)
Age - 734
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 162 lbs
Falaval is a center midfielder who likes to get stuck in and cause disruption in the opponents attacks. Not a player to get forward often, leaving that to the wingers and attacking midfielders in front of him, his priority is being the initial front against opponents attacks.

6 Elarwen Tallaion, Juavi FC
Age - 695
Sex - F
Height: 5'9"
Weight: 137 lbs
Tallaion is your standard winger who makes the best of her ability to pick apart defenses with pinpoint crossing and exceptional dribbling ability.

7 Menransta Ortauré, Raynor City United
Age - 698
Sex - F
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 140 lbs
Tall, graceful, and with a powerful shot, Ortauré is pleased to be given the chance to show that she is Marauder material. She moves through defenses like a hot knife through butter and is a scoring threat from just about anywhere in the attacking third.

10 Arten Silvermark, Raynor City United
Age - 697
Sex - M
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 168 lbs
Molded in much the same fashion as Laborious Hawk, Silvermark is an attacking midfielder with a know of threading through the perfect pass for strikers. Silvermark lacks the nose for goal that Hawk has, but his ability to read the opposition and find their weak points is second to none.

Strikers

9 Rharanthea Kithaldar, Soldarian FC
Age - 796
Sex - F
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 139 lbs
A solid scorer to lead the frontline, Kithaldar is expected to make the starting line up for the next World Cup squad.

11 Ardaugien Ealomiel, Mar Sara FC
Age - 772
Sex - M
Height: 6'0"
Weight: 164 lbs
More of a hold it up forward, Ealomiel is a calm and steady influence on the squad. He takes his shots well when the opportunity arises but is generally looking to hold onto possession as the rest of the attackers get into scoring positions.

Subs
12 GK Draugwë Nororon - age 781 - Mar Sara FC (M)
13 GK Belltarion Nartalhûn - age 694 - AC Valanari (M)
14 CB Tandion Aeraglinaeth - age 750 - Soldarian FC (M)
15 CB Revhil Lardireil - age 624 - Hondo FC (M)

The Football Asociation of Savski Venac held a press conference a few hours ago.
They stated that they are optimistic for the first Savski Venac AOCAF match in our history of football.
We are in a unexperienced group of teams,we think that our competetions in other football cups gave our team some experience,
and because of thet we think that we will advance to the knockout stage.
says Janez Stotski The President of FASV.

THE CAFUNDELENSE WOMEN'S NATIONAL TEAM
Current Olympic champions participate in the AOCAF

Style is +2

Goalkeepers

1- LAURA Ranielli
Team: Acadêmica - Rating: A - Age: 25 years old
Playing for one of the teams with the largest fanbase in the Cafundelense Women's Division, which will probably start to slowly merge with the main league soon, Laura is a very trustworthy goalkeeper, and has been one of the main players of Cafundéu's team for a while. She is very competent and determinated, but somewhat suicidal. She works so hard that makes dangerous and risky moves many times. Luckily, she is good enough to hardly make a mistake even in those moves. When on vacation, Laura stays outside of the big cities and travels to the countryside, avoiding the media whenever possible.

12- MARCELLA Campos Mathias
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: B - Age: 22 years old
Main rival of Laura for the prizes for goalkeepers in the league, Marcella's lack of experience led to she going to the bench in the National Team. But no one can deny she has a lot of talent, and sometimes can even start ahead of Luana in games, as it happened in the Summer Olympics. Marcella is far from eccentric or risky while playing, and plays safe, sometimes too safe.

22- Helena Genovo CASTRO
Team: São Longuinho - Rating: C - Age: 31 years old
A far more experienced player than the other goalkeepers, Castro is not at the talent level of the other two, but her years of experience put her as a good option in case a substitute is needed. As she know she probably won't play, she acts more outside the pitch, acting as a mentor for the younger players and keeping the team united with her jokes and games, something she loves to do.

Full-backs/Wingers - Right

2- BÁRBARA Yukine Assis
Team: Metropolitano - Rating: B - Age: 26 years old
One of the few exceptions, Bárbara wasn't a starter in the Summer Olympics, but a direct substitute. But, in the two years that have passed, Carlinha didn't manage to keep the good level of performance that sent her to the National Team in her club, Juventude, and lost her position to Bárbara. Probably the quickest player of this squad, Bárbara can support well the attack, one of the major reasons why Fernanda Garcia uses wingers instead of full-backs. With good crossing abilities, many chances can come from her. When she is not playing, Bárbara gets involved in many controversies involving betting, and her addicition has let to many critics.

14- Carolina Ferreira "CAROL" NEVES
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: B - Age: 21 years old
Young talent of Cafundéu, Carol Neves impresses everyone with her fast development, and outstanding skills missed with a childish attitude. She is a great passer, with good vision of the game, surely a raw gem. On the other way, she constantly argues with the referee and other players, and can't stand critics. She will only become a top player when she manages to improve her attitude.

Full-backs/Wingers - Left

6- NATÁLIA Gonçalves Coltti
Team: Carandirú - Rating: A - Age: 20 years old
This intelligent player is the only representative of the Carandirú team, which is not a top one in the women's league of Cafundéu. Only recently she got her talent recognized by the experts, and most are predicting a phenomenal future for her. She is a quiet player, but very good in the tactical aspect of the game and in creating good moves for the team. Also, is a goot set pieces taker. Apart from playing football, Natália also still goes to college, but is still at the beginning of her Medicine course. It isn't certain if she will have to abandon college to play football.

16- AMANDA Jamelli BUENO
Team: Real de Tijhus - Rating: C - Age: 28 years old
Amanda was expecting to become a starter of the National Team after the long-term injury of Renatinha, the Olympic member. But the ascension of Natália as a key member of the Consumerists put Amanda on the bench. She is a fine all-around player, and that's her main flaw: she doesn't have a particular specialty, works well at every aspect of the game, but not at the level of world class players.

Central Defenders

3- ALINE de Carvalho MUNIA
Team: Acadêmica - Rating: B - Age: 32 years old
Oldest player of the squad, is surely the most experienced, devoting nearly her entire career to the National Team. A strong, sometimes violent player, Aline Munia is the defensive fortress of the team, defending Cafundéu from the opponent attackers. She isn't good in the technical abilities, so she hardly goes to the attack, even when the team is desperate to score a goal. Lately, her career has been plagued by injuries, and she is planning her retirement from football. Even being so tough in the game, she is very respectful to the opponents, a fair play example.

4- Beatriz Schmitt "BIA"
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: A - Age: 25 years old
The leader and captain of the team, although the best player is considered to be Ana Paula. Bia is the most talented defensive player of the team, being able to leave defence in order to attempt offensive moves, and sometimes even dribble opponent attackers in a humiliating manner. Always smiling, Bia is a charismatic leader, but very demanding to her team mates. Her physical condition is at a peak level, so she may play all the games until their ends. She is also very friendly to the media and press, loving to give interviews and commenting about how things go with the squad.

5- GIOVANNA Stábile
Team: Atlético Central - Rating: B - Age: 27 years old
Stábile is the least famous of the three starting defenders, but a solid one. She hardly shine in a game receiving praise, but never does a bad job on the pitch. Tackles well, marks well, sometimes can even adventure herself in the attack, but this usually doesn't work well. Giovanna doesn't care much of her status in the team, she is glad to be just a starter, and has the confidence of the coach, which is more important.

13- DÉBORA Macedo Kavene
Team: Metropolitano - Rating: C - Age: 24 years old
One of the biggest problems of the current Cafundelense Women's National Team is that there aren't options at the level of the 3 starter central defenders in the reserve. This isn't to be offensive to the other players, just the truth. But Débora, even not being at the top level, is a competent defender, very defensive, who can fill a gap in the defence without any problems for the team.

