With the renovation of the diplomatic quarter of the Qasbah Anaki district, in the historic capitol city of QartCanhadast, we would like to accept new applications for Diplomatic Missions and Embassies within our nation. All nations holding embassies that do not wish to switch to the new location may do so. As of now, businesses intersperse various parts of the district, but the plots have been largely left open, with only basic connections to utilities being provided. Nations wishing to move their embassy must submit plans to build their embassy (at their own expense) in their application, to be forwarded to the Department of City Planning. As a reminder, the regulations for Diplomatic Missions are listed below.

Rules and Regulations:

I. An embassy may only be established as a symbol of peace and mutual trust. Therefore, unless such a policy is not reciprocated, embassies will be considered the sovereign territory of the nation in question, and subject to their laws. Any criminal activity that takes place on such embassies will not be investigated without the consent of the authority in the nation in question. Any criminal activity that leaves embassy grounds will be treated as an illegal activity crossing a border.

II. Embassy staff will be granted variable diplomatic immunity, subject to reciprocation. No acts committed as part of a duty of the embassy shall be prosecuted, except for espionage directed towards the Canhadasti Republic that occurs outside of embassy grounds. Diplomatic staff outside of the Ambassador (or equivalent) and Deputy Ambassador (or equivalent) may be fined for violations in traffic law, as well as for any violations of the Ambassadorial Edict of 2643CC (which governs cases of murder, rape, assault with a deadly weapon, and pederasty). However, all diplomatic staff are expected to observe all laws and edicts of the Canhadasti Republic, lest there be a need to file a formal complaint.

III. Embassy security staff are allowed to stock all small arms necessary to the safety and security of their grounds. However, no armed vehicles or explosives will be allowed to pass into the diplomatic quarter.

IV. The diplomatic quarter will be regularly patrolled by the Somrim Canhadasti, the military police of our republic. All roads will have a checkpoint through which all traffic must pass. Diplomatic staff will be required to issue identification cards provided by the Somrim's Office of Diplomatic Security to both exit and enter the area. Suspicious activity will be investigated, and searches may be made with a proper authorization of a member of the local Harook. However, only attempts to bypass any of the mentioned regulations will lead to a formal complaint and/or arrest.

Helpful Information on the Canhadasti Republic

The nation of Canhadast has been around in various forms since the establishment of Qartcanhadast (meaning literally New Canaan City, or the City of New Canaan in english) since 650BCE. A largely conservative culture, the Canhadasti are primarily business people, and traders, with perhaps less industry than would be expected of a nation it's size. The citizenry make up about 25% of the population, mostly of ethnic Semites such as Canhadasti, Jews, Arabs, and ethnic Berbers, as well as people of mixed heritage, the descendants of soldiers, and those that have been able to pay into a citizenship tax. The remaining populace is largely ethnic Lehabim, a berber speaking linguistic group that encompasses many ethnic backgrounds, Keltibirim, a mixed race of Celts and Iberians who speak a variety of languages and are vary in culture, and various islanders such as the Malethim, Karalim, Shardinim/Alim, and Ballo'him, who have distinct cultures with varying degrees of acceptance into Canhadasti society.

The Canhadasti people are generally religious, and follow the mainstream pantheon headed by the principal god Ba'al Hammon and goddess Ba'alot Tanit (of whom Tanit is the Patron goddess of the nation). Overt religiousness in the form of inscriptions on buildings, memorial statues and stelae, and hanging charms are common amongst practitioners. There is also a flourishing Cult-Culture, with the second most important religion in Canhadast being the Cult of Adonis-Tammuz, which is based principally around a god from the mainstream pantheon. Most forms of the indigenous Canhadasti religion are Polylatristic or monolatristic, in that they accept that other gods outside of the main pantheon as existing, but inferior to their own. This has lead to a widespread acceptance of other religions, and particularly a blending of religions, such as various mixtures of Buddhism and Cult worship. The Canhadasti religion is not considered Abrahamic, however the god of Abraham, Yaweh, is a god in the mainstream pantheon, although in addition to his consort Asherah. Freedom of religion is guaranteed in the Canhadasti constitution, except for the Cult of Mot-wa-Shar (the god of Death and Destruction) is banned to all Citizens and Residents, on pain of death.

The Canhadasti constitution was penned in 1953BCE, and contains a provision requiring a total rewrite every 100 years. Basic freedoms are guaranteed, and there are very few restrictions on what an individual may do. However, the system is not libertarian, as there are restrictions on such things as hard drugs, for example. A curfew also exists in the provinces of Medbar Tarsi and Barka, due to ongoing civil unrest associated with the large expanse and difficult indigenous population. Canhadast does, however, boast some of the lowest crime rates in the region, and is one of the least restrictive, and most dynamic places to do business in the world.

Because of Canhadast's history as a nation and culture of sea-faring traders, many Canhadasti citizens and residents live abroad in close proximity to each other. In ancient times, citizens would band together to form colonies in foreign locals. Today, with immigration laws, and a general respect for national sovereignty, they mainly form enclaves of temporary residents. This traditional business practice ensures that a temple complex may be built to accommodate the local faithful, and a hawaladar may have enough customers to support himself. It also exemplifies the need for a good system of embassies and consulates to accommodate the needs of such citizens.

I happened to notice while filling out the application that the Canhadasti Republic has set up a part of the production line of certain vital to war material in our humble nation. I presume this is a sign of trust placed in our nation, and would like to return the favor.

Therefore, I've decided to grant a patch of land in the outer imperial palace, with an area of 100 meters wide and 150 meters long for the usage of the Canhadasti Republic, with the only restriction being that no weapons above pistol caliber be brought in. In addition, the palace guards can serve as the guards and staff of your nation's embassy. Finally, your embassy staff can have access to dining in the inner palace and various other services reserved for the officials. Due to the nature of this plot of land, we cannot transfer the sovereignity of the plot of land to your nation.