20- Alessandra Fauver Low "ALÊ"
Team: Acadêmica - Rating: C - Age: 22 years old
Paulinha can be the first reserve option in the central defence, but it is Alê the real promising defender in this squad. Recently signed by Acadêmica, Alê is a short player, but impressively good at jumping and with the ball on her feet. Unexperienced, Alê is not ready for a World Cup, but may get some chances as long as she improves. Outside the pitch, loves to go to parties, which can be a problem when she drinks too much.

Defensive Midfielders

8- KELLY PAREDES Higienópolis
Team: Juventude - Rating: B - Age: 29 years old
A controversial decision to include in the National Team, as Kelly Paredes expressed her dislike of the CFFC methods. Excellent passer and one of the best tacklers of the squad, Kelly is a hard working player, the only one that is good enough for Garcia to field a single defensive midfielder in her formation. Her problems with the CFFC are due to the conditions of the women's league in Cafundéu, which receives less media exposure, something the condemns. She is one of the defenders of a merge between the two leagues in the country, and even of a merge between the CFFC and CCFM which, according to her, would be a way for the world to finally notice the Cafundelense female players.

15- REBECCA Volwmir Juremar
Team: São Longuinho - Rating: B - Age: 23 years old
Born in a foreign country, Rebecca has been living in Cafundéu since young age, and now is a full Cafundelense citizen. Having difficulties to create relationships with other people, her parents put her in a sports club where she would have contact with teachers, doctors and friends. And this not only helped her in personal life, but also in the professional one, as she grew up to become a good midfielder, captain of her team, and now a member of the National Team. Raised in a poor family, her life story became a popular propaganda tool to promote sports as a way of personal development.

18- FABIANA Rabelo
Team: América Jutense - Rating: C - Age: 24 years old
A player who was supposed to be a star of the Cafundelense team by now, but has failed to meet the expectations. A member of the squad since twenty years of age, has played for Clube Imperial but, after bad performances, returned to her first team. Even not being the player people expected her to be, she is still good enough to play for the National Team, although just as an option.

Offensive Midfielders

7- FERNANDA Silveira Caldas
Team: Acadêmica - Rating: A - Age: 27 years old
She divides the opinions of who is the best player of this team, even though most end preferring her friend and NT team mate. Fernanda is the more creative and technical player of the offensive duo. She is the dribbling genius of the squad, who has tons of fans duo to her beautiful moves. Her finishing isn't as good as her dribbling, but her individual players, when she dribbles many players in a row, can easily end with goals. Sometimes her opponents consider her dribbles as a way to humilliate them, but she does that only to have fun. Outside the pitch she frequently appears on tv shows to show her artistic talent with the ball.

11- ANA PAULA Freitas Gamma
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: A - Age: 23 years old
The most complete player of the team, this girl makes a perfect duo with Fernanda in the National Team. She is a good dribbler too, not at the level of Fernanda, but her other qualities make people consider her a better player. She is very good at shooting, in any ranges, and manages to make offensive moves with ease. Another curious talent of Ana Paula is to score olympic goals. Her corner kicks aren't dangerous because of the crossing, but because they are aimed directly to the goal! She also impresses many people with her beauty, earning a lot of money by appearing in advertisements, but rejecting many proposals that use only her beauty, and not her fame as a footballer.

17- ISABELA Mariani
Team: Real de Tijhus - Rating: C - Age: 26 years old
A reserve in the Olympic squad who will continue being just a reserve in this team. Isabela is a good player, especially with her long ranged shots that can surprise even the most elastic of the goalkeepers, but there is no way she can compete with Fernanda and Ana Paula for a starting position. Now she will have to compete even against Sabrina to be the first choice substitute.

21- Maria SABRINA Álamo
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: B - Age: 21 years old
Close friend of Ana Paula inside and outside the playing field, Sabrina has a humorous character, every getting herself into comical situations, and loving to make fun of others and of herself. As a football player, Sabrina is good in making the link between the defensive and the offensive midfield, and works well in holding the ball for a long time, being the best option for a defensive approach of the game.

Forwards

9- Daniela Britto Lopes "DANI"
Team: Clube Imperial - Rating: A - Age: 25 years old
The offensive midfielders may be the most praised players in the squad, but it's Dani the one who gives the Consumerists the most important thing in a football game: the goals. Taller than most players, Dani is good at heading, and her good positioning also gives her the condition to be always with good scoring chances. Her dribbling is only average, many other attackers are better, but her good positioning and finishing ability make the difference. The target woman inside the area, most of the offensive moves of Cafundéu will end with a Dani shot.

10- VANESSA Dourado Nascimento
Team: Juventude - Rating: A - Age: 26 years old
A better dribbler than Dani, Vanessa is the attacker who manages to take the ball deep in the midfield and use her speed to reach the attack through an individual play... and then pass the ball to Dani. Vanessa scores far less goals, but is very important too. But she has a major flaw: her form is very inconsistent. One day she plays very well, the other day she makes plenty of mistakes... but even with this problem she is a trusted player of the squad. Ah, there is another flaw: Vanessa gets angry with ease, and can collect some cards during the competition.

19- ANA CLARA Vergara
Team: Acadêmica - Rating: B - Age: 19 years old
The true future star of this team, Ana Clara is the one who everyone wants to see playing in this Women's World Cup, just to see if all the hype around her is fair or not. Ana Clara is supposed to be a complete striker, but has played only a single full season so far. Due to her popularity in the media, she is a very loved person by the fans, and there is a huge pressure over her. When Vanessa underperforms, it is likely that Ana Clara will receive a chance. A curiosity about her is her strange fashion taste, which is... well, strange.

23- JÚLIA Panete PEREIRA
Team: Metropolitano - Rating: C - Age: 30 years old
The "Panther", as she was usually called during her peak, had better days in her career, but is still a capable player and a good option for this team. Experienced, Júlia Pereira knows the shortcuts of the field, and when the game seems too tough, she may feature, as in such a game Ana Clara would underperform. But Júlia's physical condition is poor right now, so she won't be able to play for many minutes.

Staff

Coach - Fernanda Garcia
Age: 55 years old
She is a former player of the Cafundelense Women's National Team, during its best ages, and participated in the title campaign of WWC11. So, she has the experience and knowledge of the competition necessary to lead this team. She also has experience inside both the CFFC and CCFM, helping youth projects and even being part of director councils of important Cafundelense teams. As a coach, she is offensive, but prefers to adapt her style to the players available for use, and not the opposite as happens with some coaches in the world.

Assistant - Jacqueline Ruiz
Age: 41 years old
Jacqueline is the one who will take care of the physical training of the players, but she also has knowledge of tactics and rules, enough to give a lot of help to Fernanda. But she'll only support her boss.

This tournament is going to be rather exhausting if I may say so myself. I was told prior to the draw that there would be 4 groups with 2 playing in Kagdazka and the other 2 in Pazhujebu. During the draw, I realized there were a total of 21 nations listed on the big screen in front of me. No problem then, 1 group will have an extra nation. But no! Instead I discover there will be 3 groups with everyone doing a bunch of traveling. I'm in this thing for the football, not for the scenery or the threat of being blown up in mid-air due to non-existant aerospace safety. Ah well...

"Here we are guys, Praça de Prata, Mahathu, Pazhujebu. Mind your own business and don't try to steal those lovely rubies on the exterior."
"Heh. Why would we boss? We're all single!"
"That's the point, Rudy."

*wink wink*

"Oh... I get it!"
"Alright, enough messing around, lets make a move for the lockers!"

Ah, memories. The wonderful locker room. The players bullshitting amongst themselves, and the manager in the corner shaking his head disapprovingly. Hey, that's me! But I do it with a smile, because a few years ago, I was one of those guys. I know exactly how they feel...

"Heh."

When I was a promising teen at the academy, my mum told me to write essays on the places I see, as though she knew I was going to be in the team, and as though I had enough time or language skills to write anything. But I do take points, and from what I've experienced here in Kagdazka and Pazhujebu (I still can't get over how impossible it is to pronounce that in one go), all I can say is, the air is fresh, even in the locker room...

"Everyone ready?"
"Just waiting for Heinz, boss."
"Alright then, everyone else to the pitch. I'll wait for Heinz."
"If you say so boss!"

Poor Heinz. Back in the village, there was no reason to rush. They took their time to grow up, to live. The... Hmm, how do I put it. Civilized? No. Modern? Maybe. Whatever, life in 'my' world moves terribly fast...

"Need some help Heinz?"
"I'm fine, boss. It's just that someone removed my laces..."
"Oh?"

I remember doing that to someone... I can't remember who, but... Ah yes! Alex Schmidt. Hehe, good times...

"No big deal, just had to put them back on."

Heh, gotta love that attitude!

"Yes boss?"
"I.. I'm sorry Heinz?"
"No, I'm sorry boss. I thought you chuckled at me. Must have been dreaming."
"Well... I did! It just escapes my mind as to how you don't seem annoyed at anything."

Uh oh. Bad question...

"Boss, you know where I came from. Look at where you've put me now. I've suffered infinitely worse than this."

Like missing a goal? Heh. No, bad joke...

"I, err... Sorry boss."
"For?"
"You seem offended somehow..."
"Not at all! Not at all."
"Well, I've done my laces, let's go."

Heinz, Heinz... You're a wonderful specimen.

"Alright! Everybody in the tunnel, now!"
"Let's go fellas!"
"Oh yeah!"

Complete optimism and confidence it would seem, at first glance, but I can sense that they're nervous. The only flaw I ever saw in having a team completely filled with young players with no experience is, well, the latter. No experience, at least in the beginning. Nothing can really prepare you for the high-pressure environment of international football, the entire country's expectations. Nothing can really prepare you for the patriotic chants that exit the mouths of the 50,000-over crowd. It's nothing like club football...

..As for me, well, from my experience with the Fegel-arses, I don't think I'm allowed to lose...

"How does it feel, Adrian?"
"I tell you what boss! I got butterflies all over my body right now!"
"Hans?"
"Erm... Very nervous boss!"
"Hey guys, let me tell you something. Just play football. Play beautiful football, and we'll be through this in no time, trust me..."

The butterflies are attacking me too. I hear the crowd, the cheers... Oh, the light!

"...and here is the Die Adler starting eleven. Lang in goal, with the 3 defenders Stuck, the captain Niculae and Paul Meier. The midfield is extremely important in Markus Klogh's plans, he has 5 of them, look out for sprints and crosses from the wings with Korbel and Munteanu, and Jochen Winkelhock should be dangerous if he gets the ball too. And of course, Dimitrie Cuclin and Rudolf Rosemeyer are our two strikers. Now..."

The failures of the past have ended, and the beginning of a new era has begun. Markus Klogh will lead us to victory, yes...

*pheet*

"And with that whistle, the 33rd AOCAF Cup, is under way!"
"And look at that! Already, Burchadinger is posing a threat to the goal of Legalese! Winkelhock with a shot! Alas, saved by the Legalese goalkeeper."

*beep*

"Magda, I told you not to receive anybody! I..."
"Reichssportführer, Der Fuhrer is here to see you."
"I... Of course, see him in."

Damnit, switch the TV off, switch the TV off...

*click*

"HEIL!"
"No need for that Wagner, I come to you as Hans-Ulrich Fegelein, your friend and colleague."
"Of course Mein... I mean, Hans. To what do I owe the pleasure?"
"This."

That's a cute little football!

"Well, of course Hans. Please, have a seat."

*click*

"A drink perhaps?"
"Just give me a glass of wine. I'm not too fussy about what type."

"...Lotterer with a shot! But it goes straight into the hands of the Legalese goalkeeper!"

Merlot... This should do.

"Your health!"

"GOAL!!! Legalese go 1-0 up with a fantastic strike by..."

"You were saying, Reichssportführer?"

Fuck...

*pheet*

"And at half-time, it's 1-0 with Legalese ahead of Burchadinger..."

"LISTEN TO ME, FELLAS. I don't know what I just saw. It should probably be Burchadinger 4-0 Legalese right now, but you scuppered all your chances! Jochen! You had two one-on-one shots in succession! The first time you hit the post, and the second time you sent the ball flying right smack into the goalkeeper's face! Dimitrie, it's obvious everyone is crowding around you, and you only. Use that to your advantage, try and attract attention away from Jochen or Rudy. Speaking of Rudy, this isn't a freaking rugby match. I don't know how many times I saw that ball flying straight up like a freaking missile. Try and control your power, it's the least you can do! Arnd and Mihai, you're doing your job. Keep it up. Sebastian and my defence. I'm a bit... Underwhelmed. Seb, what exactly were you doing trying to 'tackle' the striker? That was never going to work. Adrian, Paul and Hermann, I have big expectations for the 3 of you, and quite frankly, you need to do a better job. Hans? I'm not entirely sure what to say. If you had caught the ball, there would be no Legalese 1-0 Burchadinger business right now. CATCH, Hans. That's the name of the game... Look, I don't want to demotivate you guys. This is your first international, after all, but still, you have expectations, and you need to surpass them. We cannot lose this match, we can't even draw. Legalese are unranked, can you imagine the flak we would take for losing to an unranked team? We can win this thing guys, we can and we will. YOU HEAR ME!"

"FOR DER FUHRER!"
"FOR DER VATERLAND!"
"SIEG! SIEG!"

I may not be a patriot, but whatever it takes to keep their spirits up, I'll accept.

"That's the spirit lads! Lets do this!"

"...I will stay until the end, but I won't appreciate failure."
"Of course, Mein Fuhrer."

Damnit Klogh, this better be a good second half...

*pheet*

"Welcome back to TV1 coverage of Burchadinger vs Legalese in the 33rd AOCAF Cup, Legalese are ahead after a lucky goal in the 4th minute, but Die Adler really have had several easy chances wasted, isn't that right Nico?"
"Indeed Helmut, and that's not all. You only need to look at the half-time statistics, possession is almost 100% Burchadinger, look at the number of shots on goal we've had. It's totally mystifying as to how and why we've not scored yet."
"For those of you interested in the Starblaydia vs Vilita match which is being broadcast over on TV2, the Starblaydi team has just gone into the lead with a..."

"I say, Wagner."
"Yes sir?"
"Tell me honestly, do you think we're going to win, or are we just going to keep aiming at the sky?"
"I'm sure we'll score eventually, and from thereon, Die Adler should find the spirit to score a few more."

"Rosemeyer is down! Rudolf Rosemeyer has been fouled and it looks like he is in considerable pain."

"Confound it Wagner! Confound it!!!"

"Physio! How bad is it?"
"He's hurt is knee quite badly, I can't tell you much at the moment, but no way he's going back out there."
"Bloody hell! Rudy, you okay?"
"I'll be fine boss! I'll be fine..."

Oh crap, now what? Heinz or... Jurgen?

"Markus, we need someone to go out now, who's it gonna be?"
*sigh* "Tell Jurgen to get ready."

Oh, hello my Legalese counterpart. You don't know how much I wanna break your player's legs right now...

*pheet*

"JURGEN! Hurry up!"

5 minutes in, and I already have a load of shit on my hands.

"Jurgen."
"Yes boss?"
"Give the performance of your life. Just because Rudy is out doesn't mean you're going to be on the first team."
"Yea, sure thing boss."

You're just saying that...

"6 minutes in, and play resumes at Praça de Prata. Jurgen Vietoris has replaced the injured Rudolf Rosemeyer, who has taken some damage to his knee."
"I still can't believe that Legalese idiot didn't get a yellow card, let a lone a red one. Ridiculous!"

"Pfft. Bribery no doubt. Corruption wreaks in sports nowadays, it is a terrible development, Wagner."
"Evil will never win, Mein Fuhrer. Legalese will get what they bargained for, I'm sure of it."
"We will see, Wagner."

"Korbel fouled!"

"I will never understand this so called 'tussling game'. It's for people who are not intelligent enough to play beautiful, attacking football. Don't you think so Wagner?"

"Jochen Winkelhock to take the kick. What do you think, Nico? Pass or shot?"
"Well we'll soon see!"
"Winkelhock to Vietoris, VIETORIS!!!"

"YES! YES!! YEEESSS!!! GREAT GOAL JURGEN!"
"Looks like we're back in the game boss!"
"We sure are Heinz!"

Hell yea! This is more like it!

"COME ON GUYS! MORE OF THAT PLEASE!"

Oh, hello again counterpart. You look pissed! Did I do something wrong?

"That was fantastic Wagner! How come he wasn't included in the first team?"
"Mein..."
"Hans."
"Well, Hans. Jurgen Vietoris has issues with alcohol and tobacco. His career almost ended after being convicted of..."
"Oh I know all that Wagner, but so long he's not taking any crack, he should be on the first team!"
"Hans, partying until dawn is a serious problem in football squads..."
"Rubbish. When Rosemeyer is fit again, tell Klogh I want Vietoris on the first team. We shall never make much progress with that rugby player Rosemeyer."
"I... Of course Hans."

Klogh doesn't do things which aren't his way...

"..GOAL!!! DIMITRIE CUCLIN!"

"YEAAAA!!! THAT'S THE WAY I LIKE IT! KEEP IT COMING GUYS!"
"You think there will be more to come boss?"
"I see no reason why there shouldn't, Heinz!"

68th Minute

"Mihai Munteanu with a shot! And it's in! He scores!"
"Oh! But the flag is up! Oh, no! That must hurt poor old Mihai a lot. Fantastic shot, sad to see it disallowed like that.

77th Minute

"That was a terrible tackling attempt from the defender, Vietoris is one on one now! Can he shoot it in? Surely he will! AND HE DOES! BURCHADINGER 3-1 LEGALESE!"

90th Minute

"And a tackle from inside the box, surely a penalty!"
"Looks like the ref is playing advantage, Winkelhock shoots!"
"Hits the bar! But Cuclin's there and he rifles it in! GAME OVER LEGALESE!"

"Excellent. It is just the outcome I had yearned for. Please give Markus Klogh my congratulations and regards."
"No disrespect, but why don't you do it yourself? It would be a big boost to team morale if you did it instead of me."
"I'll do it when they win."

Coaches: Kris Wrice & Tika Massa

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 85 ] Nycflala Kater [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 15 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.87 Average Rating ]
Descended of former National Team goalkeeper Jimmy Kater, who took over the starting position on the National Team under the intense spotlight of the World Cup 17 Finals in Vilita and remained first choice keeper for the majority of Vilitan national competition in subsequent seasons before joining the coaching staff for World Cup 31. Nycflala made his full debut for the Vilita National Team during World Cup 57 where he was named the starter in 14 of Vilitas 16 qualification matches. Kater performed strongly with 6 shutouts and a 5.87 average rating and is widely expected to maintain his starting position.

[ 92 ] Jungrii Canopii [ - Inland Academy - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 3 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.00 Average Rating ]
Canopii spent most of World Cup 57 Qualifications on the bench, earning three substitute appearances in official matches, though he was named starter for the mid-qualification charity match against Akbarabad to raise money for big cats, where he made 11 saves. Despite spending most of the campaign as the primary backup, Canopii was not given the opportunity to start when #1 keeper Kater missed two matches, leading doubts as to whether he is looked upon as a serious candidate for the starting role in the future

[ 95 ] Jawz Tiiaupila [ - Hojosan (TYZ) - LOAN - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 1 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 4.00 Average Rating ]
Tiiaupila has made just one appearance for the Vilitan National Team, coming in a shock defeat against Brendino the 3rd during World Cup 57 Qualifications. The 1-3 defeat was pointed at by many critics as the sole reason the Jungle Cats were unable to make a return to the World Cup Finals, dropping a full three points against the groups bottom side and inevitably finishing just one point out of the playoff zone. Tiiaupila moved from Inland Rovers on a loan to newly promoted Hojosan in The Yorozura after WC57 quals as part of an investment deal with the clubs kit sponsors, VIlitan based Vilaye energy drink.

[ 91 ] Aranora Jaded [ - Arcticala Academy - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]

[ 86 ] Hooizo Nuakoi [ - Yeaddin Academy - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]

DEFENDERS:

[ 9 ] Ritopa Simafela [ - Lunar Academy - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 15 :: GOALS::SR: 2 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.05 Average Rating ]
Ritopa is a standout product of the Lunar Academy and was named as one of the captains of Vilita's World Cup 57 Qualifying Squad. The son of a Rocket Scientist and a Physicist, Simafela is already well educated and is in no way reliant on a career in sports. However, strong performances during his debut qualifying campaign including a 6.05 average rating and 2 goals spurred transfer inquiries from foreign clubs and comparisons to Vilitan greats like Enzo Ahat and Ricky Ezis.

[ 94 ] Miiara Makose [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 14 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.65 Average Rating ]
Makose has Druidan blood, though has been diluted through multiple generations. He was trained as a goalkeeper in Turori but did not want to be stuck in the shadows of Nycflala Kater, so switched over to the defensive role when joining the Strike Academy. The transition was clearly justified as Makose was one of the top performing players in World Cup 57 qualifying, carrying a 6.65 average rating while appearing in 14 of Vilita's 16 group matches.

[ 4 ] Tyaoino Munviola [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 8 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.44 Average Rating ]
S towering defender with a dependable head, Munviola is not afraid to join the attack on corner kicks, and rarely loses a defensive header. His feet have let him down from time to time, but have been improving. Despite his inconsistencies, Munviola was a surprise package during World Cup 57 qualifying, making 8 appearances and having a strong ratings average.

[ 64 ] Uajiala Pulkki [ - Inland Academy - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 3 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.70 Average Rating ]
Pulkki is a descendent of former Inland Peaks FC defender Pasi Pulkki, and many are saying he could even be better then his ancestors. Pulkki unfortunately lasted barely 22 minutes in his competitive debut against Ipeland in World Cup 57 qualifying, but has put in some more impressive performances since.

[ 68 ] Kadi Molali [ - Turoki Academy - ]
------- D R ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 13 :: GOALS::SR: 1 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.56 Average Rating ]
Molali has the ability to make stunning runs up the right side of the field and has put together exciting 'from-nothing' goal scoring opportunities in weekly scrimmage matches. Molali is an exciting prospect for the Turoki Academy who was solid, but not exceptional during World Cup 57 Qualifying, making 13 appearances and scoring 1 goal.

[ 67 ] Eda Shindhi [ - Coastal Academy - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 2 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 4.06 Average Rating ]
Shindhi is a player in the mold of former Marine Coast defensive stalwarts Ade Hinds and Sibusiso Azaiez. While Shindhi still has some development to go before realizing his full potential, it is expected that he will continue to get a run out from time to time as his skills progress. Shindhi made his competitive debut in defeat against Brendino the 3rd during World Cup 57 Qualifying but did not impress in that performance

[ 66 ] Sipaao Vereaoao [ - Inland Academy - ]
------- D L ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 1 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.00 Average Rating ]
A product of the Inland Academy, Vereaoao has played in both Vilita & Turori, but committed his future to the Jungle Cats when featuring for them as a half time substitute against Nitrome Island during World Cup 57 qualifying.

[ 8 ] Ricata Amakra [ - Alikki-Corra Academy - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
The product of the Alikka-Corra Academy is a defender being compared locally with former Alikki-Corra FC defender Emarka Laniora. While he doesn't yet share the same ability to charge up either wing with the ball, his solid defensive skills should see him earn some playing time with the National Team

[ 63 ] Baiiub Jual-Knakok [ - Coastal Academy - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
A product of the Coastal Academy, Jual-Knakok is a left footed defender nicknamed "the Cricket" by his peers

[ 61 ] Yoains Konoaafeo [ - Yeaddin Academy - ]
------- D RLC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Konoaafeo is the top defensive product of the Yeaddin Academy and is expected to be part of the National Team Consideration simply due to this fact

[ 62 ] Noa-isinao Wioauoi [ - Yeaddin Academy - ]
------- D RLC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Noa-isinao Wioauoi is a product of the Yeaddin Academy, and is a bit of an unknown prospect around much of Vilita. He caught the eye of one Yeaddin reporter at a recent training session doing ball handling tricks, and the shared video has since gone viral, sparking a campaign including a fan website and even local town council requests to invite the youngster into the National Team training camp

[ 3 ] Niubo Deneli [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- D LC ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Deneli is a solid prospect for the Strike Academy that saw a decline in his development after the age of 15, a time at which he was considered the best defensive prospect in the country.

[ 4 ] Timmson Leabiura [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
The development of Timmson Leabiura seems to be hampered by his family's inability to stay put, and he has found himself at 6 different academies in his short sporting career. Now training at the Strike Academy for the second time, it is hoped by pundits that his development will receive a spark

DEFENSIVE MID:

[ 36 ] Retiso Buran [ - Sile Academy - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 15 :: GOALS::SR: 2 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.65 Average Rating ]
Retiso Buran is the top prospect at the Sile Academy specializing in the defensive midfield role once made famous by Jürgen Ramzi. Buran is a ferocious player who some has said can be seen with teeth gritted ready to pounce as the attacking side approaches. Appearing almost exclusively during World Cup 57 qualifying, Buran missed only one game and scored 2 goals during the campaign

[ 39 ] Tujamu Treola [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 1 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.00 Average Rating ]
A product of the Strike Academy, Tujamu Treola excels both defensively in the midfield, and with his head both defensively and on corner kicks. Treola made his competitive debut in World Cup 57 qualifying against West Zirconia

[ 38 ] Dronik Ratuva [ - Valley Academy - ]
------- DM RLC ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Dronik Ratuva is an exciting prospect from the Valley Academy, who is also able to move wide to defensively cover the wings when 2 or 3 central defenders are used.

[ 34 ] Danie Izmao [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Izmao is a Strike Academy prospect who, while not rated as the highest defensive midfield prospect at the academy, is still expected to get a run out with the National Squad in World Cup Qualifiers, especially should any injuries come in to play

[ 30 ] Ukalai Saluria [ - Turoki Academy - ]
------- DM C ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Saluria is a product of the Turoki Academy, who is likely to train with the National Team in the build up to World Cup Qualifying and be in a stand-by mode for potential call-ups throughout the competition

MIDFIELDERS:

[ 27 ] Rexii Tzikas [ - Arcticala Academy - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 16 :: GOALS::SR: 2 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.01 Average Rating ]
Tzikas is the top propsect of the Arcticala Academy, and one of the most highly rated players in the Vilitan National Team pool. The Tzikas name has some history in Vilitan Sport, formerly, Toby Tzikas was a midfielder on the National Team, though he was less known than other former Vilitan Stars as he played his club football in Starblaydia. Rexii was the only Vilitan player to start every single match during qualifications for World Cup 57. His presence was strong averaging a 6.01 rating with 2 goals.

[ 21 ] Jomur Hulyer [ - Yeaddin Academy - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 13 :: GOALS::SR: 1 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.51 Average Rating ]
A decsendent of the exciting Marine Coast and Yeaddin midfielder Jonjo Hulyer, Jomur has been compared heavily to his ancestors and even carries the same squad number. Unlike Jonjo, however, Jomur is being trained at the Yeaddin Academy. Hulyer made his debut during the World Cup 57 Qualifying campaign with a very strong performance averaging a 6.51 rating. Hulyer appeared in 13 of Vilita's 16 matches netting 1 goal and multiple assists helping the Jungle Cats come within one game of a playoff place.

[ 51 ] Steffyn Siazzu [ - Yeaddin Academy - ]
------- AM C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 16 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.79 Average Rating ]
An exciting prospect from the Yeaddin Academy, Siazzu tends to play behind the strikers in a clean up or attacking role atop the midfield. Siazzu appeared in every game during Vilita's World Cup 57 Qualifying campaign and did his part, though did not get on the scoresheet.

[ 24 ] Astara Daiili [ - Kiiara Academy - ]
------- M C ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 15 :: GOALS::SR: 1 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.08 Average Rating ]
Daiili is a classic central midfielder who prefers a holding role and short distribution. Daiili made his competitive debut in the World Cup 57 Qualifying campaign and was a workhorse for the Jungle Cats appearing in 15 of the 16 matches, netting one goal.

[ 55 ] Viliaka Morasita [ - Tivali Academy - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 10 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.79 Average Rating ]
Morasita is the top prospect coming out of the Tivali Academy, playing central and left midfield. His sure footed tackling ability is noted but he is a well balanced midfielder shining above his peers at Tivali. Morasita made a total of 10 appearances as both starter and substitute during his debut qualifying campaign for World Cup 57

[ 70 ] Aniara Jiurjai [ - Turori Academy - ]
------- M RLC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 9 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.71 Average Rating ]
Jiurjai is trained in Turori but declared for Vilita after being called into the squad for World Cup 57 Qualifying. The multi-talented midfielder appeared in 9 of the 16 Vilitan matches. Jiurjai can play both central and outside midfield and can use both feet equally well.

[ 53 ] Resaie Kentiak [ - Coastal Academy - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 1 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.00 Average Rating ]

------- AM RL ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]

At this stage in his development, he may get overlooked as he works more on his technique and vision, but with experience, he will learn these skills.

[ 29 ] Cristoh Nrubari [ - Kiiara Academy - ]
------- M LC ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Nrubari is another quality midfield prospect from the Kiiara Academy, though not expected to be a regular player on the Vilitan National team for some seasons to come as he continues his development

FORWARDS:

------- F C ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 13 :: GOALS::SR: 4 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.04 Average Rating ]

------- F C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 14 :: GOALS::SR: 4 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.29 Average Rating ]
Moliaudo is a real force in front of goal, rarely missing from inside the penalty area. Many eyes were on Moliaudo during the World Cup Campaign, to see how he fared with a new partner in attack, having spent his entire development partnered with Xcnaio Bansoa at the Coastal Academy. Moliaudo mostly performed well netting 4 goals and having a strong rating, but still left some wondering if there was more talent to be mined from the Coastal youngster.

[ 48 ] Actalia Mermaioada [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 3 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 6.05 Average Rating ]
Mermaioada is a prospect of the Strike Academy, who also excels at water sports, a fact that some pundits argue is hampering his development on the pitch. While not even featuring on the bench for early World Cup 57 qualifying matches, Mermaioada finally made his competitive debut as a half-time substitute against Ipeland and would feature as a sub for three consecutive matches before the return of Kilpter to the lineup.

[ 17 ] Viji-mara Lawaai [ - Strike Academy - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 17 CAPS: 8 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.46 Average Rating ]
The top forward prospect at the Strike Academy, Lawaai has excelled at shooting from long range, and making space on the edge of the penalty area with crafty turns, and may produce opportunities for free kicks if he wears down the opposition approaching the box. Lawaii made 8 substitute appearances during World Cup 57 qualifying, making his competitive debut against Krytenia, but failed to find the scoresheet.

[ 43 ] Lita Adjei [ - Hojosan (TYZ) - LOAN - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 15 CAPS: 1 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ 5.00 Average Rating ]
A product of the Turoki Academy, Adjei has sport in the blood, being a descendent of former Stellar Division top Forward award winner Ippolit Adjei. Adjei moved on a loan to newly promoted Hojosan in The Yorozura after WC57 quals as part of an investment deal with the clubs kit sponsors, VIlitan based Vilaye energy drink.

[ 49 ] Xcnaio Bansoa [ - Coastal Academy - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 16 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Bansoa is a training partner of Sirkii Moliaudo at the Coastal Academy, and many believe that Moliaudo's prowess in front of goal is due solely to his close partnership with Bansoa. While Bansoa is not highly rated on his own, he may be called into the National Team if Moliaudo struggles without familiar faces around him.

Inis na Dún is finally a free nation, but given that such status has come only through the destruction of Sorthern Northland and the loss their of hundreds of millions of lives there along with ongoing concerns as to the aftermath of the destruction's effects on Inis na Dún this new start has been difficult for many to enjoy. The squad is largely the same as that which won the World Cuppet three years ago, though with a fair degree more professionalism. A number of previously Sorthern based players (all of who survived due to the Inis na Dún squad conveniently doing a tour of minor foreign clubs at the time of the atrocity) have signed deals with clubs in Cotdelapoms and The Yorozuya, whilst Rónán Mac Coinín joins Conor Riordan in swapping from the Sorthern team to Inis na Dún, though given the circumstances, in a rather less controversial manner. Given the top level experience of those two players they shall be captain and vice-captain respectively.

The Sports Journal

First win in the cup!!!
Ladies and Gentleman
Boys and Girls
People who respect sport and love Savski Venac
Our football players won their first ever AOCAF match ever!
Yes thats right,Savski Venac won the first match in AOCAF.
The match was wery nervous for all of us who watched it.First half was a no goal half where our players didnt show wery much.
Our players almoust conceded a goal in the 21st minute, but our goalkeeper Tomislav Ćosić got the ball safely in his hands.
The halftime score was as we said nil nil.
The second half was dominated by our football players, the National Team of Kos couldnt even get to the penalty aera.
Our firt shot on goal was in the 55th minute when Takovski shot tha ball right in to the top left corner but the goalkeeper succseded in his attempt to get the ball of course.Unfortunately for the Kos players it the ball went to a corner kick witch brought us the first goal.Kočić crossed into the penalty aera, and the ball went right on to Erićs head witch changed the ball course to the lower right corner.Erić headed it strongly and decisevly the goalkeeper couldnt do anything about it.
The secon goal was in the 79th minute of the game when Neješ had a breakthroug and he lobbed the goalkeeper witch ran too far away from the ball.
The match ended with a result of two nil,and you could hear the roars of the Savski Venac supporters thet came to help our team in winning this cup.
This match was a wery good match for us,unfortunately for the Kos team it wasnt good. They had good chanses in the first half, and we were like we never played pro football. But,but because Kos didnt scored a goal from the chanses they got in the first half the got tired so we went into an offensive play and we finally came to our first goal.says the coach of our representation Andreas Sam.

"Markus, a few words for Burchadingan television. How would you rate the performance of the team as a whole today?"
"Well, we were lacklustre in the first half in the sense that we had a million chances and didn't score. I think we really got in the groove when Jurgen came on for Rudy and scored that goal, our performance in the second half was satisfactory. However, it's really disappointing seeing how many chances were wasted, so out of 5 stars I'll give it a 2."
"2 stars out of 5, that seems a bit harsh!"
"Not at all! I think the guys need to learn that when you get a chance, you need to grab it with both hands, or legs... If we can fix this problem, I'm quite confident we will be winning matches regularly."
"Now then, speaking of Jurgen Vietoris, following his arrival on the pitch, the team really found itself doing what they should, as in, scoring goals. In hindsight, would you have placed Jurgen on the first team instead of Rudolf Rosemeyer?"
"Not at all. In my mind, someone would have scored that goal eventually, and Rudy is taking way too much flak at the moment. He has other things to worry about right now."
"Well, thank you for your time Markus Klogh. I'm sure the whole of Burchadinger will be celebrating tonight."
"Thank you!"

Cheergirls... Why do I get the feeling the boys won't be particularly concentrated in this one?

"Mornin lads..."
"Mornin boss!"
"Whatcha doing?"
"Just gathering intelligence on our opponent boss! Right Adrian?"
"Riiight!"

Oh please...

"Guys, I hope you understand the pitch isn't a place to try and make relationships. We're in this to win, not to get distracted by some teenage girls."
"Oh c'mon boss! They're our age!"

*facepalm*

"Aww, no need to take it seriously boss!"
"I sure hope so."

See? There I go again. I've probably been randy when facing female opposition at least once in my playing career, but I mean, I was one of the youngest of the lot, most of the others were already hooked, and so Deval didn't really have a problem on his hands. I guess I can add another point to 'disadvantages of having a team full of U-21s...

"So, how is Rudy anyway?"
"The Doc confirmed that he'll be out for the rest of the tournament, but he's in good spirits. Has his own room and TV. He'll be making some noise to piss off the other patients, I'm sure of that! Anyway, we'll make a move in half an hour, make sure you're ready."

And now for some music... Wahnsinn!

"Boss, I'm not entirely sure how we're expected to play when..."
"Damnit Jurgen! Can you just ignore the fact they're wearing cheerleading outfits?"
"But boss! I..."
"I can't believe you're letting your adolescence figure in the way of things! Please, all of you, can we just win this match and get it over with?"
"I.."

If we lose this thing because my team was too distracted, I'll probably have to flippin' castrate them when this is over...

*beep*

"Yes Magda?"
"Your brother is here Reichssportführer."
"Of course, send him in."

*click*

"Thomas!"
"Hello Ernst, and here's the coffee you ordered."
"Many thanks. I trust all is well back home?"
"Everything is fine."
"Good. A drink perhaps?"
"No, I'm fine, thanks. Is... the football on?"
"Nope, a few more minutes to kickoff. In the meantime, let's talk. What do you think of our chances?"
"We need to win against the unranked teams. We did it against Legalese, we're going to have to do it today against Cheergirls and later on against Vilita. We're stuck with Starblaydia, Valanora and Kagdazka & Pazhejebu..."
"Kagdazka and Pazhujebu."
"Well, whatever. Anyway, like I said, we're stuck with those 3 teams. We need these 3 to cancel each other out as much as possible. K&P and Valanora have already done this, but we're going to have to make the best of our chances. Get 9 points against the UR teams, and try and draw against the remaining 3. That's a total of 12 points. I'm just trying to be realistic here, Ernst."
"It's something that has been bugging me since the beginning. Der Fuhrer wants us to make it to the knockout stages, he demands it... Yet we are stuck in what has been labelled the Group of Death. The hosts, 2 giants, an AO legend, and 2 solid teams, this is ridiculous!"
"Hrmph. Can you imagine if we beat Kagdazka and Pazhujebu? Der Fuhrer will have to mobilize the Bundeswehr, hah!"
"Funnily enough, today's match is being played at the FKM Arena. The FKM fans are total nutheads. Socialist slogans, fences, bleah. Completely disgusting. In fact it's as though the K&P organizers deliberately made us play here just to piss the regime off. Disgusting. Moving on, what do you think of the whole Rosemeyer-Vietoris issue?"
"I don't understand why Klogh decided to place Rosemeyer on the first team. Everybody knows he can't score unless it's a rugby game, and yet he places him on the first team? It's crazy!"
"In fairness to him, his crosses and passes are pretty good."
"Then place him as a midfielder, and even there, what's the point? We have Korbel and Munteanu to cause chaos on the wings, Winkelhock as a support striker, with Lotterer and Krumm controlling the middle. Where's the need for Rosemeyer? Klogh's policy has always been talent over anything else, then why the hell didn't he put Vietoris on the first team? He's infinitely more talented than Rosemeyer, so much so that it's not even funny! I, err... Ernst, I'm pretty sure the match started some time ago, we've been ranting for quite a while now."
"Ah, of course, hold on."

*click*

What the heck are they doing? They've blown 11 chances in 15 minutes! This ain't funny!

"DAMNIT GUYS, WILL YOU JUST FUDGIN' SCORE?"
"You think they're doing it on purpose?"
"What do you mean Joachim?"
"Well, you know. Purposely screwing up to..."
"Oh shut up Joachim."

*sigh*

"But you know, if they're doing that, it ain't funny. As though any of them have a shot at nailing..."

*pheet*

"OH C'MON SEBASTIAN! DON'T SCREW UP LIKE THAT!"
"If I may, I believe that may disprove your that theory."
"You think? Seb doesn't care much for the opposite sex."
"I..."
"Anyhow, we're a useless pair of coaches talking about this crap, now get back to work."
"I... Err, yes sir."

Hell, I can't imagine how the Stabschef is reacting back in Berlin...

"THIS IS AN OUTRAGE! HOW CAN THIS BE HAPPENING? I..."
"Calm down Ernst, remember Legalese? We only..."
"I can understand Legalese, but these are a bunch of teenage girls! How are we not 32-0 up? I refuse to..."
"SHUT UP ERNST! I'm not happy either, but there's little we can do about it. Here, have a drink."

I don't understand! Jurgen and Dimitrie haven't hit the scoresheet yet! What rubbish! If they don't score, Ernst is probably going to have them both shot!

"You know something Thomas? If we don't score, I'll have the whole team shot!"

Close enough, I guess...

*pheet*

"And at half time, it's Cheergirls 0-0 Burchadinger, here at the FKM Arena. We'll be back after these messages."

*beep*

"Yes Magda?"
"Der Fuhrer is on the line, should I put him through?"
"I..."

Good luck brother...

"Of course."

"Will someone please explain to me what I saw just now. Anyone, anyone at all!"

*silence*

"Nobody? Well, that's just sad. Let me give you my view of things... Let's be frank, you were crap. At least most of you were. Dimitrie and Jurgen, from the bench, I didn't know those 2 players who were kicking the ball everywhere were Dimitrie Cuclin and Jurgen Vietoris. You made yourselves look terrible, we probably should be at least 7-0 up right now! If only for your personal honour, do a better job! My midfielders, you looked totally overwhelmed. Everytime Cheergirls came running to our side, you seemed lost and just started moving about like a crazed cockroach. Is it really that bad? Or are you too distracted looking at cleavage?"

"Hehe..."

"Shut up Jurgen. Adrian, Paul and Hermann, you did a pretty good job, clearing a few balls. Hans, you did a great job. I'm glad you've learned your lesson, at least, at this point, it would seem that you have. Now lads, I don't want to see the same rubbish in the second half. If you don't meet my standards, the nation's standards, you'll be subbed and your position in the team for the rest of the tournament will be reconsidered. Do you all get that?"

"YES BOSS!"

"Good. You better have."

"Heil!"

*cling*

"Well, what did he say?"
"Basically, if we don't score, I get demoted. If we don't win, I get a pay cut."
"Ouch."
"There's really not much I can do, is there? I can't call Klogh or talk to the players, and Klogh won't listen to me anyway. Heh, this is a hopeless situation."
"Don't lose faith, just remember Legalese."
"Is there anything else you can advise?"
"Not really..."
"That helps matters greatly, thank you Thomas."

"Back at the FKM Arena for the second half of Cheergirls vs Burchadinger. It's been a frustrating first half for Die Adler, with an uncountable amount of offsides and missed shots. Markus Klogh almost certainly weighing up his options for this half. No substitutions yet, but if I were you, I'd make a pretty sizeable bet that at least 2 players will be swapped sooner or later, what do you think Nico?
"Well I think Markus Klogh will be looking at his attacking options, because the defenders are doing a pretty good job. Cuclin and Vietoris are being underwhelming, in particular Vietoris, who was so impressive against Legalese and was expected to make a pretty hefty impact here since he was on the first team. I don't think Klogh will be willing to swap both Cuclin and Vietoris for Heinz Brendel and Gheorghe Beta, but I'm pretty confident that we'll be seeing one of them out soon."

"Joachim, come over here for a minute."
"Yes boss?"
"Do you think Seb is gonna do something stupid again?"
"A bit early to tell, but for the sake of being on the safe side, it would be wise to sub him."
"Marius?"
"Possible, although he could just end up getting a card."
"I have enough confidence in him."
"You want him to warmup?"
"No, not now."

"I'm not entirely sure why I'm still watching this..."
"Don't be dejected Ernst, I'm sure Klogh will be making a sub or two soon."
"We have Vietoris and Cuclin as strikers, and it's still 0-0. What hope is there?"
"Plenty."
"I wish I had your optimism..."

80th Minute

Damnit, enough! I've had enough!

"GHEORGHE! MARIUS! VOLKER! WARM UP NOW!"
"YES BOSS!"

I'm sorry Heinz, not yet. Not yet...

"Boss?"
"Yes Joachim?"
"Who's in for who?"
"Gheorghe replaces Jurgen, Marius - Sebastian and Volker - Leonard."
"Understood."

Hopefully this does it. Otherwise, on my return to Burchadinger, they're going to chop off my head...

*pheet*

"Alright lads! Get ready, and best of luck!"

Sorry Jurgen, but you just didn't cut it today...

"Jurgen?"
"I'm sorry boss, I failed you."

Don't say anything and slowly look away...

"So he took off Jurgen, Sebastian and Leonard and replaced them with Gheorghe, Marius and Volker, what good does that do?"
"Gheorghe Beta is a good striker. I think Klogh put Marius there to concentrate on defence, he doesn't really do much other than tackling and intimidating. Volker? Well, he's a good support player. Leonard wasn't doing much anyway."
"Something good better happen, otherwise..."

"GOAL!!!!"

"Well, will you look at that! Your wish came true before you even finished it Ernst!"

"YES! OH FINALLY! COME ON OVER HERE JOCHEN!"
"Hey thanks boss!"
"Mr. Winkelhock, you may have just won the game for us! Keep it up, there's only a bit more left to go!"
"Will do boss!"

Good on you Volker, but you've given me another headache...

"Just look at that! Beautiful pass from Volker Schneider, Jochen Winkelhock latches on to it, and just blasts the ball towards the goal. Mind you, he was very lucky that the crossbar decided to help him instead of the opposite, but that's all part of football, and I'm sure he'll be proud of that, his first international goal.

"Thank You Markus Klogh! Haha! Here's to victory, Thomas!"

*cling*

I really don't think you should have done that, Ernst, anything can happen at any time. Here's hoping that toast didn't jinx us or something...

3 minutes stoppage time, c'mon guys, the end is near, let's just hold onto this. After that, we can happily get drunk for a night, take advantage of our bye, and so on.

"C'MON GUYS! JUST A FEW MORE MINUTES! VICTORY IS IN SIGHT!"

This doesn't feel good. We only have 1 goal, and now they have a damn corner. We're all back in numbers, but... HOLY SHIT PAUL! NO!

"NOOOOO!!!!!"

*PFFT*

"What the fuck just happened?!?"
"Hermann Paul Meier."
"What the fuck did he do?"
"From the looks of the replay, Hans was about to catch the ball and Meier went for it as well, knocking Hans, missing the ball, and allowing Jezebel Benson to score."
"Damn that Meier. Victory was in sight! He sucks! Now our enemies will parade him as a failure! FAILURE! FAILURE!! FAILURE!!!"

*pheet*

"Full time here at the FKM Arena, and it is Cheergirls 1-1 Burchadinger."

(In a Spacebook chatroom):

Brittany Hazlett>: I am so proud of you ladies. Really, just a great job!
Jennifer Kennedy>: Thanks but we didn’t win!
Jezebel Benson>: It was so awesome!
Ashley Pothier>: Draws are tough.
Brittany Hazlett>: I know you wanna win but look at this flippin’ group they got us in, every point we can get we gotta savor.
Ashley Pothier>: Hell yea and great goal Jezzy!
Jennifer Kennedy>: Sorry I just wasnt brought up that way. If you didnt win then you don’t celebrate.
Brittany Hazlett>: I like da attitude. But not when we’re like a major huge underdog every game.
Jennifer Kennedy>: You beat Stachland in the Baptism of Fire, Hazel! And they made the World Cup this year! This team is not an underdog we can beat anyone!!
Jezebel Benson>: Jenn really calm down. Stachland wasn’t what then what they are today.
Jennifer Kennedy>: Neither are we! We can beat Valanora and Starblaydia then have Kagdazsadasdas or however u spell it for dessert.
Brittany Hazlett>: Kagdazka and Pazhujebu
Jennifer Kennedy>: Yeah that, where we are now!
Ashley Pothier>: Jennifer I like your enthusiasm but its still unrealistic to think we can win this tournament.
Jezebel Benson>: Yeah I mean it’s just a stepping stone maybe.
Jennifer Kennedy>: I don’t care! Starblaydia sucks anyway. They suck so much I think they’re just like gonna leave. We could really embarrass them.
Brittany Hazlett>: Yes if we won it would be an embarrassment to them I’m sure but they are a five-time champion of the World Cup and probably have won this a lot. I don’t feel like looking it up.
Ashley Pothier>: If we play hard we can get some respect in this region but we have to be realistic or else you just set yourself for disappointment.
Jezebel Benson>: Yeah just have fun.
Jennifer Kennedy>: I don’t care what you say. We’re gonna beat Starblaydia!! Those purple pansies don’t scare me. Come get me you losers!!
Brittany Hazlett>: I’m so glad this is a private chatroom to keep to ourselves.

Inish Informer

Former Sorthern player makes emotional return to international football

The rise of Inis na Dún from World Cuppet champions to competition in fully fledged full international competition was one that came far sooner than even the most ardent separatist could have hoped or expected. If there's anyone who can symbolise that rise then it is surely Rónán Mac Coinín, the second young defender who represent both Sorthern Northland and Inis na Dún.

Mac Coinín however is no Conor Riordan, there shall be no complaints from the mainland of a young deserter. Given the tragic events on the mainland there shall only be an eerie silence. It is just over a year now since Mac Coinín made his last appearance for the former world champions, since anyone made an appearance in that famous red and gold shirt. The 2-0 defeat in Corcorran against Krytenia marked not just the end of one of the great football teams of the ages, but the nation which spawned it.

And now in Mac Coinín's first international match since then, Krytenia mark a new beginning, not just for himself but for a nation, for Inis na Dún can now truly be called a nation. A 3-0 defeat may have been far from a dream début, indeed emotion may have gotten to many. Many a green and orange clad shirt made silly mistakes in their overeagerness to impress, but for Mac Coinín any emotion was rather tinged with painful memories.

“It was extremely tough. I can't help but associate what happened with when I last played Krytenia, so playing them again brought back painful scars. I was also reminded of how good they are as people however. They were fantastic at the World Cup, and that's not diminished in the time since, they were the same today.”

Such circumstances put into perspective just how unimportant sport can be and that a 3-0 defeat is perhaps the last thing to be worried. Nonetheless however the team will be looking to bounce back in their next match against Port Hawthorne, for which Mac Coinín will be looking to play a big part in.

“Before a 3-0 defeat to Krytenia would have devastated me but we'll cope with it. We've all been through harder times than losing our first ever match to a well established regional power. It's been a tough start to independent life for the nation with the after-effects, so the opportunity to play football is an enjoyable distraction, regardless of result. If we can get a win then hopefully that'll put a smile on everyone's face, if we can't then so be it, it really isn't the worst that could happen.”

Poignant words indeed from a man for whom the destruction of his home left him with only his maternal grandmother in Ballytragorm for family.

WHO IS... AQHORASSIA BHARA?!

Today's edition of Pazhujebi Sport will introduce a new technological marvel and innovation in journalism. We have managed to build a robot that conducts high-quality tabloid newspaper interviews. Our first test subject was a player who starts for the Kagdazka and Pazhujebu national football team! Don't miss a moment of the heart-pounding interaction, which really had our guest feeling uncomfortable for a second there! We welcome Aqhorassia Bhara to the pages of Pazhujebi Sport!

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?!

"Uh... I guess I'd have to say yellow, the primary color of my club team Urajbina."

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE ANIMAL?!

"Probably... a wolf, maybe?"

WHAT DO... YOU HATE MOST ABOUT VILITA?!

"Uh... I don't hate them, actually. I mean they're our next opponents... the Urchins' next opponents, that is..."

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?!

"I'd have to say saffron rice with espresso chicken gravy, which is a delicacy in Urajbina."

GROSS!

"I... um... who am I speaking to at the moment?"

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE RUSHMORI COUNTRY?!

"Wow. Tough one. I guess I'd have to say... Valladares, since my Urajbina teammate Fred Govou is from there..."

WRONG!

"Wait, what?"

THE CORRECT ANSWER IS... THEY ALL SUCK!

"Awesome. Good to know. Well, I should probably take off..."

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING FOR THE URCHINS?!

"Hey, now that is a good question. I guess I'd have to say it's the honor of representing your country. Just knowing that millions of people are behind you, well, it's just really an awesome feeling."

WHAT IS... YOUR FAVORITE PART OF PLAYING FOR URAJBINA?!

"Also a great question. I think it's different from the national team because you're playing not just for your country, but for the people and things closest to you. You're playing for the neighborhood you grew up in, or I guess at least I am. But also you're playing for your teammates, since you see them every single day. That I guess is the big difference between playing domestically and playing internationally... you spend much more time around your club teammates than your national teammates. So I like that about playing for Urajbina... but I think my favorite part is winning. Luckily this year we've been doing plenty of that; we've had three matches and we've won all of them."

ARE YOU... EXCITED TO PLAY IN THE URCHINS' FIRST-EVER GAME IN YAYAL?!

"Sure. It's a tiny little town in southeast Kagdazka, Yayal, and as you say, the national team have never played there. The stadium there, called Terpimost Stadion, only seats, like, thirteen thousand people or something. So it's going to be a very different venue than we're used to, but we're confident that we can defeat Vilita."

WHY DID... PEOPLE USED TO SAY YOU SUCK?!

"Excuse me?"

WHY DID... PEOPLE USED TO SAY YOU SUCK?!

"Uhhhh, I didn't know people used to say that about me. Whatever, um... I guess I have a lot of faults in my game, you know, I'm not the technically best player, I don't always win tackles when I go to ground, I sometimes can't find teammates with long passes, but, you know what, I can still run fast and I can still get my teammates fired up!"

WHY DO... PEOPLE SAY THAT VILITA SUCKS?!

"You tell me, you're the one who keeps taking shots at them."

DO YOU... LIKE THEIR KITS?!

"Yeah, I personally think they look pretty good..."

I DON'T! I CAN'T TELL IF THAT'S BLACK OR DARK BLUE!

"Okay then. Thank you for interviewing me."

YOU ARE WELCOME. I AM ROBOT.
